The 2012 Mobile Choice Awards was held last night in London, and Samsung came out on top with the Galaxy S III winning best smartphone for 2012. We should note that the iPhone 5 wasn’t part of the festivities, but I’m confident the GSIII would still be the winner. As to tablets, not surprisingly the iPad won, but the Nexus 7 was a close second. Hit the break for all the results.
Phone of the Year:
Samsung Galaxy S III – winner
Apple iPhone 4S – runner up
HTC One X
Nokia Lumia 800
Sony Xperia S

Ah, sorry.
2010 phone of the year- HTC Desire (Galaxy S won best media phone http://jonchoo.blogspot.com/2010/10/mobile-choice-consumer-awards.html)
2011 phone of the year- Galaxy S2 (http://www.mobilechoiceuk.com/News/19972/Mobile_Choice_Consumer_Awards_2011_-_Winners.aspx)
2012 phone of the year- Galaxy S3 (http://www.talkandroid.com/135119-s...tphone-at-mobile-choice-consumer-awards-2012/)
Dont frankly like the results of the awards. First of all, the HTC one X is a much better phone than the iPhone 4s. S3 definitely is the best of what was available in the poll though, as a smartphone for the average consumer.

We have some great news for the Galaxy users in the USA! Samsung has announced the list of devices which will be updated with Android 4.4 KitKat. More than 15 Galaxy smartphones, phablets and tablets will get the KitKat treatment over the upcoming months.

Samsung is developing Android 4.4 KitKat firmware for these smartphones:
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Samsung Galaxy Note II
Samsung Galaxy S4
Samsung Galaxy S4 mini
Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom
Samsung Galaxy S III
Samsung Galaxy S III mini
Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3
Samsung Galaxy Light
And here is the list of the KitKat compatible slates:
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
The Android 4.4 KitKat firmware will speed up your Galaxy device, bring you new Hangout app which you can make the default messaging app, new location menu, other UI enhancements (new icons, monochrome status icons, etc.). We hope the Galaxy tablets will also get the new Magazine UX, which we really liked.
The availability and launch date will vary by carrier, but eventually all those devices will end up with update notifications. The official roll out starts today, probably with the most recent devices, and the entire update process should take a few months to complete.

As you know our Samsung Galaxy S6 has payment feature called Samsung Pay, similar to Apple Pay through the use of various NFC technology and receivers.
Perhpas we can discuss anything about SamPay here including country availability, reliability, operations and etc... :highfive:
So far this is what we know ...
"Samsung's Senior Director of Product Management, Shoneel Kolhatkar, said at a GS6 press event last week in New York City that Samsung Pay will not be available for the initial U.S. launch.
"This will not be ready for launch, from a go-to market strategy, but the technology and hooks will be in place, so that it's future proof," Kolhatkar said.
In other words, we don't know when Samsung Pay will be available, so it could be a while before we know all of these nitty-gritty details. "
- CIO
From the Samsung press release back on March 1st:
Samsung Pay will initially be available in the United States and Korea this coming summer and expand to other regions, including Europe and China with Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

Scheduled for September in US and South Korea.

The one thing im worried about is how the device will handle with NFC having to be on all the time to be readily accessible to use Samsung Pay?
I leave my nfc on all the time. Most phones come with it enabled and on. There is almost no battery affect from. NFC

Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are the upcoming flagships from Samsung. Till now many exciting features of the upcoming flagships from Samsung have been revealed. But just a new feature has came into light. According to Sammobile, The South Korean tech giant is planning to introduce an e-sim card feature in Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge flagships. This is a really advance movement of Samsung. E-sim card means embedded sim card. With this feature, users won't have to change sim cards when they changed carriers.
For example, when a user in the US swathed from T-Mobile to AT&T, he/she have to pay $9.99 and request new sim card from the carrier to activate the new phone. With e-sim card feature, there is no need to change sim cards when switched from one carrier to another. Till now T-Mobile parent Deutsche Telekom, AT&T, Orange, Telefonica, Vodafone, and others have agreed with Samsung to take forward this e-sim card adoption program. The carriers which don't agree with e-sim card program will be left behind. Many details about this exclusive facility will be revealed in coming days.
Galaxy S7 features 5.4 or 5.2 inches Super AMOLED display with 4K resolution. Galaxy S7 Edge is the curved variant of S7 which features dual curvy edged display. The upcoming flagship from Samsung may also feature flexible body that can bend like LG G Flex. Samsung will release Galaxy S7 in both Exynos and Snapdragon variants. It also boasts 4GB and available in 64/128 GB internal memory variants. Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge flagships will be pre-loaded with Android M along with Touchwiz user interface. Many features of the upcoming Galaxy S flagship from Samsung will be revealed soon. According to latest rumours, Samsung is going to launch its forth coming flagship in Galaxy S earlier than usual schedule. So we may see the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge flagship by the end of this year or in the beginning of next year.

If this notice is true it will be a shame for Samsung's side. They want to put many smartphones and tablets in the market but they can't update all so they invent stories like these. All my android's equipments are Samsung but Tab Pro will be the last equipment from this brand! And i bealive that are more people thinking like me.

I am also never getting another samsung device...if they tease their customers like this. They must just hate repeat buyers. But really, it they did release the update, it would be throttled down to encourage sales of the newer tabs. This is what I believe they did with kk. Why else would the tab s have no lag, and ours have lag on every screen change with the same hardware? Dirty tricks! I am done.

Q3-Q4))
From another chart I've seen, the first batch of Samsung tab getting M will be the Tab A. Yes, not the new 4:3 "flagship" Tab S2, not the older flagships Tab S and TabPRO, not our PRO 8.4 which has a Qualcomm SoC and should be easier to maintain, but the lowly Tab A!
I wonder what had gotten into Samsung these days...

[WARNING: XDA Premium 4.0.13+ lacks Signature function - do not update]
I really don't understand them. It's much more easier have 10 devices and update them than have like 100 devices and TRY to update them. It's a shame!
I am not surprised with lack of Samsung devices selling. First Samsung is expensive, Second they just promises about updates and Third KNOX sux!
These is the main reasons to me to abandon Samsung!
