I have a bunch of app data backups (made on my Note 4 with Titanium) that I want to restore on the S7E. How can I restore those without having to root my new phone? Ive searched google and XDA and havent been able to find an answer.

Don't think you can. Do you still have the Note 4 in your possession? If so, you can make a backup using Helium and use Helium on the GS7 Edge to restore. I've been using Helium ever since I've stopped rooting my phones.

My N4 is coming Wednesday, I want to root it and flash the Xylon rom to it... only, last time I rooted was with the Droid 1 and I stayed stock...
My question is do I need to do an initial setup backup then root and flash the rom or can I backup then root then flash the rom and use that as my first setup?
You cannot backup without having root first. So you will lose everything. When you unlock the bootloader, everything gets deleted. That's why when you first get the phone you should root it. Then if you like you can backup the ROM in case that you ever want to go back to stock.

I would like to correct you there. You can backup app data using Koush's Carbon app, which you can find on Google Play. Made by the same guy behind CWM. A very simple app that uses some sort of loophole to make backups even on non-rooted devices.

Just checking to see if anyone is using Rom Toolbox pro and if they noticed any issues restoring data for applications.
Maybe this is an issue as I am trying to restore data from my HTC EVO 4g LTE to my new S4 but I would think that it would work on at least one or two applications. I'm running the updated MDL updates, rooted using CH and TWRP recovery. I installed Rom Toolbox PRO to restore all my backups from my EVO. The applications restore perfectly. However it gives an error trying to restore any data. Just says data restore failed.
Anyone been able to restore data from another phone using this method? I've never encountered this going across other platforms before.
I am having a similar problem
I am having similar issues too. But in my case, I am not able to restore on my own device. I have backed up my app+data on my Nexus 4 running 4.2.2 Paranoid Android ROM. But I am not able to restore it on the 4.3 PA ROM.
I have emailed Jared Rummler about this, and one of the staff member replied hinting that there may be a fix in the next version that might come sometime next week.
Did anyone else face the same problem?

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that MDL does not have apps2sd functionality? Maybe it would work better with MF9. Probably not the issue but figured I would throw that out there.
I am on mdl and tried restoring when I went to blue kuban, no dice. Lame

Hi
Just moved to Nexus 4 from rooted Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.
On the old rooted GT-I9000, whenever I did a wipe and reinstalled new roms, simply a google sign in will pull down all my previously installed apps and most of my data. But when I got my Nexus 4 today with stock 4.3 rom, signing in just set up my google account but no apps nor data were being restored. What should I do? Did I miss something. This is a FABULOUS phone compared to my old one.
Tnx
Did you try titanium backup?

I got Titanium Backup Pro on my old phone, but isn't that required a rooted phone? In intend to use my Nexus 4 stock unrooted.
Just wondering why apps and data weren't automatically pushed to my phone like it used to on my old one.
I think Helium by Clockwork works without root, can you try it?

When you run the setup on the nexus 4 and sign in your Google account, there should've been the option to save the phone to your Google account and restore data
But now you could just use Helium (Carbon) backup

Ever since I know of Helium backup, I found no need to root my phone anymore just for TB.

Hello new member here. I'm wondering, can I perform a factory reset on my towel rooted VZW Note 3, and keep root? Also will this soft brick my phone?
Thanks!

Personally, I would not. You may risk getting brick. Why do you want to reset your phone?

I'm having troubles with my ext sd RW permissions. This was after I attempted to install safestrap. But safestrap did not install correctly I don't think and it caused my phone to have random restarts.

If you have twrp installed I would try to flash a new rom or a stock Rom for your phone. That should fix the problem. You can always backup your apps and data with titanium backup. And make sure you back up your contacts. Also just make a backup in twrp of it current rom. Just to be sure

From everything I have found you cannot put cwrp/twrp on a verizon note 3. Do you have a link to a forum that u haven't seen?
