Today morning (about 6 hours ago), i was having bath and i picked up a call and after i got out of bathroom i saw that my home button was not responding. I tried rebooting and clearing cache. Nothing worked. I was on exodus at that time. Now I flashed oxygen OS 3.0 hoping it would work. But no luck
Can any1 tell me a solution??
PS - I havent tried charging solution (draining battery completely and full charging)
- Look at the Screenshot. Does it say 'PASS'?
Can any1 help me??

Yes bro... I hd sffr from this issue and solving by this way...
1)Reflash ur exodus modem on the rom
2)this will surly work
Flash h20s mm rom ... Then u cnn see ur fp worlng..and again go to ur dzire rom...
I had same trouble, flashed many roms official and developped, tried many tricks found in the web.... NO SUCCESS....
Finally i have opened my phone, touched the flat connection inside close to the home button, restarted my phone..... and all was OK AGAIN.....
So I definitively think it's a problem of contacts....
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66396613&postcount=46
Thanks I'll try both methods

Okay. btw @neelsolanki
Both methods didnt work.
I think i have to go to service center. I think this might have happened due to wet hands

I've now had my fp sensor & home button die twice, the first time I tried everything under the sun, I reflashed all the things, tried stock everything, tried my luck with the contacts and also did the battery drain trick twice.. All to no avail.
I then gave up and accepted it for dead whilst waiting on a replacement button to be delivered, but before I got the chance to swap out what I though to be bad components unexpectedly the home button returned all functionality just like that.
It's now happened twice, and both times resolved itself frustratingly mysteriously.
Try not to be too worried about it all, enable your software keys and wait it out for the next 3-4 days.
And also, the first time my home button died I'd been using a wet cloth to dislodge dirt lodged in the cutout around the home button. So even seemingly water damage isint the be all and end all..

This worked for me
after I tried
flashing different roms
battery drain trick
holding home button, then force power off (after I did this, the fingerprint part worked, but the home button was overly sensitive, I could have my finger 3 inches away and it would detect it)
clearing cache
full wipe
full factory reset
I might use some rubber cement or glue to hold the connections in place, but im going to run with it for a while to see.
I put my phone this night in container of rice. Hoping it would solve the issue. Still it isn't working[emoji20] . I'm afraid of disassembling the phone. I think going to service center is only the hope

So for some reason, the last few days the touchscreen on my phone was being super slow, and id have to turn off the screen, then turn it back on multiple times and keep trying to slide it to unlock. I dont know how this started. Ive been using the NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.9.
Ive tried other ROMs and restored previous backups and nothing is working. The screen is still not responsive. Ive never had this happen before and not sure what else to do. Its just stuck on the lock screen but everything is unresponsive....any ideas???

Unfortunately, your touchscreen digitizer is dying. This is related to the hardkey malfunction. The only thing you can so now is flash back to stock WM Tom and send it back for repair. The phone's touchscreen need to be replaced.
Good luck,

Yeah thats what ive been reading, and right after i started this thread i was reading on another and read that you can fix it if you hold the power button down firmly (apparently the digitzier is right behind it)....that worked for me.
I think too much flashing and changing ROMS using the power button didnt help hehehe

Try using zMooth or Button Savior. This help your hardkey a lot. Since I have zMooth and Button Savior install on my phone, I no longer have to use the hardkey.

!!!!! FIND SOLUTION !!!!!
The digitiZer is under the hangup button. press the button bit hard till it nudges the digitiser a little. it worked for me.
(found it from : http://www.htcphones.net/htc-hd2-problems-with-touchscreen/ )
I'm so cool now!!
I have been living on this solution for almost 2 months now.
However I can't take it anymore not because I am lazy!
but because when sometimes you need to make a quick call or grab that
camera instantly I tend to waste a good 5 minutes trying to make that hardpress on the end key work with the digitizer cable.
My question is, would changing the digitizer work? or is it something else?
Ever noticed that T-Mobile HD2 has soldered digitizer connection to the LCD vs. flex-cable socket in standard Leo?
I was running an older Paramid version of dunphp's ROM, and right before swtching the ROM my touch screen start to not function. I could not pull the ring up to unlock the screen. I rebooted multiple times. Cleared Dalvik and fixed permissions. It finally worked after attemptiing to unlock it for what seem like abother 500 times.
I was going to change over to his latest Deisre HD ROM anyway. So I did a Task 29, and cleaned and reinstalled everything from scratch. It worked perfectly for about 5 days. Now I am getting the same issue with my touch screen. It just seems to go out. Is this typically what happens when it's about to die?
Never mind. I Task29, and flashed a Windows Mobile ROM just to see, and yeah...it's dead...

You have semi-dead digitizer. But it is nothing you can't temporarily fix every time it happens. Just push red (end call) button really hard for a while and it will get fixed for a while. I recommend you using button savior and lock screen with it and unlock with any other button than red one, it should be permanently fixed then. Please hit the thanks button if I helped you.

I hit the thanks button as you gave me hope. I am currently using my old TouchPro 2 with an old NRG Titanium Rom on it for the time being, but will try this today. I’ll install “button savior”, but what am I supposed to do with the app? What settings do I run? I think you are totally right about this, as I noticed when I was unlocking my phone, using the green call button worked most often, but now that’s not even working.

Yes, I have exactly the same problem as you have. My phone was working flawlessly for like a year and a half, but last week all of a sudden the touchscreen sometimes didn't work and sometimes it did. So I tried literally everything, I was fixing my permisions all the time, wiping dalvik, task29, remaking parrtitions, even bought a new sd card. But few days ago I found a solution, by pushing red button really hard (because the digitizer is right behind it) and not using it after. The Button Savior app is a simple app that makes a very little transparent icon on your screen and when you tap it, the menu of buttons will come up (with the same buttons as your hard buttons on your device) so every time you will want to lock the device you will do it on your screen, and won't have to push the hard button and come through all the hassle of pushing the digitizer. I really hope I helped you, as this very same problem was driving my crazy for the past few days.

How long do you hold the red button? Also, I am pushing down really hard. I didn't know you could get the digitizer replaced...I wonder who would do that (no way would I send it to HTC and wait a month), and how much that costs...?
HTC sends phones back crazy quick. Atleast that's how it was for me. They actually sent it back the day they got it from what I remember. It did take a while though for the phone to arrive to HTC (this depend who and from where you send it though) If your phone still has warranty I seriously recommended you send it yo HTC. Just remember to flash it 100% stock before sending it.

Well believe it or not, after pressing the Red phone off button for an eternity and applying a ton of pressure, it's working. I am sure it won't be for long. I have a shortcut to lock the phone on the screen. So basically your saying I should stay away from hitting the Red phone off button, or else that will kill it again? What about the other hard buttons?
I am in the UAE at present, so it might be better for me to just order a digitizer and do the repair myself. I see there are a lot of YouTube videos on the subject.
Thanks everyone for your help!

This helped me a lot.
After i flashed cm13,
I charged my phone using car charger
While it is charged, i hold down the power button until it is rebooted
I do it twice to get my fingerprint scanner back alive.
Sorry for my bad english.
I was wondering if I could get a little input from some experienced users of the Oneplus devices. I am traditionally a HTC One person. I love the Sense UI's going back to Sense 5. And the One devices sturdy build and strong hardware specs.
I have noticed that the Oneplus 2 is virtually the same spec wise as the One M9. They have the same CPU and similar RAM. The biggest difference in specs would be the display size, resolution and PPI.
I am really tempted to go with the Oneplus 2 mostly for the display size. I just was curious if anyone who uses it also had some experience with a Sense UI device and how they compare. And basically overall comparison to the HTC One M8 or M9.
Thanks,

Perhaps similar to what needs to be done with Home button issue. But which partition is responsible for driver of the Home button? Sorry for my English

Brother just wipe cache, delvik, data and system than install new modem with exodus 6.0.1 and open google app.now reboot.
When the phone will boot your fingerprint sensor andhome button will start working.
It's the method which helped me to reset my OnePlus 2.
Press thanks if i helped.
why is it all of a sudden a lot of people (including my self) are having finger printer reader / home button issue on various OS. I was on CM13, some people are on Oxy****. Is there some sort of hardware firmware issue ?

It is not hardware defect my friend.i have come to this conclusion after two times home button and fingerprint sensor failure.
Solution-Wipe system, data, cache and delvik cache in TWRP recovery and flash new modem, exodus 6.0 and open google app and reboot.
I have rocked my OnePlus 2 last three months without fingerprint sensor and dead home button.it is the solution which worked for me.

I think its a mix of luck and bad hardware.
Think has been more than a month since I faced that failure in oxislim, no software solutions worked.
Failure, made a twrp backup, tried every software solution, like clear cache, stopped services, clean flash, stock full zip, etc etc, restored twrp backup started using software buttons, then I just started pressing the home button with my fingernail, really hard like trying to scratch the sensor, and somehow it chance to home screen, tested again, unlocked using FP and it has been flawless since.

how is it a software glitch? CM13 is not even officially released by OnePlus and it too has problems. I am on CM13 seraph's build and my finger print scanner and home button are toast. I'm f'ing fed up with OnePlus, not giving this company a chance any more. Had issues with my OPO and now my OPT.

I cannot confirm is a software issue but I bet is a hardware defect, why?
In my own experience I blame hardware failure like a bad contact gound issue or something just because software didn't fixed my issue, I did something physically to the hardware and instantly started working, since that failure I've been in stock, oxyslim, h2os, customs and never had an issue.
Also couple of people reported using their phone with wet hands or around moisture and FP stopped working, mine fail in a moisture environment (pocket+exercise+hot weather=sweat).
What I think is that reflashing, clearing cache, charging 0-100 they all make the phone heats, with heat moisture goes out and FP start working again, mine didn't
I made a nandroid of my phone (all software is copied including every "software issue")
Changed everything of the software side. Didn't fixed my issue.
Restored nandroid (the one with the same "software issue" I started) is not fixed. At this point I'm angry and frustrated I scratch and press my home button with my fingernail and it start working again.
My personal opinion based on my experience, mine was software? definitely no.

Are you sure that the button is actually dead? I've read of a lot of people having the issue whereby the home button stops responding, and I've actually had it happen on my OPT twice myself and it's not been the hardware...
Two quick things to try (if you haven't already)
1) Try a force reboot of your phone (fixed my issue the first time it happened to me) - by this I mean press and hold the power button for ages, until the phone eventually just powers off immediately (without going through the shutdown process) and then power the phone back on.
2) Not sure if you have rooted your phone, or have a custom recovery (TRWP) but if so try wiping the Cache (not the Dalvic / Art Cache, but the other Cache) and reboot (fixed my issue the second time it happened to me).
Hope this helps.

None of above have worked for me. I've a rooted A2005 running unofficial CM 13. A couple of days back it just stopped working. I thought it's a bug in the ROM. Changing and clean flashing the ROMs didn't fix the issue. Then I realized it's something serious as I remembered that it may have got some moisture when it was inside the chest pocket of my shirt and I got sweat due to some physical hardwork. I'm still not sure though as to what caused the problem.
I would really appreciate if somebody comes up with a solution. Yes, pressing hard the home button has not worked for me either.

Hey guys, I just joined and this is my first post so pardon any stupid questions/statements I made
My Essential phone suddenly switched off while driving and it seems like it self-bricked itself - there is (almost) no life to the phone besides it coming up as "Qualcomm" when plugged into my laptop.
I've tried the following:
Hard-resetting it with the volume down/up + power button many times, for longer than a minute, with no response from the phone, so I can't get to fastboot etc.
Charging it with different 3rd party chargers/cables
Using adb (but can not get debugging mode on)
Charging it for atleast an hour before repeating the above
I've read other forums/topics and I can't seem to find a solution.
Another thing, I've made zero mods to the phone.
Can someone please help me, I'm using an old LG G3 at the moment lol.
Thanks

Thanks for this ... Not sure how to proceed though, seems like each Android maker has their own specific solution (LG has their volume up battery out charger in, vs Samsung holding all of their buttons) so not sure what to do ... any suggestions?

That sucks dude sorry to hear. Did you ever figure it out? My wife has the ph-1 & hers just shutdown on her running latest bone stock build. No root, no mods, it refused to boot for me. After several attempts I gave up for a while. I've been dealing with android for years. I was baffled. So I went back to it & held down power+vol up one last time & the damn thing boots after about 20 seconds. So far its doing fine. This just happened earlier this morning. Before it booted up I tried everything like you & it wouldn't respond. Weird. Definitely keeping an eye on it for now.

It was a few hours. I tried for like an hour to boot it & gave up. Came back to it right after I made my first post quoting you here. Held the power+vol up x'ed fingers & it vibrated then powered on. Let me know if you get yours to boot. I'm going to look into this after work today. I'll talk to ya later. There's gotta be a way to figure your situation out.

Been trying for the past week ... can't seem to get it booted - I literally just put it into the fridge (zip lock bag to [hopefully] keep the moisture out). I've seen a post where someone tried this and it worked. Thanks man, I would appreciate any help I can get
Did anyone try asking essential support?
They've been very helpful to me.
Also had this happen to me, just left it overnight and then it booted. No probs since.

Yes I have, they told me to hold power+volume; try different USB cables. clean port etc. but nothing is helping ... really sucks!

My post from her other day didn't seem to post .
In it I suggested you hold down power + vol down for 15sec (maybe longer) as I think that does a virtual battery pull, but you might need to try some other combos. You should maybe put phone in draw for a week or two, then try .
Also see,

If the "chilling" trick works you might have a bad solder joint, not good, likely cause intermittent problems if it does fix. Or maybe phone shuts down internally if too cold (

thanks for the advice ... I tried all combinations for atleast a minute:
power + vol down
power + vol up
power + vol up and down
doesnt seem to have any life. I'm not sure if I mentioned but there's no sign of LED lights when charging - only sign of life is the Qualcomm port on device manager (windows) ... Sadly this country does not have any authorized entities to open up the phone

It sounds like your only choice is to try leaving it for a prolonged period eg a couple of weeks (don't charge it) & cross fingers you get lucky like some of the others have. Though it does sound like it may be bricked (might be worth installing Essential drivers on another PC & seeing if that gives you any thing more than the Qualcomm port)
I'd be in the same situation as you as I'm in Australia these days. It doesn't seem like local repair shops have any special Essential service tools, but if you have no chance of warranty repair local repair shop might still be able to identify some internal failure even if only basic electronic tests and order part (though might be hard/impossible to identify specific component failure without a circuit diagram or working phone to compare to), so long shot.

PS. You probably tried this already but just in case, try boot into recovery, hold down
vol up + vol down
(NOT power)
probably won't work, but just to cover all bases

Apologies for the late reply ... Phone has been like this for about 3 weeks now ... still no luck; will try the Essential drivers now
Yeah I think I'll end up taking it to a local repair shop; hope for the best and expect the worst I guess

Haha read this at work and gave me some hope, but sadly nothing.
When my phone is plugged into my laptop, Windows makes that signature connection sound; and when I hold power+vol, it effectively makes the "disconnect" followed by the "connect" sounds again, which is surprising

My phone is also hard bricked not even showing led but detecting on PC . currently I don't have PC but yesterday I read about QPST tool . It has an option to backup and restore . I don't know I sound stupid but is there a way to restore firmware of another essential phone through QPST tool . I've tried every thing else .

Sorry I can't offer any advice on your issue. However, can you or anyone here vouch for the reputability of the developer of this tool? I am suspicious as their website does not offer much info in that regard...
