Bought this phone brand new back in December, only one issue with the phone. Whenever I play YouTube videos the sound is always staticy. I tried through the app and the website on chrome, same thing. I even installed viper4android thinking that might fix it but its still there, maybe even worse. It happens to all videos through app or chrome, doesn't matter. Anyone else experiencing this? I've tried factory resetting, a different ROM etc... When I play videos through Netflix, hulu, amazon video, etc its fine. Even gallery videos are fine. Thanks for any help.
Sorry to hear that but I haven't: might want to do an exchange. Fwiw, I replaced mine 4x due to pink screen issue so quality issues not uncommon.

When doing an exchange do they give you a brand new device or a refurbished? That's the only issue my phone has and would hate to return it for something that was previously used that might have another issue. Also does it matter if my phone is rooted if they'll take it back?

issue 1, Sometime while listening to music on my phone; it starts to sort of clip the audio. It happens randomly with any music (possibly any sounds) using the headphone jack. this is not a consequence of volume nor a consequence of source. the only cure is time. I have tried rebooting the phone and clearing ram, nothing helps. I have tried lowering the volume, switching sources such as my saved spotify music, google play music , youtube, youtube music. I also have tried different headphones, speakers and even different cars. the issue remains the same. my only conclusion is that is a software bug because of the inconsistency. any ideas?
Issue 2, Boot time. I just timed my boot time on my rooted 6p. it is 2:05. is it just me or is that hella long for a new phone?
Issue 3, Lag outs and lock ups. My phone frequently will lag out or lock up causing he phone to be unusable until i clear the ram, the odd thing is that i am no where near 3gb of ram used. usually around the low 2's. any solutions?
Issue 4, Using the camera to record video. Yesterday i had a friend record my speech in class, when i got my phone back,My phone had locked up after i left the camera app and the back was incredibly hot. he recorded me in 1080p. I do not imagine there is a solution. just thought i would post the issue.
Chances are i will be contacting Project Fi and get a new phone from them.
As you can imagine i am a little frustrated with this device, I purchased what a thought to be a flagship-esque nexus and I it has turned out to be my least favorite phone I have ever owned.
I would RMA it. Sounds like you got unlucky and possibly have a hardware issue...could be a bad board.
Yours must be defective, I got mine yesterday and I've not run into any of the issues you describe. I haven't filmed yet but absolutely no lag or locking up. My music (Spotify) is fine as well, just have an issue with my Turtle Beach headset (software related I think).
I'd RMA if I were you.

Do you possibly have an app behaving badly? Have you tried clearing the Cache Partition and doing a Factory reset?
Yeah I did factory reset it once. Nothing changed.

You've got bad hardware, contact Google for a return.
Not scientific but less than 1 minute to go from boot warning to home screen.
Two minutes seems long.

Spoke to google project Fi, whom i purchased it through, they sent me a new one, next day. thanks!
So, I just re-purchased a Nexus 6P after an ill advised dalliance with an iPhone.
Taking advantage of the current sale, I ordered a "Very Good" condition Graphite 64gb from Amazon Warehouse Deals. When it arrived, it was in perfect condition.
I booted it, ran through the OTA's up to April. I then proceeded to Unlock Bootloader, install TWRP, and flash systemless SuperSU before setting up my apps, etc.
Then I noticed something weird... whenever I'd try to play a video in Instagram, it would show a still image for a few seconds, sometimes play a bit of audio, then stop with a circular "replay" arrow.
I then noticed that I couldn't play video anywhere... not YouTube, not Facebook, not through Chrome.
I downloaded the May Factory Image and flashed everything. Set the phone up as New and didn't restore anything. Installed Instagram... same problem.
I've re-flashed several times, relocked the bootloader, etc. and it still does it.
Could video playback somehow be affected with a hardware fault, even if the rest of the phone appears to work normally? I'm completely baffled here.
Just for giggles, try flashing a custom rom.

Did you try before installing instagram ?
Probably the part of videos that use hardware acceleration from gpu, which is probably most these days is borked. Try installing mx player and setting the settings to software only decoding and see if a video plays in that. Then try hardware only mode. If it works only on software then that's your problem. I've had this happen on a PC years a go.

Hi guys,
I got a new S7 due to breaking the screen on my last one and I seem to be experiencing some strange issues with audio.
In pokemon go for example, sometimes the sound effects will be normal, other times only part of the sounds will play. YouTube seems to often play 5 seconds of a video with audio before it just cuts out.
I haven't been able to identify any consistency and if I click through random apps and go back to YouTube, sometimes the audio will be fine again.
Never had this issue before. Has anybody experienced this?
Cheers

I'm currently experiencing it with Google Play music, a notification says there was a problem with the playback. I think it might be something to do with the upscaler or the adapt sound if you have either enabled?

I don't think I've got either enabled.
Just tried a factory reset and fired up YouTube and it happened straight away. No sound.
Agh! So irritating.

I have the same exact issue after the last update 1 or 2 days ago. Personally I think it's because of the update. I didn't have the issue before it. Drives me absolute mad.
Ah, perhaps that's what it is. I hadn't picked up the ota on my other device.
I hope it's that at least. Would hate to have to go through the process of a replacement phone.
Edit: just as an update... I called Samsung today and after being passed around several different departments, and confirming troubleshooting steps, they've determined that the device may be faulty and I'm going to have to go through the replacement process. I don't know if this is just a bad timing in receiving the phone exactly when a bad update comes out of whether it's a faulty unit. I guess I'll find out by the end of next week when I receive the replacement!

I think the bug is coming from uhq upscaler. Iam on sm-g930f and experienxing the same ****. Anyways when i use soundcloud it cuts out just for a sec and the longer i play music on soundcloud the more cuttings are at the playback. Its freakin annoying though
For the past couple of days now, whenever I try to play a video, I hear the audio fine, but don't see any video, just a black screen. At first I thought it was trouble with my YouTube app since that's basically where I only watch videos and read on several forums that the issue was caused by having the official twitter app (which is weird since I don't have twitter). I also tried restarting my phone, uninstalling/reinstalling youtube, installing older versions of youtube, all of which never worked.
So I decided to swallow my pride and just download a fake youtube alternative. To my surprise, the videos still show a black screen and only play audio. This had me thinking, so I tried to play a video in my camera roll I downloaded... Same problem, however, if I play a video I recorded myself on the phone it works... The even weirer part is though, that if I play a video through youtube via the Chrome browser it works (despite it looking like 140p and horrible audio) but it works! I've also tried smart cleaning, deleting cache and data but to no avail.
Is there a problem with my phones flash player, or whatever extension it uses? I know Chrome uses its own built in player which could explain why it sorks in Chrome but not anywhere else.
This all seemed to happen randomly, I didnt do anything. Games and other media including music still seem to work fine. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Also I am rooted on 12A and have been for the past 6 months.
I'm also having the same issue with my vs995 running on rooted 12A
Wondering if anyone is having the same problem I am with the OnePlus 6T or has suggestions to fix it. When I try to play videos I downloaded through Amazon Prime for offline viewing, the sound only comes through in extremely short stutters or not at all. If I stream it works as expected. Already reinstalled Prime Video, tried all the download quality options, and no change. Downloaded and streaming video from Netflix works fine. Guessing codec issues or sound settings but haven't found a solution thus far.
Anyone else run into this?
Did you root O6t ?
I saw on one of the post that, there's some issue with Amazon & netflix videos after root.

Are you on the T-Mobile version? The latest OS update pushed out a few days ago broke Play Store certification for many people. That can cause issues with apps that use DRM, like Netflix and I guess maybe Amazon Prime Video. If this is the case, clearing data/storage on the Play Store fixes it. Source.
ETA: Just noticed the timestamp on the OP, doh. Oh well, leaving my post up in case anyone else having this problem more recently comes here looking for answers.
