Moving a ROM to a different slot in safestrap 3.75 - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm currently running my note 3 with hyperdrive rom in the stock slot and alliancerom in rom slot 1, due to not setting up alliance properly and wanting to move some things around i'd like to move hyperdrive to stock slot 1, install a base nc2 standard android onto stock slot (so its properly stock haha) and then install a slim rom on slot 2. my question is, can I just do a full backup of stock slot, and then restore it to slot 1, i mean its kind of like copy paste but obviously things aren't always that simple, so would this work? Or how could I move my ROM without completely re installing it. thanks guys!

First off I believe they say the rom slots don't work properly so I would suggest just finding the rom you want to use and install it on stock slot and leave the rom slots alone but if you want to use them I'm sure just making a backup of the roms then installing them where you want won't hurt.

I assume they work because I have a rom in rom slot 1 that works, granted I haven't used it for more than 10 hours or so combined but it works...

I could be wrong but I believe there are wake lock issues causing bad battery life.

Ah damn, oh well I guess its just easier to leave my daily driver in the stock slot, I want to install another rom to a rom slot, I'll honestly be using it like 1 hour per month or something so I dont care about battery life at all, would this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2768055 work on my phone which is running an NC2 rom right now, the rom says its nc4 but i'm not sure if there is a previous version.

Yes you can. There's a nc2/nc4 kernel out there somewhere but can't remember where. I'm at work right now but when I get a chance I'll look around.

Few questions here, so when I go to the biggins rom page it says that if you were coming from NC2 / MJE you would install a different md5 than the one you linked, also what would happen if i just tried to install the nc4 objective rom right now into one of my rom slots, worst case scenario it just wouldnt boot and i could go back to recovery and change back to one of my nc2 roms right?

I don't believe there's a big difference in nc2 and nc4. They are both able to be rooted so I would just upgrade to nc4 (be careful that it doesn't upgrade you to 4.4.4 after you upgrade to nc4) and be done with it.

Well I want to use my hyperdrive NC2 still as daily driver, but I want to try out the objective nc4, I just flashed objective onto rom slot 2 and it booted but it didnt work it seems, as though it still has all my data from the other rom, guess that doesnt work haha. And it crashed com.android.phone and the os after a while.

I just breezed through hyperdrive's thread and there's nothing in there that says anything about being on nc2 or nc4. Just that you need to be on 4.4.x kitkat.

Lost cellular data on stock rom slot (HELP!!!)

Hello All,
So, I successfully installed safestrap on my rooted gs4 with MK2. I was able to install hyperdrive rls12 and was able to text and make calls. I tried fixing the wifi by flashing some modules and now I don't have any cellular data when booting back into the stock rom. baseband shows empty, no calls, texts etc.
I have no clue what to do and how I can fix it, nor how I managed to mess up the stock rom slot.
Please help.
Thanks

You will need to manually place the modules in /system/lib/modules, to get wifi to work.

Thanks Graydiggy,
Do I have to do this from safestrap or can I do it while having the phone booted into a rom?
Use a root Explorer in the ROM to do it. It may or may not work. Some phones are iffy.

I have es file explorer, but I get an error saying task failed. Read only or something. Don't have the exact error. can't rename, delete or move the original file.
Use Solid Explorer. I used to use ES but have found Solid to be ten times better.

[Q] How to revert from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2

Hello everyone,
I unfortunately installed the OTA US Sprint 4.4.2 update over the weekend, not realizing that it would essentially making it impossible for me to use my most frequented app, Backcountry Navigator (GPS mapping software), due to 4.4.2 not allowing apps to write or read data on a secondary external sd card. The reason being is that with this app, you typically download and store map files, which I previously had around 25 GB saved on my external card. Now with 4.4.2. it's requiring me to use the internal storage. So, this makes the phone useless for my needs. Is there anyway I can revert to 4.2.2 or install a custom rom based on 4.2.2 so that I can regain the app permission of Write_External_Storage?
Sure....just flash Stockist v6...it's mk2.....are you rooted?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
No, phone isn't rooted yet. I'm actually quite new to learning about custom roms - I guess it's time to learn! Thanks for the reply.

hello. I had upgraded to 4.4 via ota nae. I could revert to 4.3 by Stockist mk2 v6. the problem is that now I have 4.3 but the baseband version appears as nae version of the software and also as nae. any ideas? can now flash it with the stock rom mk2?
Custom roms do not come with modems (baseband) you have to flash that separately. Unknownforce has a thread where all the modems are located.

Well once you took that NAE OTA your phone is now stuck there. You can only root it , install custom recovery, and then flash an mk2 based ROM like I think you already have.
But you cannot get your phone back to how it was prior to that update, stock mk2 with no root no custom recovery... Follow me?

Modem

Hello xda community,
Over the weekend I flashed MIUI rom on my N900 note 3, for that to work properly I had to flash a different modem.
So I switched modem (baseband?) from N900UBUDNC1 to N900XXUENE1.
Now my problem is that I can't find any way to download the modem N900UBUDNC1. I've been searching for hours.
If I reflash my stock firmware I don't have carrier signal because I still have the N900XXUENE1 modem installed.
Modems are generally hard to come by, you will have to download the whole firmware and extract just the modem from it. It's probably going to take time but what choice do you have.

I searched for hours, trust me :|
I appreciate your help, I'll try this afternoon when I get home. I have the stock 4.4.2 firmware which I always use when I need to start from scratch. I'll extract that one and see if I can find the modem file there.
EDIT: will any NC1 modem work, or does it have to be specifically the one I originally had?
Sorry, I'm wrong guy to ask, hope it goes well, flash away!
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Ok, I've tried for some more hours yesterday, but couldn't get it to work. Tried Odin and also CWM.
It still doesn't work with stock rom... but when I go back to flashing MIUI + N900XXUENE1 modem (through CWM, first rom, then modem), I once again get signal.
I downloaded the latest firmware from sammobile (about 1.2GB) and from what I saw there, I should have modem N900UBUDNC1, but after succesfully flashing it, I have no signal, unknown baseband and IMEI
I'm sorry if this is kinda obvious, but I can't seem to get it to work. Luckily I am happy with MIUI, but I want to be sure there's a way to get back to stock.

[Q] Note 3 [SM-N900P] special brick. Dire need of assistance.

Hello, I know for a fact that there are other "help me! I bricked my note 3" threads out there, but I have concluded that I find myself in quite a specially convoluted situation.
All the following occurred with me coming from a stock 4.3 rooted rom.
My story begins when I attempted to flash Fre3 4.4.2 ROM using TWRP. The rom included the"beastmode" kernel. Well, after flashing I ended up stuck in the bootloader screen with a "Set warranty bit: kernel" error. Being such a huge noob as I am, I googled for a solution to this, and I ended up with a flashable .zip that was supposed to fix such kernel issue, upon inspection of the zip file I found a clean_efs.sh script. Then again, being such a noob I had no Idea what "efs" meant, and against my better judgement, I had flashed it anyway..
Long story short the previous made me end up with a bootloop, which prompted me to restore my nandroid from my stock 4.3 rom... At first It would give me an error regarding the MD5 checksums, it prompted me to disable md5 verification, which WAS disabled, yet the same error persisted..
As a last resort I tried to use ODIN 3.07 with the stock 4.3 release, it was flashed successfully, but as soon as it got to the "Sprint" bootlogo, it would reboot itself into an infinite loop.. Afterwards I tried to do a data/wipe/factory reset form the stock recovery which was done successfully. Afterwards the phone booted past the sprint logo and all i could see was: The status bar with the signal bars with a red cross, a completely black screen, and a dreaded "Process system is not responding" dialog. Tapping on "wait" or "stop" just closed the dialog and the phone rebooted regardless.
I am pretty much stuck at this point... Please I beseech whoever has solved such an issue to help me, I am not really able to afford another note 3, but I can afford to reward anyone that can help me solve this(that desperate I am:fingers-crossed...
And to make matters worse, I am getting the galaxy gear for Xmas....go figure..
P.S. I still have a NANDroid of my beloved 4.3 and it does have an EFS backup, I have no way of knowing if it is corrupted or not... Also I'll attach the "clean_efs" zip so you can tell me how a huge noob I am(not really just for reference)...
Are you on the 4.4 bootloader? It's needed to boot Touchwiz 4.4.
Flash a TW 4.4 ROM via Odin, wipe data and restore EFS.

The last (successful) ROM flash since this mess was literally years ago with my HTC supersonic, so sorry if i sound like a total noob but, can you elaborate? How do i find out what version of boot loader I am on? With flash a TW 4.4 ROM do you mean a recovery? I already odin'd the 4.4.2 stock wonder if the recovery would make a difference? Also since its a stock ROM need i not to be rooted for everything to work properly?
Sorry for the total noobness but i think that's the best way to approach it so not to get anything wrong..

I understand your concern i bricked my vibrant long ago and i bricked another note 2 long ago so i learned when to be scared and when to be relaxed about it if the keys doesnt work now its probably since your phone wont boot normaly so it can't detect it properly thats why we gona use odin and flash the firmware on it and that will get you booted back up so then kies will see the phone and it will boot it to download mode on its own and do the update ,once thats done you can root it install custom recovery and such .

I really do not mind, whichever might render less issues is OK..as long as it can be rooted safely and supports xposed.. But is kies going to fix the efs? How will it do that? I thought imei/data in efs is unique..
It fixed mine i lost my whole efs folder and i went from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 via kies and when i rooted my phone i checked and there it was efs folder with everything in it.Im running 4.4.4 with xposed and blu x 2 theme made for this rom and i have zero issues ( knock on wood) lol

TWRP fail..
Funny, in the past I turned my SL101 into an expensive brick by using CWM...and now its the abslute opposite...I have Odin flashed every recovery herehttps://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/hltespr/and none detect the efs partiton on my phone....whenever I yap on "Restore" and choose my backup the log reads" E: Unable to locate partition by backup name: 'efs'
Its because it got corrupted ...how i got no clue mine did the same once u get phone up and running we will use keies to flash original unrooted to get you efs back than root etc

[Q] Is there an easier way to root the Lollipop build, regardless of Knox tripping?

Yes, I'm aware of the SafeStrap/SD card method, but it's horribly inconvenient, especially since it wipes your phone. I'm near the end of my warranty anyway so tripping Knox doesn't matter to me. Is there an easier method to root, even if it does trip Knox?
I was reading that a root method for the Note 4 on VZW is coming out soon, and they said it works on the S5 Lollipop, but until it's out, no.
Makes sense, I figured the next (convenient) root solution would come from there or perhaps the S6. Guess I'll keep rolling with 4.4.4 until an easier solution pops up.
It doesn't wipe your phone, it reflashes the kernel and installs bloatware

Yeah I guess you're right. I was already rooted when I downgraded, so I guess I just restored from TB
Ironically, this morning I bit the bullet and updated using Safestrap. So far so good.
