When I try to open links from Facebook, either in the app or in the stock Samsung browser while on wifi, they will get hung up loading and I only ever get as far as a blank page. If I turn off wifi, they load fine. If I set the FB app to open links in the app, they load fine. I have tried on my old LG G3 and they open fine from the app on wifi on Chrome. I have not tried Chrome on my S7 Edge yet because I have it disabled. I use Adblock Fast and the issue persists with it turned on or off. Anyone have any ideas? Same problem?

Enabled Chrome and links work so this is limited to the stock Samsung browser.

It has to do with cookies. If I disable cookies the pages load just fine.

Bringing this thread back, I'm still having issues with the S7 Edge and my wifi. It seems to be limited to ESPN website and ESPN Fantasy app. Neither will load once I have logged into my account for them. They load fine if I clear the cookies and the data for the app. They also work fine through a VPN. I have tried them on my old LG G3 and my Nexus tablet and they work fine on those devices with no VPN, so I think it has something to do with the S7 Edge. I have reset all the network settings on the phone and I have reset the settings on my router and tried various security settings including disabling security on my wifi and the problem persists. Can anyone shed any light on this issue?
I rolled my phone back to AT&T's June firmware (APF2) and that seems to have fixed the problem I was having with WIFI. They added WIFI calling after that firmware so I'm wondering if that is related to the issues I was having.

My Facebook app (including Messenger) cannot connect to Facebook over my wireless network. This has been happening for weeks now. All of my other apps, including the browser, can connect to the internet over my wireless network with no problems (I can even access the Facebook mobile website via the web browser). The Facebook app will only work over WiFi. When on my wireless network, it just shows "updating" for a long time, until eventually displaying a "network error" message.
There have been a few times in the past couple weeks, however, where the app will connect and update over the wireless network. Unfortunately, this only lasts a few hours or so, and then it resumes not working again. Perhaps this means I'm having account issues.
I have tried clearing the app data/cache, uninstalling and re-installing the app, restarting my phone, etc. to no avail. I am using stock Android on a Nexus 4.
Anyone else having this problem? I've searched the web for this problem, and information seems to be scarce.
Someone started this same thread already. Its got something to do with the newest update. Use friendcaster for the time being is my only suggestion.

Happening to me too but friendcaster doesn't work either. I am forced to download a dns changer and set them to opendns and then it mysteriously works fine. Native app and all. Started with the LTE rollout here in San Diego

Yeah, Friendcaster didn't work for me either.
I think I figured it out... The Facebook app has problems when WiFi is on when there is not a WiFi connection. If you turn off WiFi it seems to work on the wireless network.
Actually, that didn't work. Oh well. Back to using the mobile website.
Edit your APN settings to use IPv4 only and not IPv4/IPv6. See if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the suggestion, by my APN is already set to only use IPv4. However, the app has suddenly started working again, which makes me think this whole problem is server side. Hope it lasts. Crossing my fingers.
Hi,
I don't know if I can have any help with this issue but I have nowhere else to go for this. I am having problems with my GS5 loading the Play Store and Facebook mainly on my home Wifi. I connect it to other Wifi networks at work or elsewhere and don't experience these same issues. Now on Wifi the browser works fine and everything else works fine when I download, play online games on the phone, etc. Facebook wont load pretty much anything on Wifi (rarely it does but its slow) and the play store will lo extremely slow and be spotty while connected to Wifi in the home. Is anyone else experiencing this issue and if so do you know a fix for this. Any help is greatly appreciated and appreciate all answers and responses in advance!
Try resetting your modem/router

If it works on other networks it most be something with yours
Actually I do have this same problem...thought it was just me. I didn't really notice the Play Store doing it, but Facebook is horrible about it. It works perfectly fine at work, or any other wifi I have tried. I have no idea what causes it... any ideas would be great!
I spent the first few days after buying the s5 trying to figure this same issue out. I even returned the phone for a new s5 thinking it was defective.
The solution: I had to update the firmware on my home router (dlink). After updating the firmware everything worked perfect.

I have tried checking for new versions of firmware on my router and there isn't one. Tried rebooting and resetting the router even put back to factory settings and still no luck. Tried it on the regular network and the 5GHZ network and my download speeds on WiFi are insane and have run a speed test. Even get online and download files and everything without hesitation. Just the play store and Facebook mainly have been doing it and I can't figure it out.

Is there a computer at home you can try with Facebook to help isolate the problem to your router? If it runs great from a PC you will know that it is a combination of your phone on your network. If you are using a FB app have you tried FB from a browser.

Sounds like it may be some security issues on the router, try turning things off one at a time and see if it helps then you will pinpoint the culprit!
Is anyone else having issues with the 6P or just Marshmallow in general of not being able to connect to any wifi?
think that means connected to network but no internet available
Did you try connecting to a different Wifi network and see if you are having the same issue? I did not see an issue. Might be your router or modem is blocking internet access for your device.

Yes, I tried connecting to multiple wifi networks and it's showing the same thing: "connected, no internet". When I try with another device or laptop, it connects fine to all those wifi networks. It's just my Nexus 5 and 6P running Marshmallow.
I searched around and tried to use a static IP, also changed the frequency band from automatic to 2.4 GHz. Nothing works.
Go to Backup and reset and try a reset on network settings and see if that resolves the issue.
OK, this is interesting. I just found out from a colleague of mine (I'm currently traveling in China), that this is basically saying you are connected to the Internet, but just not to any of the Google services. I just checked and it seems everything pretty much works, except I can't access gmail, Facebook, etc. anything that's blocked by the Great Firewall of China.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your phone and select phone information & select run ping test and see if it pings google services. It should have been defaulted to Google, atleast it is on myn.
I'm running into the same issue, but I'm in the US. No WiFi network works. And I don't actually have internet.
The odd thing is all my other devices connect to the networks just fine.
I already tried resetting network settings, and rebooting in safe mode, to no avail. I even reset my router to stock and reconfigured.
Anyone else having similar issues?

I have this - and I am in China. Still getting internet, just not the blocked services and data. I can get the google stuff with vpn, but the exclamation and wireless remains. Cheers.

Facebook says no Internet
Google Play Store seems quite slow at loading pics
Strava not loading map pics
Imdb not loading pics
Basically... Apps seem to be having pic loading problems

Oh bottom wrong nexus model... I'm sorry... Didn't notice ?
Sorted it... was my wifi... I changed the channel settings to Auto Performance, then back to Auto Compatibility, and all working again now
Wanted to add for what it's worth: I had the exclamation point on any wifi I connected to and fixed the exclamation point by disabling Adblock Plus.
I've been getting the WiFi exclamation point also. Would AdBlock Plus cause that?

yes ad block was causing it for me too.
i disabled ad blocking from the app, froze the app from titanium backup, removed root access to adblockplus from super su and rebooted and everything is working fine now
Same problem here.
Hard reset and nothing.
The weird thing is that in my house works just fine (5 ghz)

Nexus 6p in China
I am in China. 6P wifi / internet hook up worked fine with Comcast in the US. When I arrived in China I could connect to wifi but it reported no internet access. Went to a Huawei store and they tried hooking up to their local wifi. Same thing - no internet access but connection to wifi made. They sent me to a Huawei testing center 10 minutes away. Got there, the same thing. They could connect with their local wifi but no internet interface. Then they told me they had no permissions to work this phone because it was not authorized inside China. I asked if they could research why it the internet won't connect. They put in a Chinese sim card. WHAM - They could log into the wifi and get internet. Next I tried VPN to see if there was some kind of work around but no avail - VPN needs the internet. The best thing I could I could was to call my service provider to bump up my roaming data speed (Be careful about roaming plan you have - cost $$$$). I have minimal internet access through phone but its not blocked - I can get google.
try fixing ur time
I wasn't sure where to put this, but the issue started with the nexus player, so I figured I'd try here.
My girlfriend and I were watching a TV series on netflix, on my nexus player, when it started having a connection problem. I've had my nexus for about 6 months and have never had an issue with it before.
I can get onto netflix on the nexus player, and browse the titles, but as soon as I try to play something, it tells me my device may not be connected to the internet. If I do the network test, it shows a good test for all 3 netflix servers, and the internet connection. I can watch netflix on my laptop just fine over wifi, but of course, if I try to stream the tab.... it opens the netflix app which says it can't connect. (I tried uninstalling the netflix app and streaming the tab, but it just tells me I need to install the netflix app)
Finally I tried installing netflix on my galaxy S5, and it also wouldn't stream anything, until I turned off wifi.... then it worked fine. I have tried everything I can think of and have read to try to fix this. I've changed my router to send default ISP DNS servers to devices, I've tried setting google DNS servers, I've checked time zone settings, I've cleared netflix app data, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've done a factory reset.... nothing will work.
If it's an issue with router settings, I don't understand why it works fine on my laptop. I had made no changes to my network or any of my devices' configuration when it stopped working.
Does anyone have any idea why this would only affect android devices, and only over my wifi? I have no idea what else to try.

You cleared app data, what about the app cache? Also do you happen to be using a vpn service like unblock-us, I had a similar issue one time when my region had been changed from usa to uk on the website and then it was telling me I couldn't connect. Good luck.

Yeah when you clear data, it also clears the cache. I also uninstalled and reinstalled, and even did factory reset. I'd never had it on my phone until today and no go there... .and like I said, only on WiFi. Yet it works fine on my laptop over WiFi. On my Galaxy S5 it works on cellular fine. This is the weirdest issue I've ever run into.
I've worked as a computer/network tech since 2005, and while I may not be the most knowledgeable guy around, I can usually figure out any network related issue... but I don't know what the difference would be between the android apps and the browser app. I figure if it's not the app it would have to be something with my router/firewall... but I have no idea what.
UPDATE
It's definitely something to do with my router config. I have the same router/access point set up at home as we have at work, and we also have the same internet plan aside from this being a business account. But it's the same ISP, and same Up/Down speed. I just tried it at work over wifi on my phone and it works fine.
It could also be your ISP. Business account traffic is treated differently than residential account.
Ok I got it fixed. I still have no idea what the hell the problem was. I couldn't find any firewall rules that could have caused the issue. Nothing had changed in my set up and it just suddenly stopped working in the middle of watching one day. I considered the ISP being an issue, but my girlfriend also has COX internet, and she had no issues at her house on her blue ray player or phone on her wifi, and like I said before... it still worked on my laptop at home.
I think some kind of bug just popped up in pfsense. I did a factory reset on it and now everything's working fine. Still the weirdest issue I've ever encountered. It still worked fine on my laptop, but not on any android (on wifi), or maybe mobile and not android was the factor? I don't own apple products so I couldn't test that.
I got the device yesterday. When I first set up, it couldnt pass "checking connection" after connected to wifi. I passed by switching to LTE. Then I realized that I couldnt download any Play Store apps by wifi (it keeps saying download and then fails). LTE can make normal downloads. Wifi still works for browsing, playing games and any other functions. I did a factory reset, but it didnt get any better. The same result with my brother device (on same wifi network). I am wondering anybody having this issue

Just got my phone from tmobile today, and was having all the same symptoms as you guys. In the back of my head I keep thinking I had the same issue back with my SGS1, but couldn't remember what I did. Worst of all, my SGS3 was working fine on wifi. Finally reading some posts from people with the same issue at Verizon it hit me.
I'm using an old Netgear WNDR3700v2. 3 steps:
1. Disable IPv6
2. ?
3. Profit
Hope this helps.
I had the same issue. If you have access to router settings add 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as Static DNS addresses. Those are the standard Google addresses. Fixed my problem.
