Calls won't go to voicemail. - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Calls I receive just disconnect after four rings. I tested it myself with a different phone. Some apportionment messages I get will just keep repeating the calls over and over again as there is no answer. I had an voicemail app installed, YouMail, but getting rid of it doesn't seem to help. I don't know what to do. Maybe a setting was changed on the phone but I don't remember. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Try going into your dialer, settings, calls, and then voicemail. It may not be setup.

If you used YouMail then you need to switch back to your standard provider voicemail service by not forwarding calls to You Mail anymore.

Google Voice push sms and voicemail after app update.

After the Google voice app update I have no setting for refreshing every 30 mins or so. Has anybody notice?
Very cool, looks like voice is moving along nicely.
Come on VOIP!
Other forum alerted me to the update. Glad it finally got push in. Now I can turn off email notifications.
so do we have to manually install google voice (or any other preloaded apps) so that they can get auto-updates from market?
The default on the updated app seems to be disabled notifications for some reason... anyone know why?

Because you no longer update by a time schedule anymore. It's all strictly push now.

Right... but the box to "Synchronize the Inbox" was unchecked. I checked the box, which also turned the notifications back on. I used my gf's phone to leave a test vmail, and it instantly notified me.
Are you saying that leaving the box unchecked will still push the notification automatically? I thought that we had to enable synching the inbox...

No, I'm saying it was turned off because the old sync no longer applies and perhaps some people don't want push.

Ah... ok, that makes sense. So I was right to check that box then.

No problem... just be aware that if you reboot the phone you need to go back into those settings and change it again. I don't know if the new update has fixed that little issue, as I suspect it's not with the GV app, but with the software on the phone itself. Hopefully it will be fixed soon though...
Any word or clue to whether or not Google Voice will ever implement picture messaging ?
So I've synced my Inbox, have all my notifications set-up, rebooted my phone, and am still not receiving ANY notifications for TXT messages...Anyone have any idea what might cause this? It's a bit frustrating blah, especially since I use GV text for a side business
I don't get the VM notification emails anymore, but I still get that blasted second txt msg whenever someone sends me a GV sms =/

That will happen, but if you scroll down further that in Call Settings and tap Call Forwarding settings, you'll see it's going to your GV number. The voicemail option just changes where your calls get forwarded to for voicemail.

It also changes what number is dialed when you hit the voicemail icon in the dialer. Try rebooting your phone and clicking the vmail icon... it will automatically default to the Carrier. You have to change it manually in Call Settings as I described for the dialer to revert to GV for vmail.

Uninstall the update. When you re-install after the sign part there is the option to setup for voicemail.

Ah, well I never use it because what's the point with Google Voice. I can see them and listen to them on the app without having to dial in and waste minutes.

voicemail notification

The voice mail notification is there but I have no voice mails. I have looked everywhere and cant find how to get rid of it. Can anyone help?
Guess I am alone on this I have deleted Google Voice, called my old voice mail number and made sure that there was nothing there, factory reset and wiped it. I have no clue how to clear this notification. This along with the left side of my touch screen being unresponsive might just have to take it back.
It's down to the carrier to clear it, not you.
Leave yourself a vm, then delete it... Bingo!

I had the same problem. Soon as I got my phone, the voicemail icon appeared.
If you're using Google Voice, this is how I fixed it:
Change voicemail from Google Voice to My Carrier.
Settings > Call Settings > Voicemail Service
Stop Voicemail Forwarding:
Go to google.com/voice > Settings > Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone
(If you're with T-Mobile, it's: ##004#)
Then call your number and listen to your non-existing voicemail. Once you hung up, the notification should be gone.
You can change the setting back to normal (voicemail carrier and voicemail Forwarding).
To re-activate voicemail forwarding (for T-Mobile):
*004*1----------#
Replace dashes with your 10-digit Google Voice number.
Hope that helps.

This is what I did when I got mine. I had the same problem.

I had this issues when I got my Nexus S, I had AT&T, Google Voice, then ported my number to T-Mobile. I had a Voicemail from 805 number (T-Mobile), took a while to properly port over. I tried all kinds of things, then after my AT&T SIM finally disabled, I turned off GV, called my own, left a voicemail, checked the voicemail and it fixed itself. Now back to GV for voicemails.
Thank you for all the suggestions I didnt get to read this till after I got home from work. I ended up taking my phone back and got a replacement. As soon as I popped my sim in the voicemail notification popped up. Same problem as before so I drove home. I called T-Mobile and switched to the new sim card that came with the phone. Called my voice mail hung up the notification is gone. So somehow my sim card was causing the error.

[Q] Voicemail Won't Pick Up

I've been having trouble with my VoiceMail. I'm running CM 7 and using the Sprint VVM 5.1.4.8 and the Voicemail will not pick up. The phone just rings and rings. I disabled Google Voice and did *38 to stop call forwarding and it still won't work. I can go into the app and hit "compose" and record a message to myself and send it and it shows up fine. But when I use another phone to call my phone, it just rings on and on and the VM never picks up. I could really use some help!
Thanks
I gotta say i have not a clue how to fix that. I have called people that had that same problem on different phones but not happen to me. Btw you should post this in q/a not the dev section. You will probably get an answer sooner

I usually try not to troll... But why in the bloody hell would you put this in this section? This is so blatantly unrelated to development its insane.
I apologise for posting in the wrong forum. I've been sort of scattered since this problem started. Mod's, will you please delete?
Thanks

I think i had the same issue a few months ago, what i did was log into my Google Voice from my home PC and go into Phones settings and make sure forward calls to Mobile (Sprint) is unchecked and save settings and that should take care of it. What happens is when you finish flashing a new ROM and your phone boots up for the first time and it gets to the Google login, skip the migration to Sprint to your Google Voice because it causes this problem.Hope this helps! Peace!

[Q] Google Voice voicemail issues on LG G2

Google Voice not working from G2 call logs. Anyone else notice this? It shows I have a voice-mail in the phone's call logs but it won't play. Hitting the log does nothing. Can go into GV and hear the message so that seems to be working but it doesn't work like my Gnexus did. Anyone have thoughts or a fix for this?
It's not working right for me either. I kept hoping I would find a setting somewhere but I haven't yet.
Yep. I'm seeing problems too. Sometimes phone rings on an incoming GV number call but most of the time not. This is potentially a deal breaker. I only use GV. Any solutions greatly appreciated!

Try an older version. I wish i could comment on if this works, but i can't get my phone to access google voicemail settings. I recently resubmitted my resume online and i've had 5 calls come in this past weekend on my phone. None have not rung.

Ok. Did that. I tried it a few times today. Rang no problem. I do not get any indication in the recent history of a voice mail but i can swipe notification bar and click on the vm and it opens in voice. Will mess around some more.
My phone rings and it shows in the recent calls notification list. It just won't play the message from that list. I have to open the voice app to listen to the message. I just wish it was more like my Galaxy Nexus but this is probably due to LGs Android tweaks.
I never even look for VM in call log, just quicker, and easier for me to click the notification ....

I reverted to an older version of 0.4.2.54 frin 0.4.2.82 and still am having issues with ringing on an incoming call to my GV number It will ring about 5 our of 7 or so times, but when it doesn't ring, there is no notification of a missed call, not even from GV. I have to go to the Missed call folder on GV to discover the missed call. If someone does leave a message, I do get my notification of the voice message.
This reminds me of the problems I had on my old Droid X with GV and the stock VZ Motorola ROM on that phone. My last phone a Gnex running stock AOSP never had an issue with GV. I suspect that this has something to do with LG's phone/dialer app interacting with GV....
I am also running lightflow for notification, but that shouldn't have any impact on just having the damn phone ring on an incoming call.
Update.
I allowed the OTA and changed Lightflow to not run in the foreground and since haven't had further problems with GV ringing phone on incoming calls?
Not sure what fixed it.

I have a similar problem, i can't make calls to certain numbers with gv. Nothing seems to fix it. It's definitely the g2, i switched my sim back to my nexus and gv works fine.
I was having the same issue. I deactivated it and activated it, and that seemed to solve the issue. On at&t you dial ##004# and hit send to deactivate it. To reactivate you dial **004*1(your gv number)# without the parenthesis and hit send.

Voice mail on Verizon?

I can't figure out how to setup any sort of voicemail on my 6P. If prefer to have Google voice handle my voicemail, but so far I can't get it to work. I can overall the app and set it up through the voicemail settings, but when calling my phone it still says I don't have voicemail setup.
I've used GV for years with my other Android phones, this is the first time I've had an issue.
I've seen suggestions to forward my number to my GV number through Verizon settings, but I don't want to use that phone number I just want the voicemail.
Had anyone figured this out?
Alternately I'd go with stock Verizon voicemail, non-visual.

You have to set up No answer forwarding so Google can get the call and manage the VM.
You set up no answer forward to your GV number and it works.

Thanks for the reply, can you tell me how to do that? Just need a little more details, never done it before.
Edit: I figured out the forwarding part, just wish there was a way to not have to go thru two full ring cycles. It rings my vzw number then my GV number then I get to voicemail.
It also causes my home PC to ring with the Google voice number...

*71[Your Google Voice number] -- This turns on Conditional Forwarding, which should transfer calls to your Google Voice number when your Verizon phone is busy or unanswered after 3 to 6 rings.
*90[Your Google Voice number] -- This turns on Busy Transfer, which transfers all calls that would hear a busy signal to your Google Voice number.
*92[Your Google Voice number] -- This turns on No Answer Transfer, which transfers all calls unanswered after 3 to 6 rings to your Google Voice number.
Now you need to login to your GV.
Go to settings -> Voicemail and texts.
Now set up your greeting, etc.
Now go to phones and add your number (Verizon).
Now click "edit" then show advanced.
Look at the various options.
The one you are really interested in "Go Straight To VM".
This will send all your calls on GV straight to VM.
You want this so the Verizon caller does not get additional rings on GV.

I used to have Verizon VVM but didn't really use it that much so when I switched to the 6P I canceled it online. For the next couple of days when I got a voicemail I wouldn't get a notification but I would get a text with a string of characters. Then I called Verizon and they put the VVM cancel though and since then I get the normal voicemail icon. I can dial into voicemail from there and listen to them as normal.
I don't really miss visual voicemail, but I don't get a ton of them to begin with.
