Like many of you guys, I have custom built my own PC. Yeah, it's a little outdated with a Q6600 but it will do for a good year or two more. Good thing I bought a Quad Core. But anyways, getting back to topic, you guys should realize that the Power Output of the front two USB ports are not the same as the USB ports that are in the back. This is a fact as far as my system is concerned. I know because I use a Lacie External drive which will only power on with the rear USB ports.
If you charge the SGS with the included wall charger, it will charge up in about 4 hours. When I leave it on my front USB port, I would wake up in the morning only to find it 60-70 percent full.
PS - I am amazed by the battery of this thing. Here is the break down. I fully charged by 1am. Took it off... then started using it quite a bit till around 3am ish. When I went to bed, the charge was at 72 percent. I work up 6 hours later and guess what, it was at 69 percent. Pretty neat.
The USB 2.0 only requires that a motherboard provides 150mA to a single port (& 500mA to 5 ports). Where as a chargers don't conform to this standard and provides a much higher charge, which charges your battery much quicker.
Only use USB if you have nothing esle.
The wall charger that came with the SGS is a 700mA. I just ordered a 1000mA wall and car charger.
The more I use this phone the more I am amazed by it. The Battery life on this thing is really great. It's already been close to 12 hours (11:30) and the battery is now finally at 49%
I've used this phone quite a bit and the battery held up really well. I used Let's Golf, Navigation, Armored Strike, Calls, Texts, Gmail... Good stuff.
So your telling me if i get a charger with more mA it will charge faster? Where can i get a bigger mA charger.
I don't know, but my battery charges fast as hell. It goes up about 5% in 20 minutes.

5% in 20mins, that's 15% per Hr, or 6.5 hrs from empty to full. You are happy with about 6.5 hrs for a full charge?

will it hurt the battery life or shorten the amount of time you can use the battery if you use a higher mA? because if it wont then why didnt Samsung just include a 1000mA charger with it?

It will do neither.
read this. Gives some basics on Li-ion batteries. link
Essentially these batts can and should be charged at 1C c=capacity. Our batts are 1500mA so we could and should charge at 1500mA.
Slower charging is fine but these batteries rely on circuitry recognizing a drop in voltage to turn the charge off, or down to a lower current as to not damage the battery. If you charge at a higher rate the drop in voltage is more obvious than with a lower voltage and harder to miss thus less chance of an overcharge and battery damage. Added bonus is the battery charges quicker
Over charging is the killer of batteries. Overcharge occurs more from circuitry missing a change in voltage and failing to terminate.
Hope this helps.

A dedicated chip inside the phone regulates the battery charge.

Its obvious you didn't even bother reading 6 POSTS up. This thread isn't even a full 2 pages, stop being lazy.
So I bought my car charger (cigarette adapter + separate usb cable) from
"Mono Price".
Specs:
PID:3523 Car Charger (Cigarette Lighter) to USB Female Converter - Black
PID:5139 USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/28AWG Cable - 10ft
Very weird thing is happening, instead of charging my phone it drains it .
The battery icon moves back and forth as if it is charging but it drains my battery relativity fast.
5 mins using the car charger I lost 25% of battery life .
Does anyone know why this is happening ?

How...? I am on my third Vibrant and i last 6-7 hours...
Hello folks, I am very concerned with my HTC HD2 as it takes like over 4 hours to fully recharge the battery. I have got this HD2 from the market here on XDA and it works very good overall, except for this problem when recharging it. I thought it was the charger and I have tried many usb to wall chargers even the the iPhone's 4 one, but nothing has changed.
I have also tried several roms and kernels but nothing has changed on this side as well. I wiped everything and put back win mobile 6.5 T-mobile stock rom, but hey, no difference here too..
I am wondering if there might be something wrong with the phone itself or can it be the battery going in holiday???....
How can I figure this out???
I have downloaded Battery Doctor from the market and it says the battery is in good health, and I get up to 14 hours with a full charge with mytouch 4G rom and kernel rafpigna 1.7 cpu 1.3Ghz OC.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem ??? do you guys have any suggests ???
This problem is driving me really crazy...

Anyways I was thinking to get the battery extended 2300mah
How many hours does your battery last???
Are you using the original HD2 charger? I have tried many different chargers and they always charge at a different rate. It has to be that, not the battery.

Unfortunately it came with its original charger broken and I have never had the pleasure to try with it.. Anyways I am using a charger that has the same specs of the original one, which is the usb charger of the iPhone 4, and yea same result ...
I have downloaded currentwidget from the market and it gets less than 200mA of current in, when it usually should get around 400mA, sometimes the value goes down to 200mA as well, which makes me really wonder the problem might be the usb port of the phone .
Does a broken battery does that as well??

I think it has to do with the charger you're using . When I charge mine I usually see anything from 500+mA to 700+mA on my battery monitor widget depending on how much charge the battery has, and like Segnale007 said it usually takes about 2 hrs to fully charge.

I can't say it's the battery cause you say it lasts you 14 hours, usb port? maybe. Your battery is good for it to last that much (on averge usage of course). It's the different charger that you're using.

That's your issue there, 0.2A (aka 200mA).
The UK HD2 charger for example, is 1A (aka 1000mA).
To work out the maximum time it should take to charge the battery:
(capacity x inefficiency factor) / charging current
(1230 x 1.15)/200 = 7 hours
(1230 x 1.15)/1000 = 1.4 hours

That charger only delievers 0.2 A which is 200ma , you need at least a 500ma charger, mine is a 1 A ( 1000 ma ) and its quite normal to see a 700 ma rate while charging..

Take a look on ebay or any local phone shop/online phone accessory shop.
You want a micro usb charger that has an output current of at least 500mA/0.5A
The original HTC ones are 1000mA.
Blackberry ones I've seen are 700mA so they're good enough.
200mA isn't a problem, it won't damage your battery, in fact it will live slightly longer as it's being put under less stress when charging, but don't use your phone while you're charging with it as you'll be drawing more current than the charger can supply.
So for instance, if you wanted a car charger so you could use the phone as a satnav and talk via bluetooth, you'd need a 1A charger to cope with the drain on the battery.

With very, very light use about 55 hrs. That's not extended.
Alright, my dad has managed to temporary fix its original charger and I can confirm there's nothing wrong with the battery and the phone itself. It gets beyond 800mA with the original charger and fully recharge the batter within an hour and half, which is great..
Ok now I have to find a compatible USB to wall charger with the same frequency.
Since its a T-Mobile US HD2 its original charger is american, and since I am in Italy I'd get an Italian standard wall charger. Does the Italian HD2 original wall charger has the same frequency of the american one??
Thanks

i heard the battery get totally broken after one year of using the original 25W charger , what is ur experiences ? does ur phone over heat too when charging does it get to 50-60 C degrees?
I've been charging mine with the turbo charger since day one, it's been fine. There is technology built in to monitor the battery temps and ramp down the charge speed as the battery gets full. I've had my phone for 16 months now.
Max temp I get is 42-44c

same here : 15 months with my MXF the 25w turbo2 charger.
Battery never go over 45° in charge, battery life still as good as the first day
In my car I have the Moto 25w charger. With navigation and other apps running the temperature rises to about 46 degrees. At this point the charge rate drops. Only if my telephone is at the cool air and out of its cover does the charging rate remain at the full turbo charge rate

Not so much that the battery fails. The connector (which is kind of crucial for QC 2.0/3.0) or the charge controller craps out. Battery's fine. Was fine when I did my swap out for charge failure. It's not the battery, which people incorrectly presume is the problem- the charge system is a feedback loop process running in the background while the OS is running. When you're dead, down, no charge in the battery, the device only draws USB 2.0 power levels, 500mA, until the OS can come up enough to manage the charging. Part of the reason they do this is because you're using a USB connection to charge with and unless you've got the 1.5 A USB charge slot or an AC charger with the ability to source up to 2.4 A of juice, trying to pull that much current will wipe your USB port on a PC/Laptop/etc OUT. This is just with traditional charging. Turbo/QuickCharge charging is about raising the voltages over the USB 2.0 lines on a cable to up to 12v as opposed to 5, to allow you to jam a bit more current through the lines and to the device, effectively doubling the power being fed to the charge system. Problem with that is that you REALLY need the OS up and running to manage that. It requires info from the Charge Controller chip that is handshook from the charger.
If your charge controller is damaged, or if the cable doesn't have clean data and power lines, it just simply WON'T WORK. It will just USB mode charge until you fix the "problem"- either of which requires Lenovo to re-work the board...if it's even possible to fix. USB charging takes forever with this class of device- because the battery is a huge tank of juice compared to the devices of old. So it "looks" like the battery got "broke".
Having said this, there's about 20-40% of the units out there, depending on the crowd you listen to, that have a defective charge controller system and the phone flat-out won't ever go into any mode other than USB.
Hi,
I own a Galaxy Not 10.1 2014 Wifi (SM-P600) currently running RessurectionRemix (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...om-resurrection-remix-n-sm-p600-wifi-t3606313)
Last year I replaced my battery with a new Samsung Original battery. But now i cant get the battery to charge to 100%. It always stops at ~45%.
If i check the charge current with the app Ampere it says maximum 450mA. It makes no difference which charger or cable I use.
Because of the loose fit of the MicroUSB connector I also replaced the connector unit.
Ampere also says that the battery is in good condition.
I also measured the battery voltage using a multimeter directly on the terminals of the two cells. Both cells had around 4.2V when the tablet stopped charging and showed a batterylevel of ~45%.
Is there anything I can do to get 100% and a higher charge current. Because now even if I plug the tablet into the charger the battery keeps draining while using it.

This is probably not what you're going to want to hear, but I faced the exact same issue and decided to power cycle the battery (drain it fully, charge it up to 100%). I got to the drain fully part and then it wouldn't charge anymore. I had tried the same thing as you with multiple cords and tried charging from a couple of different power banks as well.
My advice if you love your device like I do...buy another battery and keep it plugged in until you can swap it out with a new one. Once it hit 1% it was gone for good. This happens to me every 1-2 years...I've changed the battery in mine 3 times. Personally I think it's the OEM replacement batteries that are garbage. Next time I'm going to buy the newpower99 one and see if it lasts longer.
TLDR: keep it plugged in, buy a new battery, replace ASAP.
If you do get it working though I would love to hear your solution in case it happens again!
Well I did find a "solution".
It seems that the power management is quite bad on the Samsung devices, which means it has to be reseted from time to time. I could fix it partially by disconnecting the battery for ~10 Minutes and reconnecting it.
Now I got 75-80% charge and a reasonably charge current. But now the low voltage detection seems to be a bit off. At ~25% the screens stars flickering and it turns off after a short time.
I found this hint in the comments of a YouTube video about replacing the battery or charging connector.

I will definitely try that out thank you! Mine does that at around 10% and there are times the battery will say it's at 30% then drop to <5% in a few minutes. I just leave it on the charger over night now which I know isn't the best for battery life but at least it keeps it on when I use it
cheers
Battery management is voltage based. The Android Coulometer mainly has to filter short voltage drops caused by high cpu load.
If the Coulometer begins to show sudden changes in capacity and causes premature shutdowns, you can flash the coulometer firmware, if you're running stock rom. Reinstalling stock rom in Download Mode should also help.
There are only few sources on the net dealing with this coulometer thing and only for certain devices.
But if you do nothing, the capacity jumps will fade away with time. It took months on an old tablet of mine, but the period of time may depend on the time since the last full factory reset or system recovery. And my (and your) Note are older today than this tablet back then...
Then there's always real cable and battery isdues.
This post can also help other phone models.
I had very slow charging issue in my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 SD. It use to take 5-6 hours for charging from 20% to 90%. My phone is almost 3 years old as of Dec 7, 2019 with same original battery. Now read how I fixed it. First turn off the phone and clean the usb port/charging port of phone by dipping toothbrush in petrol. After 1 hour, turn the phone on. This makes sure that usb/charging port and internal parts and dried. Now install ‘Ampere’ app. Then install ‘No screen off’ by Etienne de Closmadeuc. Run No Screen off app to avoid screen off during Ampere testing. Now get all your mobile chargers and USB cables and use odd combinations and connect the phone and run Ampere for 10 min. In Ampere app, you’ll see the reading in center which fluctuates and that reading should reach to 1000-1500ma in 10 min. If this is happening then the charger and USB are best to charge this phone. If not then, buy this original Mi adapter ‘’Mi India Standard Charger 5V 2A’’ and USB Cable ‘’Anker Powerline A8133021 Micro USB Charging Cable - 6 Feet (1.8 Meters) - (White)’’ below are the links to products and I’m not a sponsored but an experimenter:

https://www.amazon.in/Anker-Powerline-A8133021-Micro-Charging/dp/B012VZT5IO/
A new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 phone with original cable and adapter takes 2-2.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%. A very healthy battery tip is that you neither charge it to 100% nor you drain it to 0% . Use app Battery Charge Notifier by Utopi and set the High battery level to 80% or 90% and Low Battery Level to 20%. I’m doing this and still my battery is healthy its been 3 years almost. All I mentioned is what I did and I shared this so that it can help you. If by doing all this still charging slow problem then it’s a hardware problem you need to replace the charging board.
