We need Cyanogenmod or Devs to make a unofficial port - Honor 7 General

Honor 7 is a very good phone never been so surprised over a phone in this price range has so good quality and functionality have to add it has the best fingerprint sensor out there and looks great. Enough about that.
Huawei have released the kernel that stopped devs to start developing not so long ago. So there is nothing in the way anymore. Or is it anything more?
Was looking around and came over someone who was willing to pay for a dev to do this Job for him on Guru.com hes Guru Username is CU T and from Malaysia he got ok rep on the site. He offered $3500for the job.
Here is hes listing on Guru.com

Only one that had a offer. I do not know how much time this takes but would it take a year and $24000 to make a unofficial port to Honor 7?
Get involved everyone and post on cyanogenmod official forum link is provided at the end and ask for a Unofficial port! HONOR 7 is better than so many smartphones on the marked they have supported.
[Request] Cyanogenmod For Huawei Honor 7
Will also add they seems to have stopped supporting newer Huawei they have official CM for Huawei Ascend Mate 2.
LOOK! Forum have a section for Huawei. (Made my dog pee inside he was so excited)

 hilarious
off you go then...
"i demand you make something just because i want you to! never mind it's gonna be a real ball-ache, and there will be about 50 total downloads, and you'll have to spend months bug-fixing and doing updates, and listening to people moan that it doesn't have this or that, who cares it's not a snapdragon, or qualcomm chipset, i want code written for that running on my Kirin, and you probably don't even own the handset, but do it for me!"
sarcasm is hard to get across in text... but i tried..
I'll drop this in just for fun.. codeworkx (an awesome CM dev) did and unofficial CM for honor 6...

good luck :silly:

Agreed sminki.
I certainly don't 'need' anything. I have a great phone and am grateful for the updates and tweaks we already have. The two other phone in our household have CM and I much prefer my H7.

i was a bit harsh, and in a bad mood, so to put my point a little more diplomatic...
to get CM (or any other) on here will require someone with dev abilities and the handset, because it cannot simply be "ported" over, there is no base to work from as such, it has to be built for the handset. someone with the handset and drive to get it done will, not because people want it, or because of a thanks button.
shouting "i want" in a forum, be it here or CM isn't going to suddenly make a capable person do it. paying someone will only end in disaster, they're not doing it for the 'right' reason, and even if they cook up something and not just "take off with the cash" - long term will offer no support
just to make myself even more unpopular, i prefer OMNI anyway

why this?
CM is aosp rom as other nothing special same things for the last 10 year only news is CAF version.
PA stop developer and same AOKP and all aosp rom are similar
EMUI is a new way have a good battery saver and lot of feature that we missing with aosp.
if want modding the only best devices are Nexus easy step for root/recovery all team support device and all source are available on Google site.
Obviously my thoughts

I've started playing with CyanogenMod on my Honor 7 (because I made the fatal mistake of buying it instead of something with actual devs working on it), however it's very early on - all I have is working ADB access and a lot of things to learn. Don't get your hopes up too quickly, Mali drivers are apparently painful to get right.

ProjectM (Milkdrop) for Android

So I was searching though Motorola's source code the other day for the Droid X, and I stumbled upon a visualization folder. Looked inside, and to my surprise I see folders labeled as "projectm" Which is the open source port of the beautiful Milkdrop plugin for Winamp on Windows (to my knowledge).
So I dug around a bit, but not being a developer I couldn't figure much out.
Today though I was creating a shortcut to an activity in LP. And I saw "Visualization" category In there there is an activity to start the visualization!
I also finally found where the visualization was originally implemented. I reinstalled Motorola's stock music app, and saw the visualizations there.
So anyways, now that I see the source code is already there, and I am trying to learn android development, I am going to try to get it running as a live wallpaper, and also try to improve on it a bit, as it renders pretty low res, and doesn't seem very optimized.
I am not sure if this is a full port, or just enough to run the few presets Moto included.
But at current I figured I would share with you all how to get the Moto version of this app running Hopefully I can get my standalone version/live wallpaper working soon!
Also, not sure if I can post Moto's apk for those that dont have it. someone let me know.

Screenshot of it running standalone. It reacts to any Media audio.
Dude If you actually get this running as a stand alone for other phones I will help fund your development of this! check my other post been trying to get this done for awhile! so happy you made this post!
Please can you send to me the apk via pm?
i also tried to port it on my acer liquid
Wondering how Development was going? I talked to a Dev named kholk who said he would help me and work on this as well.
The Dev seemed really nice and willing to help said he wanted to do it for free.
It's interesting! And it looks funny
Anyway, if we don't have a Motorola phone we can't use them legally speaking...
...but if you upload them and post them here saying that if you haven't got a moto phone you shouldn't download it... well... not your problems
P.S.: I'm looking into it, but this week I'm not at home. If someone anticipates me, well.. good. Otherwise you have to wait for some days :/

Awesome Man! Take as long as want its awesome someone is actually trying to do this was at the gym the other night thinking about how cool it would be to have some visualizations to look at while doing cardio.
Sorry for the lack of updates recently. It seems the project died before it started for me. I simply dont have the time now. (I just got a bunch more web work to do. Yay!)
The source is of course open via motorola, just download the Droid X motorola source code and its in there.
Good luck to whoever tries to do it! And please keep me posted
interesting................hope you get it ported
would be sure to donate if anyone could get this working... Sorry to see you end development WACOMalt =( hopefuly some other devs will jump on this project like kholk! =) donations will be made who ever can get this thing going. Also would be a first for this app i been searching google for awhile and a lot of people want something like this.
Sorry for double posting just wondering if anyone is still working on this?
OH MY FREAKING GOD!!!!! This has excited the **** out of me!!!
MilkDrop (IMO) is STILL the greatest visualisation ever made - it reacts so well to music and continues to surprise me. I've even started VJing with it (although it is very hard with such a limited VJ console).
I would be very interested in seeing this running on Android (specifically my Desire HD) simply for the gimick. If anyone legitimately thinks that they are capable of porting this please contact me. If you can convince me of your capabilities I will donate some money upfront and continue as development progresses.
Good luck been a few months. I think this project is dead in the water
I did a little reasearch on my Samsung Spica
The Droid X source code is here -> https://opensource.motorola.com/sf/frs/do/listReleases/projects.droidx/frs.droidx_source_froyo
The source of visualisations is on the 4th page of files -> https://opensource.motorola.com/sf/...roidx_source_froyo.shado_x6_2_3_15?_pagenum=4 in motorola_external_visualization.tar.gz
I dont know how to compile it, so I tried another method. I've found Droix X rom on XDA -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786541 and I copied all files, that I thaught, have something to do with visualisations. Now I can create a shortcut via Activities in my launcher to com.android.music.VisualisationMPDisplay , com.android.music.VisualisationMPSetings, com.mototola.visualisation.VisualisationDisplay but none of them works. When I try to load Visualisations app, it loads, and then returns to launcher.
I dont know what to do next, here are my files which I copied to my /system/ partition
http://www.mediafire.com/?d23orectf78jr5u
Maybe they dont work, because Spica has ARMv6 cpu, and Droid X ARMv7 (?)
here is logcat showing the moment of launching the com.android.music.VisualisationMPDisplay shortcut: http://pastebin.com/acAv0fck What's wrong?
Hope someone can fix it
I tried doing what your doing it semi bricked my G2 deff want to see more done with this!
this would be awesome on tablets, is there any development ?
thanks
haven't heard anything from any buddy in along time
Wow! This NEEDS to get some attention! I'll try linking some people/devs here! Everyone do the same for their handsets!
I really hope you have more luck then I have had its been so hard to get anyone to look at this and get it working would be amazing if a dev could do it... back when I had money offered donations to devs that could get milkdrop working... no go =/

Well, from what I can gather (from this thread and the few others related to it - just putting it here so others can see it quickly) It looks like it's not so much the Milkdrop files that are the issue, but rather the Music.apk thats needed to run it.
It looks like Milkdrop in and of itself can be just dumped in, but the Music.apk from the Droid X relies on a framework we don't have - and just dropping that into our phones is obviously a bad idea (bricking).
So someone would have to find a way to patch/mod the Droid X Music.apk file to run on our phones for this work.
I've just been PM'd by an apparent DEV who is interested in porting this project. Their username is: AerialX. But supposedly can't post on any forums because of a techincal forum issue.
I can't believe this project may may be getting underway!

Trolls and the ungrateful

One thing I have enjoyed here in this forum is it is much friendlier and less flaming than the evolution 3d forum I came from, and still is so far.
I have read a few things that disappointed me greatly I would like to mention .
Guys, think before you bash a persons work. Whether it's a theme, ROM, or some mod these people put in hard work and time for free and our benefit! It may not be perfect or what you personally like but that's not the point. If I was doing things for friends I've never met or a forum I would stop after some of the crap I've read.
Guys, please keep this place supportive and friendly. We were all noobs once and didn't know much except how to turn on the phone.
Anyway, respect each other and the work posted here. Bashing doesn't promote anything and doesn't encourage anyone to keep going .
And it's FREE!
Ok, group hug . J/k

It has become worse over the years. Sadly.
Still it's a small group who messes it up for the rest.
I have however, also seen someone who thinks he's a "developer", say snobby stuff to noobs. Like he was better then them.
This is much worse imho.

I agree. It goes both ways and there will always be the ones who's sole purpose is to troll and flame. I just can't imagine knocking someones hard work when they are giving it away. And I will never understand flaming a noob for asking a question. We were all there once. Hopefully this forum will stay above the fray .

I completely second what OP said, most of my PDAs would have been unusable bricks without the support of this great Forum and its intelligent and zealous Devs, starting long back with my Imate PDA2K in 2006, turning my HD2 from unstable device with its officially unsupported OS into one great masterpiece .
I salute all the devs in this forum knowing well that our GNote coupled with their fantastic effort and talent will become an even better device once the official ICS starts rolling out.

First of all, I'd like to thank all the developers of the XDA community and especially all people who made Rom-modding even possible.

User contribution?:
I am certain that every single Rom that was once out here on XDA had it's on journey and issues to face. Most users of XDA aren't willing to take this journey but they just jump across Rom's as they'd switch there own clothes, just because they saw something better, that 'might' make them look better and even-tough knowing that at some point you can't blame them, 'cause you or me were/are probably the same, I just want to share a thought with you guys.
Appreciation
Do we really appreciate the person behind the Rom? I am sure a certain amount if they ever read this, would just say! YES!, but YOU DON'T. You wouldn't even care or be bothered if the developer of your Rom would pass away or if he or she would have some personal issues affecting the development. THE ONLY THING YOU CARE ABOUT IS YOURSELF
Even I can't deny that, I was an OTA addict like hell, I switched roms like a nut, I flashed modems like a boss and I didn't care about the Rom specifications and I just flashed one Rom after the other, AND I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS WRONG.
I only recommend we should think about, HOW we could return the favor. We should do more then clicking a thanks buttons, who cares about it's thanks rating anyway! We should help them, because they are the ones who can make things possible and we?. We are just the ones that can click a thanks button, but don't give a single damn about any contribution!
[Q] Did you ever donate?
[Q] Did you ever clicked the thanks button, however the advise given didn't solve your problem?
[Q] Did you ever report bugs or were you just to lazy and swithed roms?

If you have any suggestions or ideas how we could improve this, be my guest, I am going to use my second topic probably as a list, where I'll list all the helpers who are available and who are currently working with developers on some projects
I do hope, that main developers or developers who just started creating there Rom, will use this topic to their own benefit, but we'll see

[Q] CM10 for the Nexus 7?

Is this something that may happen quickly for the N7 as it is stock android, or will the devs need to spend a fair amount of effort prepping it for the N7?

Yeah man - they have a bunch of screen shots on their G+ feed right now. Tablet and phone UI.
CM10 should already compile for the N7 as because it is a Nexus device the vendor (the files used to configure the build) are released in AOSP. See https://android.googlesource.com/device/asus/grouper

I thought that may be the case, but that level of detail is not in my wheelhouse, so thanks for the info!
I wonder how long it will take an enterprising dev to start the "***OFFICIAL*** CM10 For the Nexus 7" thread in the dev forum
I have no doubt I could compile CM10 as it is for the Nexus 7, I don't see any point yet though, there are next to no changes.
Ahh... cool. I have not even messed around with cm9 yet because a full version of it is not supported for my device. I was a big fan of CM7.2 when I was running the RC though.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question - it's cool when the devs help folks like me out with the easy questions
Cyanogen 10 NIGHTLIES should begin soon.
As far as a release candidate or final, there is absolutely no way to tell but i can pretty much guarantee you looking from CM7 and CM9 that your looking at at least 2-3 months.
ICS was released last November and CM9 has not even hit release candidate yet.

CM9 has hit RC1 . Apparently, it's going to take less time to get things rolling from ICS -> JB as there aren't that many BIG platform changes unlike GB -> ICS.
Looking forward to CM10 or AOKP!
This is what I'm waiting in for. Does anyone know if someone has committed to being the Cm dev for the n7? And if so, I who is it?
A lot of the work of being a 'dev' for a certain device isn't really needed with a Nexus device since Google provides most of the bits that make it difficult to make a custom ROM without.
Also, quite a few devs were at IO and received a free Nexus 7, so I really don't think we're going to be short of devs wanting to get CM working on the device!
yes, but my question is if anyone has stepped up yet. Is there a device maintainer? I'm actually pretty surprised that there isn't a cm10 build floating around for this yet....
Well, it sure looks like someone has stepped up to the plate. I wonder what the next steps are?

Brandon BennettYesterday 11:05 PM - Public
So funny story. Right after I got done adding some files to support CM10. I took my Nexus 7 over to my nephews birthday party. I set it down for a second on a table. My sisters dog than ran into it and the N7 took a fall to the patio.
What only looked like a small crack on the screen and the display works fine. The trouble came when I tried to unlock my tablet. The touchscreen no longer works.
So my plee to anyone out there. I am looking for a new N7. I would buy it from Google but they are 3-4 weeks out on shipping the next round. If anyone bought two, or knows of any other stores that may have one in stock let me know. I don't want to be out of the game that long!

There are a number of 'hack' implementations of this idea, samsung has one, omnirom was working on one last year (haven't heard anything about it in a while), there is this "remix"... there is evidence that google themselves are working on it, but they are taking a more careful approach to it as the hardware Android runs on grows to make this feature more relevant. I sure can't see the use of it on a phone or TV, but a large tablet could benefit from it greatly, or a laptop.
For example, this commit to the Android window manager mentions multi-window: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/baf6bef001a582fea275bf891294cf1fe9d5472e
The main thing I want is the multi window. I've gone back to my gn10.1 2014 for working out b/c constantly switching b/t google music and jefit was kinda getting on my nerves. Downside is that the gn10.1 speakers suck compared to the n9. Luckily best buy has the charge 2 on sale. almost got the UE but it seemed a but to trebley for my tastes, sounded clean though.
looks good. have nexus 9 with keyboard so the Remix OS would be cool on the Nexus 9.
No android 5.1.. no good multitasking.. supported kickstartar $1.
(If you haven't known about this yet)
You can now pledge $1 and get early access to Remix OS ROM for Nexus 9.

Edit: I've also backed this up... with $1 lol
Well I'm backing this up and really looking forward to it...
This Rom is a bist, possibly doa. No customization, they have it locked down, no widgets, no app drawer and it has battery issues. Hopefully someone at xda gets a copy and can make it better than jide.

Where did you get this info? I would like to be a part of this group please...
I received my remix last Friday. From kickstarter. They should be opening up regular sales by the end of the month.

Are the battery issues possibly not ROM related, but device? Curious how this will run on the n9. (If you mean you are using the RemixOS on the actual Jide tablet that is)
I have the tablet and it's a 8500 battery. I believe it's a software issue. They have a way to go on software development to make this a daily driver.
Anyone received the ROM for nexus 9? I haven't received any.

They only said May, but right now Jide is likely occupied with fixing their Ultra Tablet. Users are having bugs, and I can't imagine the $1 tier is a priority.
