Does it really worth rooting? - Galaxy Note5 General

I had s3 & s5 before and i really enjoyed these devices after rooting them
My question is does rooting note 5 worth tripping my knox
Does battery life become better or worse?
Please advice

It's the same it doesn't matter. Battery life is good either way.

Don't you ever do it , i've done it and i'm crying and i regret that i've done it

I used to root more to try to make my devices faster, and in the early days - to use certain apps - like screenshot apps which needed root. Nowadays the phones are plenty fast, and there are tons of apps, for all sorts of needs, which don't require root of course.
I'm busier than I used to be, so I don't flash as much as I used to, and the phones aren't the hobbies they used to be.
But if you are new to customizing, rooting, etc. and you like to tinker, especially when or if you don't care about anything going wrong, then rooting is good fun to try and do. It becomes addictive flashing all sorts of ROMs for free, too.
Just be sure to use the correct network settings so there are no complications with data fees.
It's harder to screw that up nowadays, but I learned the hard way back in about 2008.
Anyway, go on..
You know you want to..

depend on your needs.
I was nexus user before root is a must. to gain more battery life and performance. some customization is a bonus.
but when I have note5, I think this phone doesn't need root to achieve it.
also in mu country there is some feature called galaxy gift which gives lot of freebies everyday lol .

First device I've not rooted, now that we have Android Pay in the UK don't want to lose the functionalities. Use to root mainly to get rid of ads but AdGuard does a good job on non rooted devices. Enjoying the device without root using AdGuard and Package Disabler.

Well for me? Yeah. It unlocks the very potential of android which is customization and how you want your phone to be. It actually depends on you if youre fine with stock or not. But i suggest go for it. There are allots of great roms and custom kernels for the note 5 go try them out.

I can not think of having Note 5 without root

has anyone returned to stock with blur?

just wondering..i kinda like how blur looks, i was going to SBF, Root, and deodex but stay with stock moto rom...
anyone? reasons?
Personally, I just don't trust ROMs. No way of verifying security of my info, and seeing as I keep a lot of personal information on my phone, I just don't do it. Also, I use a lot of blue features (like the email...SO much better than Gmail! And K9 seems clunky to me). Not only that, I can theme my current ROM and have it look awesome without having to really mess with my phone a lot. It just isn't worth the hassle for me after I bricked my phone and had to SBF...when my nandroid failed.

What how did you deodex the stock rom? What themes have you used with stock rom?
I did a manual deodex on my system, installed a skinned HTC_IME (black), installed that dark gray status bar mod, and am looking forward to the black Talk app the guys are working on. I have Launcher Pro Plus with 3 widgets stacked on top of each other and the NexusKang live wallpaper.

If you are going to stay with the stock rom- why are you going to SBF? Or do you mean that you are just going to do a factory reset? Just a little confused because you are already on the factory rom- so I am not sure why you would go through all the trouble of using RSDLite and hooking up your phone to the computer and doing the SBF when you can just factory reset your phone and accomplish the very same thing.
I am using a custom rom- but there is nothing wrong with blur. blur is actually pretty high quality stuff in my opinion. Visually i thought it was a fail. But as far as utilizing the hardware and software of the phone- I think it is excellent. It does a lot of great stuff that the custom roms do not incorporate. For instance most custom roms do not incorporate DNLA or the HDMI out - which were both big selling points for the phone.
What you can do with blur- root it. Make yourself a good clean back up and store it a couple of places. then you can either rename the junk you don't like (i.e. NFSShift.apk.bak, vznavigator.apk.bak etc) so it no longer loads up. Or you can remove it all together since you have a back up.
You can theme it.
You can overclock it (I am running 1.3).
People with custom roms boast about how fast they are and then they bust out their quadrant scores. The numbers may look good- but for the vast majority of users- they will notice no difference between a custom rom and the stock blur rom. I can say that bumping up the cpu to 1.3 made a noticeable difference- but you can do that with rooted blur.
just my .02
cheers

[POLL] Rooted 1.6 vs Unrooted 2.1

Performance-wise, looks-wise, snappiness-wise, unbrand-factor, etc.
/vote and discuss
Perfomence wise, it is a HUGE improvement from 1.6. The phone runs amazingly smooth, and is a lot of fun to scroll through the menu's because it doens't feel like a struggle anymore.
Visually, it looks amazing. The best looking UI I have seen on a phone, so far (and I mean 'so far').
In terms of unbranding, not so good. I honsetly couldn't believe Sony Ericsson was responsible for all that crap-ware, I thought it was from my provider. But all my provider's stuff was wiped when I updated. So, uhh, what is SE doing? But that isn't much of an issue, when, with ADW.Launcher, you can just create a 'drawer' category and hide all the crap-ware. Pretend it doesn't exist.

As for the lack of root, I can live without it. There are alternatives to almost anything that requires root. But when/if (
) a root does come out, this phone is about to get 10 times better. ;D
Isn't it beutiful? :3
Unfortunatly on 1.6 there is a lack of many important apps. So I claim that newer soft is more important than root, but without root they spoiled our fun.
([email protected])
I voted for root. I really need wifi tethering. Plus i hate the crapware.
I like 2.1. when root is come, i do it. but nothing wrong with me on urooted phone
I vote for my unroot 2.1 X8, but i hope we get ROOT soon.
voted for rooted 1.6 except the unrooted 2.1, the reason is that without root I can not remove all that crappy apps, can not make the backup and tune the framework.. therefore I am staying with rooted 1.6 until root available for 2.1
Votet for 2.1 Unrooted
I like it now
At 1.6 it was just to crappy and i cant use some apps but now hehe
I dont need the Root so mucht but when it comes for 2.1 it's going to be better

Actually it is.
However, you should use LauncherPro, not ADW. LP is way smoother.
i voted for 2.1
but i love 1.6 rooted don't ask me how
but ofcours when 2.1 be rooted will be the top

It sure is, but I can't help feel that LP is just a propriety version of ADW, with a lot of features killed off.
I think 2.1 is better by far. I can live without rooting. After all its android theres an app for pretty much everything. They'll be a way to root it soon enough but theres no rush for now. just do a bit of searching and youll find an app for what you need
FCW
Could you help me out? i've been searching a lot for an app like Barnacle for non-rooted phones. Thanks!
Can you sacrafice the wi-fi tether for a USB tether?
AKTW
Unfortunately i tether my ipod touch. I do not have the luxury of usb.
But thanks anyway!
vote for my rooted 1.6 X8, and waiting for 2.1 root to upgrade~
votet for 2.1 unrooted. I like new things.

This phone is great.

Can I just say that this phone is great. Samsung really made me happy. I have some of the issues on these forums but consider them quite minor given the benefits the phone allows me.
It's by far and away the best phone i've used. And i'd like to think I have played with/owned most of them, except the latest nokias.
For all the troubles people are reporting there aren't enough of us saying how great it is.
Lets not forget though that the people on this forum also need thanks as they're the ones helping to fix most of the SGS2 troubles some are reporting. Bravo.
I feel that the troubles people are experiencing are minor. Which is great as it means Samsung really put on a good show from day one if all people are complaining about are what I would consider minor usability issues.
At this rate i'll be moving from recommending HTC's latest handsets as the top tier to Samsung.
Agree
By far the best phone I've ever used. Before I got this I had Nexus S for 2 months which I sold for a LG Optimus 2X which lasted just 5days. Lots of positves & the few negatives are pretty minor. A bargain too as I got it on the O2 contract with the cashback deal.
Seems to be quite future proof as well, looks like I might be keeping this one for the full 2yr contract.
this thing blows away everything else to an exponential degree and also agree i can use this for 2 years and am very happy keeping it insured
this phone is great
agree the potential is mind boggling cant wait for roms and themes etc to start
Nice try. .
Best phone that i've ever owned
GPS works great
wifi works great
screen looks great
form factor is awesome
solid construction
best performing portable devices i've ever owned

I am afraid the vibration feature is too weak due to the miniature form factor.
Also please be careful not to get stuck in the Micro SD card slot, I have heard enough of these stories from my surgeon friend.
yeap agree with everything the op said.this phone dominates.i was going to keep my sgs as a toy but after my sgs2 arrived i didnt touch it again haha.i remember reading all the tech sites, everyone worrying about dual cores chewing battery etc.all i have to say is that my batt life is the same doing the same things it just does it faster.cheers sammy.4th product in a row i bought from them.(wave.sgs.tv.sgs2)

So i just did something crazy

Been fighting with myself inside my head for my next phone since my old S3 is now property of my GF, so today i woke up and just ordered a GSM Dev Edition Moto X.
And i do not regret my decision knowing that the Nexus 5 may be released in 3 days.
So, what is up Moto X forum.

Welcome!
You won't regret it. The general consensus is that this device is pretty amazing. Most people get great battery life (my average is 18hrs off charge 4-5hrs screen, mix in games voice calls etc), the ones that aren't, are suffering from standby drain (this may be due to the initial enabling of location tracking settings, discovered by Kev1000000, it's being tested). You will love active notifications, for such a seemingly simple feature... it's life changing. Always listening is also great, if you are like me and always wanted to use voice commands but was always left disappointed and frustrated, then you are in for a treat, this phone actually works extremely well, even in noisy conditions.
I also came from an sgs3, the difference is night and day, in battery, performance, comfort and how I interact with the device... I'm sure that you will not be disappointed.
Development is not quite here yet, but that's not necessarily a bad sign, this phone has been the best experience out of the box that I have ever had... Speaking as a recovering flashoholic, I am enjoying having a phone that is awesome right out of the gate. I feel that once 4.4 releases, we will see more activity, but with safestrap being released and root available, in sure things will be coming down the pipe line soon, but this phone doesn't really need it.

I agree with the above post. This is the first Android phone I have ever bought and not felt a strong urge to screw around with it immediately.
Very happy so far...

Indeed, welcome! Many moto features can be done with 3rd party apps. But they either drain battery fast, or not very smooth. Ever since I owned moto, my N4 has been so very lonely
thank you everyone.
gotta start reading the guides and terms here, coming from a Galaxy S, S2, S3 so i know all the samsung terms and stuff but now i gotta onboard myself with the Moto X apps, and modes.
as for dev, it will be here eventually, for my flashing problems i got my Nexus 7.
can't wait to get my device in here, stupid motorola and their 7 day shipping.

Hello there, Dev Edition :3

LG V20 multi user support?

Just wondering for those who have received their LGV20s. Does it support Multi Users? I ask because im going to miss Knox on samsung devices. I use it to have 2 viber accounts in one phone. Personal and Work.
Yes like most any Android device you can add multiple user accounts.

Sorry I'm on a different device but have 7.0. Check the settings menu for a users menu, if not maybe they disabled it for the v20. I know I use different accounts for my kids, so that would suck if LG took that feature out.
Tmobile Lg's have never had it enabled.. Once we get root it's a simple build prop addition and we're good to go.. I have a tutorial on the G4 and V10 forum on how to add it, but need root.

I want root so much more now, lol. I'm "rooting" for the devs to find something.
This is why we still need root (to those who constantly feel the need to post in threads about root that we no longer need it with all the features built into the phones now). Google has integrated many of the features that we used to look to our devs for but each manufacturer and each carrier arbitrarily removes or changes those features and then doesn't give us any choice in the matter.
On the plus side, we do have awesome devs who are working hard to root our phones and give us our freedom back. And those devs are still finding new things to offer us that will only deepen our dependence on Android and the devs we love.
I don`t see it on my V20 ATT version, I looked everywhere.
Guys guys root is coming we already have twrp
Must be disabled with US LGV20s. I have it available on my LGv20 Philippines. Just got it the other day
nowhere on the verizon variant...
