I called today about a warranty replacement and the guy is telling me that I need to send them my phone, they will attempt to fix it, if they cannot THEN they would issue me a replacement. A process he is saying could take up to 3 weeks! Is this the same process everyone has to go through in order to receive a replacement? This is my first time ever doing a warranty replacement on a phone so maybe it is normal, just seems like people on here just call and ask for a new one and they send it to them.
Thanks.

I'm guessing you didn't buy it from Google? If you didn't then it's the normal procedure. If you bought it from Google, they should send you a new phone first. When you've received your replacement phone you send the old one back. Just to note, Google makes an AUTH for the replacement phone on your creditcard. (if you don't send it back they'll charge you for the phone).

This is just an update for you all. Here's my story. I had a Nexus One and had it swapped due to volume key not functioning properly.
The new one I got, I rooted after close inspection and after 2 weeks got dust under the screen. I sent it in after getting my swap ( which is messed up now too).
after 3 weeks I got an email saying my repair quote was done. I checked it out and they wanted $196.00. I called and they didn't know what it was for. They said they would escalate the matter. Also on their quote page, you have an option to comment when you deny the quote to be contacted. I messaged them about my problem and everything.
A week has now passed and I haven't gotten a call. Out of curiosity I went back to check my ticket status, and it has changed from my quote being ready , to the ticket being completed. Seems someone got my message. Now time to root it.
Can you clarify the point of your post, other than your warranty claim was denied because you were rooted?
A completed ticket could mean a couple of things... either they fixed it for you or they're sending it back and charging your card for diagnostics. You should call HTC asap.
I received my DVP yesterday (after wating for a LONG time to get it), everything is working fine except my ability to make and receive calls.
I can only hear sound when the phone is in speaker mode, I was therefore wondering whether I had a setting that needed to be changed to 'hear' the phone call normally or if I need to send the phone back and wait a long time again for a new phone to arrive.
Please help : (
I'm having the same problem although it just started this morning. I've had my unit since Feb...
Trying a hard reset now but the tech at Tmobile said it may be a hardware issue...
Will wait and see after updates...
If anyone else other than the OP and I have encountered this problem please let us know if it's salvagable or will we have to deal with Dell and get a replacement...
Well mine didn't work since opening the box. Called Dell and they set up to send me a replacement. A week after Called them again to see what had happened with the replacement and they said they cancelled it. Now they're going to send me a 16gb version. Let's see how that goes~
I just sent mine back as they were going to 'repair' my phone over a 30 days period..I so sent it back and got a refund...
I called dell on Tuesday to report the problem. I told the techsupport guy that I've done the hard resets, etc. and none of it has worked. So the guy said he will get a dispatch put in to get me a replacement.
I told him that I am traveling internationally on Friday (really) and that if it can't get here by then, to just hold off on it. He said he will try and see.
The call to get a guy and obtain a dispatch number took me 5 minutes only!
Yesterday I got a call saying that the phone has been mailed (OMG!) and to watch for it Thursday (today). But little did I know, I got the phone less than 3 hours after the call...
The new unit is working great and I have to admit, Dell definitely cleaned up their act from a few months ago...
Hope the rest of you have a good Dell experience like I did!
Hi
Can anyone give me some advice?
I have now been with out my phone for over three weeks. I originally sent it back to HTC as the touch screen stopped work. I got the phone back 8 days later but the first day of using it the phone crashed in a big way and would not boot back up, on top of that the magneto (compass) didnt work. I sent it back the next day and have still not had it back.
They keep sending it back and forth between test and repair as they keep finding that they cannot fix it so try to repair it again it then fails the test and its back to repair.
I am just not getting anywhere with them. They will not send me the phone till the are 'happy' that it fix but they cant fix it and they wont send me a replacement.
I really dont know what to do!?
Any help would be great.
Thank You in advance
Nick
I bet they've lost it, but are holding off admitting it till they can decide who to blame/how to blame you..
I hope not.lol
They did tell me 2 days ago that they didnt know where it was, that was over a week after they had it back. Then they said that they found it and went on to say that it had been repaired and failed the test so was back in repair.
I know they have it as they arranged the courier and I've checked with UPS and they have delivered it, so i have the confirmation.
This is so frustrating
I've had my S5 for a little over a week, and I've had an issue since day one. I've been unable to send or receive text longer that 11 characters. It just fails to send if it's longer. Shorter messages send fine. This is with the default SMS app and hangouts. The carrier (C Spire) has not been much help, but before I take it back, I thought I would ask here to see if anyone has any suggestions. I've already got the phone setup like I want, and I'd hate to have to do it again. Besides that, I figure I'd learn something in the process.
Thanks!
Have you tried factory resetting your phone?
Sent from my Galaxy S5 G900P running R.D.D.T Mystery Build v1.1 using Mystery Build Stock Kernal
If you've had the issue from day 1, factory reset the phone and try again. Then take it back to the shop for an exchange or get your money back and go elsewhere. If you buy any product and there is an issue soon after buying, do not waste your time - return and replace. You may only have 7 days or so for a full refund - otherwise you'll be stuck with a replacement from the same shop. If they have poor customer service or a bad batch then you're going to have fun. Not.
I asked Verizon to help me with my phone, as it booted into TWRP and not the OS, because I accidentally accepted the OTA update. So they are sending me a replacement, because I pretended I didn't know what happened, and I said I looked up how to back up android and It said to install an app and I installed it and it had a loading bar that just said done. He is sending me a replacement because of this, and he said the broken phone is being sent to LG for repair. I am rooted, but when they find out (if they do) Will they fine me? or will they just try to fix it? The guy said they will only fine you if it has any physical damage. The replacement is coming tomorrow and I have to send the broken one back within 5 days of it arriving. Unfortunately, I found out the next day how to get out of it, but oh well. Its too late now. But will they fine me or force me to give back the replacement?
Anybody?
I did this as well- I was able to use a tool to unroot it, and sent it back and they were none the wiser.
Verizon will charge you the full amount because it's technically out of warranty once you mod it. However, LG doesn't care if you send the phone directly to them.
