Is there anything out there that will work flashed with a real recovery rather then just SafeStrap?
With the recent bootloader unlock, I'm curious whats currently available? and what might actually work, will anything we currently have work?
Or does everything have to be customized to work now that we have a true bootloader unlock?
I would like to toast this thread, I should have responded to the post under me, but forgot to check for one.
Jasmine rom 6.1 works perfectly just download and flash the zip in twrp. Don't forget to do a full wipe like in the picture below.

I'm just got around to trying Jasmine I've been flashing everything under the sun all night, CM13, Dirty Unicorns, and now Jasmine but
a bunch of other stuff also.
I'm having trouble connecting to my 4G LTE data on all of them including Jasmine,
is there some modem firmware I should be flashing over these ROMs after installation?
A couple ROMs did include firmware flashing instructions but I wasn't sure if that was relevant
if coming from OF1 to a unlocked bootloader and then flashing a custom ROM.
Too be fair though its hard to pick out which instructions are relevant when the bootloader
is unlocked and you have a real recovery, and which doesn't apply to us, since the instructions
usually aren't written with that in mind. =/
I've never seen this before with ROMs on other phones.
Anyone having issues with non-Verizon server providers especially MVNO's like Straight Talk (Verizon)?
Thanks for the info that its working for most people and should be working, I wonder
what my issue with it is then.
I've been trying to enter in a custom Access Point Name on a bunch of the ROMs, unfortunately Jasmine's seems to be greyed
out and I can't add a custom one.
Cellular phone calls are working, but data is not though Dirty Unicorns did have 1X data working but that is the best
I've come up with so far.
I just need to deliver something usable on this phone so my uncle can wait for a CM release that mostly works.
We were worried about a update being shipped out on the stock ROM updating over the bootloader unlock,
so we went ahead and tried some of the custom ROMs everyone has have generally positive results with.
After a long time playing around with it I accidentally formatted my TWRP backup of the stock ROM not paying
enough attention, which I should have backed up to a real hard drive.
I originally came to this trying to get hotspot working since he's on a MVNO the stock Verizon Note 3 ROM
won't hotspot or tether, and he has no other options for a little internet access out in the boonies.
Now I'm in a odd situation having to deliver something that works well enough for him to wait it out for a
CM release.
And don't know if flashing stock will lock the bootloader again or if I should flash it with Odin or if I can flash a stock
image with TWRP and where to get one for that.
I would prefer not to have to do that though.

In the Jasmine installation instructions should I be following anything related to the developer edition?
FLASH lk_hltevzw-v6.4.zip in recovery after flashing the Jasmine ROM image?
And in our situation should I be flashing the firmware with Odin after the install as per the Developer Edition instructions?
Or just flashing Jasmine and rebooting?

No disregard the instructions about the kernel if your bootloader is from the 0F1 firmware update. A custom kernel needing to be flashed was only for developer editions because the bootloader was unable to be upgraded without locking the device. Hence tweaks to the kernel were needed to run the rom with no issues. It doesn't apply to you if you unlocked your 0F1 bootloader.

Got any ideas for someone who has successfully flashed Jasmine before but then went
and tried a bunch of ROMs to see if they would work but then when I was done
went back to flash Jasmine and now it infinitely boots never stops after flash?
[Solved]
Weird I cannot get Jasmine to boot without flashing the kernel, but I can get her
to boot with it.
I'm really thinking I need a clean slate on this.

Hello, I cannot My AT&T Galaxy S4 into recovery mode. According to Boot Manager I have 2 recoveries already installed(CWM and TWRP) but every time I try reboot into recovery I get "Could not do Normal Boot ODIN MODE". I installed one of the recoveries using Goo manager and because it didn't work I tried with boot manager, What am I missing?
Goo Manager doesn't work for the AT&T S4... I did the same thing a while back. You need to use Safestrap for this phone. Look for the right version of it. I'm assuming you are using the stock ROM so find out what software version you are on and download the right version of Safestrap. Good luck.
Btw I forgot to add that you lost your stock recovery so you don't have one anymore. You can take it to a bestbuy and tell them Kies broke your phone and they can reflash it for you, or you can install a custom recovery.

Also, you can't have 2 recoveries installed at "same time". Find your build in settings. If mf3/mk2/nb1 you can't flash custom recoveries. Will also be limited to TW roms. You must use SafeStrap. So, probably need to get very familiar with it before going farther.
Good Luck on it--
Thanks!

Thanks, I'm on MK2. I get this message in Rom manager, should I proceed to install Safestrap?
Sorry for the picture size, don't know how to resize.
You need to use ODIN to flash the original firmware back to your phone (MK2 from the looks of it). Then, install safetrap using the instructions available in the Safestrap thread. Make sure you read the entire thread before you do anything. As already mentioned, only safestrap will work with your phone, not Goo Manager and not ROM Manager.

Is there a way I can flash the stock recovery myself? I'm not in the US. Also, I installed Safestrap without flashing the original firmware and everything seems to be working fine. Its all up to you if you wanna flash a custom ROM. Personally I don't because I have always had bad luck with modding phones and tablets. that's why I only root, but don't let that discourage you. Make sure that you have the correct ROM for your device before installing it.

Hyperdrive not installing
Hey, I'm having trouble getting hyperdrive to install. I rooted my phone a couple weeks ago, Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 kk 4.4.2, ss 3.75. I successfully installed jasmine, but I want a bit more out of my phone. Downloaded rsl8 3x, but when I install and reboot I get a black screen for 15 min, unresponsive, so I pull the battery and do the vol down /home /pwr button trick to get it to reboot. Any ideas?

You have to flash the NC2 kernel to get hyperdrive to boot. It's flashed in Odin. Put your phone in download mode and flash in the ap slot. See this post here for NC2 kernel. Step 8 coming from NC4 OTA. You should boot up after that.

Okay, assumed you knew how to use Odin. NC2 kernel isn't flashed through a recovery on your phone. You need your computer and Odin software.

Pure Nexus looked like it fit the description but the method of flashing looked like it might limit my future options.

Well you won't be able to flash cm. Pure nexus is great but yes also limited with not having a stable Dev for the ROM anymore. I actually flashed GoldFinger shortly after the pn Dev switched phones and I like it a lot. Tons of room for customization since it still has Samsung features (coming from a person that doesn't favor touchwiz). Here's a preview

Cm requires cwm/twrp. These recoveries are only accessible for using of the MDL boot loader, which is the original s4. Upgrades after that are stuck with safe strap and we can't downgrade that far. [emoji24]
Oh wow. So they have an Apple-like situation going on? So I should only look at safestrap roms?

Yep yep. All compatible Roms for us will be in the all things general thread.
So at this point I am wondering is there any roms highly favored over the rest? I'm going to look them all over but I want to hear some thoughts in here.
Also after following that rooting guide, can I simply install safestrap from my phone or do I need to flash the nc1 kernel and reroot again?
@iB4STiD is a pretty favored Dev around here it seems so all of his Roms are a pretty good bet. I haven't tried GoldenEye but I love GoldFinger because it has the touchwiz of s5. Older versions I cant hang with. @Joe-Tech is also great but he has an s5 now but I saw that he's still trying to put out builds, mainly for pure nexus so there's still some hope for that ROM.
And how about safestrap? Can it be installed on rooted nj4 or do you need to install it on nc1 first?
So while on nj4, if thats the base youre on, you'll need to be using the nc1 kernel (flashed with Odin 3.09). Which I assume you're on since you're rooted. While still on the nc1 kernel you'll flash safe strap, v3.75 b01. All of these files are in the Odin to stock thread in general in the spoiler under nj4 rooted with ss. After you have ss installed then you Odin the nj4 kernel back onto the phone.
Is that kernel ver correct?
Hmm I'm not sure. What method did you do for upgrading?
Flashed with odin
Okay if you don't recall flashing the nj4 kernel after successfully rooting on the nc1 kernel, you should still be on it. So download busy box from the play store, and install it from within the app. After make sure you have the ss 3.72 b01 apk on your phone then install that. Then you can put the nj4 kernel back on your phone with Odin. If you don't remember, flash the nc1 kernel anyway in Odin.
After all that you can flash Roms in ss. Make sure you have the nj4 modules and a download of SuperSU (to make sure you dont lose root) on your phone to flash. Only use the stock slot.
Oh and if the ss app disappears from your drawer, just install the app again from your phone.
The guide has you flash back to nj4 after you towelroot in nc1, I'm guessing I need to flash back to nc1 then install that?

No the guide is for if you're on nc1. If you were on nc1 and used Odin to get to nj4, it only sounds like you didn't complete the rest of the steps.
The Odin method has you flash the nj4 ROM and then the nc1 kernel because the nj4 kernel can't be rooted. That's why after you successfully root and get ss, you can flash the nj4 kernel. But before that you have to install SuperSU to make sure you keep root.
I followed the steps to a t and got root with the method I linked to in the original post.
Bootloader readout.
So if you're only without safe strap, get busy box from the play store and install fully. Then the correct version of safe strap just because its stable, and you should be in business to flash compatible Roms.
hello
First off, I have modded with cyanogenmod quite some time ago.
I have kept that up date (cause of their nice update program), but I have never updated the carrier roaming lists (PRL?). My coverage seems to be crappy and I think it just may have to do with my newbishness.
I am running Cyanogenmod 11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-jflte
Sprint PRL = 55018
is there a retard guide for me to easily update.... any suggestions or links would be great. I have spent over an hour searching google, but I am obviously using the wrong keywords and I am getting frustrated. I keep stumbling across other models / mods and I am fearful of breaking something....

sorry for being a pain, but as I dont do this often...
if I flash the zip here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257503
this will put me back to TouchWIz original (plus root)
then I will follow the rest of the steps
(sorry for being dense, I was incorrectly thinking that I would loose the ability to use clockworkmod recovery / restore functions once I flashed the touchwiz rom and I would have to root before I could restore cyanogen, but that is firmware not ROM..... )
Its late and I have been up forever...

I need some help.
Using Clockworkmod recovery V 6.0.4.7.
Tried using http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-rooted-stock-roms/ >>>> "Download Galaxy S4 rooted Stock ROM Sprint SPH-L720 Latest MF9 "
checked the filesize and the md5 sum, all good.
WHen I tried to use CWM to install zip from SDcard1 it gave me an error (missing 4 of 5) and aborted the installation.
I tried to search somewhere else to find a .zip that would bring the Sprint SPH-L720 back to stock, however they all seem to not have .zip for CWM recovery however make use of ODIN (which i cannot use as I dont have a windows computer, I use linux)
I want to go back to stock to update the prl before going to cyanogenmod 12.1
any suggestions ?
thanks
qu1nn
Rough night here.
somehow I lost clockworkmod recovery and ended up being still rooted with stock mf9 recovery, but I still had cyanogenmod 11 working; I recovered by installing clockworkmod application; > model > flash clockworkmod recovery > shutdown.
In the midst of that fiasco I say this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2296167
which implies that keeping the PRL as up to date is not so required.....
so I bailed after several different attempts to install a ROM that would allow me to do a prl update.
I flashed the latest cyanogenmod nightly 12.1 and I am off and running.

Hello All,
Need some direction please.
I have a Galaxy S5 SM-G900I
Its rooted and confirmed but when i tried to install The Galaxy Project for Samsung Galaxy S5 G900F/FQ/I/M/P/T/W8 the following happens.
I Restart phone into Recovery Mode and Do a FULL Wipe after that a menu appears and i choose install from sd when its done the same menu appears and if i do a reboot device after reboot it goes back to a fresh factory install of 5.0 Lollipop.
Also i have tried a number of different roms and also different root, But to no avail.
The same happens
Any help would be much appreciated
Many Thanks
which Bootloader and Modem you running - i have the same phone and im a flashaholic
DL the BL and modem for MM and install Insanity rom V3 live ( really an S7 rom )
Give that a try
It sounds like you may be using the wrong BL/Modem for your version of software
Will do.
Many Many thanks
Downloaded Latest BOOTLOADER/MODEM Packages

And also
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/insanity-s7-edge-port-devices-mm-bl-t3344821
Instructions to install
1) Put the zip file in your SD Card
2) Reboot in Recovery Mode (Twrp )
3) Wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache and System
4) Install the ROM
5) Reboot.
6) Profit.
Followed the above instructions but after Data wipe and cache, Dalvic cache and system was no where to be found,
Installed from sd card and as soon as it started i got the following errors
E:footer is wrong
E:signature verification failed
did a reboot and same result as before.
This is driving me nuts.
Many Thanks
Current details are
SM-G900I
Android version 5.0
Baseband version G900IDDUIBOAI
Build No. LRX2IT.G900IDVUIBOJI
Many Thanks
Would sincerely appreciate any input on this matter.
Many Thanks
Which version of TWRP are you running?
3.0.0.0 works spot on for me, and I've only used it once, but 3.0.2.0 seems OK too, newer versions have problems mounting partitions / External SD
AFAIK, Bootloaders can not be flashed from recovery, you need to flash that with ODIN, probably the modem too, then boot into TWRP and flash the ROM

I use philz recovery ..I find the other one too complicated and easy to go wrong... Use philz and there is a choice for wipe for new ROM... Honestly simple is best.. Used it for years not one issue... Tried the other recovery program and nearly bricked my phone ...

What a shame as i have already installed and used TWRP 3.0.0.0.
And after following instructions and installed Insanity S7 Edge v3 LIVE, upon reboot all was going well and at the end of the progress bar it came to a halt @ starting apps.
It now goes to Samsung splash screen to Insanity rom is installing (starting apps).
Its switching between these two every few seconds.
The phone is otherwise is non responsive,
I dont know hot to stop/fix this.
Again many thanks
Managed to get philz recovery on and working but still stuck on that loop
many thanks
Some how managed to revert back to Andriod ver 5.0
What a relief : )
many thanks for all the help
Wonder if the downloaded ROM is corrupt... Try a different ROM... Try the new Nova ROM.. Download that and stock it on your mem card and install ... Don't forget to do full wipe ...
