Does anyone know if radio is same version on OTA as original. Does anyone have flashable version of original? Found OTA version but not original. Thx
I have both and they are identical in size. Don't notice a difference between the two. Search for dottat on AFH, he has the original radio hosted there saved as vzw_pme_radio.img I believe.

It's a different version.
As to the user who stated it's the same size....well duh...it's a partition dump. There's a lot of zeroes (free space in there).

I bought a non-rooted Nexus One off of Craigslist and I updated to frg83d and the radio wont update!
It stayed the same old 5.12.00.08 radio version before and after the update! I dont want to update to gingerbread and have the radio not update again
I know the radio can improve the battery life and reception so what can I do to get the radio updated to the current version?
Also, does anyone know WHY the radio isnt updating? Its the easiest way to brick your N1 and I dont want to have to keep risking bricking my phone everytime a new OS comes out having to manually update the radio if I can avoid it.
Thank you anyone who can please help me pls pls
What radio are you trying to get to?
5.12 is the newest one.

Are you sure? Isnt the most current radio there 4.06.00.12.7?
here is a picture from an Xda thread showing 4.06.00.12.7 after updating to frg83d: i51.tinypic.com/14jrrpi.jpg
If 4.06.00.12.7 is the most current radio then my Nexus baseband radio isnt updating and I would need some help

You really need to learn numbers...
OK the 5.12.08 radios are from the Korean version of the N1. The 4.06 version is the stock radio from the N1s here in the U.S. Soooo what you saw in that picture was someone who got the update of FRG83D with the stock N1 radio from the US. I have the 4.06 radio. It only helps SOME people with better battery life. Your mileage may vary in other words. You HAVE the most updated version. FYI: " believe only half of what you see and none of what you hear"

Yeah I also found an androidspin article here: androidspin.com/2010/09/24/googles-nexus-one-updated-to-android-2-2-1/
The article says I should have the 4.06.00.12.7 (the US version) but for some reason its the Korean version so how could I fix this?
thanks for the responses so far you guys I just gotta get this fixed to the right U.S. radio version.

For god's sake, stop trying to find something wrong with your Nexus.
The korean radio is fine and IS the newest and DOES run better. Keep it and be happy, there is NO point in going back to 4.06.

exactly, well said
Keep in mind that when you flash a ROM it typically does not include a radio. You have to flash the radio separately, preferably using fastboot.
Did you seriously think the 4.xx radio was newer then the 5.xx radio?

Right after I flashed Richardtrip kernel and rebooted, did a manual check and the update poped up
I flashed back the stock kernel for testing and NO UPDATE. Hehe very strange.
Enjoy...

depends....
are you currently on 4.010.24 ??
whenever someone post an update file... it reads like this:
4.010.24_4.010.40
means you must come from 4.010.24 in order to updates to 4.010.40
otherwise... You risk bricking your device.
According to the original post, it would appear that this update only applies to those living in the Asia/Pacific market. Is this correct, or will it upgrade a US model correctly as well?

If your current ROM is 4.010.24 then it is fine to update. This is an incremental update, not a full rom.
If not, do not use this update.
You can refer to this notice by Acer for more information:

I'm on 4.010.24.....so after installing this...would I be able to receive future ota's??....also what new feature does this update have??

It's not corrupted, it just needs to be decrypted. Look for the Acer Decrypter thread.

Well done. You may want to consider renaming the thread to something more specific - include version, date etc., because "new" tells nothing.
Looking into the zip I can see modem patches - presumably it´ll be the same radio upgrade like we got for DE version, also OTG USB storage fix and probably something more, because the zip is 2,5MB bigger than the German one. Maybe later I´ll flash US firmware and apply this OTA to check it.

Copy zip to your sdcard and go to recovery, probably you will have to hold volume up and power together for some 3 secs to get in. Then apply update from sdcard.

I pulled this update but haven't applied it. I have your languages mod installed along with custom font and logo.bin. Would there be any problem flashing this update?
Also, I have custom recovery (TWRP), so would I have to switch back to stock recovery? (And where is it available?)

Yes, you have to restore your decice to clear 4.4 before applying this ota. Because if you try it to install you'll have bootloop
And with this "minor" update my led starts blinking on missing calls

I have stock ROM, but I flashed S0be's languages mod and this also included the H,H+ icons.
Warning: if you look a few posts up, he says this mod has problems with this update. For now, I'm not going to apply the update. In fact, I might be flashing Cyanogenmod soon.

I really can't comment upon how the camera changed because I got the update within hours after I started using the phone. But I can surely post some pictures for you to decide.

Nothing really to report back. Everything seems the same.
I was hoping more would have gotten this update and posted there experience
Downloaded and installed... do not have a clue what difference did it make. Still cant take RAW photos.
I had some error when camera took a photo and it was a black empty photo instead. Very rarely that happened. Now it's gone. Some improvement on default auto settings when taking pictures outside. Very good close to real colors and sharper in daylight. At least for me
BTW, could someone dump the system.img from the 1.61.707 Asia-WWE ? I only have the European 1.61, and couldn't grab the WWE firmware zip from anywhere yet.
UPDATE: I've got the system image and boot image now, so not needed anymore. Soon to update CleanSlate with Asia-WWE edition

It looks like the Chinese yotaphones ship with a modified rom that isn't available anywhere to download. All the roms that are available can be found here ftp://fw.ydevices.com/YotaPhone2/Firmwares/
Flashing is done with the yotaflasher tool which can be found here ftp://fw.ydevices.com/YotaPhone2/YotaPhoneFlasher/

Mind you, once you upgrade to the latest iteration of Android it is usually impossible to go back unless you can flash a RAW image of the rom...
I don't know if this is the case with the Yotaphone but most phones have this limitation...

That's indeed true for most phones but when you use YotaFlasher it flashes the complete image so you can always go back to a previous version or switch between regions. When you use OTA to upgrade you can also go back to a previous version by using the YotaFlasher.
Read the other thread which reports hell for updating without ending in bootloop ;/
