I received the e-mail yesterday that I was confirmed and approved for the Samsung Gear VR promotion and that it should ship around April 1st 2016. FedEx just dropped off the package to me here at home and I am pleasantly surprised that it came over a week early..definitely wasn't expecting it today..Glad I worked from home today...Be on the lookout out if you are expecting the VR Promotion guys!!

Mine arrived too. I listed it for sale right away before the market is flooded.
My Oculus Rift CV1 arrives next week and HTC Vive perhaps a week after that
The GearVR is gimmicky at best, nothing compared to the full-blown VR experience because it doesn't have positional tracking. When you lean in closer to objects, nothing happens. The FOV also is too narrow so you see black bars at the edge of your screen. The 360 videos are a blurry mess. I had a GearVR last year and sold it after using it once (I already had an Oculus DK2 for a full year before trying that).
Oculus Home is very slick though, but it'll be on the Rift CV1 as well.
If you try your GearVR and are disappointed, just remember that the full-blown PC version is at least twice as more immersive. I think mobile VR will catch up within a few years.
I received the email from Samsung yesterday that my order was placed to delivery on 04/01 and today I got the track number from FedEx and should get it tomorrow..

3/4/16..just a few days after I received my preorder
I got the approval of claim confirmation on Tuesday (Mar 22)
But up to now, I haven't receive it yet.
No matter how many times i submit a receipt they say it's not enough to verify purchase. I gave up on it
I bought a SM-935F off eBay and submitted for the free Gear VR. The appeal will probably be rejected but no loss in trying I guess.
I got mine today but the game bundle is nowhere to be found. I checked under library not installed and that section doesn't exist.

I sold mine half price. Tried it 3 times and I got sooo motion sickness. I was about to trow up like 2 hrs after each use.
I had the same problem with oculus rift dev kit.
Need much higher refreshrate for VR to be of any use for ppl like me.

I ordered a s7 edge through verizon but I have an issue with the delivery date. They are saying they should hit the stores March 11, but I will be in Texas for my Sister in laws wedding from March 9th until the 12th. So the issue is should I keep my delivery for my home in Colorado or have it sent to Texas.
Do the preorders usually go out early? I would think it would only be fair if people who pre-ordered to get it before people can get it at the stores.
Well for T-Mobile USA they sent the S6 a week early for some users. Verizon tends to be on the dot maybe a day early in most cases.
Anyone know how BestBuy handles pre-orders for online shipping?
IIRC, I pre-ordered the s6 edge last year from Verizon (online) and it came 1 day before the release date.

I think you receive a VR gear based off of what number you are in the pre order list, not whenever you happened to get your phone. If you get yours late, you might miss your shot. But the way they are advertising it makes it seem like nearly everyone will get one. I hope that is the case.

I'm sure there will be a lot of cancellations if this is the case.
My AT&T preorder says shipping on the 7th to arrive on the 8th. Many sites are reporting preorders will be out 3 days early from the official launch on the 11th.
I just talked to 2 verizon reps and the first one said the phone should arrive on the 11th, and the other checked with her manager and said it would ship out on the eleventh and not arrive until the 14th. To me it makes no sense that the people who preordered will get there phone 2 days after the phone comes out in the store.
I am not throwing any fits because it is unfair, but this is a issue for me because I don't know where to have the phone shipped. And like my earlier post said, it seems that they are only giving out around 300,000 VR Gears, so if I am a couple days late getting it, I may lose my chance at getting the VR gear. ?

I pre-ordered from Best Buy so they will ship the VR with the phone. Also getting a free 64gb SD card.
My S6 edge was delivered on March 30th (T-Mobile), and (I think) the release date was somewhere around April 10th. So, don't be too surprised if you get a shipped confirmation email in the next week or so.
Also plan on getting mine through BestBuy. Seems like less of a hassle than waiting "4-6" weeks for the GearVR to come in.
That does sound nice, but I didn't really want to fork out 300 and be stuck in a contract. I might contact samsung and verizon and try to get some assurance that there will be enough to go around. Otherwise, I might cancel and hold out to see what the V10 sequel has in store.

That link actually proves that you need the IMEI and WiFi address.
First, they mention in the text on that page that you need to fill out the form and submit a receipt. That doesn't say what info is required for the form so it does not suffice as a counter-example, nor any evidence that the receipt is the only information you need.
Secondly, that page provides a link to the actual terms and clicking through you can see that the section on submitting the claim explicitly lists the IMEI number (3.b.iii) and the WiFi MAC address (3.b.iv) in addition to the receipt.
So, IMEI and WiFI MAC are certainly required to claim the Gear VR...

Same! i feel like very few people go in a store just to preorder, ya know? If you're preordering a smartphone, you most likely have internet access, ergo, not getting a paper receipt
Yes they allow screenshots of the receipts. I did that last time with the Note 5 for the free Netflix.

This. I just ordered two S7 Edges to get one half off and when I added the Gear VR it zeroed out. Only thought it would work for one VR but I decided to add another and still $0. It wasn't til I added the 3rd VR that the price went up.

I received my phone and have to wait till the 4th. The Samsung offer website only allows me to input my email to be notified when it's up I guess.
Looks like I will be out of town the week the vr form is open and when the phone comes in from att. Do I need the phone or can I use the emailed receipt? If I need the phone will they keep allowing the orders to come in for the free vr till the end date since I will be out of town?

Just got my S7 Edge today and had the same experience trying to claim the perks. Nice to find this thread and that I am not alone in trying to figure this out.
Its always better to buy in a shop , mainly because you get to see the phone in real life , plus if there is something wrong with the phone you swap it on the spot , also shops have coupons to claim the free vr as well

Well if t-mobile gave us our pre-order phones in store 2 weeks before the official release date that would be great but we all know that's not happening.

I attached my purchase confirmation email from T-Mobile. It has all of the information they should need, hopefully that works.
I just submitted as well. I printed my payment processing email from T-Mobile to a PDF file as my receipt and listed the date that they charged me as the date of purchase (transaction date as listed in the email) - it wasn't clear if they wanted the order date or the date that the purchase was actually processed so I went with the latter. Hopefully they spot both dates when they go to match it up.
I just completed my claim form as well.
I know someone is going to ask so you need 4 things to process the claim:
-Date of Purchase
-IMEI (In Settings>About Phone)
-Wi-Fi MAC ADDRESS (In Settings>About Phone)
-Photo of your Receipt (I sent a PDF of a email I got from t-mobile that says "Here's your Receipt" which includes the information they request on the receipt being, Qualifying Purchase or Lease, Date of Purchase or Lease within the purchase period, and the Name on the Receipt must match the name on the offer claim form.)

I got my phone last night but am most excited for the Gear VR. It is on back order though so it didn't come. Has anyone else received theirs? If so how is it?
I ordered my phone on 2/23, but have not seen it yet. I did, however, receive the Gear VR on 2/24. That was some of the fastest shipping I have ever seen.
My wife has the S6 so we are able to use the VR with that until my phone arrives. I personally haven't put a lot of time in with it, but what I've done with it I really enjoy. The 360 degree videos are pretty amazing. The unit is able to smoothly track the smallest head movement. I haven't really installed games to try because I don't want to eat up all of the space on her phone. No expandable storage on the S6 you know.
Oh, her phone overheats in the VR pretty quickly when watching a 360 video. I'm hoping that the cooling on the S7 is able to handle it, and give some extra time before getting too hot.
I have it for GS6 Edge+ and it's amazing, will certainly blow your mind. Don't expect hd resolutions on videos in the gear vr, we will have to wait for 4k screens for that. There is a great community for the GearVR in Reddit you can go there for great finds, tips, etc.
I am digging the gear vr. Going to take a bit of getting used to.
I got mine with my Verizon s7. I have a Asus zenwatch already. To be honest me and my fiance are completely blown away. I hadn't used vr in modern times. Really is amazing and I can't wait to get it hooked up with Nvidia shield and playing elite dangerous my favorite part game

I got mine Monday at best buy with my phone. Didn't get time to play with it until last night. I have to say, I was extremely impressed and surprised at how cool it is and how well it works. The wife and I had a lot of fun with it last night doing different pictures and videos.
My S7 did get pretty warm but never shut down and everything was smooth and seemed to work well. I might have to get a game to try. If nothing else it will be a cool party toy for the next year lol.
I messed with it a little last night, pretty neat. Then I heard a knock on the door, ups delivered a 2nd VR! So I ended up with 2, all I can figure is that I contacted sprint because I had no order # for the VR and asked them if it was actually placed, and it was. Not sure why I got 2,but I won't complain, lol.

Did I miss something? I have my pre-ordered S7 Edge and my Gear VR. I'm not seeing the 6 game pack. I tried on of the titles on the above list, but it wants me to purchase it. Other than registering when you first use the VR, I haven't done anything special.
So now that people are starting to receive their phones, I figured it might be good to keep track of where the free Galaxy VR promo is for people. I took a picture of the order form and submitted mine today. According to Samsung it will take 4-6 weeks to validate.
Hopefully it ends up being sooner than that, but who knows. Post up here when you submit, if you get any issues and ultimately when you get your VR and what you think of it.

I received a email from Samsung telling me that the retailer was cutoff on my submitted receipt. Apparently the square preview of the uploaded wasn't just a preview and actually cropped any parts that didn't fit into it.
I re uploaded a new image after trying to get everything visible in a square crop and its still under review....

Checked mine this morning and it now says "Fulfillment pending"

I am hoping that this mean's we will start to see them shipping soon, especially as Minecraft was just announced as one of the games that will be available. I don't play Minecraft, but will be curious to give it a shot.

I'm actually very unhappy about that announcement. It means that my kids are going to be stealing my phone often.

The S7 was announced on my birthday and I watched the live streaming of the unboxing that same day. I was so excited thinking the phone was shipping with the VR.

go to the samsung appstore ("galaxy apps"), switch to the tab "galaxy-apps" and somewhere down there's an image with "galaxy game pack" - "see more". i see 42 games with different exclusive stuff, such as ingame money or other stuff. if it matters, i have the international exynos version.
Checked my vr library today and there were 6 apps/games there waiting to be downloaded that weren't there last night. Don't remember the names.
