The screen is totally unresponsive on this area. So can you please help and tell me if it's a hardware problem or not? (no warrantly as it is a used phone)

Most likely hardware problem try and flash different rom and see if it fixes problem.if not its probably the digitizer that is causing the problem

rumor:
i have seen a problem very much like yours in other forum , in which , someone gave an answer and worked , but , i am not for if it is real or they were just bullshitting
get a lighter , you should have one if you smoke , take out that part which make fire , i dont know how exactly call it .
one way to identify it is what i want to say. if you put your finger over it , you should feel small electrical shock when you push the button
find that part , and shock the screen where unresponsive with it ...
don't ask me how is it works , i dont know ... you can either ignore me or take a shot...
good luck to you
....
you may not have warranty , but i think you can find some mobile shop to fix it , of course , you need to pay for it...

one thing i can tell you
in China , replace SLCD screen needs about 600 CNY , which means about 100 USD
SA creen nees about 900 CNY , about 150 USD ...

No he's talking about an electronic lighter.
No idea how safe it is to send a shock of current through the capacitive screen though, read up more before you attempt.

consider thing wouldn't get any worse , you may worth to try it
Flashed different roms and results is the same.
Did someone try the lighter solution?
Is it easy to change the digitizer?

No you need to seperate digitizer from the screen. Risking breaking the screen. You can buy the digizteir and screen that is preassembled buy it's pricy.
.around 100 I think. Buy the digitizer and take it to the local shop its probably cheaper that way.

I have the same problem with the area by the backspace and "p" keys in portrait mode and along the status bar in landscape with the charging port to the right.
I went running with my phone in my waistband. Stupid I know. When I got home, my phone was soaked and the screen was 100% unresponsive and the colors would change intermittently.
I put it in a bowl of rice for a few days in a warm area of my apt, but it hasn't fully recovered two months later. You MAY consider removing the screen and checking for particulates or trapped water vapor. I've been meaning to, but haven't managed to get the tools yet.
I'd be interested to here about your solution if you find one.
Best of luck.

in the first few seconds , the author demonstrated right side of his screen "number 3 6 9 " were non-responsive , and then he use that thing from lighter , shock the screen thought his finger, sure , that's gonna be little hurt...
but , be careful , i also read , this method MAY REDUCE THE LIFE OF SCREEN.
Thank you very much for your answer. As said above, things can't be worse. I'll try this method and tell you the results.

Hello guys, I'm new here, I've bought a g4 plus xt1644, everything's fine but i'm facing an issue with the screen, I don't know how to call it and not pretty sure if it's an issue, I think that is a kind of ghosting, but is really annoying, I came from a g2 and this never happened... here's a video:
Look at the icons bar when I scroll Can you guys see that ghosting effect? Is it normal with IPS panels? Set it to 60 fps to see it clearly.

Seriously???then its also a problem from that vendor
Solved
I am having the same issue from the past few days. I find notification icons and time ghosting on the top corners of my screen, its visible only on grey backgrounds specially when the notification panel is pulled down. My device is only 2 months old and this issue is very annoying. It vanishes after i have turned off the display for 15-20 minutes. Is there any solution for this issue or will I have to replace my display from the service center? I am really afraid to visit the service center because device centers here in India are pathetic
True indian service center are pathetic, but till now only one solution is replace the display,i have the same issue 2 months old after a month and half use I saw that the screen burn on the screen.

Its a major issue on moto g4 plus quite a few have reported this issue. Even LG G4 and LG G5 have the same issue specially LG G4 and LG V10. This a major issue is because of the LG lcd panels and unfortunately my moto g4 plus has a lg lcd panel. If the defect was related to some other hardware then I would have given the phone to the service centre , replacing the lcd is the toughest part and I doubt the service guys can replace it properly.
True, moreover they would take a month and tell you we are still waiting for the spare parts to arrive. They hell test your patience untill the customer asks for his device back.

In other countries if there is a major issue in a batch of device the company offers a free replacement to the customer.Anyways lets hope that the issue does not worsen
I am not sure if this'll work on moto g4 plus but it did work on my Asus zenfone 2, I faced the same issue with my zenfone 2 when I had one, this is what I did (I know this may sound stupid but it did work for me). First of all switch off ur phone & wipe ur phone's display for abt 3 to 4 minutes with ur palm thoroughly, wipe the display completely (all the areas), leave it untouched for abt 2 to 3 minutes & then switch it on, do not use turbo charger, get a tempered glass applied too. I hope it'll fix the problem.

Well it being hardware issue it won't help much.but thanks for response.
Hey, I recently purchased a Grand Prime. Rooting is one problem, but I don't need a lot of pressure to form a rainbow circle on the screen. When I'm not applying any pressure, when viewing the screen when it is off in direct sunlight, I can also see a rainbow circle. And no, I am not using any tempered glass, or a case. I have used those, but removed them when I noticed the issue. I can post pictures on request, but I really don't want to damage my phone further if you can understand me correctly. This does not feel normal. Does anyone else have the same issue? Also, when placing the case on, it it will be constant, and it will get worse if I place a tempered glass protecter on. Is it an air bubble between the screen and the LCD? If so, how do I repair this? I do not want to replace the device, as I have data on it, and Helium Backup is seriously painful to set up (half of the time it doesn't even work). Any ideas anyone?
Update: I meant to post this on another forum site. Sorry, I was half asleep at that time, please forgive me for posting a hardware issue in a software forum. Although I would appreciate it if someone helped. Mods, move this to off topic forum plz.

I understand that it can be replaced, however, is there a way to release any sort of air bubble trapped in the lcd? I removed the battery and started poking the battery compartment and I see some smaller rainbow circles where I am pressing. There is still some hope, right?
Today I noticed that when I charged my phone and it's lying with screen facing down it vibrates when I touch and move my finger on its back.
To reproduce this vibration- - -
While Charging your phone ,
put it on flat surface with it's screen facing down. Now touch and move your finger without breaking contact with the specified area.
Happened with OP3 too, that's to be expected when you have a metal case and no grounding - the charger has 2 prongs. The solution would be to ground the charger, but no phone manufacturer does that - it would make the charger bigger for no good reason - a few electrons on the phone surface during charging isn't a big deal.
This also happens with many ultrabooks, like the Asus Zenbook to give an example.
That happens with any notebook that has metallic case and power brick without grounding.
I didn't know that. And asked for replacement and pickup is scheduled for tommorow.
Does anyone know if all OnePlus 5 that have jelly effect,
have same kind of jelly effect or in some units it is stronger than other.
Giving the source of the effect (some extra calculations when rendering the image and refresh the screen) the effect should be present on each and every unit.
This is not really a defect, but more like a design consequence and each smartphone display has it to some extent (some display types/technologies might hide it better than others).

OnePlus 5 is shaping up to be quite a phone where no one knows what kind of *feature* they'll get.
Wait, what? This is a bug? not a feature?
I thought it was a really nice feature, haha, I love it and was looking up how to make it do it more consistently.
It feels so nice. My friend was impressed when she noticed it

Okey thank
Hey guys, hoping you all can chime in on this.
Got an SM-t520. My dad grabbed one used off ebay a few years ago and when it arrived it had a weird backlight issue. half of the screen stayed 100% lit and the other side flickered-- if the tablet was pressed in certain areas the whole screen would flicker. My dad liquid damaged it months ago with a juice spill but the tablet still functions after letting it sit and dry for months.
Few weeks ago i started trying to fix it testing to see what works and doesn't.
From testing
Battery is fine (swapped it with a new one to make sure)
motherboard/daughterboards were fine after doing an alcohol dip/clean
the tablet charges, power/home/vol buttons work fine
and the SD card slot works perfectly.
The screen however...
still flickers. I read in a forum post on xda ( cant find it right now ) that the screen backlight issues were caused by the metal connectors on the motherboard being cracked and battery connector not making good contact.
I ordered a battery and new motherboard to swap them out since i suck at soldering. neither of these fixed the issue.
what I noticed with both batteries and both motherboards-- the screen on the bottom right side and along the softkeys overheat like crazy... like you could scramble an egg on it.
i thought it was the charger port -- (removed it) it wasn't the issue.
theres this space under the plastic framing for the screen that gets hot and im not sure why.
Do you guys think its the screen? or should I replace something else?
A new screen with the frame costs 125$ (if theres a better tablet for that price please let me know because id rather put money towards that instead)
Thank you
The screen is most likely just old. Mine glitches too (SM-T320), but by the looks of it that's the LCD and not the backlight. Otherwise, this tablet is about 6 years old by now so it makes sense it's doing weird stuff sometimes. About the "overheating", on the Snapdragon 800 SoC, it's completely normal to hit high temperatures under load. This is also specified in the manual as normal and not a defect. If you're really paranoid about this you could get some new thermal pads and place those on the chips/RF shields.
I recommend you to get a new tablet altogether since this one barely keeps up with browsing on the XDA forum. You'd be looking at something like a Lenovo Tab M8 (ZA5F0007SE). Specs can be found using the search term "Lenovo Tab M8 (FHD)". One minor downside is the lack of USB-C.
