For some reason, my phone just won't sleep even when I sleep! Do you guys have a fix for this? Thank you.
I already did the wipe cache thing and I restarted the phone mamy times. I also tried package disabler pro.
For my Sprint GS7E, wakelock is caused by GpsLocationServices_ex from Android System. Workaround is to turn off Location.

I have the exact same problem. Has anyone contacted Verizon about this issue? Has anyone found a solution?
Thanks.

Same thing. I've factory reset my VZW GS7 Edge three times since receiving it in March. It seems ok for a couple of days and then goes right back to not sleeping. I have location turned off. Any ideas?

Try to recall what you installed before that situation happens and uninstall the software and then reboot the phone to see if it solves the issue.

Sorry. I should have been more descriptive in my troubleshooting steps. After the last reset:
Day 0: Left wifi off, bluetooth off, no email syncing at all, no location services, no Facebook, no Google photos sync. Awesome battery life.
Day 1: Turned on wifi (home and at the office). Left everything else as above. Still awesome battery.
Day 2: Added bluetooth & used it. Awesome battery life.
Day 3: Added email manual sync for Outlook account. Awesome battery life
Day 4: Added Google photos sync. Still awesome battery life
At that point, was thinking I had it nailed. The reset fixed it. But I still took it easy on the phone; making no additional changes. Two or three days later, battery life went from showing 2+ days to barely getting 24 hours. The Android O/S was keeping it awake like 20 hours. Reboots didn't help the situation. Yesterday, I barely got 18 hours out of it.
This afternoon, I was reading the forums again and thought I'd try leaving everything the way it was and just turning off wifi. Phone hasn't had a call or text today. 5 minutes checking email is about all the activity on it.
Almost completely in standby today.
12:45 p.m. - turned off wifi
Phone on battery 9 hr, 3 minutes.
Android OS 16 % - Stay awake 5 hr 53 minutes.
Looking at the usage graph, the phone started going into doze not long after turning off wifi. Is wifi really the culprit? If so, why didn't it start on day 1 when I activated it after the reset?
Maybe try removing some of the syncing accounts if you have any. I had battery drain on exchange or contact sync before but they would show up in battery status. The Android OS thing is abnormal. If you can't solve it by yourself, you can try returning the phone and get a new one.

The following thread on the XDA Desire forums was pointed out to me on androidforums by marabuchi. I did what was recommended and everything seems good so far.

"UPDATE APRIL 28 2010: PERMANENT SOLUTION FOUND?: Remove Flickr Sync. Go to Settings>Accounts & Sync>Flickr. Then press remove account at the bottom of the screen and reboot the phone - Please report back in the thread if successful! "
I don't have Flickr sync on anyways haha.
after a week of haveing it I stopped messing with it every 2 seconds... and dont have your accounts update every 15 minutes all it does is eat away our battery... I have all mine set for every2 hours and my battery lasts just fine unless I'm playing a game or something ... I even use slacker radio for over an hour a day and it barely used up 2% of my battery for the day
I realize that not everyone is having this issue specific issue, but this sure helped my battery life.
I am now at 31 hours uptime, 2 hours awake time since the last time I charged my battery. My updates are at 4 hours (I'll normally go into the app and refresh), GPS is enabled, Always Connected is on, and I use the phone pretty regularly throughout the day. I have 5 battery bars currently.
Anyway, helped me, figured someone else might be in the same boat.
Thanks
Didn't change anything for me, my calender was normal.
I get probly like 14 hours max on my battery, gps off, always data off, wifi off, screen low, only thing updating every hour is weather. I mostly text and do some web surfing, seems quite a bit low of battery life.
Gmail or Exchange?

I have Google set to sync gmail, but not contacts/calendar. No exchange, and have Hotmail setup with manual refresh.
As a quick update, battery life for me has still been great with pretty much everything turned on. Going about 2 days before having to charge.
The last couple of weeks my Focus started just eating its battery. Until recently I would be around 50% by the end of the day with light usage. Obviously less if I use it a lot.
But in the last couple of weeks, its just started sucking the battery down. I don't have push email enabled. In troubleshooting I even turned off wifi, 3g and bt. That helps but its still basically dead by the evening on days when I've made a couple of calls and thats about it.
I had AT&T send me a new battery and that made no difference. I flashed to nodo hoping that new firmware would help. Same thing.
I know I should factory reset it, but I don't think I'll be able to jailbreak it again if I do a hard reset with nodo.
Any ideas?
After soft resetting the phone defaults to enabling feedback in the settings menu. I would toggle it off and see if that is draining. I have noticed dramatic battery drain from that. Also, turn off the phone update settings. In the find my phone setting toggle the get results faster to off. You said you don't have push email but if you do have any emails on the phone just double check the settings to make sure.
Thanks for the reply. I do have feedback disabled and have checked and double checked email push.
I've had this thing since they first came out and have a pretty good idea of how the battery holds up and how different things affect it. That's why this is so odd. It using the battery like I'm playing video games or web surfing all day. The problem now is that when I do actually need to use the thing more when I'm on the road, its dead in a few hours.
Hey guys. Recently my battery has been dying at an alarming rate. According to BBS it's from a process called diagnostics.client.Wakelock, does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?
I started noticing the drain after setting up my Galaxy Gear, don't know if that may have something to do with it.
Thanks!

I am seeing the same wakelock keeping my device awake and hence draining the battery while in standby. Found nothing else on the web other than this forum
Why don't you ask in the BBS thread, i think you'll get more responses there.

I am facing a huge battery drain as well after the recent update was pushed. I don't have the "diagnostics.client.Wakelock" in BBS but Samsung Push Service was hogging a lot so I turned that off. It was 80% at 11PM and today morning it was down to 59% .. that's 21% in standby mode. Is it not going into sleep mode or is something else causing this? I have almost everything turned off. Any ideas guys? Thank you.
MJ7? (not sure why but like other people remarked - the battery life looks to have somewhat declined - 30-60% less?)

Yes MJ7. I hope this is a bug that can get fixed sooner than later. It's horrible. I just got 1h 37mins of screen time and now I am down to 12%. Just a few calls and some Instagram. Nothing else. Would removing the battery for a while or something help? I haven't installed any app since updating to MJ7 (2 days ago).
I've had this issue with MI7 and MJ7 so the update is not the problem. My guess is me freezing most of the samsung bloat on the phone through Titanium is causing this. Maybe there's a process trying to find something thay I froze?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I fixed it by charging my battery up to 90% then removed the battery and kept it aside for a while ~10 mins and then plugged it back in and charged it to 100%. Now it seems to be normal again. No drain last night. Moved only 1% from 12AM to 9PM. Cheers!
I have the same issue with MJ7 firmware; the phone sometimes doesn't get into deep sleep while the screen is off.
A possible cause of the issue: switch off wifi when data are off.
So now I switch data on before turning wifi off.
Anyone ever find a solution to this? It's killing me.
Same here, my battery declines almos 1% every 5 minutes just texting via Whatsapp and I know Whatsapp is not the guilty. Using Wakelock monitor shows 30% Android System usage with a lot of entries in Gpslocationprovider (even with GPS off and everything on Location settings off), SyncloopWakelock and AlarmManager... MJ7 here too... My Note2 wasn't like this... I finished the day with 5% of baterry after heavy use from 8am til 10pm (including 45' watching videos)... With my Note3 at mid-day I have my battery death!! I can't believe it! and I don't know what is happening (I only have 4 days with my new Note 3) and I have tried almost everything (deactivating) except wipe data/factory reset (I've tried soft reset and nothing)
Anyone ever find a solution to this wakelock?

Delete Google search from system apps and deleted Google play services. Redownload both from play store. Seems to help.

I noted that my GN3 would have great and then poor battery drainage. It seemed to happen right after my first long call of the day. I noted in my wakelock app that diagnostics.client.wakelock was using a lot of time.
I decided to take more drastic action by doing a factory reset and restoring apps one by one. I first used Kingo Root to root my GN3. I had to uninstall Kies and the Samsung driver to get the rooting to work.
Then I backed up with Helium and Titanium backup.
After a factory reset, my battery usage was about 0.2 percent per hour. I use only data and no wifi.
I have now restored most of my apps and still have 0.3 percent per hour usage. I have not updated any Samsung or ATT apps.except for ATT code scanner. i have not "used" any of the google apps except for gmail, search, google+ (signed out). Google music is turned off.
Diagnostics.client.wakelock still shows up but with low time now.
After twelve hours, the GN3 is at 96 percent including a two minute phone call and email updates.
------
After a long phone call, I once again saw my battery usage increase and stay up after the phone call.
-----
I re-started with a factory reset and only restored the minimum apps that I use to browse, email, text, phone, and backup.
So far it is performing well in battery usage.
I will be adding more apps until I find the one that breaks the good performance.
-----
So far I have been able to make it through 24 hours using only TEN percent battery usage. I have added TextPlus, BofA, drippler, Helium, Titanium Backup Pro, CPU Spy Plus, Wakelock Detector, System Tuner Pro, Battery Monitor Pro, AutoBluetooth, Maps, Youtube, YP, Total Commander, Visual Voicemail, Quick Boot, Root Checker, Turn Off Screen. Everything else is stock without updating AT&T apps or Samsung apps.
I am seeing an idle usage of less than 0.3% and that is with two widgets for Battery Monitor and System Tuner. They and Textplus use up the most power. I also talked on the phone via bluetooth for about 30 minutes.
I still get the diagnostic.client.wakelog but only getting about 5 percent awake time.
-----
I did another factory reset. This time I did not allow any app updates.
I installed Titanium Backup, CPU Spy Plus, Wakelock Detector, Battery Monitor Widget Pro.
I have not seen a diagnostic.client.wakelock at all after one hour of use.
-----
I added TextPlus, System Tuner Pro. I put the widgets to System Tuner pro and Battery Monitor on the home screen.
I have not updated any apps since the reset.
I have counted about 7 diagnostic.client.wakelocks for a total of 4 seconds of wake time. My wake time percentage since yeaterday is around 1 percent.
I plan to update apps one at a time to see which one kills the battery usage with wake locks.
I just added AT&T Visual Voicemail, PayPal, BofA, and Evernote to my GN3.
The diagnostics.client.wakelock started climbing and keeping my phone from sleeping.
Uninstalling the four apps did not help.
I think that the problem is with the Visual Voicemail.
----
Factory reset my phone and am back to 1 percent wake state and very low battery drain.
----
The cause of the bad wakelock was due to restoring APP+DATA in Titanium Backup. I did that to save setup steps.
I had restored BofA and Shazam with data and the wakelocks started up.
After I factory reset again, I installed apps the normal way and have been seeing a 0.3 percent use per hour.
Samsung's own software is most garbage in my opinion.
If you use ChatOn and Samsung Hub, etc, disabling this may have an impact.
Here's how I've solved the problem with this pig of an app.
1) go to application manager under settings.
2) go to the "ALL" tab
3) find that "samsung push service"
4) uninstall - this will only uninstall the updates. Once all the very useful updates are gone, the option changes to disable.
5) disable and good riddance.
On a side note, search for this on the playstore. the reviews are hilarious.
c.
Nothing I had tried up to today has fixed my battery drain and diagnostics.client.wakelock issue.
However, today, I got a software update OTA (nb4) on my phone and it appears the problem is fixed.
Hi Guys,
I upgraded my Exynos Note 3 to Kitkat about 1 month ago, and everything was fine till about 3 days ago when I started experiencing some really bad battery drain. For the last three nights, my phone does not go into deep sleep mode at all. I first noticed this because I usually switch off data and wifi at night. Normally, I'd loose 3% battery overnight, which is good. About two nights ago, I woke up in the morning and I had lost 40% battery (90% down to 50%) overnight! When I checked out the battery stats, "gpsd" had used 80% of the battery.
Since we no longer have batterystats access in Kitkat, I installed the desktop version of WakeLock Detector, enabled USB debugging mode and connected my phone. Phone had basically been awake 97% of the time. Under kernel wakelocks, "l2_hsic" was shown as being the culprit. Now I have searched through various forums online (including xda) to try and find a solution to this. Suggestions vary from home screen replacements (nova launcher) to mobile tracking software (cerberus/findmymobile etc) to generally anything that uses location services. Some even suggest clearing application caches, disabling location services etc. I have tried every suggestion with no change. I uninstalled all mobile tracking apps, turned off location reporting, location history, and eventually location services. I've removed all battery stats apps. I uninstalled all my apps and re-installed them one by one, all with no change. Finally, I backed up my phone and did a factory reset. That seemed to work at first, but after about 3 minutes, "gpsd" was back again, and my phone would not go into deep sleep.
I've done 3 factory resets, and with no google account or samsung account configured, I still get "gpsd" rearing it's ugly head, preventing the phone from going to deep sleep and draining my battery. I'm at wits end.
Anyone know how to fix this? Would appreciate any help!
Anyone!?
OK, so I decided to take out my SIM card, just to see it'd make a difference, and what do you know! "gpsd" no longer takes up CPU time! So this is somehow related to my SIM card? Funny though, coz I'd even tried putting the phone in Airplane mode, but "gpsd" was still taking up CPU time. Does that give anyone an idea as to how this can be fixed?
bump
I'm having exact same issue with my exynos Galaxy S5, shame Samsung.
For the record, my issue fixed itself. Didn't do anything at all. It just went away and never recurred. I'm on the Russian lollipop ROM now, loving it!
Almost a year after the issue fixed "itself"... I have the same problem with my SM-N900 running offical lollipop, Im afraid I cannot wait a year to let the issue fixes itself... and cannot find a solution either.
Anyone that have managed to solve this?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
I have delayed sms notification. I received 1 new sms but there should be a "1" on the sms/mms icon(that means I have 1 new message), and minutes/hours later after reading the new sms, I see the "1" on my sms icon which, when I opened it, there is no new sms!
Weird!
Viber, i cant make calls too. I press the call button but it wont do anything. Later on it was calling by itself after a few minutes!

Not a battery issue. You have one app not letting the phone enter deep sleep.
i reset my phone and works fine for now. somehow my pebble watch is the culprit, idk.
I have battery issues too. Day one, charged up, used as normal, recharged next morning. Day two. Charged up, used, charged at night due to low battery. Now a week later, I have to charge it multiple times a day. It was 100% at 7am, now at 1 pm am at 10%. Not playing any games.
Turned on all the stamina programs, and same.
Battery performance says screen is 43% while voice calls are 23%.? Voice calls?
Where did my awesome battery life go?

I had same issue. It was Lookout and Sony's photo upload service (among some others) that were draining it. I like "Clean Droid" to help identify the culprits of these sorts of issues. Stamina mode also helps - but make sure you add the apps that you need to work in the background or it will kill them all when screen is off.
I think mine is fine, BUT there was that time when i first got mine that the shutter button stopped working with the screen off followed by the camera lockscreen shortcut dissapearing. A factory reset solved it but im curious if it will happen again
I've been having SMS issues, lots of times SMS's won't send on the first try, and sometimes I'll wake the phone up, do some stuff, and all of a sudden I've got a flood of SMS's... Yesterday I got about 6 messages at once, and 2 of them were a full day old...
Consequences of Installing custom roms on a T- MO z3
Its the first time I have an on contract phone. I moved over from a nexus 4 and i dont know the consequences of unlocking the bootloader(if any). What happens if I do manage to unlock it and install custom roms on the phone while its on contract?
For a time, I kept getting duplicate SMS messages. I'd wager it was a network thing, as it stopped all at once about a week ago.
I had similar issue using textra but it stopped and worked fine next day, might've been temporary network problem.
I have had similar issues. Sometimes I have to send a message twice for my friends to get it. also I keep having this issue where ill try to make a call and it hangs up immediately, it will continue to do this until I reboot the phone. I'm loving this phone but someone needs to figure out how we can flash a international firmware image.
It may be a network issue, with Sprint this happened to me a lot.

Unlocking bootloader on Sony devices corrupts DRM keys which renders x-reality useless. Also, some camera functionality will no longer be present . IMHO, unlocking bootloader is not worth it, especially considering the limited amount of custom ROMs available.
Download gsam and monitor what it using your battery and processor, then disable it. My problem was media server, disable that and everything was fine
My 2nd Z3 doesn't have these issues anymore ?
