Carrier Location Access permission request after update? - OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Questions & Answers

Hello everyone. I recently updated my OP7TPM T-Mobile edition (unlocked bootloader, with the help of the reserve.img fixer package to allow OTA updates again) from 10.0.16 > 10.0.34 . The update appears to have completed successfully, but I got a strange pop-up afterward that was apparently an app (or perhaps an Android component itself, from the icon ) called "Carrier Location Access". It had a couple short paragraphs of text about the possible uses of this feature (something about VoWi-Fi among other things) and that even if it was denied your carrier can still track you via receiving and text message and other such discussion.
At the bottom was a single button about setting permissions - when pressed, it gives the typical choice about "Allow" , "Allow only when app is open", or "Deny". Initially I picked the only-when-open item, concerned that it could have some bearing on feature use, but recalling the various reports about carriers selling user location data among other items, I decided to change that! Pressing the button on the app again (I used the shuffle-through-open-apps function to get back to it) , it had a slightly different dialog, asking to either Allow globally, maintain as is at Allow When Open, or Allow When Open + don't ask me again. Not seeing the deny option, I thought I'd check elsewhere. When I went to the "permissions" sub-menu within Settings, I found it named "Carrier Location Access" currently under the only-when-app-is-open section, and changed it to Deny.
Thinking all was well at least for the moment, I wanted to double check that I could go back and find it again if I found some reason to turn it on. However, I was surprised to find that the whole permission disappeared! It no longer is listed under the "Deny" category (or any of the other categories for that matter) in the Permissions menu! I'm a little concerned that it cannot be called up again. Does anyone know about this "Carrier Location Access" feature ? Is it something specific to OnePlus's implementation,, a common Android 10 feature, or something new? Any other information about it and, perhaps most importantly of all, why it has hidden and/or how to find it again!
Thanks!

I've been wondering what to do about this too. I haven't done anything yet but for anyone who wants to access the setting I have a screenshot with instructions on how to change it.

Phantom Voicemails - Still have them

I have been having issues with the Phantom Voicemail issue on all the Cyanogen Mod roms.
I have tried changing the voicemail phone number through the My Carrier options, that did nothing. Tried clearing out the Dialer Storage, that did nothing.
I have spent roughly 3 hours trying to find a fix. Does anyone know of anything?
I use Google Voice, so the dual notification icons get annoying, not to mention the fact that this one doesn't disappear, and reappears if I reboot my phone, or go in and out of service.
If there is a file that I can remove to have it stop, and allow me to just use Google Voice, that would work great too, as of now, I just want the darn thing gone.
You have to download an app and black list it. There's a post around here somewhere. I'm on my phone so I can't find it. But look for Sprint's VVM. There's a link to the app in the OP.

The two apps I can think of are RedList, and SPC (Super Private Conversation). SPC is the bigger of the two apps (I think around 2-3mb?), but I don't think the free version of RedList lets you disable the notification icon (I could be wrong? Someone feel free to correct me).
Is there anything other then an application that can block the notification message?
Removing a file or changing a file perhaps?
No clue, though I'd wager it has to be done on the code level.
I don't think I've ever actually ran into this bug. I gather it notifies you of voicemails despite not actually having any? Odd.
It looks like this, with my phone number edited out.

No matter what the time it is, this was on first boot up. Then it "notified me" again, at 11:17 PM.
It's a known bug on Cyanogenmod...

[Tutorial] Internal Testing of Phone

The easiest way to check a phone about its various functions or failure of such function is to use its own embedded testing .apk
How to access them is not normally Known to many
All you have to do is
1) Long Press your Desktop
2) Touch shortcuts
3) Touch Activities
4) And you can select activity of any application on your phone ( which has its own pulled down menu to chose from)
By selecting one you will have a shortcut of it placed in your desktop
so all you have to do is now touch that shortcut and its appropriate menu will open for you to test or select from
see screen-shots below
Assuming you have problems with USB connections, Blue tooth, WIFI, Network settings, whatever your phone is supposed to do, can be checked this way including running a ping test etc

If you are using XDA App or Tapatalk, long press on the post and select :good: Thanks Its easier to give "Feedback" in this manner than make an additional post.
Direct shortcuts to activities can be quite useful. One of my main uses is to get access to the fullscreen feeds and updates widget (there is also an activity that allows you to select a few themes for it).
You do however need a launcher such as Launcherpro or Apex launcher installed to get this in the shortcut menu.
Thankyou so much for this insight, I spent 2 years wondering what this option was for and it never crossed my mind to actually try it

You are welcome, seems so simple and right in-front of us to get into the phone, yet little known or used

Sometimes, you download an application because you find it interesting and then finally, it don't need or like it or more (it arrives very often), or you have just changed of rom, of version of Android. I've got a lot of apps, between my changes of terminal, the articles of test for a French blog etc...It's really easy and fast to download some free apps.
In brief, for the most ancient, you must have an important download history :silly:
For awhile now there’s been a way to delete the free crapware from your download history, but not many users are aware of the feature. For your benefit we’ve provided a handy step-by-step guide to getting rid of the apps from your download history that you’re confident you won’t be revisiting in the future.
On first you need the last update of Google Play Store apk, which is 3.10.9, Especially don't say “why I do not have do it earlier ????”. For the simple one and good reason which this functionality is very recent.
=> Open the Play Store App on your device.
=> You’re going to be presented with a list of all your currently installed apps, and below that you may see a list of apps ready for update.
=> Tap the options button in the top-right corner of the screen and select ‘My Apps’ from the drop down menu.
=> Swipe from right-to-left to bring up the ‘All’ screen.
=> From here you can delete the history of any free app you have downloaded. Simply tap the circle with a line through it above the word “Free” in the app list.
=> If you want to select multiple history entries just hold down on the app until you feel the short vibration. Then go through the list and select the other free apps you want to remove.
=> Tap the circle with a line through it in the top right corner if you have multiple items selected and you will be prompted to select ‘OK’ or ‘Cancel’ to confirm your removal.
You’re done! The app list should now refresh, and it should be missing whatever you selected for removal.
Maybe it will be long for some download history. Mine was new and fresh after 2 hrs :victory:

[Guide][NST] Parental control over web browser

Hi there!
Today I have a guide that will be very useful for anyone who has a small-to-medium aged child that they do not want using the Nook Touch's well-known hidden web browser (accessible by going into Settings > Social > Link to Facebook, Twitter and Google > Need help? > Google Home). I have come across a way to disable access to the entire Social settings menu, as well as 99% of the Shop settings menu. The best part is, you can do it without root access! :good:
The steps are very simple, but just for clarification, I have included screenshots in [hide][/hide] tags.
DISCLAIMER - I am sorry about the fact that I have edited my framework-res.apk, and therefore the user interface in the screenshots looks different than yours will. :|
Steps:
1. Go into the Settings menu by pressing the "n" button and hitting "Settings".
2. Tap on "Screen".
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. While in the "Screen" settings menu, hold down the top right hardware button (a.k.a page turn button) and tap on the little "Screen" header at the top of the window.
4. A new setting will appear underneath the "Screen" settings, which is labelled "Demo Mode". There will be a small, unchecked box on the far right of that new setting. Tap on that box - a check mark will appear in it.
5. That's all there is to it! As seen in the screenshots below, the "Social" option in the main Settings screen is completely grayed-out and inaccessible, as well as 4 out of 5 of the options in the "Shop" settings menu being grayed-out and disabled, too.
To re-enable these functions, all you have to do is go back into the "Screen" settings menu, hold the top right hardware button, tap on the "Screen" header, and uncheck the little box.
I hope this helps all of you people who want to prevent their little ones from accessing the Internet, as well as change the Shop settings.
Have a nice day,

VERY strange situation! Come in! My Asus A002A reset after a complete discharge, and closed my access to it. HELP ME PLEASE

Hello! I REALLY need your help! I have an asus a002a, worked fine, but the battery started to die with age. Today I found out in the evening that he sat down to 0, but I had to go outside and I left him like that, came home after 20 minutes, put him on charge. I turn it on, and it shows me the picture "Launching Android", which I have not seen before (picture for spoiler # 1). Then I look, and the notification curtain has become very small and does not unfold as before (spoiler # 2) ... do not change the brightness, etc.. I also look, the date and time have gone wrong .... system settings and it asked me again enable the checkbox to allow installation of packages from an external source. Then ... THE BUTTONS Home and Browse open applications DO NOT WORK, only the back button (the home button and applications work, they glow when I press it, but the return and review functions do not work) .... I DECIDED TO GO TO THE SETTINGS FOR DEVELOPERS ... and what do you think??? It writes to me: This user has no developer options (spoiler #3) I'm Awesome! I thought maybe I have some kind of safe mode.. restarted through the recovery in normal mode... nothing has changed... The "zenui system interface or whatever it is" disappeared from the list of applications ... downloaded a new one installed the same version from the Internet (I wrote it down a long time ago) ... nothing has changed .. I have NO KNOW what happened ... but it’s obvious that the bodies sat down so much that they didn’t receive power and reset all settings ...! There is an assumption that after the reset he should have shown the phone settings program (I read on xda that if you reset the bodies it asks in this screen to connect to wifi, but this model a002a wifi only works in the usa (above you can read how I hopelessly tried to solve this problem in this topic) ) And in general I have a suspicion that it should have shown this settings window and blocked the exit keys so that the program could not be exited and did not give full access ... but I turned off all the standard verizon applications because they worked in the background and ate the battery ...: unsure: And now it can't show the window and unlock the bodies, but this is just my meager guess ... I really need your advice and help .. how to return access to the developer tools, make the buttons work and return the normal curtain? I'm very sad....
