damn if we could flash that on the nexus 9 that would be siiiick
my first impression is .... surface on android. 2GB ram makes me wonder though.
would be sweet if they sold (or gave it away) it as a separate OS so we could run it on any hardware.
Looks like Kickstarter is up...
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1123481999/remix-a-laptop-experience-on-a-big-android-tablet
I don't know how, but I was lucky enough to snag one of the $39 units. Looking forward to playing around with it.
Nice score ?

So what you really want, is multi-window Android, and a launcher capable of showing running applications.
There are a number of 'hack' implementations of this idea, samsung has one, omnirom was working on one last year (haven't heard anything about it in a while), there is this "remix"... there is evidence that google themselves are working on it, but they are taking a more careful approach to it as the hardware Android runs on grows to make this feature more relevant. I sure can't see the use of it on a phone or TV, but a large tablet could benefit from it greatly, or a laptop.
For example, this commit to the Android window manager mentions multi-window: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/baf6bef001a582fea275bf891294cf1fe9d5472e
The main thing I want is the multi window. I've gone back to my gn10.1 2014 for working out b/c constantly switching b/t google music and jefit was kinda getting on my nerves. Downside is that the gn10.1 speakers suck compared to the n9. Luckily best buy has the charge 2 on sale. almost got the UE but it seemed a but to trebley for my tastes, sounded clean though.
looks good. have nexus 9 with keyboard so the Remix OS would be cool on the Nexus 9.
No android 5.1.. no good multitasking.. supported kickstartar $1.
(If you haven't known about this yet)
You can now pledge $1 and get early access to Remix OS ROM for Nexus 9.
Source: https://liliputing.com/2015/04/jide-to-release-remix-os-custom-rom-for-nexus-9-nexus-10-tablets.html
Edit: I've also backed this up... with $1 lol
Well I'm backing this up and really looking forward to it...
This Rom is a bist, possibly doa. No customization, they have it locked down, no widgets, no app drawer and it has battery issues. Hopefully someone at xda gets a copy and can make it better than jide.

Are the battery issues possibly not ROM related, but device? Curious how this will run on the n9. (If you mean you are using the RemixOS on the actual Jide tablet that is)
I have the tablet and it's a 8500 battery. I believe it's a software issue. They have a way to go on software development to make this a daily driver.
Anyone received the ROM for nexus 9? I haven't received any.

They only said May, but right now Jide is likely occupied with fixing their Ultra Tablet. Users are having bugs, and I can't imagine the $1 tier is a priority.

Does anyone here know how to factory/hard reset this phone? Sonys servers are down or something, and now I can't use the software to do it. Is there a bootup sequence or combo? I want to return this thing but need to reset it first to clear my data.
Not sure what I was thinking ever buying anything by Sony.
What ! too complicated for you ?
Look in the phone somewhere there is a master reset.
Which make phone do you usually use ?

Fast!
You guys work fast. Sorry I didn't mean to insult anyone, I've just never had anything but trouble with the quality of Sony products, and hardware wise this is ok so far, but the software is crap compared to nexus one in speed and smoothness etc. N1 should be here shortly.
But The Nexus is Android 2.1 so will be similar to the X10 wont it ? . This is my first Android phone and I presume most android phones would be similar in operating system with a few customisations.

and am real happy with this phone, I think it is the best se phone to date and a good introduction to Android.
Would the Nexus be that different ? being Android.
Mind though I was Using a P1i before this so it was a big upgrade for me in current tech so has wowed me a bit.
The X10 is only android 1.6, so quite a few apps just wont work for it. Trying the N1 and the X10 side by side I found the X10 much slower and more annoying to use.
I found their 'timescape' and 'mediascape' apps to be useless and not a good reason to hold back their from from 2.1.
The developer community seems to also be non existant.
I'm sure it will make a great phone for some, but not for me.

I'm waiting eagerly to get my white X10. but i have to wait 1-2 more weeks since a carrier in sweden has it exlusive first 4 sale's weeks (hate them) anyways, comparing to HTC phones.. i have one.. and i'm just boored sich with their 1-4-all UI a.k.a touchflo3D/Sence it's ugly and old.. the X10 is imo a beutifull device that will beat all competition when the update comes.. with or without multi touch (most likely without)
I could not wait any more, and fiddeling with the devices in a few stores made my actually start liking the black one :> so i'm now a proud owner!
Guys i was online for hours and nothing seems to work so this is the last thing that i tried and it worked out beautifully all u have to do is download (SE-Update_Service_Setup-2.10.6.21 Google it i found it on rapid share servers) install it let it update then pick the phone that u have in our case the (XperiaX10) there is going to be 2 of them u would have to pick the one that says XperiaX10 twice once at the top and bottom once u select it follow the prompts and u all set it will install the newer software updating your phone which will hard reset it !

I'm definitely looking forward to root and ROMs being ported to the G2. I have been using custom ROMs like Cyanogen's mod for quite some time now on my G1, and now that I am without; it has become blatantly obvious that it's the little things that transform quality products into luxury products. Thanks to everyone's work, we are watching the definition of luxury in the making. With every new technology that comes out, and every new line of code the developers and awesome community coders write we are watching the evolution of our devices progress. Can't wait to see how this great phone will fly once I get it away from stock. I'm already interested in the new things that are slowly being discovered about it. As some sit and complain that they aren't getting what they paid for, others are going on an adventure finding out whatever they can from a new product. Its like a giant puzzle that people all over the world are working together to figure out. How interesting it would be if they actually took advantage of situations like this and all the energy that follows them to create fully immersive viral advertising campaigns. I mean everyone who is following the developments of the G2 are putting so much emotion into it all. Whether it's positive or negative we are watching the community come together as a whole, and it's pretty amazing. Whether or not there really are lasting issues with the memory or other parts of the phone, I am enjoying the dynamic of our teamwork to figure it all out.
I'm right there with you bro. This phone will have crazy developer support, I can't wait to see what happens. Things can only get better especially with support from cyanogen.

I kind of agree. I'm more annoyed that rooting is the only way to get screenshot/wifi tether privileges..
If those two things were incorporated already (booooo Google & T-Mobile) I probably wouldn't root. I find android pleasantly customizable even without the theming options.
you can capture screen shots without root
i followed the instructions at this link (for the Droid) and works great
you'll need to download the SDK developers kit and the Java developers kit but they're both linked in the instructions and your phone will have to be connected to your PC, but once you've done the download, you'll end up with a shortcut icon on your desktop taking you straight to the screen capture function screen

Obviously I meant without using a computer and having to use the SDK. That's a lot more hassle than it should be.
once we have tablets with USB we should be able to put sdk on them(hopefully) and play with our toys using our other toys

So while we reported yesterday that the Samsung Galaxy S II won’t be heading to Verizon, the silver lining comes in the fact that the three other major wireless carriers will indeed be getting their own models. So, the big question regarding whether or not Samsung would take the previous path in releasing these new models, in creating different looking devices for each carrier has been the question since the beginning. Thanks to Pocketnow, we can finally say that we (may) know what the handsets will look like.
There isn’t a lot of information going around here. In fact, where the above image came from is anyone’s guess. And because of that, we may want to take the above leak with the normal amount of salt on hand. We’re not sure if these are the final devices for each carrier, but we imagine that it’s certainly possible. So stay tuned, as Samsung’s event is just around the corner and we’ll have all the details we could ever want (hopefully).

Sprint usually keeps the premium phones around the $199 mark, so I wouldn't expect this to be any different. No price has been announced, but I would expect that price point, but certainly nothing higher than $249.
Me personally, I'm waiting for details on the Nexus Prime to do anything. By then, the Epic will have GB and other goodies to go with it, and the SGS2 will already have ROMs etc associated with it. I have to rely on my phone quite a bit for business, so I'm not too eager to be an early adopter. I want to ensure all the small kinks and quirks with the SGS2 are worked out before I jump on it.
Nice to see confirmation of the design in the previously-shown pic that we assumed was Sprint. Looks like a solid design. I'm going to have a real problem deciding between this and waiting for a Sprint Nexus Prime variant.
Also, thanks for citing your source instead of merely ripping off an entire article as your own.
When the SGS1 EPIC came out it was $249 and then after the 2011 the price dropped. I hope they start out at $199 cause im just gonna add a 3rd line to my account to buy the SGS2 and give my son a phone! My wife will be taking my EPIC...
Ok so I entered into the Android world with an original Atrix. I was wowed by the "dual core processor". That phone was horrible.
I stayed with Android however and clang to Samsung for a year or so. I recently became fed up with my One X and S3 and was looking for something with better build quality. I found the Atrix HD. It's build quality was superior to the S3 and I much prefer on screen buttons. Obviously the One X had hardware buttons as well, which bugged me, but what really bugged me about the One X is that after 2 weeks, the beauitiful matte finish on the back started to wear off. This made the phone look uneven and cheap on the back with some parts shiny and others matte. I was completely tired of dealing with Android phones with poor build quality.Even the Atrix wasn't perfect, the damn sim door squeaked everytime you touched it, I actually thought about gluing it closed. Thats how much it bugged me. I am still spoiled by my Apple products that I used to own (NEVER AGAIN), but I love Android and would never go back to iOS. You have to admit the iPhone is a solid device hardware wise.
I then stumbled across the RAZR HD in a Verizon store. This was the best quality Android phone I had ever seen. I was sad that I could not buy it, as I have AT&T. It didn't take long for me to figure out that I could get one from Canada (Rogers) and it would work just fine with AT&T. After searching for weeks I FINALLY won a reasonable eBay auction.
My phone arrived today. This makes my Atrix look like a toy. This is the most solid and well built Android device I have ever seen. Certainly right there with the iPhone, if not better. I also was suprised to see that this phone has a much better camera than the Atrix as well. Also the speaker is the loudest and clearest I have come across. My co workers thought I was blasting a laptop earlier it was so loud. Totally blown away with this phone.
In my opinion this phone can not be touched right now. Sure there are phones on the market that have quad cores and twice the RAM, but I bet you those same phones don't have the build quality of this one. And if they even come close, there will be something else lacking, such as the camera or speaker (Optimus G). It just seems that the RAZR HD is good in every single category a phone can be.
I really hope motorola keeps this up and I can't wait to see whats next.

You see him trollin, you hatin? ^.^
I agree. This is the best phone I've ever used.
Consumer Reports have at the best Verizon phone available.
This is the best phone I've used as well, but my only other smartphone was a Motorola Defy, and while long in the tooth now, an avid development community on this forum has kept it going. It'll be getting 4.2 before my RazrHD gets 4.1, at this rate. Actually, scratch that, CyanogenMod 4.2 on Defy is at about the same stage as 4.1 for RazrHD.
Just waiting for the software to catch up with the hardware. I miss Jelly Bean, but I don't want an early alpha on my phone again, I use it for work.

Yep I think without a question the Razr Maxx HD is the best Android out. The build quality cannot be touched by samsung and htc sure there are quad core phones out but as someone pointed out they are running heavy touchwiz or sense skins that use up resources. I love it how close to stock android the RAZR is, its not like touchwiz and sense where you have to throw on a launcher just to get a decent experience.

I don't necessarily love that.
....It's just that Samsung is clearly the front innovator here.
As soon as they step up product manufacturing quality and get their commercial vector to focus, they will be on their way to absolute "portable communications + media devices" market dominance (...they may need to get someone new to achieve that focus...).
Myself, I am thinking about this:

Flexible is one thing but can a crease be made in the display by accidentally folding it?
My wifi 7.7 finally came in yesterday. Thing is leaps and bounds over the Nexus 7 I had. Screen is absolutely superb and the speakers are great. Best part is I dont have to worry about it falling apart in my hand like that dam Nexus. When I got it out of the box it was on HC but immediately flashed up a message for the jump to ICS. Im really surprised how smooth it runs on ICS. Ive tweaked it to my liking and disabled some of the crap. But all in all im extremely pleased with it.

Considering my N7 was 250 and my 7.7 was only 270 through Verizon with mobile data for $10 a month with no contract plus a way better screen, better build quality, and looks way better totally worth it. Tegra 3 isn't all that. I don't mind the lack of development so much but I really wish samsung would support this like it really should. There are tabs still being released as new with similar hardware specs and have jelly bean and will still get updated. This tab really shouldn't of had HC out of the box when it was released IMO.
