Samsung My KNOX not working, but valid bit is 0x0 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello all,
So I just got a brand new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge phone and I'm loving it so far, except for one thing. When I try to open the Samsung My KNOX app it says:
imgur[dot]com/ljtI1Qo.png
I'm just confused because I haven't changed the OS at all. After a little research online I found people saying that this message is caused by people rooting their phones and installing custom OS's, which I haven't done. Here's proof:
imgur[dot]com/tBvzKPs.png
Why is My KNOX saying that and is there a way to fix it?
Thanks!

Two possibilities. Have you use a package disabler app to disable any system packages. Or have you changed the default pixel density? Both have been reported to cause problems with Knox.

Maybe I just got scammed and this is a refurbished model?
I really, honestly appreciate the help as I've been a big Apple fanboy for forever and just decided to switch to Android. Great experience so far.
Edit:
I bought the phone factory unlocked: ebay[dot]com/itm/262399542189
From my research online it seems as if the CSC code pertains to the country. Since this is an unlocked phone, maybe it doesn't have a CSC code because it's not linked to any country? Or is that crazy thinking?

Samsung KNOX Counter cool.

This isn't normal. Every Samsung device have a CSC Code. Speak with the eBay seller and get one replacement or money back.

I'm in the process of doing so. Thanks for the help! But just out of curiosity, why would someone completely remove a CSC code from the device and how would they do that without tripping the KNOX bit?

I'm wondering if someone tried to modify a Chinese market phone to work on AT&T, and is trying to unload his screwup onto someone else.

The box was unopened and the factory seal was un-broken. Maybe they just got a new box somehow? Is there a possibility that this is just a hardware problem?

Another thing you can do, will be to re install the firmware with odin, and I'm sure will work again, but you will have to install from scratch, unless you can backup your apps, etc
after having a look into the files you uploaded, it has a middle east pda xxu1apb6 and maybe is that the reason you maybe having some trouble, being in USA, you need to download one for the region you are in, sure someone in here should know which one will be the best for you. My self I have installed the XEU one, for the UK, and my phone had installed the ETL one, that was from Czech Republic, country I bought my phone from.
Installing the software again through Odin, will not trip knox at all, so try that.

So I just got off the phone with the eBay seller, and they said that the phone is brand new and that Samsung Pay isn't working because the phone is an unlocked international version[which the listing did say], and Samsung Pay isn't currently available on international phones. After some research on Google, it does look like Samsung Pay isn't currently compatible with international phones. This kind of makes sense to me, and I'm okay with it because the guy on the phone said that Samsung Pay should be rolled out for the international version soon.
Thanks for the help guys! Coming from the iOS landscape where this isn't a problem, the thought of it not working because it's an international phone didn't even phase me.

Have to say that I think you may have been sold a line there!
Knox and Samsung Pay are related, but not the same thing, and Knox does work on international phones.

That's a complete lie, I installed a USA version of the CSC on mine, ( international version)and there it was the Samsung pay app on it, I was checking versions on my phone, and flashing different countries to verify things work, and they do, pity I did not take a screen shot to prove it, but there it was.

So I learned that you can actually look up the devices IMEI number on http://www.imei.info/ to check the status, warranty, etc. The phone is legit and it's apparently still under warrenty from Samsung for another year.

Sending my phone back to O2 for repairs

Proximity Sensor not working now...
Anyone done this before after they've rooted the phone?
What preparations did you guys do?

etc etc?
Thanks!
I didn't cheat the manufacturer and took blame for messing up my phone by doing stuff I shouldn't have been doing without the required knowledge and paid for the repairs.

..And this helps the OP, how?
O2 branded phone .
Remove root applications .
Flash O2 branded firmware or your original firmware through Odin .
O2 post with firmware week one dev section .
Reset custom rom counter if needed using USB jig .

Well knowing O2 they're send it off to some third party company, i sent my x10 off (it was rooted) and it came back with unrooted O2 firmware
Why create 3 new threads when you'd probably get all the answers in one?
Anyway, look in the dev forum for a thread with the title "Carrier branded firmwares". Inside you'll find O2's firmware for the UK.
I've done the same for my previous O2 device, I replaced the phone 1 week ago, as used to have a problem with quality of the front speaker.
I tried to unroot by flashing the official kernel, root is gone but the apps were still there!
so I flashed the whole firmware which restored the whole device to default, then I've done master reset voilaaaaaaa
p.s. dont worry about reseting the counter m8 they dont care for it hehe
If u need any help please dont hesitate to ask
How long did O2 take to repair the phone?

Why do you guys like intermediaries to service your phones? I bought my SGS2 on a carrier, if a have some problem with it i'll just take it to a Samsung repair center, not my carrier...
I've done this multiple times with my or my friends phones... Be it Nokia, Samsung or HTC. Manufacturers don't really care if the phone is unbranded of unlocked.
My previous phone was an HTC TyTn, some months after after i bought it, the camera stopped working. My phone was running a custom ROM, was unlocked and even had a custom bootloader (HardSPL). The HTC guys told me that the only thing i need to do was flash the original HTC bootloader, because their flashing equipment doesn't work with HardSPL. Then i came locked again and with my carrier ROM. When i got home, i unlocked it again and unbrand it.
With Nokia, things are even better, because unlike HTC/Samsung, unlocking Nokias costs some money because they need some specialized boxes for unlocking, not just a USB cable and some program. I normally go to Nokia Care Center and kindly ask them if they don't mind not locking the phone again, and generally they don't mind...
The only thing you need to make sure at phone repair center: always talk with a Man, they tend to be sensible to this sort of things... Womans are always "by the book"... LOL
I looked up the service centre locations in London and they all seem to be CPW?

So do you think it should be okay if I restore it to the generic stock O2 firmware, have it unrooted and take it in for repairs? Will they check the counter?
It's a hardware issue (Prox sensor faulty) so I hope they will honour it to fix it!
Well i would plead ignorance and say Kies mucked up an update .

Really sick of the blue screen of death on this thing

I know a bunch of people have had it but am hoping new firmware will fix it because I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it or warranty work through Samsung. I've tried all the hints and tips...have not rooted it. And I have the P907 AT&T LTE version.
I get that every time I play a game. Checkers. ...

Can you guys post a photo or at least a description how does the BSOD look like in your case, when does it happen and what happens after that (ie. everything gets back to normal after a few secs or you need to reboot or it reboots automatically...).
To be honest: I have P905 - absolutely the same hardware and a little different firmware - and never experienced anything that might be called a BSOD....
Mine would blue screen and restart after about a minute. Sometimes I would have to do a hard reset but usally it would restart itself. After it would happen once it would happen every few minutes.
It's not the exact same hardware. The AT&T version has the 4G hardware that yours doesn't have or doesn't use.
Samsung fixed mine and said it is a part the grabs updates from AT&T. It was unable to update and that is what was causing it to blue screen and restart. Strange because even when I shut off the data it still blue screened but whatever they replaced it is defiantly fixed.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Free mobile app
I have the att version. I'm rooted and stock firmware. Never seen the bsod. I bought mine day one.
Drew489, I wish it would be a software issue too but I'm thinking it is a hardware issue. Been looking at forums lately and a lot of the SM-P907A's are experiencing this BSOD. Everytime I'd have to go to recovery mode in order to restart the tablet or it wouldn't turn on at all. I've had it happened 3 times in the past month since I've owned it. It was usually when I was playing clash of clans or watching a video. I've tried clearing the cache (BSOD once after trying that) and then finally doing a factory reset as recommended by the Samsung technicians. It hasn't BSOD since I've did the factory reset but right now I'm trying to do a firmware restore through Kies. If this doesn't work then I'll be sending it for warranty repairs.
I got the P905 so I'm not having this problem, but.. Have any if you tried checking any logs if they can tell what's causing freezes/reboots? If one could find out what's causing it, maby someone is able find a way to fix it?
I sent mine back they replaced the lcd...blue screen hit me today again. .I am calling tomorrow to send it back again. .. never again will I buy a Samsung tablet

You do realize this is a problem that only occurs on the P900 and the AT&T version, and not a generic Samsung problem? Not a single P905 is afffected.
It's like saying 'I will never buy a Toyota, because one type in France had problems with the brakes once.'
Wow you made zero point again.. Sorry I was busy responding to your first reply before you edited it... Toyota and brakes??? What do u smoke??
I don't care about the Wi-Fi version this is a issue I had for awhile.. I wrote the original post in general months ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-pro-12/general/wth-blue-screen-fade-to-black-t2856774 You trying to sum it up the way you did makes no sense but to use your logic. If I was to buy a toyotta and had brake issues and they refused to fix it for me , being a manufacturer defect. Then wouldn't I be a fool to continue purchasing from someone that does not stand behind there product???
Now I admit my response was somewhat knee jerked but I am fed up with owning a high end tab I can only use when the tab allows me to before it goes blue.

So just to be clear, you are saying the Samsung Exynos chip is not a "generic" Samsung ..... Using the Qualcomm chip makes it a generic Samsung? I suppose I can understand the logic since Qualcomm is the dominant chipset, but when I think generic samsung I think pure samsung which means exynos in my mind.
Either way I want these random reboots to stop.

I was refereeing to the fact some uninformed people seem to think the Wi-Fi version and the att version share the same chip set. They do not... I didn't refer to anything being generic.. I stopped the reboots after I rooted by installing xposed and downloading a Samsung reboot module. I can't remember the name off hand... I think it was actually for the s4 but works with our tabs..907a

Yeah, when I updated the ROM I totally forgot about that setting in Wanam Xposed. I just checked it a few minutes ago and here's hoping this is all it was. Of course it'd be better if Sammy fixed the bug in the first place and we didn't need Xposed modules to solve the issue, but I digress.

Yup but Samsung has a bad habit of abandoning tablets software wise, once it's out it's out. Given the carrier devices are more of a piston because I think the carrier dictates updates

Trouble rooting a Galaxy s5 SM-G900F

Hello,
I recently purchased a Galaxy s5 SM-G900F on a french website (Eglobalcentral.fr).
Or so they said.
I wanted to root it, by flashing CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f on it with Odin, but it didn't work.
And then I took a closer look on the infos on the screen on the download mode and saw that it said Product Name : sm-g9006v...
Plus, as you can see, the knox flag is already tripped. It was before I touched it.
But in the phone properties, it says SM-G900F. So which one is it ? How can I root it ? Have I been scammed ?
Thanks a lot !
EDIT : wanted to add a screenshot but I can't because I'm new ^^

It seems that the G9006V is the Chinese model. If the product was advertised as a G900F you should contact the seller regarding a fraudulent advertisement. I'm sure even with Knox being tripped they'll be willing to reimburse or exchange it, that's a very shady practice.

Hi there,
i'm from France too and purchased the same weird G900F, from the same site (eglobal). It's also a disguised G900V, with sort of a "frankenstein" firmware, some parts are from g9006v (recovery, bootloader) and some part middle east G900F.
Can you tell me what did you do with it? Did the seller refund you?
The g901F is a beefier version of the S5, with a snapdragon 805. There is a cf autoroot version for it so i wouldn't mind too much. What was the site?
Thanks

Not if it's not programmed with an IMEI.

Because if it was sold to you from someone then a reward might be available for the apprehension of the person that had stolen it and you would have valuable information.
Also, it is against forum rules to assist anyone in unlocking or tampering with an IMEI an any way especially for a stolen device. Since it appears to be that way, you're on your own. So good luck!

Certain stores sell these out if it's excessively supplied by Samsung. It's supplied by samsung on an entirely free no-agreement basis, since they are not expected to survive after the device reaches EOL (LED Burn-in, Customer Damages.. etc).
So the OP may not have necessarily stolen it, but may have obtained it in a clearance sale.
And of course, No. There is no reward involved as the device itself is designed without an IMEI so that the general public may not get to use it.
As all ready posted if it's a demo unit then basically all you have and will have is a wifi tablet. There is no IMEI number for the device and any attempt to use a different one is illegal. Really hope you weren't ripped off with it but as IMEI changing is illegal I will have to close the thread

I wouldn't end that statement with "sorry". If he just bought it like that, he's not going to be the least bit disappointed with having to reset it in order to make it work. Just being able to make it work is all he's after. I'm sure he's ecstatic to know that he can

Well, I figured he was looking for the easy way but that's not what he's going to get short of knowing the person's email and password so the only way is to Odin the stock roms so your right sorry shouldn't have ended my statement however it did because it's not what he wanted to hear I'm sure.

I may be a bit biased because I've rootedand customized phones since the D1, when it was MUCH harder than it it currently. But I have always found ODIN very easy to use. In reality, I'm sure the OP could look up a video on youtube on how to use ODIN and get his phone working in like 20 min (minus download/setup times for ODIN, ROM, etc.). And I'm sure he saved a bundle buying it like that. He just needs to pray it's not IMEI locked on top of it, or all that effort will have been wasted

We'd prefer that you not. Phones with locked IMEI's are that way for a reason, and we don't want the activities on this forum getting us into legal trouble. Thanks for your understanding.

Well why do you think I didn't post it. Now if someone bought a phone and it ended up being stolen....Idk what I would do. I guess get the seller to give the imei in advanced to check it's not stolen or blacklisted.
