Hey XDA,
I just recently purchased a AT&T S7 (SM-G930A). I also just recently found out that AT&T doesn't push updates to non AT&T network phones. I am using the phone with T-Mobile and I was wondering if it was possible to flash the T-Mobile stock rom without tripping Knox or anything of that sort. I remember being able to do this to my AT&T Note 2 back in the day. If it is possible, can someone kindly link me to the file and instructions on how to flash the stock ROM from T-Mobile? Thanks!
You can, however once you do you can't go back. It may be possible in the future, but Tmobile has a v3 bootloader, and AT&T is still on v2 bootloader.

Thank you! One more question, I have the stock T-Mobile ROM and for the CSC, there are two files:
CSC and HOME_CSC
Which one do I choose in Odin for the CSC option?
Thanks
When attempting to flash using Odin 3.12.3, I get this error in the log:
FAIL! SHA256 is invalid
This seems to be because of a corrupt file?
I downloaded the ROM from two different sources now and still I get the same error.
Thanks

So TMobile ROM on 930A . Any issues ? Did you try going back to AT&T ROM
All that talk out bootloader versions and not able to restore back to AT&T ROM
Can you odin Unlocked 930U version ?
I'm using Cricket on AT&T S7 variant and I couldn't get any update from AT&T, which pissed me off. So I decided to flash G930U firmware and I succeeded. But unfortunately, there isn't a single G930U update been released so far, which is quite surprising.
Other than the update, I'm extremely satisfied with the new firmware. It's so fast and clean comparing to my previous bloated AT&T firmware, free of all kinds of overheating, battery dropping, slowing down, crashing, auto-restarting, bugs and lags (Just so you know, my G930A firmware was the newest. I had to take my phone to Best Buy to update. And I used PDP to disable bloatwares). I highly recommend everyone to flash G930U. The new firmware also has an APP called Samsung+. It's very useful and it tells you if it detected slow charging, or reminds you to restart your phone if it hasn't been restarted for a while, etc.
I'm still wondering if I can receive OTA after flashing anther variant firmware, but I can't confirm since there's no update for G930U yet. I'm curious to know if OP could receive any T-Mobile update after flashing.

I flashed to the latest update of the ROM so I can't prove it works. But from what I've heard, after flashing the ROM you need to factory reset the phone so it can unregister from att and register to whatever carrier you are using it on. I am not sure how true this is but I read it somewhere and it seems to make sense.

if you ever switch ROMs please check about the issue of bootloader version and not able to revert back .
Not able to revert back is the only issue keeping me from odin to T mobile ROM
If bootloader version is a problem then you cannot flash 930U firmware also
Is that so ?

I'm not sure what bootloader the G930U has. The att ROM has v2. If it's newer than that, then downgrading isn't possible. Is its the same, then it should be fine.

is flashfire used to flash a rom from the other network?? I assume you would need to flash there kernel 1st correct??
Please provide some additional details regarding this setup. I am also using AT&T service with my verizon s5.
I thought since partitions are different we couldn't use AT&T/TMO roms on verizon s5.

The thing is that we are only allowed to flash touchwiz roms, go check out the alliance rom in the att section download it, but if your are in oc4 lollipop or any other version youll need flashfire by chainfire ( google around) subsribe to the beta test then download it. but if your on AO8 just flash a lower kernel I.E NK2 so as to as to get safestrap working

I also don't see the 4.4.2 rom but if you want to use the 5.0 rom just install it with safestrap then boot directly into download mode from safestrap and use odin to flash the VZW 5.0 OC4 (firmware only) be sure its firmware only and just let it boot.

Just try it. Works for me. I'm using T-mobile though.
get the firmware only file here >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880
Flash the 5.0 rom from the At&t thread in Safestrap or Flashfire however you choose.
Boot Directly to download mode. (if using flashfire be sure to select reboot to download)
Flash the OC4 retail Firmware only using odin once it reboots unplug from computer and wait for the rom to boot.
1st boot will take a while. Thats it.

I have an s7 edge sm-g935w8 (Canadian) model and I've heard on the firmware ending with APD has a battery drain bug and I'm thinking about downgrading the stock ROM to the rom ending in APB. I downloaded the ROM but the site didn't specify which carrier it is for. I am on Rogers but I'm wondering if it turns out to be a bell ROM it would still work. I compared a rogers ROM and bell ROM and they have the exact file name. So can anyone confirm its OK to flash? I don't want to brick it. I read somewhere that all the Canadian Roms are the same.

Hey all.
I have searched and cannot find a specific answer.
I am switching from AT&T to T-Mobile. I have unlocked my device, i want to be able to flash the T-Mobile stock rom on my at&t variant.
Is this possible and how?
Thanks in advance.

The ideas I'd try is first try to directly flash the Tmo firmware through Odin or Smartswitch. The other idea would be to go from At&t to U firmware and then to Tmo if the first didn't work, but I'm not sure if there would be any complications.
Ok so dumb question but I figured I'd ask. If I use Odin do I need to root?

No, you do not. Odin is worked through the PC to your phone which is in download mode.
so just to recap ...
no need to root.
just use odin with the stock tmobile rom, and flash it. and it essentially makes this phone a tmobile device being that i am sim unlocked??

Yeah but double check smart switch first. I'm wondering if you put in a T-Mobile SIM if it'll do the dirty work for you. With Odin you may also need a PIT file. Just double check on that as well.

ok, so can you elaborate? i thought the Samsung smart switch was for just transferring content of the device, not carriers. not to sound like a noob but my gs7 edge is the at&t variant.
Also where can I get a PIT file.
one last question.
i downloaded the stock rom, unzipped it. will i need to flash all the respective files in the .zip through odin?

It does transfer content but it also can reinstall firmware. I'm not sure if it'll help carrier variant switch over, but if it does I'm sure it's better than messing with Odin if you don't have to.
Ok got ya. So do I need to flash all the files in the stock zip or just the home one if I use Odin?
Update.
I got it to work.
I had to use the prince comey Odin and flash all the files. Worked like a charm.

You can flash any US carrier s7 (edge or flat) factory image to any s7 as long as the bootloader is the same version, or if the version you are flashing is higher. You just cant flash to a lower bootloader version. Been this way since s7 released. I've been running the Verizon nougat and t mobile nougat on my ATT s7 edge and they both work wonderfully. I also found the stock t-mobile firmware ran better on my ATT phone than ATT firmware. No root required. Just research bootloader version before doing this. Right now they are all on v4 so no issues.
For those that need the Odin files and don't want to wait on sammobile's slow download speeds.

Have a question here, we get a lot of US imported phones here in Pakistan, mostly AT&T and Verizon S7 edge phones.
They've got carrier bloat and whatnot, I remember reading people flashing Verizon ROMs to get that to work properly on their AT&T phone and flashing AT&T on a T-Mobile phone to get that to work properly, so if one flashes a G935U firmware on a G935V, is it expected to work fine and act as an ordinary Snapdragon 820 S7 edge with no carrier bloat or anything?
All replies will be appreciated.
Thanks

I have, but there have been reports of it not working for some people as well, so I wanted to know if it's a legit method or if it's trial and error and it works for some and it doesn't work for others, because if it does work officially, then it'd solve a huge headache on choosing US variant phones here and we can all relax since the 935U firmware can be flashed on carrier branded phones.
Now, I need to get my hands on an American S7 edge to test this out myself.
Off course without testing nothing can be confirmed ... But most people r too faint hearted to try it

All of them. AP includes the system, recovery and cache, CP includes modem, BL includes bootloader, and CSC includes sales code.
The ROMs for S7 usually come with CSC and HOME_CSC, the latter will not wipe your device and keep the Verizon CSC which may cause issues and require you to factory reset your phone, the normal CSC files wipes the data and switches your CSC to the new one you're trying to flash.
Choose whichever one you want but I'd suggest the normal CSC just to be safe.

The main issue with me was poor battery life which was resolved when I reverted back to marshmallow. But I have yet to test the battery life on nougat. Other than this, phone is running smoothly and it feels light now due to no bloatware.

id like to know can i flash the 930u on a metropcs 930t1
Have been trying all day to load 935u on my sprint phone and it loads but it just boots into the same sprint firmware, anyway for me to change this?
Just tried to redo this, so maybe i was mistaken that it loaded....FAILS at installing boot.

You probably can, try it out, worst case scenario it fails and you'll just boot back into your normal MetroPCS firmware.
