USB-C cable incompatibility with Airplane USB seat sockets - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
Recently have been traveling on Turkish airline flight from S.Korea to Istanbul. I tried to connect my
OPT to seat built in USB socket . Indication light blinked once and nothing else happened, my OPT was
not able to connect. Passanger closest to me offered me to try his socket whic was prooven good and
same thing happened again , indication light blinked and his socked had gone darksame as mine. It apears
that this USB-C cable is burning those USB sockets. Also I didn have my OPT operational during the
flight as I had hoped. Does anyone expierienced the same, any explanation to this?

Cannot charge xda executive with car charger ,when connected nothing happens light does not go red and also the connection icon does not show
make sure you dont have a faulty charger... dont know what you are using but i believe most people use the cigarette lighter to usb converter and then just use the usb cable... also have you tried pressing the on and off swith with the charger plugged in ?

car charger
Hi and thanks for the fast reply mate <yes it is a new charger from o2 .
No i have not tried the on off with the switch ,but would i still be able to charge when i am using tomtom
Whell....I use the cigarette lighter to usb adapter and usb cable ...at times i have had to quik press the on/off swith and at times plug and unplug the cable to get it to charge ....I used this as a "jump start" method only and no problems after that with using it whillst on charge (even with tomtom)..... other than that you may have a faulty charger or fag lighter to usb adapter (I never seen what a o2 one looks like).

Is the charger one especially for the exec?
I found normal usb chargers for phones like V3 or a GPS charger cant supply enough current to charge an exec.
hi, yeah i have had this problem, and so have a few of my clients, seems that not enough juice flows through the non branded versions, unlike from o2's or Brodits cables
I found that a regular USB cable into a Cigarette Lighter -> USB Socket didn't work until I joined pin 4 to pin 5 on the USB B Mini plug. All of the adapters I had that worked, but only powered (no data, i.e. Brodit and mains adapter) seemed to have pin 4 joined to pin 5 (pin 4 isn't normally connected at all). Once I did that mod it worked fine.
Cheers,
Steve.

Orange shops carry a charger intended for HTC manufactured devices (i.e. the SPV C500/M500 range) which works fine. Only £9.99.

Samsung USB-C Cable is Unique?

TLDR: I am only able to achieve a stable data connection using the Samsung usb-c cable that came with the phone. I've had my S8+ since the first day it was available in the US, Apr 21. And I've had this problem since that day.
Details:
When I plug my phone into a computer (transfer files, etc) or my car (Android Auto), it always works fine with the Samsung cable. It almost never works with any other usb-c cable I've tried, seeming to succeed only if the cable sits just right in the port. If it happens to work, and I move the phone/cable at all, it stops. On a computer, the "you plugged in a device" dialog pops up over and over again really fast (1 hertz).
I've tried it with both usb 2.0 and 3.0 ports on a couple towers and 3+ laptops
I've tried at least 3 different kinds of cables and at least 10 total cables. The cables don't sit loosely in the port or anything. They fit snug and hold fast, as I've come to appreciate about usb-c.
The other cables all work fine with other usb-c devices I have -- Pixel phone, Nexus 6p, Nexus 5x, Chromebooks, Nintendo Switch controllers
Charging works fine 90-95% of the time with other cables. When it fails, it slow charges, saying "Ensure the cable is plugged in properly" or something like that
I see articles online encouraging purchase of all kinds of non-Samsung usb-c cables to use with the S8
I would conclude the port is loose, but the cables all fit snugly, and the Samsung cable *always* works. I don't have to wiggle it in the port or anything--no effort at all.
This hasn't been a big deal for me until this week. I have usb-c cables all over the place I can charge with, and I carry the Samsung cable in my backpack for when I need a data connection. But now I have a car with Android Auto, and want to keep a valid cable in there.
Has anyone else experienced this? I searched around some, but couldn't find anything.
I'm using three different brands of type-C usb cables, micro usb cable+included adapter (micro usb to C). All are working fine.

It's a big I aqh3 I'm 99.9% positive. My MacBook pro power cable is as good as they come but it flaps like 3x then just says fail on my phone screen despite it working fine lol. It does not do this on for example the eng rom for root
I bought 3 type c cables from 3 different manufucturers. Only one of them doesnt work as advertised. Whenever i plug the phone with the cable the humidity sensor is switched on and it tells me the phone port is wet and i can not charge. Cant fidn any logical explanation but thats what i get

I experience the same problem. I haven’t tried the original cable. I just gave up on PC cable cause I never really needed it. I just wanted to use my usb c desktop connector to feel cool since usb c isn’t popular on a desktop yet. But yea constant disconnects unless you plug it without moving it, a slight wind can blow and cause it to disconnect. If the OEM cable works no problem, I’ll just buy one from a4c android store or amazon.

Dead usb port?

Hi guys, I'm new here and could really use some help
I finally upgraded to the 6T from my OP2 yesterday. I got a T mobile variant (in great condition) and wanted to convert it to international. The problem is I can't seem to connect it to any computer. I have tried 5 computers and 3 different cables, the phone just doesn't get detected. USB preferences remains grayed out and windows doesn't even detect something is being plugged in.
I have tried installing the OP drivers, and qualcomm drivers, made no difference.
I also noticed that the usb-c to headphone jack doesn't output any audio through my earphones. Dash charging isn't working either.
Is my usb port damaged? It seems like theres no data going through it at all

Well if it's not even charging or playing audio then yes, I'd wager the USB Port is damaged.

Regular charging works, just not dash charge. And the buttons on my earphones can play/pause music, but there's no sound output. I've been reading a few pixel forums, this seems to be a common issue with pixel 3's. Was just hoping to see if others here have faced similar issues and how they got around it
Have you tried to clean port with toothpick or brush also your dash lead or charger may be faulty, dash charging will only work with dash lead and dash charger. Also usb type c are prone to failure i would clean and replace lead and go from there before juming to charge port replacement, if necessary ctdi in poland do a great job and authorised repairs for oneplus

nexux 7 flo 2013 bricked

hi wonder if anyone can give me some advice, a friend borrowed a nexus 7 2013 flo (used in car install) and has messed it up, i think he has deleted everything in TWRP system ect ect, anyhow it only gets as far as google logo on boot now, i can still access bootloader, and twrp recovery, and i do have a complete backup of this device on my pc, but I also cant click the checkbox for mount usb otg to restore my back up that way , now the issue is no matter what i do i cant get a connection to pc fastboot or otherwise , multiple cables tried, different usb ports, and multiple pcs, am I screwed and the device is toast? as i today replaced the usb/power board thinking that was the problem and why it wasnt connecting fastboot ect ect , but this has not made any difference and still cant connect to the device, nothing shows up in device manager, drivers were installed (windows 11 with driver signature enforcment disabled, also tried windows 7 and 10 systems) , nor any sound signifying the usb is being plugged in , any advice would be very much appreciated
Does it charge via USB?
Does OTG USB mouse work in TWRP?
Can you verify the following on USB port:
Unit off, charger disconnected, ohmmeter measures:
GND-5V: 8kohm
GND-D1: 3Mohm
GND-D2: 3Mohm
D1-D2: 8Mohm
GND-ID: 300kohm
(meter polarity makes no difference)
Unit off, charger disconnected, diode-test measures:
GND-5V: 2.6V; 0.5V reverse
GND-D1: 1.2V; 0.7V reverse
GND-D2: 1.2V; 0.7V reverse
D1-D2: 1.5V; 1.5V reverse
GND-ID: 0.8V; 0.8V reverse
Unit on, TWRP running, voltmeter measures:
GND-5V: 0V
GND-D1: 0V
GND-D2: 0V

thankyou for the reply and detailed testing, but im not sure if this is a little beyond my skillset, but i suppose i can give it a go, never tried otg mouse as yet, but i will give this a go, as per charging ive done the no battery mod long ago when letting my mate use for his car, so tablet is always displaying 100% charged, edit, since tried mouse in twrp via otg, doesnt work
did u sloved the problem at last? i have got the same problem, but it can charge, and twrp can connect otg mouse(touch screen not working).

Xtrons PSF7FSFA - intermittent USB connection issue

Hiya, new to forum. Done a search and couldn't find any specific help for my issue.
I have an XTRONS android 12 headunit specific shape for a MK4 Ford Mondeo. Model number is PFS7FSFA_B.
The issue I have is with the USB cable and android auto. I had issues with the stock software for screen mirroring in that it needs an Internet connection (better than a mobile hotspot I've read) to validate or something. Couldn't get that to work. Some googling found me the HUR Headunit Reloaded app.
Paid for that and downloaded it. Managed to get it all setup and working. Then after changing screen resolution in the HUR app it would no longer see that I connected my phone. It would charge but wouldnt actually connect.
I'm using the red USB cable that plugs into the headunit per the instructions.
Issue seems intermittent as yesterday I got it working after a lot of fiddling, then it stopped. Then I pulled the power to the Headunit and it got going again.
But this morning not working again.
I attempted to download the wireless app to try that but couldn't really understand which device needed the hotspot running on it as the instructions were a little ambiguous.
Phone is a pixel 7 pro.
Where should I start looking to troubleshoot this issue. OR are these units just junk in the first place?
Any help appreciated
For reference the USB cable I'm using is brand new, high quality braided cable, data transfer on other devices is fine as I checked, I also tried a couple different cables to the same avail. Leading me to think it's either a software issue in the headunit/app or an actual hardware issue?
Evening update on my USB woes, its now stopped charging the phone at all, it does register that I have plugged the cable into the phone, but when I check the "battery app" on the phone it does not show that its charging.
There were 2 USB cables in the box with this unit, a 4pin plug with a red USB socket, and a 6pin plug with a black USB socket, all the info seemed to point towards the red one labelled mirror link that I need to use. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? Do the 4/6pin plugs work differently or have different power outputs or something?
