Hey all.
I have searched and cannot find a specific answer.
I am switching from AT&T to T-Mobile. I have unlocked my device, i want to be able to flash the T-Mobile stock rom on my at&t variant.
Is this possible and how?
Thanks in advance.
Ryan
The ideas I'd try is first try to directly flash the Tmo firmware through Odin or Smartswitch. The other idea would be to go from At&t to U firmware and then to Tmo if the first didn't work, but I'm not sure if there would be any complications.
Ok so dumb question but I figured I'd ask. If I use Odin do I need to root?

No, you do not. Odin is worked through the PC to your phone which is in download mode.
so just to recap ...
no need to root.
just use odin with the stock tmobile rom, and flash it. and it essentially makes this phone a tmobile device being that i am sim unlocked??

Yeah but double check smart switch first. I'm wondering if you put in a T-Mobile SIM if it'll do the dirty work for you. With Odin you may also need a PIT file. Just double check on that as well.

ok, so can you elaborate? i thought the Samsung smart switch was for just transferring content of the device, not carriers. not to sound like a noob but my gs7 edge is the at&t variant.
Also where can I get a PIT file.
one last question.
i downloaded the stock rom, unzipped it. will i need to flash all the respective files in the .zip through odin?

It does transfer content but it also can reinstall firmware. I'm not sure if it'll help carrier variant switch over, but if it does I'm sure it's better than messing with Odin if you don't have to.
Ok got ya. So do I need to flash all the files in the stock zip or just the home one if I use Odin?
Update.
I got it to work.
I had to use the prince comey Odin and flash all the files. Worked like a charm.
So you flashed t-mobile official Odin restore to the G935A? First I hear of something like this happening. Post screenshots

There's several threads with people doing this. I have the 935a, with 935u firmware, and the T-Mobile modem. I'm only sim unlocked. No root, no unlocking, no nothing. Device is 100% better. Better battery, download speeds, reception, and no boat at all.

You can flash any US carrier s7 (edge or flat) factory image to any s7 as long as the bootloader is the same version, or if the version you are flashing is higher. You just cant flash to a lower bootloader version. Been this way since s7 released. I've been running the Verizon nougat and t mobile nougat on my ATT s7 edge and they both work wonderfully. I also found the stock t-mobile firmware ran better on my ATT phone than ATT firmware. No root required. Just research bootloader version before doing this. Right now they are all on v4 so no issues.

Seems like the only recovery is see in TWRP is for the edge or international versions of the model, so I'm having a hard time adding a recovery. Can anyone help??? I'd greatly appreciate it.
No...the phone just got root and the bootloader is really locked down. No one saw us getting root, so who knows what can happen.

FlashFire is the compatible recovery. There are two ROMs for the Verizon S7 Edge. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/development I have personally verified that the PlayStore ROM posted for the Edge will work on the S7 flat.
I should mention that you need to be on the U firmware prior to flashing those ROMs. The ROM also installs the G935 engineering kernel, so you need to flash the G930 boot kernel with Odin afterwards. I can make a write-up later if there is any interest.
I can even modify his ROM with the correct build.prop and kernel for the G930V.
How's the stability and finctionality?
A guide would be awesome. How do I get it up and running lol.

If you intend to root it, then you still need to use the same engineering kernel. I will say that before I rooted the U-firmware, the phone was much smoother and faster in stock form than the stock Verizon firmware.

Not just the kernel alone. Flash the U firmware and you will be able to select any band, as long as the radio is in the phone for it.

Thanks. Is it the G930U or G935U firmware that's needed? I'm guessing the Edge U firmware is what you're speaking of.. is it a simple flash? I'm running PE1 rooted at the moment.

OK I just accessed service mode on the PE1 firmware.. no Band 12 or 17 option. I'll flash the 930U firmware and attempt again to see if there's a difference at all.
Also, is rooting the 930U firmware the same as the PE1 firmware process?
Sorry for hijacking this thread.

Did you flash the 930U firmware on a flat S7 or edge Verizon variant device. I have a rooted Verizon device and using it on T-Mobile.

Can you pm or reply here on how you managed thanks
G930v custom recovery pass dm verity
Can someone point me in the direction of a thread to install custom recovery on the Verizon varient S7? Say hypothetically I could pass the dm-verity check.
How would I go about implementing the pass to install a custom recovery.
Hey XDA,
I just recently purchased a AT&T S7 (SM-G930A). I also just recently found out that AT&T doesn't push updates to non AT&T network phones. I am using the phone with T-Mobile and I was wondering if it was possible to flash the T-Mobile stock rom without tripping Knox or anything of that sort. I remember being able to do this to my AT&T Note 2 back in the day. If it is possible, can someone kindly link me to the file and instructions on how to flash the stock ROM from T-Mobile? Thanks!
You can, however once you do you can't go back. It may be possible in the future, but Tmobile has a v3 bootloader, and AT&T is still on v2 bootloader.

Thank you! One more question, I have the stock T-Mobile ROM and for the CSC, there are two files:
CSC and HOME_CSC
Which one do I choose in Odin for the CSC option?
Thanks
When attempting to flash using Odin 3.12.3, I get this error in the log:
FAIL! SHA256 is invalid
This seems to be because of a corrupt file?
I downloaded the ROM from two different sources now and still I get the same error.
Thanks

So TMobile ROM on 930A . Any issues ? Did you try going back to AT&T ROM
All that talk out bootloader versions and not able to restore back to AT&T ROM
Can you odin Unlocked 930U version ?
I'm using Cricket on AT&T S7 variant and I couldn't get any update from AT&T, which pissed me off. So I decided to flash G930U firmware and I succeeded. But unfortunately, there isn't a single G930U update been released so far, which is quite surprising.
Other than the update, I'm extremely satisfied with the new firmware. It's so fast and clean comparing to my previous bloated AT&T firmware, free of all kinds of overheating, battery dropping, slowing down, crashing, auto-restarting, bugs and lags (Just so you know, my G930A firmware was the newest. I had to take my phone to Best Buy to update. And I used PDP to disable bloatwares). I highly recommend everyone to flash G930U. The new firmware also has an APP called Samsung+. It's very useful and it tells you if it detected slow charging, or reminds you to restart your phone if it hasn't been restarted for a while, etc.
I'm still wondering if I can receive OTA after flashing anther variant firmware, but I can't confirm since there's no update for G930U yet. I'm curious to know if OP could receive any T-Mobile update after flashing.

I flashed to the latest update of the ROM so I can't prove it works. But from what I've heard, after flashing the ROM you need to factory reset the phone so it can unregister from att and register to whatever carrier you are using it on. I am not sure how true this is but I read it somewhere and it seems to make sense.

I was also able to flash the 930T on my 930A. I saw there was a Note 7 port but you need root and TWRP. Haven't tried flashing back to 930U yet, but thinking about it.
Does anyone have the AT&T variant ( or a link ) of the stock firmware for the G950U? Also.. could someone please explain how to go about flashing it over? I have a Verizon G950U.. my old Verizon S7 Edge I flashed to the AT&T firmware but it was much simpler... I used odin and just put in the 4 files ( AP, BL, CP, & CSC_ATT ) ... but after reading quite a few threads on here.... it appears to be a much more complicated process with the S8.

Can you pretty please link the latest Revision 2 AT&T G950U Firmware? I cannot seem to find the Revision 2 Dec 20th Updated Release Build. I am pretty sure the build number is G950USQU2BQK5 but I have access to all the other variants on this update just cannot find the damn ATT version. I keep getting errored out writing the G950U1 XAA firmware, the G950U on all other carriers I get errors on it as well. I tried using Odin Comsy, Odin 3.12.7, 3.12.3 patched 256 version, 3.12.7, and even using the Z3X Samsung Tool Pro to reflash the firmware. I got one to finally take using all 5 files on G950U TMB but now the baseband is unknown and I cannot see the IMEI either. Anyone have any suggestions, I would highly appreciate that....
Flash QK5. It's for all carriers and installs proper carrier files and settings depending on the SIM you have installed. Use Prince Comsy Odin.

Me too, after latest OTA.
Hello guys, I have just now heard that At&T is rolling out the Android Pie update to the S8 Active. Unfortunately, I do not have a AT&T SIM card on my device currently. This causes my phone to not get ANY updates. The only update I last got was when I sent my phone to a Samsung Technician after I bricked my phone from failed root attempts. I am currently in Android 8.0.0. Is there any way to flash any Pie firmware to my phone even though it is Bootloader v3? Any help is GREATLY appreciated as I am getting so tired of Oreo. I tried using Smart Switch but it says my phone is in the latest firmware update which is a lie, my security patch level is July 2018...
Edit: I have recently unlocked my phone from AT&T in hopes of getting an update, but I didn't know the firmware would stay. And no, I do not have ANY access to AT&T SIM cards or stores.
Edit 2: Solved! I just used a firmware download I got from this forum because sammobile.com did not have it here it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bw-cYNY1KoEH4Pa-a9dJRQJW09r_uw93/view Just flash this firmware to your phone from Odin! This does not risk breaking or voiding your warranty if you still have one! I am enjoying Pie right now! Give thanks to the who supplied me with the firmware link and youdoofus who actually responded to me. I just wanted to be assured that the firmware that is Pie will be good for my device. This is for people who do not have ATT SIM on their phone or cannot receive update. Model number must be from ATT and SM-G892A!

the problem youre going to run into is the availability of firmwares for your phone. sammobile.com/firmwares was a bust, looking elsewhere for ya. But if you have a computer, usb type-c cable Odin and the correct firmware version and are able to get to download mode, then you should be in good shape.
So I have a firmware at hand with my phone model that is pie, if I update it through Odin, will it void my warranty? Or will there be any chance it will brick my phone because I have done this many times. If it wasn't for ATT bootloader v3 I would've not been asking all these questions. I have already used sammobile.

Since its just an update, you are able to keep your data if you put HOME_CSC in the bottom box. So, yes use every file if you want to keep your data. If not, put CSC where its supposed to be and thats it. I don't have access to my computer but thats what I did. You don't need factory reset. Just go to any "How to Install Any Firmware Update through Odin" Video on YouTube and you should see a good tutorial. It is just an update. I hope I fixed you problem! Don't be nervous about updating, only be nervous when you flash a ROM on it!

Some tips before flashing? Did you flash every file on the .zip archive? (BL_ , AP_ , CSC and so?)
Factory reset before/after flashing?

nothing other than having the correct version of Odin for your phone and ADB drivers installed along with the correct firmware files. And yes the Home_CSC is to not factory reset, and the regular CSC is to factory reset it
PIT Error
I tried flashing the files you provided, but it keeps failing on "Get PIT for Mapping". I tried 4 times and every one failed on the same part. I am on the exact same baseband version you were on, the provider is AT&T and the phone is unlocked. I don't get what the problem is...

you need to go into the CSC file and extract the PIT. once extracted, go into the other options in Odin and put the pit in its slot, then reflash with the CSC you got the PIT from in its proper place along with the others.

The CSC is just a compressed file, so WinRAR will do it if 7zip doesnt

I did that but it didn't change anything. Do I need to remove the pit file from the CSC file?

I have bought SM-G988U phone which is sprint locked. If i try to flash the phone with the unlocked U1 model would this unlock the phone or not?
Sorry For this but i'm still a beginner and don't know if this would fix my problem. If not, then what would you recommend please?
As far as I know it's safe....but as with anything involving modding your phone....be careful as one misstep could cost you.
Hey dude, I can confirm U1 works great on Sprint devices, currently using it and still getting access to the t-mobile 5g networks here in LA.

No, it will not Sprint device Network unlocked. Your device will still be Sprint locked. I do believe this model will actually fail if you flash in Odin. Sprint pretty much puts an MDM on their devices now preventing firmware flashing. If it does flash by chance, it will just remove Sprint's bloatware apps.

Thank you! Is it the same case with ATT phone?
Tried to flash Sprint S20 Ultra to U1 in Odin and no go. How might I accomplish this flash with the U1 firmware. I've got the package file already.

Successfully flashed.
I have a Sprint S20 Ultra. I'm currently on Sprints latest firmware ATE6. I downloaded ATEC which is Junes security update with USC carrier. It is U firmware as well. I am trying to flash in Odin and I keep getting a fail. Any ideas if Sprint has now implemented something to prevent flashing of other carriers firmware? I never had issues with my S10+. This is the first time I am trying to flash firmware with my S20 Ultra. Help please
sigh. all you need is the latest patched odin and you can flash the u1 or other carrier u firmware.
i flashed the att U firmware to xaa U1 firmware. and then flashed to TMB U firmware
dont listen to other people who havent been in the odin game.

patched one
I used the patched 3.13.1 version. Yes it is safe, I'm running the Sprint version UI firmware. Originally tried with 3.14.1 and failed 3x's. Also tried the full International UI firmware unbranded with the 3.13.1 patched firmware and the phone would get stuck on the SAMSUNG logo. My phone is sim locked to Sprint though and that's why I think it wouldn't boot the full unlocked version. The Sprint branded version worked like a charm.
