Excerpt from the post:
"During some time now, the FreeXperia group of independent developers have been working on the CyanogenMod custom ROM for our latest Xperia™ phones. From a Sony Ericsson Developer program perspective, we were impressed by the passion shown and decided to help out with some bits and pieces, since we are aware that Sony Ericsson phones have been somewhat difficult to work with from an open developer point of view. A few proprietary solutions needed to be explained and we helped them with that. This included the camera, where we provided debugged and rebuilt camera library binaries, which we will soon make available on Developer World under a special EULA license. We also supported the group with approximately 20 devices, to make their work easier."
Don't know if this is all true or not but if SE really supported the FXP team they would have unlocked the X10 bootloader sooner.
maybe theyve had a change of heart! This is great news! That means we will probably have a fully working camera with zoom and everything on the cyagonmod rom!

They just trying to follow Samsung, after seeing their success.

SE saw Samsung make the same announcement months ago and watched how the community responded...
If they do there will be a brand new x10 in the post to DooMLoRD right now!

R u talking for real or being sarcastic?
Hope SE keep their words until I get Arc S next year.
Sony Ericsson FTW!
Samsung is the largest manufacturer of Android phones like ours, but as we know, they provide very little support for third party developers like the CM team. In order to get Samsung to open more information about the devices & support developers like CM, one of the CM team members Codeworkx has created a petition urging Samsung to help us.
Please click here to open the petition & sign it so that we have enough weight behind the petition. This is especially important for older phones like ours which are no longer actively supported by Samsung.
It's a pitty Samsung probbably doesn't care much about phones like ours anymore, because they already made their money. I doubt if this will help.
Hello, I go to all developers of this forum to start a petition and ask Sony to provide us the latest version of the update for Xperia Play ICS created by them. I believe that among all users of XDA we can achieve a stable version and enjoy our Xperia Play ICS, and I imagine we all like to be updated daily. I hope I can help. I accept ideas, criteria, complaints, all Luck. I'm on the lookout.

Hi all app developers,
The new XAppDbg tool from Sony (eXtra Application Debugging tool) lets you try out different parameters in your app without the need to rebuild the code for every change. For example, this can be really useful when you fine tune the UI of your app.
Feel free to have a look at the open source project and contribute to make it even better!

Pal, you've possibly just swayed me to pickup an Xperia as my next device. I'm not even a developer, but this kind of support for the community makes me want to give you my money. Please keep up the great work!

Nice move Sony, thanks you for all the devs that will use it.
It's weird to me to say thanks Sony, because Sony means DRM most of the time, it's a good step to share that way, thanks thanks thanks !

@pal.szasz, why don't give us XDA-Sony users things like easy root, tools for decompiling your apks which come with new issues every other FW release, those are things the majority of users here would like to see.

* easy root: giving root access is impossible for many reasons, legal reasons being one of them. However we do support unlocking the bootloader, which allows you to install custom roms which have easy root access
* tool for decompiling the APKs: http://developer.sonymobile.com/201...o-analyse-your-apks-now-released-open-source/
Good Topic!
