Well if I can install custom recoveries... that means it is unlocked?? If not — how do I check is my bootloader locked or unlocked?
If you have custom recovery its unlocked, what ROM are you trying to install it's possible that the ROM you are trying to install is not compatible with the version of android you have and your kernel what kernel are you running and what android are you running and what ROM are u trying to installl

Search for the correct ROM and correct kernel based on the baseband version in your about phone section for example my ROM is based on BPA1 baseband

OK that is the right ROM for your phone, try redownloading it and flashing the ROM through Odin, it's possible the download is corrupted. Download the ROM again put it on your SD but not as a zip file extract the md5 from it and try it that way

Before you try Odin try it with recovery and use a new downloaded file I think the file is being corrupted when you transfer it to the SD card how are you getting it on the SD, format the SD card if you can and just extract the md5 file and put it on SD card that way,

I've redownloaded the file many times. Even downloaded it straight from my phone. No luck. Same problem. Started thinking that there is a problem with my micro sd card itself (I'll try later with a different card).
And one more thing How to exactly extract the md5 file from that zip? Because there isn't one in it.
Your SD card is most likely corrupt don't worry about extracting the md5 I'm assuming there is no md5 because its just a bunch of files in the zip witch is fine try another SD card and let me know if it works I bet its the sd

Thanks for all the help tho!
I ran a benchmark on my micro sd card. Write is OK but the Read speed is 0.12mb/s and then crashes. I really hope that the sd card is my problem. Just ordered a new samsung evo micro sd card.
Here is a pic just of sd card crashing lel.
I remember that sometimes I couldn't view files on sd card from pc, it would just disconnect.
Thanks again. I'll keep you up to date on how the installation with a new sd card went.
Oh and BTW the phone is rooted. That aint no problem these days.

Hey, can you please let us know how to update CWM from the current version to 6.0.4.3 ??? .
Thanks in advance
Dear friends
Have just bought a Note 4 (SM910F) and spend a few hours yesterday and failed to install ANY custom ROM on my device.
Status: Currently on Lollipop 5.0.1, not Root
1. Installed TWRP (and tried CWM)
2. Downloaded custom ROM to sdcard
3. Booted into recovery mode.
4. Wipe cache/dalvik
4. Install from zip
5. Result = Boot loop
Recovered the phone by using ODIN and stock firmware (which reverts to stock recovery). I tried about 4 different ROMS (Cm12, x-note, sweet, etc) and all had the same result. Only thing i can think of is ...do I need to root BEFORE I try installing a custom ROM? i dont remember doing this with my Note 3.
Ive been using the Note series for years and have never had this issue installing a custom ROM. Can anyone help? I cant use the Note 4 in its current state!

Thank you for your response.
1. TWRP - Im sure i have the right one.
1. The ROMS are definitely compatible with the device. I checked.
2. Bootloader? hmm does this get installed by the recovery module or something I had to directly install?
Anyway no harm in starting fresh. Il re-download everything and make sure I have it right.
Thanks
You said currently 5.0.1, did you do an upgrade from Kitkat ? Kitkat and Lollipop has different bootloaders and is the reason for most of troubles with flashing.
Go back to stock en go further on,at first root with Chainfire-Auto root then flash the right TWRP ,i use TWRP 2.8.6.0. Do NOT use 2.8.5.0!!!!!. Iam using Odin 3.09 for flashing.

By stock ,i mean the firmware.
So if the device came with Lollipop it should have the Lollipop bootloader. An you must search for root and Twrp for Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop root + Twrp Altough on my S4 they work for both.
Did you buy the phone new or second hand? If on second hand ,did you verrify it was working ok?
And IMPORTANT if you buy second hand ,it could be a clone, what dit you pay if in this case?
---------- Post added at 03:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:13 PM ----------
Please download from the Playstore PhoneInfo,it's for samsung devices and search in the harware section for Snapdragon or Exynos, if that not appears you are ****ed ,witch means it's a clone

Dont think its a clone but to be sure ive checked and its a qualcom snapdragon, however im not sure if the owner before me bought it with lollipop or kk and upgraded it. How can i check if it has the right bootloader? wouldnt installing a ROM update the bootloader too?
Also i have the stock firmware installed.
So the plan is:
1. Update the recovery to TWRP (version you mentioned)
2. Root with CF-autoroot
2. Wipe the system clean, inc dalvik, cache
3. Install custom ROM
Sound good?

Hi!
I got a honor 7 PLK-AL10 64GB version and I just upgraded it to Android 5.1.1 with the site/download of EMUi huawei com in the chinese version.
Has anyone done this also? Why is it not noted here before?
Is this fine with you? As thats the CN version, not a europe version, but it works fine so far.
Has anyone got the Huawei Cloud got to run and download themes?

Most people here have the 16gb European version, not the Chinese version, and I'm not sure if they are inter-compatible.

Yes you can, but first you have to do unroot and install stock recovery.
5.1.1 ROM is a Developer Edition, but it works for me as a stable version.
You did not write what is your rom and I do not know if there is a valid order of installation:
B173 (5.0.2) - B708 (5.1.1) - 5.11.1 (5.1.1)

If your device is not root, you download the rom version suitable for your device.
1-Unzip the downloaded file ( Recommended use 7z to extract).
2-Copy the folder dload in to Internal Storage or SD card.
3-Go to Setting app : Setting All> Updater>Menu>Local update.
4-Your device will reboot and update.
5-Enjoy
@ancola66, thanks, but where do we download the ROM from for our version, PLK-L01?
I've been on the Chinese web site with Google translate but can find any reference to the PLK-L01.
Using Chinese 64gb as well, but i haven't yet moved to developer roms because kind of lazy to update the rom every 15 days. Any new features on that ?

Sent from my PLK-AL10 using Tapatalk
I've updated my device to B330 (of course), but I need root too. I didn't see a way to do this at the moment, so I've done a few bits to make it happen.
The process for rooting your device is as follows:
- Download my patched boot image - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid)
- Extract the zip file
- Reboot to bootloader ('adb reboot bootloader' or power on with cable connected and volume down pressed)
- Use fastboot to flash the patched boot image ('fastboot flash boot boot.policypatched.b330.img')
- Reboot device and push latest SuperSU zip (must be >2.50) to /sdcard
- Reboot to bootloader and flash TWRP
- Reboot device and start recovery ('adb reboot recovery')
- Flash the SuperSU zip
- Reboot (flash stock recovery image back if desired)
- Hey presto, you'll be rooted! Any questions, feel free to ask.
I will build this to a full automated 'superboot' (auto root) in due course, but this should get everyone going.
Note that you should not apply future OTAs after rooting without rolling back first (maybe grab a boot and /system backup before flashing the above).
Enjoy!

Well done!
But you should have done a bit more research, as there was a post saying that the multi tool does that already
No biggie, I like to do my own thing. And it's part of something bigger...

isn’t it enough to flash @sminki ’s version of TWRP (TWRPPLK) to install SuperSU?
It should work for MM like @lockmunk wrote here: -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64747295&postcount=3

If you have to flash a boot image, then via recovery flash SU, what exactly is in this boot image? As that's no different to what people already do... just wondering - edit: ah ok, patched policy, it says so..

People are too quick to think that because something has been changed (in this case security policy) that we'll have CM16 running by the weekend...

I'd also like to know this, I'm on B330 and I haven't unlocked the bootloader yet either. Would this be needed for kingroot, I presume not?
EDIT: I've just tried the app and it won't let me root through that so I'm presuming you need the PC application.
It will say cannot root but if you click it anyway it will work

It gets to 28% and then says it can't root. I'm on b330, what firmware are you on?
Update: Ok, so it works on the PC but not via the app.
Update2: Ok guys, I DO NOT recommend using kingroot via PC when on firmware 330 as after a restart I can only boot into rescue mode. I'm wondering if I needed an unlocked bootloader first :/ After many attempts I managed to reinstall my firmware via sd card.

No worries, it was sorted in the end. A full firmware installation from the dload folder on the SD card, wiping everything, was the only way after I had that boot problem.
kingroot suxs, feels like an application that is filled with virus.

I trust it about as much as my daughters boyfriend
Just brought an A2017 128GB/4GB device off of AliExpress. But supposedly it will not do OTAs because they've modified something on there. Is I possible to just flash one of the stock image zips through the stock recovery to restock it so that OTAs will work once again?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/axon-7-chinese-stock-roms-t3436817
Go to the Mega Mirror, go to Full Update Images, grab A2017-B11 (or any other A2017 image, not A2017G or A2017U!), rename to update.zip, put on microSD card, boot into stock recovery, select apply update from sdcard. (if it gives you a permissions error, boot back into the phone, enable developer options, enable OEM Unlocking. might need this enabled even if you aren't doing any unlocking)

You can just do a factory reset to get this working again, you will need to go to zte market to download google. Just do a search for google installer, install google play services, gmail, playstore and anything else you want. After installing the first 3 items, open Mi-Assisstant, go to autorun apps and make the 3 google apps mentioned autorun apps.
I reset device then went to play store. You will be able to log in BUT it may take up an hour before you can actually update & install apps. Going to gmail will ask you to update play services but you might have an issue in that first hour, be persistant and patient. It will eventually update and allow installation of apps and will go to gmail account...
If you don't want google on your device then don't bother.
Bah humbug. Got it finally, stupid me. The stock zips contain an update.zip inside the original zip. So had to unzip that and flash that. All working now, on B11. Got google play working by just downloading the play apk from apkmirror.
Thanks for the help.
I'm waiting for mine to arrive from aliexpress. This will be useful when i get it. Thanks.

I've got all of those top English uk...
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Those are the Chinese only apps, so there's no other languages to be shown by them. The first one snatch lucky money can be disabled in the settings top menu. The second is SogouInput-ZTE, that can be disabled through apps manager. The last one is just the standard sd card first time notification that doesn't have the appropriate translation and can just be safely swiped away.

I'm finding my way round it. Though when i enter a new contact it has chinese writing next to it as well as english. And a few google playstore stopped working messages. But i like this more than the euro version. It's just not dependent on google all. So many choice of apps. Liking it

Hi alom, so you didn't install the European version but just updated the Chinese one?
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Yes. I just updated the firmware and installed the apps i required and it's running fine ?

Cool, and you just installed playstore without problems because mine is closing down constantly
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Yea. No probs. I think you may need to wait a while before you can sign in. Also, do a restart after installing the playstore
Sent from my ZTE A2017 using Tapatalk
Working smoothly now, thanks! There is even no need for a non Chinese rom I guess, have set most of the things as I like them to be.

Hello guys, I'm planning to get this model from Aliexpress, 4gb ram, 128gb rom.
Now I'd like to know if I can use gravitybox with this Aosp version of the rom, and if it doesn't get any problems. The reason I need gravitybox is because of the 4g/3g switcher.
I currently own a Jiayu s3, and bored of that device. Really need this Axon 7 soon. I don't see any stable rom for this device yet. CM13 looks buggy with audio and GPS not working.
