I'm using my at&t sim in a Verizon phone. Would I use Verizon roms or AT&T?
I used a T-Mobile similar in a VzW G2, with cloudyG3 ROM. You have to choose a rom that supports your phone model (vs980). Beyond that, there are some flashable files to support lte. Look for lte modem, G2.

What do you recommend for vs980 kernel?
The CloudyG3 ROM that I used on the vs980 (v 2.0, which is KK based) installs with an optimized kernel, which I found to do well with easing battery drain. It has an "Eco-mode" option which shows up in the pull down status screen alongside Wifi, Airplane Mode, etc. I usually have no trouble with my battery charge lasting throughout the day, despite still using the original battery (2+ yrs old), although I am watchful of my screen backlight brightness, etc.
Also have it installed on my T-mo G2 D801.
If you're into tweaking your kernel performance, then try Dorimanx. It seemed to play well with CloudyG3. Cloudy kernel is also available as a separate flashable zip, so you van go back to it w/o having to re-flash the ROM.
One thing to note is that there are CloudyG3 ROMs out there which are indeed for the G3 rather than G2. I believe that those are named CloudyG3 v 2.2 and above, but that's from memory, so be sure to read the details before flashing.

Hello,
I recently got the Nexus 4 and I love it except for the battery life.
I was wondering if there were any roms that would retain the stock feel (no other features added) and have great battery life?
I have also not rooted my phone and installed recovery so if someone could guide me, then that would be appreciated.
Thanks!
MiNCO v6 ROM is what you want.

ROM has little or nothing to do with battery life. You can keep the stock ROM and just use a custom kernel like Franco or faux.

Personally I think LG' s skin is very very good... I came from the gnex and I'm very used to aosp roms. I think LG actually did a great job... enough of that☺...
I'd use the LG flash tool to go back to 11a then root that with what you've found then flash away whatever you'd like. There's been a few issues with 12b for some reason as far as flashing roms... hopefully a couple others will chime in but that's my 2 cents...

what is the name of the tool and how do i do it and where are the firmwares and what kind of problems?
Hello everyone,
I unfortunately installed the OTA US Sprint 4.4.2 update over the weekend, not realizing that it would essentially making it impossible for me to use my most frequented app, Backcountry Navigator (GPS mapping software), due to 4.4.2 not allowing apps to write or read data on a secondary external sd card. The reason being is that with this app, you typically download and store map files, which I previously had around 25 GB saved on my external card. Now with 4.4.2. it's requiring me to use the internal storage. So, this makes the phone useless for my needs. Is there anyway I can revert to 4.2.2 or install a custom rom based on 4.2.2 so that I can regain the app permission of Write_External_Storage?
Sure....just flash Stockist v6...it's mk2.....are you rooted?

No, phone isn't rooted yet. I'm actually quite new to learning about custom roms - I guess it's time to learn! Thanks for the reply.

hello. I had upgraded to 4.4 via ota nae. I could revert to 4.3 by Stockist mk2 v6. the problem is that now I have 4.3 but the baseband version appears as nae version of the software and also as nae. any ideas? can now flash it with the stock rom mk2?
Custom roms do not come with modems (baseband) you have to flash that separately. Unknownforce has a thread where all the modems are located.

Well once you took that NAE OTA your phone is now stuck there. You can only root it , install custom recovery, and then flash an mk2 based ROM like I think you already have.
But you cannot get your phone back to how it was prior to that update, stock mk2 with no root no custom recovery... Follow me?

So I'm currently running my note 3 with hyperdrive rom in the stock slot and alliancerom in rom slot 1, due to not setting up alliance properly and wanting to move some things around i'd like to move hyperdrive to stock slot 1, install a base nc2 standard android onto stock slot (so its properly stock haha) and then install a slim rom on slot 2. my question is, can I just do a full backup of stock slot, and then restore it to slot 1, i mean its kind of like copy paste but obviously things aren't always that simple, so would this work? Or how could I move my ROM without completely re installing it. thanks guys!
First off I believe they say the rom slots don't work properly so I would suggest just finding the rom you want to use and install it on stock slot and leave the rom slots alone but if you want to use them I'm sure just making a backup of the roms then installing them where you want won't hurt.

I assume they work because I have a rom in rom slot 1 that works, granted I haven't used it for more than 10 hours or so combined but it works...
I could be wrong but I believe there are wake lock issues causing bad battery life.

Ah damn, oh well I guess its just easier to leave my daily driver in the stock slot, I want to install another rom to a rom slot, I'll honestly be using it like 1 hour per month or something so I dont care about battery life at all, would this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2768055 work on my phone which is running an NC2 rom right now, the rom says its nc4 but i'm not sure if there is a previous version.
Yes you can. There's a nc2/nc4 kernel out there somewhere but can't remember where. I'm at work right now but when I get a chance I'll look around.

Few questions here, so when I go to the biggins rom page it says that if you were coming from NC2 / MJE you would install a different md5 than the one you linked, also what would happen if i just tried to install the nc4 objective rom right now into one of my rom slots, worst case scenario it just wouldnt boot and i could go back to recovery and change back to one of my nc2 roms right?
I don't believe there's a big difference in nc2 and nc4. They are both able to be rooted so I would just upgrade to nc4 (be careful that it doesn't upgrade you to 4.4.4 after you upgrade to nc4) and be done with it.

Well I want to use my hyperdrive NC2 still as daily driver, but I want to try out the objective nc4, I just flashed objective onto rom slot 2 and it booted but it didnt work it seems, as though it still has all my data from the other rom, guess that doesnt work haha. And it crashed com.android.phone and the os after a while.
I just breezed through hyperdrive's thread and there's nothing in there that says anything about being on nc2 or nc4. Just that you need to be on 4.4.x kitkat.

Hi,
The samsung Galaxy s5 seems to be the hardest device to flash roms on compared to all the other android tablets and phones i've owned,
nothing seems to work properly aha. I tried installing an omega rom v1.8 which didn't work at all so i gave up and thought do they have a cyanogenmod ROM for Samsung Galaxy S5 and installed Lollipop (5.0) and i like it apart from no fingerprint scanner functionality which was lack of research on my behalf and the home button won't wake the screen up (have to use power button)
i thought why not try going to 6.0.x (Marshmallow) and i always get an error saying "Patching System Unconditionally" which could sit there for hours if i let it, im unsure if i have to update my bootloader? but it should be fine

ill transfer them onto my SD card and ill boot into recovery,
ill then factory and wipe data and cache$

Hi!
I think you must provide more information to us in order to help you.
Tell us:
is your ROM stock running without problems?
Which ROM stock version is running without problems?
if you want to flash a MM custom ROM, you must flash first a stock MM ROM (ODIN flash can modify PIT, partitions size, etc)
I was running a LP ROM stock version, then try to flash RR MM and it wasn't able to run
I flashed by ODIN samsung stock MM, then flash RR MM and run without problems!
The only problem i encountered with the stock ROM was it was sluggish with the amount of crap i had on the phone (alot of pics and apps)
Lollipop Android 5.0 G900IDVU1BOJ1 For the Australian Samsung Galaxy s5 (Optus but unlocked from stock)
i initially did flash a stock ROM using Odin and then using TWRP i factory Reset, Dalvalik, Cache and internal storage.
and are you saying flash the 6.0 Stock on the phone then try to do the Cyanogen mod ROM afterwards??
Thanks heaps
I don't know much about the g900i is it basically a g900f that works in Australia?
