How to lock 4g only - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Please help how to lock in 4g/lte only samsung a3 2016

Sadly, Samsung removed the LTE only feature, they even removed the WCDMA/LTE feature as well (3G/4G, very useful to avoid 2G drops).
However, you can enable them with a few xposed modules, but as you know, that requires root, and potentially know triggering.
also. please consider using the Q&A section next time .
EDIT: look around your operator, a lot of operators drop to 3G for calls, so you may not be reachable for people if you are strictly in 4G, unless VoLTE is offered.

Please follow the following methods:

5. tap the search box type Hiddennetwork
6. In the call setting section, there is a hiddennetwork activity.

[Tutorial] Internal Testing of Phone

The easiest way to check a phone about its various functions or failure of such function is to use its own embedded testing .apk
How to access them is not normally Known to many
All you have to do is
1) Long Press your Desktop
2) Touch shortcuts
3) Touch Activities
4) And you can select activity of any application on your phone ( which has its own pulled down menu to chose from)
By selecting one you will have a shortcut of it placed in your desktop
so all you have to do is now touch that shortcut and its appropriate menu will open for you to test or select from
see screen-shots below
Assuming you have problems with USB connections, Blue tooth, WIFI, Network settings, whatever your phone is supposed to do, can be checked this way including running a ping test etc

If you are using XDA App or Tapatalk, long press on the post and select :good: Thanks Its easier to give "Feedback" in this manner than make an additional post.
Direct shortcuts to activities can be quite useful. One of my main uses is to get access to the fullscreen feeds and updates widget (there is also an activity that allows you to select a few themes for it).
You do however need a launcher such as Launcherpro or Apex launcher installed to get this in the shortcut menu.
Thankyou so much for this insight, I spent 2 years wondering what this option was for and it never crossed my mind to actually try it

Cell Broadcast (Emergency Message Service) Library/Source

Dear All,
Requirement:
Network Provider broadcasts discount plans and area name on channel 50 of Cell Broadcast Service which is also known as Cell Info Display in Nokia phones. Android didn't had this option in CM9 / ICS, but some GB ROMs did had Cell Broadcast option in SMS Message Settings. However, in Jelly Bean, Cell Broadcast is included and can be accessed from System Settings -> Wireless and Networks menu. Thus, I'm trying to find library to integrate this feature in Epinter's CM10 ROM. (only if Epinder doesn't have any problems with it)
Already have:
Cell Broadcast Receiver apk
http://d-h.st/vFB
This application is accessed via Settings Menu.

What's required:
Installing above apk didn't bring up the Cell Broadcast option in wireless and networks menu as its libs are not included in the build. Having the libs that would allow me to access this feature can help. Or if I can access the application and configure it via Terminal would be good enough.
Also, I'm not sure whether I can enable channel 50 using above application. Some input can always help.
Thanks developers and fellow members for your efforts!!
Update:
[ROM][JB][4.1.2]AOKP for Atrix 10/17/2012
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755836
Above mentioned ROM contains CellBroadcastReceiver.apk in /system/app folder, still Cell Broadcast setting is not available in any settings menu.
Fellow member said this option was on fryo, can anyone confirm?
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594374
The only network in the UK that supports Cell Broadcast is Vodafone, and they only display the current cell identity...
I'm assuming it's more popular elsewhere
Yeah, in some places they show discount on call which comes really handy
I tried signed_froyo_atrix_kyler084.zip http://www.mediafire.com/?aqzowdn8w5z2osu and CellBroadcast works like a charm. I can see the message in the notification bar. Now have to figure out how can I have this in CM10 or ICS.

[VIDEO] Non-Verizon Nexus 6 VoLTE Working

Make sure you have HD Voice provisioned on your account https://wbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/accountholder/services/displayProductsServices.action click on Manage Your Products, add HD Voice, should provision in ~15min
If you're not seeing Enhanced LTE, dial *#*#4636#*#*, phone information, scroll to turn on VoLTE flag, restart device or put into Airplane Mode
Now go to Settings ---> More ---> Cellular Networks and Enhanced LTE should now be enabled

Not working for me.....button in *#*#4636#*#* never changes to anything and I never have option in more settings
I think the key to getting this to work is to be on a 5.1 ROM.... I tried with 5.01 and the new baseband, but I think the settings are in the ROM.
Correct, you need to be on 5.1 for VoLTE
dissapears
i can get it on my phone but as soon as i go to use it i lose lte and then my advance option disappears. could it be possible my sim card doesn't support volte? I had to use a sim from an iphone 5 to get service. I think that sim is different from one that's in a M8 or moto x. Any input would be appreciated.
Edit- got it working by going on Verizon and removing hd voice and the adding it back. SIM card is fine..
Thanks Worked Like a charm. Finally the one major thing I wanted on the N6
Worked for me, but took about 5 - 10 minutes to provision. Thanks!
Worked for me, purchased directly from moto

No Cell Service when using WIFI

So let me explain what I'm trying to do. I am trying to connect to a Barco Clickshare (CSE-200) via wifi using the clickshare app and then open chrome and go to a website.
The Clickshare for those that don't know is a wireless content sharing device for meeting rooms. It's like a wireless access point but with no internet. You connect to it on your phone by connecting to its wifi SSID and password and then use the clickshare app to share content from your phone to a TV or whatever display the clickshare access point is connected to.
So when I connect to the clickshare wifi (which has no internet) I am no longer able to go to a website or use internet. My phone doesn't seem to be able to use my LTE service while the wifi is on. I talked to a guy at Barco and he said thats not normal. My LTE service should still be usable. My coworker who has the iPhone 6 is able to connect to the clickshare wifi and still use the internet on his phone from his LTE service.
I should note I am using the MSL/dun trick for hotspot.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Enable developer mode by tapping the build number in the about menu a bunch of times, then go to the new developer options menu at the bottom of the settings screen and turn on the keep mobile data turned on setting.
It's still possible that in the routing table on the phone the cellular data will be associated with a higher cost, and therefore the data still won't go over it even though it's enabled, bit worth a try.

I did what you said pitcherj, but no luck. I do now have the LTE icon at the top above the cell bars which before I didn't, but still no internet. Anything else I could try? I did restart the phone as well.
Nope, no thoughts. Without root you can't recost the network interfaces AFAIK. Maybe someone else has an idea.

Carrier Location Access permission request after update?

Hello everyone. I recently updated my OP7TPM T-Mobile edition (unlocked bootloader, with the help of the reserve.img fixer package to allow OTA updates again) from 10.0.16 > 10.0.34 . The update appears to have completed successfully, but I got a strange pop-up afterward that was apparently an app (or perhaps an Android component itself, from the icon ) called "Carrier Location Access". It had a couple short paragraphs of text about the possible uses of this feature (something about VoWi-Fi among other things) and that even if it was denied your carrier can still track you via receiving and text message and other such discussion.
At the bottom was a single button about setting permissions - when pressed, it gives the typical choice about "Allow" , "Allow only when app is open", or "Deny". Initially I picked the only-when-open item, concerned that it could have some bearing on feature use, but recalling the various reports about carriers selling user location data among other items, I decided to change that! Pressing the button on the app again (I used the shuffle-through-open-apps function to get back to it) , it had a slightly different dialog, asking to either Allow globally, maintain as is at Allow When Open, or Allow When Open + don't ask me again. Not seeing the deny option, I thought I'd check elsewhere. When I went to the "permissions" sub-menu within Settings, I found it named "Carrier Location Access" currently under the only-when-app-is-open section, and changed it to Deny.
Thinking all was well at least for the moment, I wanted to double check that I could go back and find it again if I found some reason to turn it on. However, I was surprised to find that the whole permission disappeared! It no longer is listed under the "Deny" category (or any of the other categories for that matter) in the Permissions menu! I'm a little concerned that it cannot be called up again. Does anyone know about this "Carrier Location Access" feature ? Is it something specific to OnePlus's implementation,, a common Android 10 feature, or something new? Any other information about it and, perhaps most importantly of all, why it has hidden and/or how to find it again!
Thanks!
I've been wondering what to do about this too. I haven't done anything yet but for anyone who wants to access the setting I have a screenshot with instructions on how to change it.
