For now there have several customer ROMs in S7 Edge community, such as RENOVATE EDGE, Echoe Rom, KryxOS, TEKXnesis HYBRID S7E, S7 Edge Rom, etc, I wonder which one is to be the best overall performance/ Battery usage?

In all actuality you need to flash them and find out for yourself which is right and works best for you. Besides half the fun is flashing new systems.

Ahhhhh but each journey begins with a simple step. And look at the valuable experience you'll gain.
Each person has their own idea of what will work best and yours will certainly be different.
I've flashed them all my friend and literally hundreds more on various devices.
Flash away and find your favorite that's the beauty of it.

has anyone tried rooting it through the s6 or s6 edge method?
Not until an exploit in 5.1.1 is found.
Locked bootloaders are the devil I tell you!
My VZW Edge is still on 5.02, rooted with ping pong and flashed with flashfire. Easiest with locked bootloader.
5.1.1, I'm afraid, is locked pretty damn tight.
May be a while.

My bad, I'm stuck in AT&T land and forgot this was a general forum. My bad lol.
Not sure about the chainfire method but it might be worth a shot.
Sucks for us At&t and Verizon users.

Samsung has put up a challenge to our sharpest Developer's. I'm guessing that Samsung's actions can be defeated eventually, someone will do it just to upset Samsung, and to prove that XDA's Devs are just as good, if not better that their's so when will they get root? who knows, but you can almost guarantee that it's being worked on as this is being written.

If anything this will get more onboard to find an exploit.
This is a brand new device, it will be exploited!
As it matures and these exploits are patched it gets harder as in next to impossible.
The same thing happens in iOS land.
Game of cat and mouse.
Just need to be a smarter cat.
And have patience.
Lots of patience.
One thing I can say is this (S6Edge+) has to be the smoothest out of the box Android experience ever! And on Verizon, that's saying a lot!
So (can't believe I'm actually saying, well technically posting, this!) using it stock isn't hateful at all!
Compared to the VZW Note4, I feel like I've gone from a dinghy to a sportfish!
Not sure if having the extra GB of RAM has anything to do with it or not...
But yes this with AOSP would be pure candy.

I was a bit gutted when I found out UK wouldn't be getting sd820 version as I have never had a phone with Samsung's own SOC however after doing a bit more reading my nerves are settled. Seem you not gonna notice any changed in day to day use. I never run custom ROMs so it not too bad. I'm actually looking forward too it now. Would be nice if the logo on the front was gone tho see your point on that

Down the line when it stops getting support and i said that the sd version will get better tw support so its better to have the sd 820
Looks like battery drain problems on sd.
I was thinking of sd820 to purely because of new feature introduced called trusignal which boost your reception.
Exynos will probably have better dac and perform better with the Samsung.
I'm just thinking of it as how well does apples processors work with their phones as they are made for them, so surely samsung must have really tuned the exynos to work well with samsung devices with least battery drain.
Thanks

I don't know it might be possible
If so right after gaining root you'll have to use possibly Flashify to flash SuperSu 2.68 because there'll be no custom recovery or custom kernel.
So if one can use Flashify to flash SuperSu then one needs to use Root Explorer to delete all of Kingroot and then just leave SuperSu then FlashFire can work.

And as with the S6 that will be patched in the next update. I don't think rooting Samsung devices in the future will be possible.
With Samsung Pay being made such a huge deal, Samsung was not going to easily compromise on their mobile payment solution. While the developer community’s intent is clean when looked from a wide viewpoint, one can’t deny that root and things beyond are used for nefarious activities. Acts of rooting and unlocking the bootloader open the device up to a world of possibilities, and this world has both the positives and negatives to it. Things will get serious when you consider that a large populace is expected to migrate their banking information to these devices and use them at all local payment terminals. The variables involved are huge, and Samsung would certainly not risk the reputation of its devices as well Samsung Pay’s as competitors to more “secure” alternatives like Apple and Apple Pay.

I read that blog as well. I also read in other tech sites that Samsung really want to make these devices extremely secure so major businesses will corporately buy them like they used to do the Blackberry.
As far as root goes I'm still of the belief that we will have root but as you stated and was proven on the S6 Edge the exploit will be patched on the next update.
That being said all I need is initial root and I'll run with it.
I won't Odin to stock to update. If not I still thoroughly enjoy this fantastic device it's certainly the epitome of the high end flagship device. Plus I still have my OPX as my back up that'll feed my flashing addiction LOL.

+1 I won't be selling or trading my OPO now, which is about as developer-active as any Nexus device I've ever owned. Good grief, no messing around with this one! And that's a pretty decent price! :good:
When you get it, let me know how it does on AT&T. Mine will be a Southeast Asia G930F/FD, and I'll be using it on Straight Talk/AT&T when I'm in the States. I'm assuming the 930F/935F cover all the appropriate AT&T LTE bands.

Even if you were born yesterday, there wouldn't be enough years of your life left to wait for AT&T to allow root. But yeah, I've always purchased international devices (HTC or Samsung) here in Cambodia and used them in the US to avoid headaches with the carriers, get faster updates, have more development options, etc., etc., etc... They also sell faster used on ebay and swappa.

Hi everyone,
Is it normal that untill now there are only 2 custom roms?
I'm used to having several rom option when switching devices....
What do you think?
Yes I find it very weird indeed
I think it's because snapdragon versions are locked and development for exynos isn't that easy (at least it wasn't with older samsung devices)

I was wondering the same thing myself and just assumed that the lack of ROMs was just due to the fact the phone is still relatively new.... I could be wrong though.

exynos = Closed Source
