(Yes, I know there was another thread on this but it was locked for people going off-topic, focus on the goal people. I think an off-site petition would be better because even if the thread were to get locked people could continue to sign it.)
So pretty much developers could make their own alternative to the Google "Experience" applications, not use them (making the phone... just a phone? Not cool man), we could try and get Google to let developers to continue to use the proprietary apps with a petition, or developers could put themselves in front of a train (aka Google's legal team) and keep releasing builds with the "Experience" apps.
I think the petition is wisest of these ideas, they have worked in the past and perhaps could work now.
Hello XDA members,
So you all know that our phone that is the Samsung Galaxy 3 came with Android 2.1 aka Eclair and Samsung promised to give an upgrade to 2.2 aka Froyo. The Samsung has fulfilled its promise of Froyo upgrade and now I think the Samsung will never look back to our Galaxy 3. Our phone has already been of an old generation of Galaxy 3 but still it features almost equally attractive features when compared to other low end Galaxy Series phones like Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Pop, infact its better certainly. But now there is no scope of getting an Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread upgrade on our Galaxy whereas similar phones like Fit are expected to receive it soon. Here on XDA also Marcellusbe tried to port CM7 with 2.3.4, he released Alpha 5 Fix 1 and since then he stopped the Development for CM6 port which he thinks would help in CM7. Looking at current conditions we cant even hope of Unofficial CM7 i.e. 2.3.4 by the end of a year or so.There is very slim chance of even getting it because it is difficult for Marcellusbe to work alone. These kinds of project involves a big team.
The Group GINGERBRDFORG3 is formed with the aim to gather support of other Galaxy 3 users to convince Samsung to give an official upgrade to Galaxy 3. Samsung cannot neglect the demands of thousands of its customer. Just think there are lots of Galaxy 3 members, If we all together will request Samsung I am pretty sure that Samsung will release a upgrade. If it can run on Fit it would easily run on Galaxy 3. Our phone has a huge market. If Samsung releases an upgrade to 2.3 and increases the life cycle of Galaxy 3 there will be no harm only a Win-Win situation for both Samsung and us.
Just think on it twice. I know if all of you will support we will soon be able to convince Samsung. To do so just be a part of GINGERBRDFORG3, sign the petitions, tweet on official twitter handle and recommend friends. Its free, simple and can be done in seconds. If all of you give just 15 minutes to this group we can work out wonders.

First request to Samsung has been posted via Twitter and Facebook. Stay connected to know more.
If this is going to work thenI want to support it but I'm almost 100% sure that this wont.
if you gather enough people this will work, but you will need around 40,000-50,000 people
htc decided to develop GB for the desire as well by demand of the community, but they were a hell lot of people...
what you need is some sort of a petition site where people can sign the claim of gingerbread for the galaxy 3 and then you need enough people to sign it.
Yes dude thats from where I draw inspiration - The Case Of HTC Desire. We can do everything, we have everything.. We can form faceook pages, we can form twitter accounts we can use petition sites which are available but What we lack is Supporters. Even after such a long request no one has come up to support. Though the thread has 45 views only including you only 2 people replied without much enthusiasm? Can anyone help to gather people here im 99.99% sure that we can do this..
The same thing happened with sony ericsson xperia x10 where due to huge demand sony decided to give gingerbread .thumbs up I am supporting this.
If you support this Kindly use the links to Sign the Petitons and also follow the official twitter account and post messages so that samsung can see that we really want 2.3.. Also suggest your friends and family.. Please. Its a request.

I agree! Signed!!
agree
First I read "do not overclock"..... what has it to do with gingerbread?
just signed the partition
But i have my doubts:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16236183&postcount=2
Signed both........
maybe you should post the links in the official CM7 forum, samsung forum and on every forum you find on the topic to get some more people.
there's a facebook page for gingerbread for the G3 but it only has some hundred followers.
maybe you get some blogs or news sites to post it in a news as well...
you have to do evereything to promote them, otherwise you won't have chance to get enough people.
and you should only use one petition, to concentrate the amount of people.
if you have two petitions, some people will only sign one of them, which will degrade the total number you get.
Go!! 2.3 Go!!
I have signed the 1st petition Lets make a Riot..

Absolutely I will post everywhere after some time.. And also for posting all around the INTERNET FORUMS I should gather a support here on XDA.. The topic has been raised today only. I have already created an official twitter account and soon facebook page is also expected. This is a whole new project so I wont keep any connection with that old facebook page. Yes, thanks for the Suggestion I will remove petition 2's link. .. PM me if you have more suggestion.
Signed 1st petition, hope it will work.
I have removed petition 1ST. Those who signed only the 1st petition are requested to visit the link to petition and sign it again. Those who signed the 2nd petition no need to revisit because the current petition is what you had in 2nd petition previously. I deleted 1st one because it was having only 18 signs as compared to 23 in 2nd one. Now we have one petition only so more focus is given on it.

Hey guys the owner of the Italian Bada Blog created a petition for us Bada users to sign that WE WANT BADA 2.0 NOW AND NOT IN MARCH-APRIL 2012. I already signed and I thought I share the news with you so if anyone want to sign, do it, the more people sign the better, so Samsung understands the big problem they created.
http://www.change.org/petitions/bada-20-update-for-old-wave-devices-we-want-it-now
seriously !!!!!
it is our right to ask Samsung why it did this and ask for the update
no need to sign any penetation...we can annoy Samsung with bad publicity as a way to kill its new bada devices to force it to give the update
who is with me ?????
best regards
Done
Lets hope for the best ...

Hi TS please indicate that the petition spearhead is Manuel of Badablog.it and is a credible Leader for the petition and that he intends to discuss this with Samsung HQ provided he can produce massive numbers.
I have signed up for the petition please guys we need to reach at least a thousand to be taken seriously.

Why not write here...
Best Regards
i wrote to bada team already through the bug reporting channel which is directly connected to them
i wrote a simple question...how will the power app race go without the users
Best Regards
Probably they don't want to pay for the contest and so they are doing so. No bada 2.0 till March, less users, less downloads, no need to distribute the money!
The money saved then goes to make new Galaxy phones!
Dear Developer , Although the registration for bada 2.0 Power App Race is closed by the end of Dec, the REAL race will begin at next year. We have commenced the sale of Wave 3, M, Y from the end of Nov. and it is proceeding very good. We planned that the launch of bada 2.0 firmware upgrades start early 4Q, However, we are sorry that the plan was delayed until this month unfortunately. We will do our best to advance the schedule for bada 2.0 firmware. Once again, we are so sorry that the schedule of the applications which achieve 100,000 downloads might be delayed. Sincerely, we wish you the best of luck in our race. Thank you.

Badadaba 2...
May be Samsung wants to quit Bada. They release new phones but sales not going so good. Looks like a dramatic failure. Their mistake..
Sammy is happily travelling on Google's 'Bus' with others...but, anytime anyone can be kicked out at the next bus stop. And...............
There is something wrong in this picture. If Sammy is a 'serious' and 'creditable' company (!) there is something going on.
I think it would be great if you guys could post this news in other Bada - Forums and Blogs or contact the Blog Authors, so they can post the link to the petition on their Bada Blog. I already contacted the guys from bada-blog.de lets see if they will post the news. badablog.ru already posted it. If we want to be taken seriously we Bada users need to unite, problem is that not all Wave owners know about this petition, so we need inform the people through Forums like this and Blogs.
So spread this Link to every Bada blog and forum you know, so Samsung takes us seriously
I signed but I don't think anything changes. I'm hopeles for bada.

Yes me too. Bada is almost dead for me. My only hope is the Badadroid project but if the project fails I`m gonna buy an Android phone.
But for now we at least have to try to make clear to Samsung how bad they fu**ed up with this decision.
Samsung is loosing it's credibility and reputation badly..in this century if you support your customers as long as possible you are the king. And people close their eyes and buy your product like crazy because they are sure to have a real support and trust you.
Do you think Apple or Google developers are coming from another planet, which are super intelligence? NO, the companies are serious about their job. They play the game as honest as possible. Samsung is acting like a child they only want your money. Now, how can you buy their other products?...
How it is possible for a giant company like Samsung, to promise the update and
delay and delay and delay.
I don't think developers are very interested in creating Bada apps. Samsung is inviting them all around the world but there is no ready and completed OS. How can they trust?...
In the future Samsung will be a hardware company and Samsung Galaxy phones will be named as Google Galaxy and in the back of the phone at the bottom it will write with microscopic text ''Made by Samsung''.
Hi, a developer called pulser_g2 developer called codeworx made this petition for Samsung to be more open and be a lot more developer friendly, this petition is for all Samsung android devices, not just the s2. So I thought I would post it here in the hope a few of you may consider singing it please

Edit: Sorry I made a mistake, the developer Codeworx just heavily promoted the petition, pulser_g2 is the developer who made it, and thanks entropy512 for pointing the mistake out

IMO, in this day when manufacturers are locking down devices and intentionally making it very difficult for any development, Samsung has really catered to this small community. Companies like Motorola go as far as sabotaging their products to prevent any type hacking, rooting etc.
Sure, Samsung's official software upgrades are slow but I give them a lot of credit for reaching out in ways such as offering some of our top developers free devices.

The problem is they have, over time, become increasingly antagonistic to platform developers.
They are now failing to comply with the GPL with kernel source for many devices on a regular basis. The Infuse AT&T update took a month for source to show up, and Samsung ignored multiple requests for source in compliance with the GPL. The one time they answered, they claimed that they didn't have to provide source because they had stopped providing the update - that's bull****. If you provide a binary to someone, you MUST provide them the source - even if you are no longer providing binaries to other people.
They go out of their way to avoid releasing source whenever possible - see the AR6000 driver fiasco on the Tab 7 Plus.
The Galaxy S II hardware donation to the Cyanogenmod team was nothing but a PR stunt. If you follow the progress of CM9 on the I9100, you'll see that in addition to not providing any assistance to codeworkx and xplodwild, they are actively throwing barriers in the way. For example, secure containers (used by many apps) are disabled if a custom kernel is used in ICS.
Compare this to Sony, who provided technical assistance to the Cyanogenmod team leading to their entire 2011 lineup being well supported by CM, and also open-sourcing their sensor HALs when they didn't need to. They have also provided OFFICIAL ICS alphas and betas including source in compliance with the GPL, while everyone else just has leaks.
Unless Samsung changes their attitude - my next phone will be a Sony or a Nexus of some sort.

We all know that if someone makes a source code for our device (F/I/S/K/L/A/Z/W8/FD) It will be easier to port it to non-international variants.
And I think that porting from one device to another will be easier too.
Ex:-Note5 to S6 to S6e to S6e+
I have seen many pledge threads(almost every thread i have seen about bounty) making a big breakthrough in porting in XDA.
MODERATOR NOTE: Bounties are not encouraged on XDA, however some have resulted in needed breakthroughs.
A legitimate bounty should be started by someone other than the recipient, preferably an established member of the community. The recipient should be aware of and endorse the bounty and agree to its purpose. A set goal should be announced and totals kept current. No money should be collected up front but pledged to be sent to the recipient's donation link once goal is reached. Please also note bounties should be for significant critical development projects, not to get your favorite developers a new toy....that is what their DONATE link is for.
Please stay within these guidelines.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

By making this bounty I mean no disrespect for free-time developers but I think this will speed up the porting of AOSP based roms for our Galaxy S6 devices.

I doubt they have even created the source code, or if they have created it properly.
I'll pledge $10.
Where's the link to do that? Or we chip in at the end when someone is finally able to do it?
So you throw cash at a phone without doing research
Then you realize you want some other rom
So you throw cash at $randomperson to fix it
Even if you succeed with that, Samsung who caused this unfortunate situation will ultimately benefit, because people think their phones can get custom Roms.
It is your money, but do you really want that?
Just accept your fate and buy a customer friendly device next time, there are plenty of options where the vendor does not actively hate their customer.

Who said that I didnt know about samsung and their open source friendliness when I bought this device?
I have used 2 of exynos devices and I have developed for one of them
You cant tell that its nearly impossible, It is just hard thats all.
Even minor devices with exynos had gotten working AOSP roms.
So if you dont know better keep your mouth shut and stop discouraging prople.
Community-driven AOSP ROMs are 100% created by multiple developers, not one.
In our case, we would significantly benefit from the work of Note 4 developers(mainly RaymanFX).
1 man getting such bounty while basing on, benefiting from other developers is simply unfair and will most likely piss off other contributors.
If AOSP ROM ever comes to Exynos 7420, the main developer(or OP of such threads) will encourage users to donate to other contributors and users will donate accordingly to their amount of work, as it always have been.
If you can't figure out a proper way to distribute the amount of bounty accordingly to each contributors, I cannot support this kind of bounty.

These *new developers* wouldn't even have an S6 and would have trouble purchasing them.
Fundraising it for well-known Exynos developers such as GeeckoDev or RaymanFX would result much better than a bounty, if they are willing to work on this nightmare Exynos 7420.
