I think that the configurable physical button is a nice feature on Honor 7. you can launch any app you want.
At another hand there is a strange thing in Android : most of the time, you cannot close an application directly. You have to switch screen and then drop the icon's app out. Not very fast nor that practical in everyday's life ...
So my idea is to find and app killer that would instantly exit or kill the displayed app when i press on the button.
What do you think about this idea ?
Do you think that such app exists ?
Thanks.
Hi, I tried the app Hold back to kill app, but it did not work, and I have found no way to do it.
Some brands have the opportunity right in the menu settings.
Any news about that ?
Nope
What about developer options - > don't keep activities? That should kill every app you exit.
the question is how to exit quickly. Most of the time there are no exit buttons in the apps.
But.. You just have to press the home button?
Wysłane z mojego PLK-L01 przy użyciu Tapatalka
sure but then the app remains open, consumes RAM and battery.
Use Greenify and configure it so be launched if you hold the homebutton.
Instead of google you can lock your screen und kill all unused apps with one touch

Any other details please ? i'm interested.
Yoda V4D Rom contains Xposed.
Then you need to download the module Gravity Box and settings buttons set long press back to kill the app :good:

Unfortunately, till now i couldn't configure Greenify. It says i have to disable secure-keyguard.
I posted a new thread about it : http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/themes-apps/greenify-disabling-secure-keyguard-t3353079

In the LG-E960 service manual there is a question about battery consumption is too fast and one of the answers is.
After turning on the application and turning it off using the home key, invisible applications are still being used on the background, so battery consumption becomes faster. It is recommended that delete/before key is always used to end applications or programs.
Does anyone know what is meant by "delete/before key"?
The back button.

I think the service manual is wrong. Back key doesn't close apps (at least, most of them). You need to use app key and swipe it from there to really close it.

It depends on how the developer coded the app to handle the function. It doesn't close everything.
AFAIK apps are closed, services don't.
They probably mean the " long press back button to kill apps" function.
Check the developer options. It should be the last option.

What do you mean the hardware button will be safer?? With 2gb ram what s the point to check open apps? It should be used the opposite way...long press to get to task manager, normal touch to get to menu...I ll wait for the other member to show up with the solution hopefully

Well, actually there is a solution since you are rooted: install Xposed framework, then install/check Gravity Box module within the framework menu. Go into the Gravity Box and assign the buttons to your liking, restart the device and voila!

You are very welcome, but you could activate the menu function just holding the recent apps button for 0.3 secs without using any additional apps. Anyways, glad i could help

Here is a work around to the popular double tap to lock when using Nova Launcher.
All you need to do is to download "screen off and lock" from the Google Play store, then go into Nova's "gestures and buttons" settings menu and tie double tap to the screen off and lock app.
Then it should work as it does with the standard launcher.
Thank for the tip
Or if you have greenify you can tie the double tap to hibernate and it does exactly he same. Actually I prefer since, I use greenify on my phone anyways.

What shortcut you use on Greenify? Hibernate or Hibernate+Lock Screen?
Or you can just double tap the top of the status bar works with any launcher

I have the Note 4 and the LG G3 and was switching between forums.
My sincere apologies.
Scrren Off app + Nova Launcher Pro with the gesture option (double tap executing the screen off)
Just works! :good:
With 3rd party lock apps I had issues with the keylock activating even though i had smartlock set to deactivate my pin when my phone is connected to my pebble watch. So i now use tasker to double tap off with nova from anywhere on the screen.
In tasker set up a new task to mimic a press of the power button:
New task>code > run shell> Command> input keyevent 26
Tick use root access.
Then point novas double tap gesture to the task. Because its mimicking the power button press it doesn't interfere with smartlock.

You can even use Greenify for this trick.
if you want to be able to temporary hide your navbar, you should read this tread:
http://honor-info.de/tipps-und-tricks-fuer-emui-3-1?showall=1&limitstart=
point 1 ->"1. Aktivieren der ausblendbaren Navigationsleiste" -> "activate the collapsible navbar"
sorry, but if you are interested, maybe you must translate it because it is written in German
It is only available on 5.x not at 6.x(MM)!
Edit:

you have to install the "HWTouchplus" app at first to use this feature! This app isn’t available in ps!
You will find this app using the searchword "hwtouchplus.apk".
(or at the original German forum tread - link at first post)
If you want to hide both bars, you can use the (free) app "powertoggles" from store
Edit: new link in first post because the old one was outdated
someone knows the "thanks" button?
This is great!!!! But is there a touchplus glass for Honor 7??? For now I can replace this three buttons with finger scanner

no, a glass like this isn’t supported! The one function you will get, is the possibility to individual hide the navbar!!!

I can... Try switching it off and on again. Or do the following:
1) turn on the first toggle
2) turn on the second toggle there
3) turn off the first toggle
4) turn on the first toggle again

i’m using it on PLK-L01-B170 and it works! It was a little bit tricky to install, but now everything is alright.
to install:
1.) install hwtouch+.apk
2.) reboot device
3.) open setup/touchplus and toggle "touchplus" function to "on"
4.) toggle to "on" the second switch too ( replace....)
5.) toggle "touchplus" function to "off"! (first button in app)
6.) press the arrow at the navbar and hold it! Return into the app and toggle "touchplus" to "on" during holding the navbar arrow. Take two fingers if necessary!
7.) disable "touchplus" in touchplus app menu to "off"
If you are doing right, the small down arrow at the left side should be visible now.
Yea i got it to work now, needed to spam both switches a lot before it gave away.
Tyvm for this finally i don't lose 0,2" while playing games
Thankssssss!!!
It's perfect anda very easy.

Thank you very much. Getting the navbar hiding without xposed drived me crazy. Any app used was pretty bad.

We all know Xiaomi doesn't let us use multiwindow on its MIUI though its an android nougat feature. However there's a nifty trick to activate this feature on any nougat MIUI device including our Mi 5.
Note that this works on nougat based MIUI only.
First download the app called Button Mapper. You need the pro version.
Playstore link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton
Open the app and give permission for services.
Go back to the app and click the 'Menu' button. On top activate customisation. Click on long press. Scroll down and select Split screen.
Your device is now ready to use splitscreen or multiwindow feature. Open an app. Press and hold the menu or recents button. Slide your finger from the extreme bottom of the screen to slide the window up. Now you can open and run another app simultaneously. When using two apps at a time, press the outline separating the windows for a few options.
Make sure to allow the app to autostart in Security>Permissions>Autostart.
Not all apps are supported by default but you can do it by enabling force activities to be resizable from developer settings. And this won't always work like you intend. You may face a few bugs.
