Duble tap for screen on/off - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
We need Duble tap for screen on/off as LG and HTC has. Can someone to develop it, I look forward to it in the next update.
Thanks!

Today I have CM13 Custom ROM installed on my mobile S4. Which is missing "duble tap 2 wake up" the simple and valuable function. All phones should have this function from the beginning.

Hello and good morning,
this feture must be added to the kernel and CyanogenMod doesn't support this feature.
I would suggest you to have a look at Galaxy S 4 i9506 Android Development. There you can find many ROMs and Custom Kernels for your device, which may support this feature.
If developers would enable Double Tap to Wake by default, your smartphone would use to much battery.
Kind regards and good luck

Thanks for quick reply.

Can the s4 show custom colors?

Hi all!
I've tried both the apps light flow and light manager. It seems though that the s4 only can show some default colors. Is this right or is my led notification broken?
I'm sorry if this question already been asked and answered but I couldn't find anything about it...
Just a yes for "it's able to show custom colors" or no for "it's not able just some standard colors" will do.

It only does the standard colours well.
Any other colour and it has to mix up colours and it just look a bit weird.

Thanks Obagleyfreer!!
I really appreciate the fast answer and I'm glad that my unit isn't defect! Though it's sad that it can't mix up custom colors the right way....but I still love the phone and this is just a microscopic flaw.
Thanks again!

Touch Wake?

Maybe it's a little early to look for this, but there used to be a kernel mod for the Nexus S called touch wake. It was if you touched the screen, it would wake the screen(turn the screen on)....this saved the trouble of hitting a physical button to do it. Does anyone know if this mod is available for the Galaxy S4?

We had the same thing on evo3D , sweep to wake. But seeing as there is a hardware key in between the capacities buttons it would be different and maybe more difficult to implement
AFAIK, there's none yet. But that sounds amazing. I hope some our kernel devs can add this feature :good:

Swipe to wake will be implemented by ktoonsez in his kernel. You'll have to Swipe across the display, not the capacitive buttons then.

That sound great. On the touch wake that was on Nexus S, you could disable it temporarily(untill after the next wake) if you hit the hardware "turn screen off/sleep" button. Will swipe wake have the same thing?
No, but you don't need it because you won't perform this action by fault like a simple touch.

Why is this discussion still here?? I thought the mods would have moved it by now. This should have been posted in q&a section.
Sweep2wake let's you wake the phone by swiping across the screen, it has to keep the touchsreen awake so it does drain a bit of battery but still a good feature, the creator of this is show-p1984.
Touchwake let's you wake the screen by touching anywhere but only when the screen times out by it self, it only holds a wakelock for a number of seconds set by the user, after that the phone sleeps like normal so it doesn't drain battery. I think this feature was made by Ezekeel.

Sorry about that. I realized that I might of posted in the wrong forum afterwards.
Yes, Touchwake does so by n seconds. But you can make it inifinity like and use the hardware button to temp. disable it. Ezekeel only made it for the Nexus S and this is what would preferable over swipe2wake implementation.

Tap2Wake Kernel or ROM

Hello,
Is there a Kernel or a ROM who / which supports Tap2Wake (double tap = screen on)??
I really miss this feature comming from LG G3
Gesendet von meinem SM-N910F
basically, the lg g3 has a specific sensor in screen to use this function....
so if you downloaded anything that has this function the battery will drain much fast because it will make the phone not to go to sleep properly
Oh okay did anyone tried this? Is the Battery drain heavy?

idk, i have a note 4, i will try it for you, but i want to search for it...
will see

Viper4Android Non Root Alternatives

Hey all, I was just wondering which equalizer everyone is using before rooting. I used to be on the M7 and enjoyed V4A but it seems I cannot find a good enough replacement when I'm not rooted. Do share some recommendations with me. Thanks.
I think there is a cm ask floating around. Don't know if it's working though.

Custom ROM and Custom Kernel features you're missing from your previous phone / other

Hi guys,
what features, app or other things are you missing from your previous phones or phones that saw
and think that the Z5 clearly needs it ?
Please post the phone model, ROM (stock/custom/AOSP-based) and other information
I'll start:
1) For me it's a little annoying that there's no functionality to double-tap-to-sleep (e.g. on the right top area of the screen),
no idea if it's mostly implemented in software + general touchpad gesture code - or something more invasive is needed.
Seen in: ROMs Phronesis on Note 3, and perhaps Resurrection Remix. RR on the LG G-Pad.
2) Double-tap-to-wake that isn't draining the battery like there's no day after tomorrow,
no clear idea how to improve that and why it's causing this right now without wakelocks.
Seen in: LG G-Pad, CM, AOSP, Resurrection Remix.
3) Didn't use it but it looks clearly useful:
App Wake Gestures (tap to wake, swipe to wake, etc.) http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-wake-gestures-v1-1-t2768266
Home rotation it's really getting to me now
