As title... I came from an HTC One M8, that got root 1 sec later I got it out from the box lol.
2 years with rom, flashes, kernels, xposed and and lot of other things.
Well S7 Edge it's a fantastic phone, but without root I feel "empty", I feel something it's wrong with my device lol.
Help me guys, should I root and make my soul happy, but lose warranty, or wait and keep the phone in warranty?
It's the first time I have such a problem, I totally hate this damn knox, but completely love this phone... Help me lol.

I myself am fighting for the urge to root. This is my first time not rooting a phone out of the box. I'm trying to keep in mind that the SGS7E is a fragile device so might be a good idea to maximize warranty for as long as you can resist the urge to root.

Yeah but I will lose warranty...
And I never noticed it, I'll do some test later
I still don't know what to do lol.. I hate myself )
Funny question, I actually have a personal custom rom baked and ready but my S7E is still a virgin lol
I know I'm able to turn a nice device into a killer device but something is holding me back. Since I'm from the Netherlands I don't even have to fear loosing warranty but still I didn't go for root and custom rom world.
Good luck deciding what to do as I can imagine the pain you're in.

Why not spend a little time reading posts about loosing warranty
due to being rooted here in xda and then make up your mind.
Please let me know if you find any posts by anyone here in any of the xda forums and threads that says:
"I could not return or exchange my defective phone because it was rooted and is no longer under warranty".
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Root it and have fun .
otherwise that itch will never go .
it's your phone , you bought it, do with it whatever you want (unless you tend to break stuff ,and care for warranty-even though many carriers don't check for this KNOX thing anyway )
Depends. If you don't need Knox and don't use Samsung Pay, then go ahead and root.
I can understand your worries.
At first I was not too sure if I should root it or not... but I could no longer resist after 5 hours without root ^^
Root it and be happy

Time to root guys. I'll soon do it. I'm just choosing which rom flash lol

I do.
I thought it was normal on Samsung devices not being able to show all colors correctly.
Is this a known issue that needs to be fixed?

I used to love rooting and customising my phones. I have an S7 edge and haven't done anything to it apart from change the launcher. So far I haven't needed to do anything else. Part of why I don't want to root is for apps that don't work such as my bank app. I'm not sure if I'll ever root this phone. It might depend how long I keep it for.
Phone without root?
Impossible. No flashing, no low level apps... Took me 30 minutes to root my phone after getting home from the shop. I wouldn't bother using a phone which is not rooted.
Knox/Samsung pay? Not a problem.
Adaway, viper mod, are just 2 reasons for root, made it a month with no root, like it way better now... But that's me.

Hey guys so i switched from the Note 7 to the s7 edge... didnt want to take the risk of my phone "blowing up"
sooo ive been looking on how to root and roms for the s7 edge. Ive been searching and found alot of ways however
i am not sure which way would be the better way without tripping knox... my last samsung phone was the s3. Could someone help me out with this? I looked but there are so many methods i would like to know the best one and to keep my phone stock basically just wanting to add a ad blocker and remove all bloat. I currently have:
SM- G935V
Android 6.0.1
Baseband... G935VVRU2APG5

The only root method for the S7 and S7 Edge is to flash the leaked engineering kernel. Follow this guide and you will be fine. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/verizon-root-knox-t3410624
Don't root your s7 edge my first Android phone when I don't feel like rooting and have everything on such as sync Google now and stuff. Amazing standby time with aod and 6+ sot

I did a reset, seems to have made it worse. My standby time is terrible and just usage in general. I bought it from swappa so unable to do that haha. It worked fine for the first couple months I've had it.

Don't turn off anything after resetting only change location to power saving and go to "improve accurasy " turn off wifi and Bluetooth scanning. That's about it
Hi everyone,
AT&T has just released Nougat onto their Samsung Galaxy s7 and s7 edge phones. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there was a root available for this phone (Samsung SM-G935A) on nougat.
Thank you.
Quick answer: NO
- Bootloader still locked
- Leaked Engineer Kernel not working for Nougat
- Exploit not discovered yet
Fantastic
That's the reply I thought that I would get. I wonder how long it's going to be before anyone creates a root.

That's not a good thing to hear. Well, I guess all that we can do is hope at thus point.
Yeah, that sucks. So does this phone. I can't believe I bought a phone made of all glass, that gets so hot it cracks so easily.
Even bought an expensive case for it. But doesn't matter, cause when it's cold out (Michigan winters), there is no stopping it.

I agree its not good to hear, since the release of the S8 is about a month off, this device will be forgotten as the others have once the " next best thing" comes out. Ive been on here since the windows mobile days, and ive noticed this trend since android started to take a foothold, once a new device comes out the older ones are neglected and fall into silent obscurity.

Ya as above stated the kernel doesn't work gets stuck in a boot loop, its the same kernel from marshmallow tried a few times its freaking dumb. I regret buying this phone I mean the locked boot loader is b.s. period had I known that there was no way to unlock it I would of waited for the one plus 3t
so yeah i got my s8 today i'm willing to be a tester for custom rom i want to root mine now so any dev hit me up please

If you root, S health (spo2, heart rate meter), secure storage and probably more things stop working for forever if you trip knox. Be very carful friend. Sad days will be ahead if your too brash.

It doesn't work that easily...
Someone has to discover an exploit or they crack the bootloader. The way you're talking about, cracking the bootloader and loading a custom rooted ROM through recovery, on North American Galaxy devices might as well be a pipe dream. And finding an exploit and rooting the stock ROM usually takes months or years. Every release of Android (especially Samsung versions) makes it harder to exploit.
Someone could get lucky but extremely unlikely.

Good for you, once it's gone, it's gone. No turning back, plus your resale value is worthless too.
Not every one wants that result after rooting it. Your life but I warn for those people who are not aware of what's at stake.
Bah- nothing is at stake. Name 1 warranty claim that was denied because of root. ONE. I've been on these boards since Android 1.x. I have yet to see anyone denied a warranty claim because their phone was rooted.
Dropped, water damage, stolen, etc. - sure. But not due to software. Stop the FUD.

Ditto, legally in the US they can't deny warranty claims for hardware UNLESS they can prove the software modifications led to the hardware failure (good luck with that) and the only thing I could think of that could potentially damage hardware is overclocking.
That being said there are several reports of warranties being denied when the knox counter is flipped but at the same time there are others that have had warranty repair done with no problems.

As for root on the s8, every year it seems to get harder and harder to root these phones but I would imagine as popular as Samsung is you'll probably get root within months.
I myself won't buy one until I can root it Samsung is the HP of smartphones, tons of garbage software preloaded.

Sorry mate, does not work like that. It will trip the KNOX fues and when you flash stock back, it still knows it was rooted.
I have my S6 Edge 128GB flashed with network stock firmware from Sam Mobile firmware repo and I can not use the S Health app because it says that the device has had its security compromised, even though it is now running a vanilla samsung firmware with no root.
Don't be so quick to think you know it all friend. If your so sure, I dare you to root it and then restore a stock firmware and try open a KNOX app, Shealth included and watch as it ***** slaps you for doing that. Bye Bye SPO2 meter, Hearth rate meter, secure folder and all the other stuff that can be of use.

I have a sprint s7 sm-g930p and accidentally upgraded to the ra1 firmware recently despite my planning to root soon. I've been searching all over the internet the past few days but there seems to be a lot of conflicting info on weather you can root ra1 or if there's some way to roll back to a previous firmware without sacrificing my texting / phone calls. Has aanyone personally successfully done it or is it all hearsay? What are my options if any?
