Home button getting stuck - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi friends
I have a problem with my home button when I press it and then move my finger while pressing to the left the home button gets stuck and then after awhile pops back you can hear it when it does that in general I have tried a few devices and the home button seems to be quite flimsy in general. Do you have similar experiences on your devices? Do you suggest that I return the device and in that case I don't really think that the support is all that great here in Europe when I hear some of you folks in the United States are complaining that you only get a refund from Samsung I'm quite surprised because here in Europe the only thing that will do for you is tell you to send it in and pretend to repair it while they actually do nothing and send it back to you

you can also pull battery, put battery back in. hold vol+/vol- while plugging in USB, that might work too.
I'll take it off your hands for $100
i dont blame you, but remember the vibrant is almost unbrickable. if you cann see pc screen or charging status icon your good. keep trying then sell it for max profit
Ill send you 110.

Sell it full price dude people r gonna try to scam u but u can fix this in 5 minutes.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
well you dont need to pull a battery either... you just hold the up down volume toggle along with the power but and when the screen goes black immediately remove your finger from the power button while still holding up down volume toggle. this will place u back into download mode. don't sell your phone because of frustration. you cant brick this phone.
120 right now. Me me me!

Hey Ryan - thanks for selling the phone to me for $130.
You received my PayPal payment and I am still waiting to receive tracking information.
Under normal circumstances, a message like this would be more appropriate to send through private channels, but I have tried emailing you for three days and calling you back at your google voice number without success. You were very easy to get a hold of before I paid, but seem to have vanished the moment I requested tracking information.
I hope you are not up to something sneaky. I assume with your online presence on twitter, in your blog, and elsewhere, that you're not trying to deceive me, and that you've simply decided to take a break from the internet and from your phone for a few days.
Hmm, except your twitter account was updated just hours ago?
Further googling shows you're actually an Android Developer. Therefore, you probably pretty much know this phone is permanently bricked, but when we talked you came across as though you weren't familiar with procedures for recovering from a soft brick. I find that difficult to believe given your Android experience.
Send me my brick, or send me a refund.
I bought a bricked phone, yes, but right now I feel like my brain is bricked for buying it.
Due diligence folks, due diligence.
I'm on my third one. Just call tmobile tell them your not sure what happened. It's a known issue and if it's in good physical condition they will send you a new one.

Don't give up cuz I was in the same position. Plus the best way to learned is from your mistakes. YouTube & Google good tools to learn. YouTube give you visualization & Google the reading understanding part. I believe you can fix your phone no need to sale it. One thing you need to be patient if not you are not going to learn. Without being patient is important in doing all this learning about Android OS. Modifying, rooting & flash customs roms.
Me... sometimes I want to take my hair off cuz it gets to be but I remember to be patient.
Lucky you that he sold the phone to you.

[Q] Moody power button on Nexus 4

Hi
My Nexus 4 is 8 months old and recently for no reason, my power button started behaving weirdly. Sometimes gently pressing it wont turn off the screen and other times it turns off the screen and turns it on again and on some occasions it works perfectly. It is not a ROM issue because sometimes the phone, if shut down, wont even power up.
But as days are passing by the behavior is getting more and more weird. I do not really need the power button coz I use alternatives, but some day if I need to turn on the phone when it is shut down or force shut down the device when it does not respond, there is no way to do so. (EDIT: Pressing volume down button while connecting to AC supply or USB puts device in fastboot mode. Then it can be rebooted using "fastboot reboot" so I am not very worried now)
I checked other posts on XDA but they claim the button is becoming harder to press. My button is not harder to press; it gets pressed just fine and even gives that clicking feeling when you press it. Only the resulting behavior is weird. Has anyone else had this issue? What could be the problem?
(EDIT 2: The power button seems to work properly if I use my thumb nail to press it)

I purchased the phone from the US but don't live in the US so there's no chance of RMA.
Same thing happened on my phone, mainly after I get my back cover replaced. Now I have to use navigation shortcut to lock the screen and volume button to wake.

Got mine back on Friday, button now works as new. Although, the official repair description didn't really mention what was wrong only that two parts where replaced, no more detail.
dabby91: I recommend you go to the LG website and schedule a repair (lg.com/uk/support/repair-service/schedule-repair). I was without my phone for just over a week and they did a factory reset as well.

Home button problems

I just recently ran into an issue with my home button. It kind of double clicks. When I push it down it clicks twice as if there's sand under it that I'm crushing as I press it and it sounds like hell. I've tried moving paper around it but it didn't help. When I blow on it, it fixes the problem for a few clicks then it's back again. Any ideas? Samsung won't do anything cause I don't have a receipt for the device.

I have the same issue and I have no idea what caused it. I would exchange my device because it's gotten incredibly obnoxious, but I'm on MF3 and rooted, so I'll have to wait until I'm able to flash back to stock.
I read up on the problem and the only advice I've come upon is the blowing method and the paper one you described. The blowing fixes it for me for a little bit as well, but so far nothing permanent. I'm thinking about disassembling my device and going for it from there, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to do that yet.
Anyways best of luck, let's hope someone else has found a better fix for this annoying issue!

This seems to be a common problem, talking with a friend of mine who runs a Samsung store and sees this issue often. What has been reported to them is some of the Galaxy S4's were built with an 'alteration'. It's basically a defect with the home button where if the device is tapped just hard enough from either side it can knock the mechanism below the button causing the 'sticking' or double clicking issue. It's basically knocked the mechanism out of alignment and won't properly function.
This doesn't mean you've dropped your device but Samsung inadvertently said nudging it from the side can do it. Each phone has it's own manufacturer warranty on it for defects such as thing. No receipt should be necessary for this, just an eligible device. Contact Samsung and let them know what the deal is.
*NOTE: If you've rooted your device or altered it in anyway that would void the warranty, clearly you cannot get it swapped out. So as they said, they are on the MF3 build with root access and cannot flash back.
-Hope this helps.
So shouldn't I just get a replacement shipped rather than me sending it in for repair?

Ugh I have this issue too. Any way to fix the mechanism yourself?
Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk 4
I'm trying and can't. Samsung won't do anything, so I have to deal with it. It makes annoying clicks and sometimes it's hard to push.

Have to exchange my Z1s: problem registering long presses

Unfortunately my Z1s is going back: I'm having issues with the screen properly registering a long press when trying to move icons/widgets, or long press on an empty area to select a widget or app to drop there. It started out happening on rare occasion and I ignored it, but it got worse and worse and worse until now it's almost always a struggle whenever I want to do any of those things. And, when that's happening I also noticed the keyboard is unusable for swipe style because it keeps splitting up longer words into lots of shorter ones. In both cases it seems as if the screen is thinking I've lifted my finger when I haven't.
So, back it goes. T-Mobile is sending me a new one to arrive tomorrow or Monday and this one is heading back. Fingers crossed, because I'm loving everything else about the phone!

I have the same issue. I thought it was the way I was holding the phone because I couldn't reproduce it with the phone laying flat on a table.
I am probably going to return mine as well.

Wow, interesting observation! I just tried it out and so far mine is behaving the same: lay it down and long press works, pick it up and it stops working.
After additional experimentation if I lay the phone in the palm of my hand with fingers not touching the sides it continues to work fine, but when having my fingers touch the side of the phone (while making sure to not curl over onto the top) long press eventually stops working.
looks like Z1 inherited touchscreen issues.. not good Sony, not good at all...

Uh oh, if you're the third person with this problem out of a small group of initial orders I'm guessing this is just the way the device is going to be and my next one will behave the same.
If that's the case I'll have to decide if this issue is a deal-breaker or not. There's lots I like about the phone, and in the long term I could probably live with holding carefully and/or setting down when I want to rearrange apps/widgets, but if it happens enough that I can't use swipe style keyboards without them freaking out any time my fingers touch the side of the phone I'll have to think long and hard about it.
I'll keep you posted.

Good to hear guys! It gives me some hope my new one won't have the same issue. It's being delivered today.
My first one took a couple hours to start manifesting the problem, so if I can use it a full day or two without it happening I'll be cautiously optimistic my new one doesn't suffer from it.

Galaxy s4 reboot issue (battery already changed)

Got a galaxy s4. It reboots and sometimes can't turn it on for ages. Then sometimes you can turn it on straightaway.

i would say with yours mate thats just the update being a pain? rather than a real serious issue, theres a thread on xda relating to this update just search for that thread bud
Its strange so far with this s4
ive replaced the battery with a battery from ebay, looks like an official samsung one..no difference
reverted to stock..no change still reboots.
tried a few custom roms, reboots occurs. tried google edition, still the same
lowered processor speed, for some reason when i go to rom toolbox the phones whacking out at 1820 mhz..i dont know if thats normal?
another strange issue. When the phone switches on it takes a fair while for the mobile network to connect, ive owned a fair few phones but this one really does take a long time,
anyone have any idea at all, before i got to send it back to samsung and wait for 5 years to get it back
If it shuts down and you can't reboot anymore, then it's a hardware issue.
