Is there a way to root nexus NRD90U without wiping userdata?

Boot into TWRP recovery and flash SuperSU.
Rooting doesn't wipe userdata

Update to the latest TWRP. It works fine on N without wiping data. Just be aware both versions have a different bug. I 3.02-1 works but will brick your phone if you backup and flash the EFS partition and 3.02-2 will flash everything fine but will throw errors when creating backup's. I personally would go with 3.02-1 just make sure you have a backup of your EFS before you update. Back it up by itself and store it somewhere. You would only ever need it in an emergency situation.
The encryption method has been modified in mrd90u
After reboot twrp is wiped out.
But I will try thanks

If u use 3.0.2.2 latest like me the only bug like mentioned above me is that make sure compression is unchecked when making backups.
I've made several N backups fine with 3.0.2.2
If you decide to use 3.0.2.1 jus keep in mind that the bug with it is it doesn't restore the EFS properly there for cause boot loop.
If u make a backup with 3.0.2.1 jus remember NOT to restore the EFS part of the backup.

Thank you all
I used twrp 3.0.2 but it froze at the starting image so I used twrp 2.8 and sideload SuperSU using adb command
I thing the problem is due to the encryption

If you flash twrp 3.0.2-2 and then flash supersu it will not disappear after a reboot.

Yes you must immediately reboot to boot-loader after flashing TWRP and then flash SU to retain TWRP recovery.

Hi I tried to format system and install recovery but the phone only go un fastboot
Typical behavior of wrong recovery, just use fastboot to flash the proper recovery...
Base ROM is OOS 2.x flash official twrp, h2os or oos beta use modified recovery

So i installed Android N via OTA update. Now I think my want my root back. Is it possible to flash TWRP now that im on Android N? Do I have to go back to marshmallow and flash the android N zip?
You can flash TWRP on android N but you will also decrypt you phone or you won't be able to access TWRP. It does not work on N if your phone is encrypted you will be stuck on the TWRP splash screen. You will have to wipe userdata and then flash unencrypted boot image, then flash TWRP, then su and you will be good.

sounds like wayyyy to much work. ill downgrade lol
If you flash all the .IMG files in fastboot with the exception of recovery, and the format userdata and cache and reflash twrp you can stay encrypted and have twrp. Then just shellac side load adb and flash su.

Have you done this?
I dont want root, I want to keep the ability to continue having updates whenever they come out. But I'm uber annoyed at the hotspot restriction I have. There's a way to remove it with twrp but I was never able to boot into twrp because of encryption.
Yes, this is how I have my phone setup, I am Fully encrypted and have TWRP booting and able to flash. This is how I root N and don't need to decrypt.

Can u give step by step method for flashing TWRP on N ??
This is not a step by step for flashing twrp on N there are plenty of those just use search.
This is how I flashed twrp without flashing any kind of modified boot.img on N.
Start on stock MM. Flash twrp.
Download N build and extract all images. Flash all partitions except for recovery. Reboot. See if you can boot to recovery. If it hangs at twrp logo Format userdata and format cache and reflash twrp. Optional: adb side load latest SU for root.

Ihave installed twrp for 6.x for my p9 android 7 and its not booting into twrp ok then from where can i install the N build and how can i flash everything except recovery
Being the dumb person I am, I decided to clean flash oxygen OS Open Beta 5 by completely wiping the system partition using TWRP recovery. I then used the adb push command to send the OB 5 ROM to my internal storage, but flashing it gave an error 7. I did the same with OB 4 as well as OB 3, but nothing seems to work. I then flashed stock recovery onto my phone and tried installing the ROM from there. However, it didn't let me access my internal storage and when I tried the sideload from adb option, the adb devices (and hence the adb sideload) command was not recognized by my computer, although my drivers are properly configured and they work in TWRP recovery.
Please guide me on what to do and how to unbrick my device. Thanks.
Fotmat data in TWRP, reboot again into recovery, then flash ROM after factory reset in 'Wipe partition'

It's not bricked... Just go to fastboot, flash codeworkx recovery, reboot to it and flash this official 5.0.2 rom.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=962187416754457204
Then flash whatever you want.

same issue here. bricked phone?

Hello all
I was on OOS 9.0.17 + TWRP 3.3.1-20 + Magisk 20.1.
I follow SyCreed's upgrade guide and everything was ok.
I managed to flash Omega kernel and ****ed all and I must low erase/format everyting, pull boot then magisk patched to fastboot to be able te recovery to full flash & erase all partitions.
i'm now on full A10 + TWRP + Magisk using all global method:
- full flash rom
- flash twrp
- reboot recovery
- full flash rom
- flash twrp
- reboot recovery
- flash magisk
- reboot system
- do all settings from start
When I reboot to TWRP all my sdcard seems to be scrambled... Have I missed something ?
Why do you create a new thread?
Ask in Sycreed thread. It in Q and A section
And twrp stuff has been asked and answered many times you'll find all the answers by searching in twrp thread also

It's a new thread because I made a full clean install and not an upgrade. I'm in the situation of a fresh new phone with a clean OOS10 install...
I'm not anymore updated from OOS9... Maybe I was not clear and I apologize for this

It doesn't change anything about twrp and root access. Discussions in those thread are valid for your situation
Issues doesn't come from upgrade but from Android 10 and its new system file design

Decryption is not working on TWRP 3.3.1-20 , flash OldkeymasterFlasher.zip before twrp and magisk
Format data
Fash rom
Flash OldkeymasterFlasher.zip
Flash twrp 3.3.1-20 Q
Flash magisk-v20.1
Reboot to system

As I had issues with twrp + Magisk in A10 (freezes, FC, non working WiFi) I went this way:
MSM download tool to latest OOS
Update OOS to Android 10
Reboot to bootloader
Flash twrp version ***-20
Run twrp
Instal Magisk v20.1 zip via twrp sideload
Reboot to bootloader
Flash Magisk patched boot.img
Reboot to system.
And now you'll have fully functional encrypted A10 with Magisk but without TWRP.
I will just wait until oneplus and our awesome devs fix this problem. For sure they will sooner or later

try OTG storage. It will bypass the decryption issue, you'll have to test yourself to find out if flashing works.
