My S7 Edge was delivered on the 7th, no problems until today when I noticed in the bottom left corner there seems to a be a dead/stuck pixel, most notable on white screens. This happens on all apps, and even in download mode so I assume it is a problem with the actual screen. Looking around, it seems that at least one person has had a similar problem on YouTube.
Would it be recommended to exchange the phone?

I would return it for a replacement.
You can try stuck pixel fixing apps like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.chris.blackspotdetect&hl=en
They will rotate through all the colors on max brightness in an attempt to kickstart the pixel into working.
Sometimes they actually do work, sometimes........
i would return the phone if i were you
Yep - RMA case, this issue falls under warranty
It looks more like a bit of glue/sealant that has been squeezed out under the glass.
That's not a dead pixel. There is something under the screen, or possibly a tiny crack at the very bottom.
I would definately exchange that.
Thanks for the replies - I'll be seeing if Carphone Warehouse is willing to issue a replacement.

Yes I did, returned to Carphone Warehouse after they did some 'diagnostics' on it - basically same thing as those dead pixel testers on the play store.
Uggg, I have a stuck pixel too...I was just gonna ignore it, but its starting to really bug me

I think you'll be able to exchange under warranty even after - I believe the 14 day period usually applies if you are just unhappy with the device in general
Requested a return this afternoon, accepted, and a return shipping label was sent an hour later... so far so smooth from 232tech
Told them to send me whatever color they have in stock

I called the store again and they said they will extend my exchange/return period to 30 days but after that I have to send it for repair which means 2 weeks without a phone.
I have the same issue with my s7 edge. Pixel stuck on green.

Mine looks exactly like yours. Mine is 3 of them like that. It's where the time and battery is displayed, at first i thought it was cut out for sensors. But after looking at other s7 edges no one else's was like mine. I'm going to exchange it. It bothers me a little. I thought about not exchanging it cause of having to set my phone up again. If it was just 1 little one I'd just deal but it's 3 of them. I tried the dead pixel apps, but now I'm reading it's not dead pixels it's something else.

Just a few hours ago i was ready to buy a 7.7. I went to this supplier i have been getting phones from for the longest time. Tried out 3 units, all had dead pixels. Then went to the mall. Tried the samsung shop and 2 units had dead pixels. Got frustrated and bought a 7.0 plus instead. What a let down. :-( Samsung's quality control is really poor. :-(
I really wanted the 7.7 but I couldn't bring myself to buy a defective unit. For such an expensive device I expect the very best.
Anyway I guess any new buyers should always use the screen test. We shouldn't let Samsung get away with letting subpar units out of the factory.
I guess I'll just stick with this till they iron out whatever qc problems they have.

Can you tell how to do the test that you performed on all these in store units??
Id like to do the same test that you checked out those units with.
Thanks for replying with instructions on HOW TO do your test..

I think you are the unlucky one.
I never see a phone with dead pixel for a long long time.
I think I tested more than 7 units of tab 7.7 (mine + friends' + other people's when they buying) and all have no screen issue at all.
I'm a dead/bright pixel freak too, screen is the first think I test on any new units. ^^
You may try to look for 7.7 again, I'm certain you'll fine a good one ^^

It surely objective, looking for a dead pixel is very easy and clear cut. If there is one, there is. If there is none there is none.
The first batch selling here (Thailand) made in Vietnam.

You need to look by yourself.
Main colors are Red Green and Blue.
You can simply display white and if there is no pixel with strange color(non white) then you should be fine.
Or you can display main colors one by one and see if there is any black pixel.
Could this be a problem of where you're buying from? Are these sellers unboxing new units for you to examine or is the LCD test revealing dead pixels on display models (which are subjected to levels of abuse and non-maintenance that would screw up devices from any manufacturer)?
It seems a new model from a reputable dealer (with a clear return policy concerning issues such as dead pixels) would be a safe route to getting the machine you want. Calling Samsung out as being negligent on QC protocol seems unfair based on a single dealer and problems at the mall.

Possibly your middle name is B for bad luck and still ended up getting a samsung lol.
I read all of the screen issues on here and was dreading getting a faulty unit with screen defects but luckily mine is flawless (so far!) have been using honeybar to hide the bar to avoid burn in but so far all clear (fingers crossed!) got mine from panamoz - non 3g version - delighted so far

One dead pixel is not tolerable anywhere in the world, so you should be entitled to get a replacement, but I am not sure about the customer right in Philippines.
Anyway 7+ is not that bad at all. In retrospective I would have bought a 7+ if not for the decent weight and shape of 7.7.
However, I do agree with you that Samsung should improve their QC. I have to live with the compass miscalibration problem because I can't not part with my 7.7 for repairment.

Im gonna say it again, samsung ph will accept warranty claims on a single dead pixel on their highend devices. I've been there and I've done it, lots of friends and other forumers over at TCP has done with with the Samsung Wave and Galaxy S2.
For HDTV's its case to case basis, 1 dead pixel smack at the middle is an automatic replacement, deadpixels on the sides require about 3 but Im sure they will it with out issues in recently purchased devices, it can be considered as DoA.

This is now my 3rd replacement which is due tomorrow, the first had charging issues, the second crashing apps and charging issues, the third after about 7 days use this horrible bright white line just appeared on the screen out of nowhere today, i'm now expecting my fourth replacement tomorrow, i'm about to give up on the XL if this next one isn't right, I've never had to send a new phone back at all, here's some examples.

I'll be honest mate I've never had to rma a single phone I've purchased over the last 10 years + this is a first, I've been unlucky it seems, although it also seems I'm not alone.
Just to update on this I watched this video https://youtu.be/upLTjUzrRxw a similar issue to him excep he didn't have the line until he pressed a certain part of the screen, I've now been able to remove the line by pressing a certain part of the screen near the bottom near the home button, it has now vanished, i can get it to reappear briefly by pressing the screen again in a certain area, but now it's off, I've told Google if it arrives back to them like this don't think there is nothing wrong with it, there must be some short or damaged connection behind the screen somewhere, I'm still keeping the new one which arrives today.
Facing the same issue
Even I had this experience. But in my case the bright white line was on the left of the phone. I'll let you know that my phone's screen has been cracked since the last 9 months and it had been working perfectly fine until one afternoon when I kept it in my bag and it had the thick line on it. I cannot diagnose if it's a software or hardware issue. I'm going for a screen replacement. But in the meantime can anyone help me to know if it is a software or hardware issue?

My replacement which I've had for nearly a year now is perfect and defect free, whites are white like they should be and no hardware defects, I'm sorry to say it sounds like a hardware issue, if you can firmly press all parts if the screen and sometimes it disappears it's a connection issue but it's very difficult to pin point where the exact loose connection is, if your getting a new and digitizer that may remove the issue.
I can press all parts of the screen perfectly..even where the line is located. Thats what made me think that it is a software bug. Also the line is far brighter than even the highest brightness settings on the phone. I'll have it replaced and I will respond here soon

Yes that's how mine was the line was extremely bright like that pixel line was on full brightness, no problem, loving the pixel 2 xl my best phone so far, will upgrade to the 4 xl if they get rid of that fugly notch on the 3 xl, Good luck with your screen mate.
I've purchased this phone recently and there is something that bothers me. There are horizontal faint black lines across the screen. Is this the software problem or hardware ? Is there anyone facing the same issue ?

Its a hardware issue. I had exactly the same problem and got a replacement of LCD from Asus Service Centre.
I guess it is, thank you for the solution will try to go to the service centre

Service center? They will take ages.
If you just bought this mobile within this 10days then go to your Flipkart account and request a replacement soon. Flipkart has 10 days return policy.

I didn't buy this from an online store because it's really hard to get this phone from flash sale, and after 5th flash sale I gave up and buy this from offline store. Does the service centre takes long time to fix this phone ? I don't mind if it takes 2-3 days

You bought it from offline store and this is what you get then. Defective piece. The only genuine sale for this mobile is via flipkart which Asus has tied up with.
All the best running around the service center management.

Well I can't totally blame the offline store for its product. When I check the phone box there are this official online store label (which is in my country is Lazada, the only official store that sells this phone) probably there are some damage when it on delivery. Yeah, I guess my best option is the service centre
same issue with me
how much time did the asus service centre take

Those lines are due to build up of static charge...so they disappear when charge fades away...
Do you live in very humid climate ?
Maybe a new display will help
Thought id create a seperate thread for those who have/ are awaiting a return.
Im waiting for a swap through Amazon due to overheating temp issues as outlined here:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...ad-oneplus-8-pro.1215356/page-3#post-21534037
Amazon currently out of stock, will keep an eye, for those always in same situation we can let each other know when its back in stock.
This is my first OP devie coming from about 10 years of Samsung, HTC and LG , if my replacement has screen or heating issues then sadly the OP experiment will be over.
I'm still waiting for Amazon to get stock for a replacement if it goes past this week though I may just send back for a refund.

Worst case scenario is to just refund though them and purcha through OP when in stock, but i imagine both will come in stock at same time.
I wont buy a 3rd one though, so if my replacement has issues ill go back to my S8 (luckily hadnt sold)
I only used my Oneplus8Pro for about 12 hours then put it back in box. Dont want to risk damaging it before sending back etc.

I'm considering buying another phone on Amazon just to compare it to my OP one I have and I'll send back the worst.

I've just got off chat with Amazon after my Black 128gb oneplus 8 pro was showing similar screen issue's at night like others have mentioned. The whole green and red/pink when changing brightness up and down, the black bar across top from front camra and this weird black blur on edges of phone when on lowest brightness and pulling down notification bar. I even noticed some image retention were the slider for brightness would be lol anyways the replacement is getting sent tomorrow via hermes and they will be collecting old one too at some point. I just hope the replacement has no issue's. Really wanted to like this phone but if 2nd is the same then will return for a refund and either look elsewhere or just wait until Oneplus actually sort the issue's out.

Yh i just hope my replacement is a good one as i really liked the phone and was gutted when had screen issue's. The scary thing is it's not just screen problems people are having, quite a few other threads regarding overheating, battery etc. Fingers crossed it'll have no problems otherwise will have to stick with my trusty 7 edge for a little while longer lol

what item are you referring to?

I would not be able to guarantee when exactly the item is going to be in stock, you can keep the item in your basket so you can check on it to see if it´s in stock
J22:54
Do you not have any idea?
I will need a refund if you will not replace
22:55
Jadeja | Customer Service
not saying we will not refund, I just cannot guarantee to you when the item will become available. I don´t want to speculate a date with you, you check and it´s not available at that time
J22:57
So there is no way of knowing or finding out if you will ever stock it again?

That's all I have had from them today aswell
When any of you receive your replacements could you please comment if you notice any issues (particularly regarding the screen) and if so / not, when was the manufacture date is?
Wishing you all an easy returns process, I'll likely be attempting this shortly - I find it increasingly hard to see how an OTA will solve the screen issues.
