I would reflash the stock rom you have atm and data factory reset afterwards or try a data factory reset first and see if that fixes your issue.
Known bug. Supposedly fixed in recent firmware updates. More details in existing threads.
Or simply circumvent the issue entirely by upgrading to a good third party screen saver.
If you're ambitious, you could also try the following edit, which may help.
Make a backup first, then try editing build.prop
Code:
mot.proximity.delay=0
ro.lge.proximity.delay=25
.

I have added mot.proximity.delay=0 but i couldnt find ro.lge.proximity.delay=25. Is there any other way to fix this problem. I have to pull my battery out couple of times a day and its starting to get to me.

I have the same issue... do you still get this issue? For me, sometimes, the screen does not wake up only the capacitive keys... I have to press the power button again to turn it off and then press power again to turn it on.
me too
Hi,
I'm having the same problem.
It was intermittent for a short while and a battery pull would fix it, now it's permanent.
I get capacitive buttons, I can boot into recovery or download.
I can hear touches on the screen and the annoying at$t boot sound is back since I used Odin to reflash to stock.
I think I have to take this phone to a service center and see if they will exchange it.
I'm worried that there may be traces of towelroot but from the thread that provides stock firmware and instructions for Odin it would seem that I'm good.
Has anyone had any luck with this issue or have any other tips to try?
I'm bummed because I just applied a glass protector and it looks like I'll have to get another.
Not to mention having to drive to the center.
Thanks.
With the new 1.100 motherboard version the problem is solved. It's a hardware defect. Maybe it will be fixed in next fw versions with some voltage or timing setting changes but a mobo change will definitely solve it.
For the record:
The at$t service center reflashed my phone and the screen works again.
IDK why flashing stock with odin did not work for me.
I can see from the post above mine that the problem might come back, I'll insist on a replacement if it does.
still getting the issue but for me I just need to press power 3 times for it to wake up; no need to remove battery

hahah... but this solution worked for me
Ever since I flashed 5.0 to my 900V, my battery life has gone significantly down. Now this can be expected to some extent as I can no longer use Amplify to control NlpCollectorWakeLock (which is one of a few wakelocks going to town on my battery). One of the others is bluedroid_timer, which is part of bluetooth. I did some searching and I saw some other people with the same issue, but no answers. I use a Moto 360 on a daily basis, use bluetooth streaming in my car, and use bluetooth headphones at the gym, so turning off bluetooth isn't really an option. Bluesleep is another one that is spending a lot of time running. Anyone have any ideas? I've read a few threads where people mention this problem, but no one has posted any answers yet. Here is an album of my wakelocks.
Did you ever figure this out? I'm experiencing a very similar issue.
I'm not rooted, so I can't see the specific wakelocks but it's absolutely Bluetooth related, even with all device profiles deleted. If I have the BT radio on, my battery gets hammered and the phone never goes into deep sleep, turn the radio off and all is normal.

I just started experiencing this as well. I'm on a T-Mobile S4, running a GPE rom. It started happening in the last month, not exactly sure when. I ran a rooted TouchWiz stock rom before that and I don't recall ever seeing it.
So you're running fully stock? I was curious if I installed some weird app or software package that messed with things, but if you're running stock that would seem to rule that out..

yup, Galaxy S5 with current Verizon build of Lollipop, not rooted, just Nova launcher and my usual apps. Since the bluetooth battery issue, I've tried reboots, clearing cache partition, deleting all BT device profiles, etc. Everything short of an FDR, which I don't have time for right now.

In lots of google searches, seems like many have this issue, but i couldn't find a solution anywhere, nor any consistency among devices. Seems that some custom kernels fix the issue.
But if you want to submit bug reports here, there's an official Google bug report thread on the issue that is alive:

My solution was a particular app was causing it. Same for another user if you read the thread.
The app for me was MyRadar. Another user had a problem with Gas Buddy.
Both of these apps were recently updated to add bluetooth permissions.

I did see that and I am a GasBuddy user. There was also mention of NFC, that was the first thing I looked at. Experimenting now with GasBuddy removed.
I'm not rooted so I can't check for individual wakelocks, I have to just run it for a while, then look at the "Awake" bar graph in the stock Battery app, so it takes while to see if anything changed. I really wish Google would give us the choice whether to let 3rd party apps see the detailed battery stats, locking that down made it so much harder to diagnose this kind of thing without root.
Glad you got yours sorted out!

so far it's looking like GasBuddy was the culprit in my case. I've been running several hours with GasBuddy removed, both NFC and Bluetooth are on, and battery usage/wakelocks appear normal.
I'm gonna give it a day or so to see if the problem spontaneously returns, then re-install GasBuddy and see what happens.

Definitely a GasBuddy issue on my phone, "Awake" bar graph becomes a solid block soon after installing GasBuddy, and returns to normal after uninstalling it. I've repeated this test a few times.

I started experiencing the issue with excessive wakelocks from Bluedroid_timer on my stock Nexus 6 about a month ago. Noticed my battery life dropped significantly as a result. Used Permission Friendly Apps to see which apps were using BT and if I happened to install any around the time this problem began. Only new apps indicating BT connectivity were GasBuddy and Netflix. No idea why GasBuddy needs BT but I'm pretty sure I installed it about the same time the wakelock issue began. Good to know someone else saw the same thing. Just uninstalled it and waiting to see if the wakelocks stop.

How does yours occur?? Is it while using? And what's the frequency of occurrences
It's only happened a few times while in the process of using it. Usually I find that it resets while in my pants pocket. And it does so quite often - several times per day. So in these cases it may be an overheating issue. I also get occasional freezes where I have to hold down the power button for 15 seconds to get the phone to reboot.

I had 2 random reboots in 2 weeks. Not too many so far, but I sure hope it does not get more frequent.
I've random reboots each 2 days xD. I mean, my usage is very low, so my battery goes empty after three days more or less. So, on the second day, my phone suddenly reboots, I don't know why, I supose it's a bug about battery measurement or something similar. Can I see a log file somewhere to see what could happen?
Regards!

I have been facing this type of problem for almost two months. I was using xiaomi eu weekly rom. most of the time it shutdowns in pocket. I have searched in net about this problems and found no permanent solution. Later, I saw that someone told about proximity sensor issue. After deep sleep in whole night, it started the problems. So, he told to restart the phone after waking up in the morning. So, I did and it never shutdown in the whole day but did shutdown at night. I tried stable rom instead of dev rom. Seems like stable rom has less issue with it because i used stable rom more than 3 days and it never shutdowns during that period.

Hi there,
I have been experiencing random shutdown on my one plus 5. It happened twice in 15 mins when I was listening to Spotify on my headphones.
Not sure if it's to do with the latest update or not .
Just wondering if anyone experienced this. I have also post on the 1+ community , hoping it's just some software glitch. Overall, it's an impressive phone. Oneplus should sort out there glitches before shipping the product out tho.
Yeah software glitch maybe try resetting your phone ..haven't had random reboots on mine so every device is not having it...if you can ..then replace yours otherwise enjoy it... there's always custom Roms...btw have u updated all software updates yet

Probably a malfunctioning app, try a safe boot to see if it happens again or data factory reset.

Nope all good here.
Happened today to my phone. Weird. Didn't happen again. I guess is a software bug or an app not working well.

Hello, it happened to me this night, I was surprised when I woke up that my phone was on the pin-code screen. I didn't shut down my phone just put the plane mode. (4.5.5)
Happens to mine. Maybe 4-5 times since I got it. On 4.5.5.
Like, I will not use my phone, pull it out if my pocket and it'll be black, non responsive. I'm not completely sure if it's shut off already, or just non responsive, and need force shutdown.
Not much more to add than this :b
I have not experienced any random shutting down.
Any fix to that? I've had that happened to mine 7 times already since I got mine on June 26th. I've had the issue yesterday while sending a sticker on Facebook Messenger to a contact, and a couple of minutes before whilst playing Pokemon Go ... this is really borring. The last two times it happened, there was an update waiting to be installed (well, on the german servers at least, since I didn't have the update here in Belgium but once I used a proxy, I could download and install it), not this time tho.
I love the phone but my GF just told me to switch as if she has a problem or if I have a problem and can't use the phone, this would be really bad. I would prefere not to change, so if you guys have a solution, I'm all ears

Sometimes my phone switches off whilst uploading a big file to drive
I don't understand why it's happening even in their 5 series. The 3 series has this stupid problem as well. Really frustrating. One Plus needs to get a grip and get rid of this glitch ASAP if they wish to remain in the game.
I upgraded and got this phone on launch day. All in all I'm pretty happy with it. It's definitely a premium phone.
The thing that confuses me, is the 12Gb of RAM and I'm seeing apps like Imgur and Netflix freeze while trying to use them.
The only thing I can think may have been an issue was that I recovered a Google based backup (which was backed up from my OP7Pro) during install.... But that shouldn't affect these apps?
I have deleted these apps. Cleared the apps cache and data. Etc etc
Anyone have any thoughts on a solution? Thanks in advance

Problem solved. I was beginning to fall in love with the 90 Hz display. 60 Hz looks so dull now.
Just to add, I do not have this problem.
i had problems qhen i restored my google backup, like bluetooth didnt want to work, so i just rebooted, might want to reset and try netflix without the backup restore
I would like to add I had some battery issues as well from a brand new out of the box phone and said fudge it, factory wiped.
All issues dissipated.
Anyone of you have the ghost touch issues while charging yet? I got the issue on the 2nd day. happens when using whatsapp mostly.
The only issue I've run into was just out of the box. It would not recognize my SIM card for more than a second. Kept going back and forth between being detected and no SIM. I did a factory reset, and that took care of it. No issues so far, super fast. I came from a 6T, very simple switchover, and I'm definitely loving the Mclaren.
Chrome is crashing every time. I also tried Yuzu browser and that crashed also. Anybody using Chrome can tell me if they had any issues with Chrome?
