Hi bros.
Im using this phone. From 25 days.
My friend is very sensitive he look things very deeply.
He replaced 7 handset had dead pixels.
I mean i told him its 2k display. Manufactures like magic. 500+ppi display in that its common to get dead pixel.
If you will look too closely you will definitely found a dead pixel. There are thousands of pixel its very less chance to get clean display.
I mark defect if screen have big portion dead like 1-2mm dia hole etc. That is defectly defect is another thing from dead pixel.
So my friend 8th handset he still found the dead pixels.
He shown me its really really hard to see. Actually its 2k display!! I mean manufacturing tester cant perfectly test it.
So what he did he saw my device. He found from my device too.
I got shocked. I mean if i look like touching eye on screen to found dead pixel anyone will found it.
I also had bad experience with dead pixel with iphone but thats look defect in less ppi display.
In 25 days of usage i never encountered dead pixel but my friend tried to look like he is touching is eye lol.
He found many dead pixel on my display like he had.
So i think every higher pixel screen have dead pixel.
Do agree with me?
Not a single dead pixel on mine I would had noticed by now. Looked closely now too and nope can't find one and I would see it if it was there. I've never actually had a dead or stuck pixel on any of my last 10 phones or so. Uneven uniformity is a much more common issue with screens if you ask me.
Definitely not true...nowhere near true.
Most devices DON'T have any dead pixels.
No dead pixels here and I'm using the device for VR too, where the screen is literally right in front of my eyes. Not sure if the problem isn't you friend (and how he "detects" them) and not dead pixels.

I have a dead pixle, or a piece of dust, either way it's not that bad and I can live with it, everything else about the phone is perfect, and far better than any other phone ive had

One of the rules that have to be applied to every thread is to speak proper English.
If you can't write in an international language that we can all understand, I'm sorry but there's no point in opening the thread in the first place.
Your text hurts my eyes and it's full of drama and exaggeration, you're either bashing Samsung cause you hate the brand or had bad experience with them. But that's your experience, my s7 edge performs and functions perfectly.

u can't see pixels? how can u see if there's no pixel then?
u can see pixels? show me pls
Two dead pixel apps downloaded, tested, and close inspection of screen and no dead pixels here.
If you have a dea pixel u will have a freaking random dot on your screen that wont disappear and its very easy to see it so i think its your friends eyes that are wierd
I agree, ur friends is not right in the head man, maybe something wrong with his eyes 2. I'd send him back to where he came from for a replacement.
Thanks alot for replies. Im getting new box, btw i will post some pics. I can live with this dead pixel and every other things are perfect. But i like black colour i will soon get it..currently using Gold.
I will also post some pic of dead pixel.

one is zoomed and other is normal.
Have you tested the screen with the internal diagnostic tool (R, G and B full colors)?

If you read the XDA's Rules before posting this, then you're who's posting wrong things here:
4. Use the English language.
We understand that with all the different nationalities, not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English, use an online translator. You're free to include your original message in your own language, below the English translation. (This rule covers your posts, profile entries and signature)

.
There's no need to speak "proper" english. You even have the ability to post in your native language if you also post a translation below it.
Also, I'm glad your device looks and works fine just like mine, but think: If you were the one who had the problem after 7 different replacements, how would you reacted? Wouldn't you judging the company because they gave you 7 different phones and all of them suffered the same problem? I know it's not Samsung's fault (100%), but probably the whole batch of devices have the same problem and that's why he's getting faulty phones since 25 days ago. Also, here in my country after two unsuscessfull retrievals (either because of devices with the same problem or failure to comply with the agreed days for the resolution of the problem) the company is obliged to give you another device OR give your money back, whatever the affected user decides first. That being said, let him post whatever he wants, as he's following the rules since 2012 without any problems.

First, no such rule. Second, this is an international forum, not an American (or British or Australian or other English speaking country) forum. Get over yourself and open your eyes to the fact that there's a whole big world out there that doesn't exist just to cater to you. If you don't like a thread, just ignore it.

I'm thinking of buying a Note either from Craigslist, or importing one here to the US. I know that once I install a custom ROM I've broken my warranty, so I want to know if my device is 100% perfect as soon as I get it.
So basically, I want to hear a list of what problems I might have (manufacturer defects), so I can check my device immediately.
So far, I've seen:
-pinkish shots taken with the camera
-dead pixels
-broken gyroscope
Most people have little to no issues. Theres only very few users posting about issues on xda right now. Dont look at the post count because those are note users who are defending there product. Ive seen no more then 5 users per thread thats having the same issue. It goes back to original sgs, most issue you dont notice in normal usage.
As far as custom roms go, you can always return the phone to stock before sending in for warranty issues.

Those problems occur to maybe 1 out of every 10,000 Notes. I have 0 problems with mine as do the other 9,999 people out of 10,000.
Keep in mind that 1,000,000+ people have purchased a Note. 100 people out of 1,000,000 having dead pixels isnt that bad.

Doesnt matter where you bought it from, Samsung will only honor the warranty if you live in a country they sell the phone.. So they wont honor it in the US... So either way you have no warranty in the United States

Do you have actual data tables to prove your claims?
Its always natural for people with perfectly working devices to make up a statistical number out of thin air, an extremely common thing in forums now and especially on the Galaxy S2 section.
Having a fail rate of 10,000 out of 1Million is still pretty acceptable in today's (low) standards.

You also have to put into consideration that XDA does not represent even the smallest fraction for the Galaxy Note user base.
Not everyone has the same expectation for a $700 device, not everyone uses the phone in the very same way.
Im not saying that you should or should not buy the G-Note but weigh in the risks of getting an imported unit vs waiting for local stocks. Even if its just 1 in 100 the chances of you getting 2~5 defective units in a row could be pretty high. I believed what the XDA people posted on the S2 forums before that a crappy screen is just like 1 in 7million, who would have thought I got a total of 7 in a row.
Heres is the list of issues that I've read on XDA alone:
1.) Unresponsive touch buttons after a call
2.) S-Pen issues - accuracy issue, detection issue
3.) Camera Pink spot
4.) Dead pixels - extremely minor
5.) Screen lag that relates to the proximity sensor (I dont even know if thats a legit issue or just nitpicking.)
6.) Broken Gyro/Accelerometer ( I think only 2 guys posted about this so far? )
7.) A Plethora of screen related issue may it be software or hardware ( Green hue when viewing in an angle, blotches on the screen, terrible gamma levels, reddish bleeding on the sides of the screen, horizontal lines, color banding, OLED burn out, image retention, yellowish/bluewish whites, solid color streak lines after a few days of use )

While my issue is not as worse as others but the horizontal lines is an eyesore, kinda loses the point of having an HD screen to begin with. I guess the Galaxy S2 experience didnt teach me enough but the G-Note surely did. I dont hate the phone, Im just a little disappointed that I didnt get lucky with the screen lottery. I mean people say the problem is an extreme minority.. after checking 2 other phones they have the same issue to a different extent/degree.

3.) Nope, I think you dont understand this issue. Its believed to be caused by software, you think the millions of IP4,HTC and other users forgot to remove the plastic protector on their camera. The G-Note doesnt even have one.
7.) It has nothing to do with pentile, the S1 was pentile it had the best screen even compared to the Gnote or S2.

This is also true!
People with flawed devices tend to be over-represented on sites such as this one, because if they are XDA members, they will tend to post about it, and if not, they may get pointed in the direction of XDA when they google their issues.
Even if you start a poll with two options, "My device is perfect", and "My device is flawed", people with flawed devices are far more likely to submit a poll vote than those whose are not.
Whilst I agree that quality control could be better, we have to accept that more quality control basically means higher cost and it is always a case of increasing cost for diminishing returns, since there will always be some lemons that slip through the net.
Thinking about it, perhaps there is a spot in the market for a company that charges a premium to unbox and pre-vet devices for users, and who also deals with all returns and warranty issues. Now there's a thought.... I could be up for a spot on Dragons Den
Regards,
Dave
So what is all that talk about pixels ? I've just seen a video review of the HTC Titan, and the reviewer said that if you move in really close you can see pixelated text and images...I don't...and that an HD2 which is considerably older.
Is this something new devices have? Like a worse pixel density or something?
not really , although different manufacturing techniques create different separation masks between pixels.
If you look close enough every screen known to man has some visible issues.
Just stand real close to a plasma or LED TV and you will see the pixels.
Of course when viewing at a reasonably distance this isn't an issue.
Some reviewers are stuck for things to say so make stuff up.
Looking that close at a screen then commenting, is like putting your nose next to a car exhaust then saying it smells funny. True in essence but a totally useless piece of information

What he said, plus you have to remember that the Titan has a far larger screen than the HD2 so it will obviously be easier to see the pixels.
Ah I see, nitpicking at its finest.
And I was thinking that there's no point of having any other smartphone after the HD2 since most of them have these weird "problems" with pixel density and battery life.
Not listening to any reviewer again that's for sure. lol

best advice...read reviews from "experts" but do your own review.
I don't know if anyone else have this issue since nobody has mention it on this forum or ZTE USA forum but there's a weird image rendering bug on mine. It basically shows a bunch of white dots that look like dead pixel across the screen horizontally. It comes and goes but it's pretty damn annoying to see.
So, it seen i am the only one with this issue. Strange.

I don't know about the dots, but don't you think "Candy" might get upset if a whole bunch of guys start calling her? It's usually not a good idea to post people's private numbers in a public forum. You never know who's in here.
Always thank those who are helpful...and just ignore those who aren't.
It reminds me of dead or stuck pixels on a DSLR sensor. DSLR's often have some means of mapping them out, but I doubt that smartphones have that capability.
Might want to read up on this and then decide if you want to return your device or have it repaired. Kind of a bummer, considering the short supply atm.
Search on google for "dead/stuck pixels on smartphones". Can't post any links yet.

But they're also showing up on screenshots, so it can't be an issue with the physical display. Makes me think it's some sort of software/driver issue.
Do these white pixels always show up in the same location? The shot you posted (with the flashlight) has a fairly well defined diagonal line/pattern, running from the bottom left to top right. Can you see the white pixels on a non-black background, like a light colored wall-paper? When you say "screen-shot", do you mean taken with an app on the phone?

It's a rendering issue not a dead pixel issue, which is good. The white pixels come and goes. The screenshot was taking on the phone with three finger pinch.
I factory reset the phone and the issue is still there which is extremely odd. I might have to RMA just for this stupid bug.
Might be memory issues or something else with the SOC. I'd definitely RMA.
Ever get a fix for this? I have the same issue and I don't want to have to wait for a return, just got the device today on my birthday :/
I have this issue on a couple of screens, one being my dialer. Here is a zoomed in screen shot. Seems I've seen it in one other display, but haven't noticed it since. I wonder about a fix?
Edit: I've kept the phone, tho I occasionally have a screen with this minor bug. It's clearly not dead pixels, but some software bug. It's so minor. I just wanted to bring it to light in case there was more to it, or a fix.
Love the phone!

Lol. So I am not the only one. FYI, factory reset doesn't fix so don't bother. It has to do with overlays.

It's actually possible for an effect that looks like this to be caused by memory errors. I'd RMA the phone.
Yea, i started the RMA process with advance exchange.
FYI, call 800-617-5065 instead of the CS number they have on their site.
Axon 7 customer are "VIP" apparently and that number goes straight to a CS rep right away. Kudo for ZTE for that.
Having the same white dots pop up on my Axon 7. Thought I was alone on this one. It doesn't show up in my pictures, but only the camera application. Maybe I could live with this.

Hi guys,
I am new here, my name is marc and i was an apple fanboy not long ago.
I bought the new Pixel XL. I did not see that in the first week, but yesterday i found someting. I can't be the only one to have this little flaw.
I was in my bed checking some dark (dark i mean not terrorist and sh** lol dark gray dark) website with the brightness low and the night mode turned on. I saw two dark (black line on dark grey) line in the bottom of my phone. When i turn the light of the display a little bit on and they dissapear. They are not easy to catch in picture with my camera because we can see it only with no brightness in the display. I googled it and i found some lookalike issue called mura effect. (Problem of fabrication of amoled screen when low voltage dont turn on pixels.)
I wanna now should i get worried, i saw that many amoled displays have this flaw that is innerant because of the fabric technique? Do those line will grow up with time? Am i the only one with pixel that have this problem, maybe you just didint see it and now you will pay attention (mouahahah ocd spoiler alert)? Is there a fix for this problem?
Keep me posted if you have the same issue with the pixel or other amoled phone as i dont want to be alone in this dark darker screen lol

Dang man! You are indeed a jerk! Haha, no I'm serious. I just checked it out and I get the same thing. Sometimes the lines if you look hard enough they'll flicker too. Not cool man. Now I feel as if something is wrong with the screen. The colors already drive me a little nuts as they're a bit oversaturated compared to lcd and retina displays. Now I'm gonna look for these lines all the time. Thanks bro

Sounds good. Looks like I just need to be persistent and adamant toward the fact that it is a 1k phone and this issue is, or at the very least, appearsrs to be hardware related. I too plan to keep the device for at least 2 years and if the hardware is already suffering a defect than I could only imagine how bad it will get from repetitive use. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted and let you know what they say when I speak to them again.

If they ask me to do so I'm not sure I have anything other than my Pixel that will capture it. I literally have nothing with a decent camera aside from my Pixel XL. Hmmm.... What to do....
Ask a friend or a parent with with an s7 or an iPhone lol. My father iPhone6 did the job. My Old s4 didint work to low rez. I Guess.

Sh*t, my pixel developed these symptoms. Anyway I have an RMA unit on the way. It's nice that they send u the new phone first, so you don't have to go without a phone, which is nice

I find the lowest to still be too bright on most phones, the pixel xl included. I use an app called iris mini. There's a free version. It greatly lowers the brightness and red shifts the screen and in the week I've had the phone, I haven't noticed this issue of the mura effect. Give that app a shot next time you read in the dark. It might help.

I recently got the pixel 2 Xl. I love it, it's better than the Nexus 6p that I had. I haven't noticed any of the issues that people have been mentioning. My theory is people complain about the smallest things and they will continue to complain even if they switch to a different phone. They will always find something wrong to complain about. I think a lot of the noise is fake news from people that are promoting other devices. Give the phone a try if you like it keep it if you don't return it. The sound is good and I don't notice any screen burn-in.
Or the quality varies between devices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably more likely than fake news from device shills
Have you considered that it is possible that there is device-to-device variability? I mean several posters have put up side-by-side images of 2 different P2XL's that clearly showed one was very blue and the other wasn't. Lucky you that you got a good one but you should assume that just because your's is good that they all are.

Look at all the pics in another P2XL thread here with pictures of exact same models, and they vary in how blue their tint is.

Mine is fffn perfect, but a large number of other buyers have the tint big time. This is not fake news or whiners.

MY REALITY IS FINE, SO EVERYTHING ELSE IS FAKE N00Z! But seriously, I think its pretty evident at this point that there are variations in the severity of the "blue shift". I've been keeping my eye on this.
I have the blue tint issue. It's not that bad. Google has expanded the warranty if I don't like it I can return it. If this is the only thing wrong with the phone I will be happy with it. Poke the internet and it pokes back. I more put this comment out so I didn't have to search all the forums to find all the issues. I figured people would rant about my post and post the issues. It's working Thanks for sharing.
There are legitimate issues here, screen burn in I would rate as chief among them. But they are being blown waaaaaaaaaaay out of proportion. They do this for every device that comes out. Coming up with umpteen reasons why "x" device has the worst "y" component in smartphone history.

Use a black theme, holy **** people, no more blue tint, and no burn in. I'm so sick of every other thread talking about the blue tint. Get rid of the phone, get something else and leave if you can't handle the "screen issues"

my s7 edge has blue shift at very extreme angles but my new P2XL has it straight on at 0degrees. It's defective for sure. Going back as no matter what google lies about the screen issues, this shouldn't be this blue! Also for future reference, Google chat is refusing to RMA blue screen problems but if you call in they'll replace it.
Oh yeah btw the guy on the phone was linked to one of the pages on this site showing side by side comparisons and stated "Yeah it's not supposed to be like that, not that blue"

If you don't want to hear about it stay out of the blue shift and screen issues threads. Simple as that. My screen is blue when looking straight on. Looks like hell, no I will not change all sorts of settings and/or switch to different theme just to 'HIDE' the defect with my device. Is it too much to ask for a non defective device for a $100 phone let alone a $1,000 phone! Btw mine is going back but for another one with agood acceptable screen. Congrats you got a good one right off the bat, I and a bunch of others here weren't so lucky!
@whyme45125
Pretty hard when more than half the threads on here are crying about it. Don't like the blue shift? Get a different phone stop sending it back. Get a refund and leave, or would it not sit well you have nothing to compalin about then?

so then there's a legitimate reason for the complaints then if it's more than half of us! TROLL - ignored.

Trolling? Do you see how many posts I have? You think a troll account would last this long?
It's pretty simple. If it's a legitimate issue, then stop getting pixel 2's and get something else.

So much yes.
Key advice on the internet: Don't feed the trolls
I have no doubt that there are problems. That said, people bailed before they ever got their phone simply based on strangers reports.
I do find the Note 8 is brighter with more vivid colors. That said, I've done quite a few TV calibrations and my Pixel 2 XL is closer to realistic colors than the Note 8. Samsung oversaturates colors and kicks the brightness way up to make their screens pop. They are not realistic representations of a calibrated display. Many have just gotten used to the inaccurate displays of other phones. Just my opinion.

Agreed the colors represented are the closest phone I've seen to my calibrated tv. That being said the blue shift is the killer for me and a lot of others here, not the color accuracy that keeps being brought up(we all know that's a software fix for those samsung supersaturation lovers), but I am getting another one since I love this phone so much and feel it's an amazing device besides the screen problem on mine.

Definitely not fake news. Mine looks nothing like the ones on display at Verizon near me. I took a picture of mine while waiting in the Google Support chat queue tonight. It's definitely not good on my unit.
