S3 Neo CM13 ? - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When will cm13 s3 neo ?

They will never let know the ETA.. but a thing that i would like is that the developers make us know if they are working on it, and in which state is the rom.. to let us know the problems, also to find testers for the ROM.. anyway is useless asl for ETA

Me and oranaise started working on it and we abonded it, because it needs so much time to fix all the bugs, (which we dont have) and also it is very complicated, cm13 is now very buggy and not for daily usage at all, we have already enough testers which were also reporting the bugs and made logcats, s3 neo will get cm13 but it will take a lot of time.

That's right, maybe a new dev will buy s3 neo

I doubt anyone will buy an s3 neo in 2016, it's a two year old phone and the market has changed a lot. There are way better options for the €165 it currently priced at in the netherlands. I guess we'll just have to be patient

Phone is pretty decent at performance side, even nowadays. But its old fashioned, and i think except for the Moto G there are no other choices way better than 9301i. I`m going to use it to the end of its life...it has a perfect design even in terms of shock impact absorption and can even resist falls from 3 meters against a marble floor without breaking (babys ...). That`s more than any other phone can say.

Same here, I sandpapered out the shabby silver edges to black, almost like gave it a new life. Looks really good.

Is it possible the cm13 for s3 to be ported for our s3 neo? They have the same resolution but i don't know if it's going to work...

No, that would be extremely unlikely. The chipset and a lot of the other specs the s3 has are totally different compared to the s3 neo. The s5 mini is our best bet since it has very similar specs.

There is a cm13 for s5 mini. So it would be great if anyone can port it for s3 neo. If not, i will try when i have more free time.

I lose my hope ._.

I have just bought it do u have the same issues

I have just bought my galaxy note n7000 kernel LA1 upgrading from captivate. Actually i am not that happy, other than the large high resolution screen i feel nothing is better, may be also gps. Captivate gps was ****.
First of all touch without using the pen is a disaster, i think everyone of u tried fruit ninja and discovered that this new pressure sensitivity is ruining everything, it is close to resisitive touch screens.
I dont know the reason but data conectivity over carrier is slower. I dont know the reason but i am sure 100% huge diffrence.
And there is no cyanogen mod for gt-n7000 which is sad
Moreover i cant root it except with a downgrade which is ****, i will be waiting for a stable CM9 or official ICS which of appears first
So you'd like everyone served to you on a silver platter?
If you're not happy with the phone, why don't you pack it up and send it to me? I'll bear the difficulty and hardships that you're experiencing with the phone.
Don't suffer anymore. Relieve yourself of the phone and send it to me. For the sake of camaraderie, I'll do it.
P.S. Just do the damn downgrade with PC Odin, root it, install Mobile Odin, upgrade to the latest stock ROM while keeping ROOT + CWM, and enjoy your phone.

firstly the pressure sensitivity only applies to the pen and not to touch, i have no problems at all playing fruit ninja or any other touch games without the pen.
sencond... just because the root exploit was fixed in a upgrade does not make the phone any worse, it simply means samsung are doing their job.
third... downgrading is **** why? u just flash a stock rom, root it, and then upgrade to a newer version than u are already running with root kept... so u have a more stable version than what you are running aswell as the added root functionality.
as for waiting for ICS or CM9 to be happy... there is NOTHING wrong with GB right now, sure ICS might add improvements and some new features but that doesnt mean that GB is not doing its job right now.
Go buy a nokia it seems like it would be more suited to you!

Further more, if he searched a little bit he would find that he does not need to downgrade if he does not like it that much, just flash one of the pre rooted latest GB ROMs and then CF Root, that's it!

Someone send this poor guy a box of tissues.
Seriously though, you clearly did not do your homework before buying the phone or any research before making this post.
As already stated, rooting is easy. Not so hard to flash a different rom.
And again as already stated, touch is not pressure sensitive, you may want to have your fingers and or head examined.
The fail is strong with this one.
Seriously... depending on the availability of root exploits for root when it's a SAMSUNG and there are 34583428342 other paths to root? dafuq?

Download the pre-rooted ROMs that can be flashed using PC ODIN.
youtube.com /watch?v=Uon-2HnzQ7k&feature=youtu.be
in real it is more apparent, notice while I am moving my finger quickly some times it stops responding, but using the pen it is non stop. Moreover the pen creates a perfect straight line while my finger makes a true zigzag, i know my finger will not make a straight line like the pen but the zigzag is so strong.
++ stylus pen work perfectly on my brother galaxy S plus 9001 while it nearly doesn't respond on my note, one out of five moves work

As per what has been hinted at by others, AOSP, Cyanogen Mod and AOKP are all available for the Note, and all work more than well enough to be considered stable, daily-usage ROMs. Head over to the Android Development section and choose the one you like. I am with ICS Stunner (AOKP-based) after having tried AOSP and CM. My initial plan was to use a vanilla ICS ROM until official Samsung release (to get all S-Pen features and FM Radio back -- yes I do use the FM thingie ), but I'm actually not so sure anymore... I'll probably stay with ICS Stunner at least until we can get tablet UI on Samsung ROM
As to the pressure sensitivity issue, all works well on my side. I haven't tried Fruit Ninja, but didn't have any issue with any other app/game I've tried.
I am currently running Criskelo's ICS V2, which is very good in my opinion.
However, at this precise moment in time I would not advise a new Note owner to flash any ICS ROM due to the risk of a hard brick due to bugs in the currently available ICS kernels.
I've had my Note for 6+ months now, and I'm fully aware of the risks involved, so I'm not going to go back to Gingerbread myself, but given the official update is likely only a few weeks away, I would advise anyone else who hasn't already flashed ICS to wait.
Once official ICS drops, the kernel source will also drop and the ICS development scene will become a lot safer!
Regards,
Dave
You should have at least posted the link nicely without us having to copy, paste and fix the link.
Anyway, have you tried doing the same with other app like s memo? Also, the game is not designed for you to blindly swipe across the screen.
Do you have screen protector installed?
For data connection, what is the speed difference during file transfer? Did you try with 2 devices side by side? It could be that your carrier is currently having problem.

Quad-core, 1GB ram + jellybean & widget menu lags everytime

Is this real life? Can't Samsung allocate some ram for it and cache it so I doesn't lag on start up everytime?
Isn't JB still unofficial?
Yes jellybean is still unofficial, but I still get this On ics
I just find it weird that I can play nova 3 flawlessly yet lag in the widgets menu. Samsung need to fix this.
Wait for official Jellybean.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Aye. The widgets menu always lags. It's pretty annoying that a quad-core phone with 1GB of RAM can't handle such a simple task.
I think samsung forgot to include "Project Butter" for jelly bean s3
Seriously... What's wrong with this phone? It's really is a huge disappointment isn't it. My old s2 way out performs this thing. I bet even the huawei accend performs better. Prob worth replacing this with it! Doesn't it have 2gb of ram too?

Don't think smoothness is their highest priority right now, but to work out all of the bugs. They'll work on smoothing it out after it has been released. That's at least how they've always done it, not that their original firmwares haven't always been smooth, but they are almost always a lot better when they mature. The original firmwares for the SGS2 were really slow, but Samsung managed to improve the performance by a lot in later firmwares and the same goes for the SGS3.

For me SG3 is WAY better than SG2, it runs well, it's smooth as hell, impresive battery, great gaming and screen... OH! But it lags when entring Widgets menu, a menu I hardly touch on the first day I configure my phone or maybe if I install some new app!

I agree wtf is the widget draw lagging for ' you'd think they'd alacate a touch of ram for some kind of stay in memory script like apex launcher does for launcher its simple really but Samsung devs suck [email protected] at common sense' hopefully they'll pull there finger out on official jb and nullify the (error) before a custom rom Dev writes a script to fix the issue and maybe they'll fix the grey cloud issue on lock screen with there much hyped ripple effect using black wallpapers ' this phone should not lagg, jerk, stutter or redraw period, p.s I luv my nearly perfect s3 rant over

I can compromise on smoothness because I know custom kernals and custom roms will handle that job pretty fine. All I want now is the bugs to be fixed, esp fc bugs.

I don't think the way you do about your comment. I do agree with him about what he said that the s2 runs better because I actually compared them both and the s2 runs faster and smoother. Also it is useless when you say "it runs well, its smooth as hell..." when you are trying to justify a comparison.. The s3 does run well, and it is smooth (well not really) but comparing it to the s2 we get the s2 as a winner. Try looking at the ram usage for the s3 and the s2, the s3 is almost always locked at 470+ and maximum is 780, the s2 with recently cleared memory has 200 mbs of ram used, and can reach up to 800.
So don't attack him just because you are too self righteous about your opinion. He has a point.
Android isn't really optimised for muli-core, only one can be used at any time. The SII runs better as it's lighter with less bloatware, don't buy a phone purely for the fact it has great specs because until Android can fully utilise all 4 cores you're no better off than someone who has 2.

Hi,
Look HERE
Some battery saving tips.
Congrats on your S4, although I have to ask, why did you buy it?
Battery life isn't much of an issue for me, in the end it doesn't really matter since you can easily swap the battery out for a spare one. I usually carry my charger with me when I go to work and stuff, I just try not to think about the battery life too much. In the end, there isn't a single phone on the market with specs like these that has awesome battery life. Sometimes I see people with the latest phone, brightness all the way down, stuff like GPS/Wifi/etc constantly off... Why would you buy a state of the art smartphone when you're only using half of the potential? Underclocking is also something I wouldn't do, I just don't see the point of doing it. If you wanted a phone with good battery life and a slower CPU, you should've bought another phone imo.
When it comes to rooting, just ask yourself: Do you have a need for rooting your phone? Personally I always root my phone because I want to be the administrator, not the guest. I like that I can have apps do certain things for me which wouldn't be possible otherwise (like blocking ads or being able to protect my phone with Cerberus, etc). So if you don't really need it, let it be. If you want to take control, root it.

why i bought it? because my s2 bricked itself ( shut down and i couldnt get into cwm or download mode and the jig wasnt a help too ^^ ) so I decided to get a new phone.... the htc one was my first choice but it wasnt avaiable in austria till june... JUNE!!!!! so I bought the galaxy s4 which i DO NOT regret at all
i dont need all those features like airview and those sensors ^^ i also like the look of the stock android roms ( running nova prime launcher atm) and if rooting and flashing a new rom and kernel would bring more juice into my day it would be even greater
I over and underclocked before so I kinda know what I am doing .... BUT should i wait will the official google s4 is out and there are custom roms made of that?
Well if you're not sure, waiting for the nexus version could be worth it. I just hope we can flash that rom to the i9505, but we won't know for sure until it's here.

I don't count the Note 2 as a phone, but a phablet.

The chances of seeing AOSP/CM/CUSTOMIZATIONS

What's the chances of us seeing production for the GS6 anytime after its release date? Only because its rocking the "Exynos processor" which has delayed a couple projects for GS4 and GS5 in previous occasions. And knox is stronger than ever before according to Samsung's MWC presentation..
What are your thoughts on this.. will development be slow as it was on the GS5?
Thanks in advance!

I predict it will take several months after release before we see any AOSP/CM support. Samsung is really bad about releasing firmware documentation as is, the new processor will probably complicate things further. It seems like they don't want people in control of their devices, even going as far as to lock bootloaders...
The AT&T variant of GS5 doesn't have a functional CM yet, so I wouldn't count on it happening anytime soon. I would like the option, but I can live with a debloated TW rom like I have.
Well, I wouldn't really care. Why spend to dollar on cutting edge hardware to put buggy, featureless firmware that isn't optimized for it anyway.

Because that's what makes android open source, customizable, don't you wanna be able to under/overclock your kernel to save battery? Featureless? Ill take the privilege of being able to customize any day over gimmicky features[emoji110]
slim with aosp based roms. you should be able to get stockish based roms and kernels though.
With exynos, i think not

But you are a small minority and the majority don't care one bit about AOSP Roms and under/over clock. So better get used to it as Samsung and every other company in this game is in for the money not the minorities pleasure.

100% correct[emoji106] harsh but correct...but my question is: will the devs have a way around it??

Are there any large minorities?
Also here on XDA those who want to hack, tweak and mod their phones are the majority. And there always were manufacturers who were willing to produce very good quality phones that were relatively easy to unlock and flash custom recoveries. And they sometimes also used quite open architecture, like the Qalcomm SOCs.
Samsung was one of these, but lately the whole knox=warranty business started to make it a lot harder to root phones. Although those who didn't care for their knox warranty flags, were able to flash custom roms early. (I waited the whole year before I tripped my knox)
But with the S6 they changed three things at the same time: brought back Exynos, removed the external sd card, and sealed the battery in. For the first thing, it's Qualcomm who the real cuplrit is, because they mucked up their 64bit processor. But the rest is Apple's fault, including then need to produce a 64 bit processor.

Stock TW with stock kernel is typically more stable and optimized for performance and battery life anyway. Maybe your argument would have made a point 3 or 4 years ago when Samsung really didn't have all that much experience creating proprietary software that performed well and is optimized. This was back in the S2 and S3 era.
Things are different nowadays and if you really don't know what you're doing, all these options you can tweak can really have an adverse side effect on your day to day usage of the phone.
LMAO who cares ?
if u want AOSP roms just get nexus and save yourself the waiting and the BS = ( Samsung don't support aosp bla bla bla...)

I care, and the rest of xda that roots phones does, the nexus 6 is too big, and the nexus 5 is out dated, stop being a sheep and break out those chains, tweak what u want and dont be complacent just because samsung has it tweaked at a certain frequency or set up a certain eay doesnt mean u cant go beyond and use the phone at its fullest potential

rooting phone and modifying it doesn't always mean u want AOSP roms , specially after xposed framework came over i totally stopped flashing roms and saved the hassle that come with flashing roms and wiping and ****....
sheep? yeah im sheep cuz i want to use my phone with all its functions not flashing buggy roms on my phone that will make lose 80% features of the phone especially cam and speaker and battery optimizations and samsung addons that come with TW , so yeah good luck with buggy AOSP
After seeing all the good things this phone has going for it from the fingerprint scanner, speed of the UI, camera improvements and the new theme engine(that Avengers theme looks nice by the way) there is no way I'm missing out on all that by flashing aosp on it. The funny thing is I used to run aosp exclusively on all my Samsung phone through the S4. The S5 is the first Samsung phone that I've run Touchwiz on 99% of the time. The only the I want on the S6 is root+adaway+maybe some slight debloating.

Yeah because I'm going to miss hovering my wet/dirty hands over the phone to answer a call, or tilting my head to scroll up/ down, pausing the video when i look away, shutting my screen off when i fall asleep watching a movie.. yup I'm gonna miss all those "features" BLOATWARE yup imma miss all that over speed and battery...
Yours Truly sarcasm...

Thanks, but unfortunately the Moto Maxx is verizon only [emoji20] and the Moto X 2014 is a drawback for me because of the battery.. 2400 mah battery... But i was once in the checkout page for the moto x. 2014 edition 32 gb, i even got accepted for the motorola credit.. but then i saw the M8 on swappa.com for $460(Brand new sealed) and it was a no brainer..but cm12 on the m8 has speaker distortion issues.... So im here hoping for the best when the s6 comes out...

Why install an S8 rom?

This is a serious question. What is the appeal in s8 roms? I've been thinking of trying one myself. So far I've tried a few stock based roms and lineage (which wasn't very good, honestly) and am currently very happy with the Superstock rom.
What do s8 roms offer over stock s7 ones? Are they as stable, is the camera as good, and are there any negatives? Thanks a lot for any helpful replies. [emoji3]

In my opinion S8 ported roms are way smoother than stock. Its very smooth..
Some S8 ported roms has very bad battery life and some has good and decent battery life..
And also in my several tests i found S8 ported Camera is not good as stock one.
All S8 ported roms are super stable only.
The mains things about s8 ports is to use latest apps and features (infinity wallpaper, new lockscreen and every apps in latest dream UI version with all new s8 icons
But of course bugs cause of the different screen ratio , different hardware and nav bar , etc, so worst battery life etc..
I prefer personally s7 base with s8 apps , like ambasadii v15 + the add on that install so apps and theme the Rom to do style , and get stability performance and battery of s7 base in s8 style
And about aosp I agree. It's very sad , it's usable but compare to other aosp of other Samsung devices it's not the best, it's seems that aosp is way harder in s7 than other devices
go for renovate rom..u will really love it...good feature ...g8 performance and battery life...even camera is good..

Please let me know buddy
Somebody knows about the s8 camera? I explain, it's the same sensor as s7 but Samsung said there is an all new software treatment or I don't know what that increase the camera quality. (I am like many absolutely not sure what it is or if it's really true but anyway) is this "new software treatment" in camera app , that we "get" if we install on our s7 or in the s8 software that we can experience with an s8 rom port? What are you thinking about it guys?
