I don't recall making any update, still using 5.1.1 stock. The device starts and stops charging at random times. Sometimes rebooting it fixes the problem, sometimes it doesn't.
Probably not hardware related as other people in the forum seems to be having the same problem. Also, when I connect the cable the battery icon changes to "charging", but in battery status it is displayed "not charging".
Wondering if anyone here found a fix or at least knows what's happening, I'd prefer it over sending the phone to motorola.
Thanks!

Did you figure this out? I've been getting the same thing on 6.0.1.
Have the same problem. Battery status "Not charging" and it is indeed not charging anymore.
Done factory reset. Did not help.
Noticed that it is sometimes possible to charge the phone in "factory mode" from the recovery menu.
Not really a solution.
Using stock ROM. Bootloader locked. Official.

I've been working on my friends 8125. First the original battery died and he couldn't charge it with the phone, so I performed the "jump start" trick with the 9v battery. That resolved the issue, but then he let it die again, and he jump start trick didn't work. SO the diagnosis was to replace the battery...
Well now that I have a new battery that works, the phone has somehow gotten stuck in "Charge Mode" and the moment I insert the battery it starts to overheat. This occurs before even turning the phone on. Once turned on the battery indicator shows that it is charging, even though its not plugged in.
I'm wondering if this is due to a hardware problem with the mini-USB port or something.
I searched the forums, but didn't find anything close to this issue so any idea will be much appreciated.
I'd say
that it was the battery. Try another one.
Overheating Issue
Being that it was already tested with a new battery and still didnt work, I would try to go into bootloader and reflash with original att or tmobile rom for the 8125.
I have the same problem, I've already re flashed the original ROM but still have the problem, any suggestions?
Hi there guys, I have recently bought an HTC Titan from Alltel (the black one) and noticed that it says the warning message "Main Battery Very Low" even if its at 100% of its capacity (verified this with another titan) I thought that it was a software issue, so I didnt worried about it.
Sadly I have already build and cooked my rom, updated everything and it works great, but I receive the same error, main battery very low, also if I connect the usb cable or the wall charger it doesnt shows the charging state, I mean, it says that its charging but if you open the battery metter instead of showing the increasing and decreasing percentage bar it just says at "0%" and thats all.
Also I have already verified if the phone charges the battery and everything... it does, the phone charges the battery and everything works normally, it just dont stops giving the message, and it also turns the phone off eventually.
Any suggestions? hardware issue? whats going on? =/.
Thanks in advance.
have you tried a hard reset?
try finding someone with a titan and switch out the batteries for a minute or two and see if you get the same worning with a different battery.
When I first got my nexus 7 it said that it was "charging" when I plugged it in. A few hours later I updated the software, and it always says that the battery is "not charging". However, if I press the refresh button on the battery status page in settings, the charge percentage still goes up slowly. Is anyone else having this problem? I can't figure out how to fix it. I'm worried that the battery might keep trying to charge even after it hits 100% capacity, since it thinks that it is "not charging".
N7 displays battery not charging, though it is.

I ran into this problem myself where it displays it's not charging under the battery settings and there is no charge icon in the battery icon in the upper right corner. However it is charging. Anyone know of a fix?
Running 4.1.1
Thanks in advance.
Spoke with Google Customer support today, and they aren't aware of this issue. Think it's an issue with the battery sensor. They are sending me a replacement device.
Le sigh.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll try calling Google tomorrow. Do you need to send your device back first? Or will they send a replacement unit to you first?

I'm having the same problem. Any news on this?
I'm having the exact same issue.
It's weird, because when the tablet is off, then it shows the big charging logo when short-pressing the lock/unlock button.
But still the battery loads OK !
When connecting the charger, loading status of the battery is "disconnected"...
For me the problem persisted for a few weeks then it randomly disappeared, I think after one of the reboots. I first noticed that it resumed working after I charged the Nexus when it was switched off and the big battery sign came on.
Either way, it's probably a software problem so I just ignored it while it was going on...
Its a known software bug. Especially with car chargers. Just check batt level before plugging in then again in a few minutes. You will see its charging regardless of charge indicator.

Is the bug supposed to happen even with the original charger ?
Hello!
I just updated to 4.3 and my phone (on 72% battery) got stuck in a sort of boot loop where the buttons flickered during the Samsung logo (when there's a tiny vibration) and then the phone rebooted. Got to Recovery though so tried to wipe cache, no effect. Then thought it might be battery related, hence the flickering lights, and hooked it up to the charger. 5 minutes later it booted up fine.
Even after charging however the phone won't boot up always, it sometimes reboots halfway during the Samsung Logo or sometimes at the Sim Unlock screen, even with 52% battery when I have powered the phone down and then boot it back up. Anybody also has experienced this? When I connect it to the charger it boots up fine. It doesn't power down when on or when off the charger so far.
Another thing happened after the rfirst boot: Gave a message though at the start screen "Firmware could not be applied/updated" or something like that. Clicked it away to check the firmware version, it is actually 4.3! All the touchwiz design changes etc are there and Software Update didn't find any new updates as well. So...any of you recognize this message? All seems to work fine except the booting, just curious
Anyway take notice that this update is quite the battery drain!
Thanks!
Give it a factory reset my friend. Also check your battery for deformation (swelling) and the serial number. batteries with BD serial numbers are likely to fail

Thanks for the reply, that will be my last resort! I'll first wait if the problems occur again, then will check battery, if that's fine I'll reflash the ROM through ODIN, if that doesn't help I'll do a factory reset. Hate factory resets
Anyway the phone is working fine for the rest so, it's a weird issue

Checked my battery after the phone shut down at 30% by itself. It was a bit swollen, so I will pick up a new one at a service centre tomorrow. Then hopefully it will be fine again! I'll reflash 4.3 just to be sure and to check if the battery can take it this time, also to check if I get the same 'Firmware update could not be applied' message. And then it'll be fine!
I have been having this issue since I bought the phone but never bothered to do anything about it since at first it didn't annoy me that much. The issue is that whenever I set the phone to charge even though it says "Quick charging" on the lock screen it charges extremely slowly but once I reboot the phone it is all of a sudden quickcharged.
For example:
I set the phone to charge at 25%.
30 minutes later it shows its only charged to 35%.
I reboot the phone and now it shows 80%(which is the correct percentage).
This happens no matter what, even if I factory reset, restore from ZTE's provided images, or flash a different ROM. I know its not an issue with the charger and cable since the same thing happens with other quickchargers. At this point I'm pretty sure its a battery issue since it happens no matter what but before I RMA it I want to see if there's anything I overlooked. Are there any other possible reasons why this is happening and if so, how do I fix it?
Hardware defect. Get ahold of ZTE. I had to do an RMA issue for the exact same issue.

Such a shame. This was my only issue with the phone and now I have to wait 10 days to get a new one
