Hi guys, I've got a Note 4 N910F which I've just fitted a new screen to for my mate, I flashed the official firmware this morning, and the s-pen was been working great, but now removal or insertion are not being detected, I've just flashed the Emotion custom rom, and that has made no difference either, the S-pen works, i can write with it and control apps etc it just wont detect when I remove or insert it, any idea what the problem could be please anyone
You could try to download these app " Note Buddy (S Pen Helper) " , but i dont know if it work because i have not try it yet. Let me know.

Yep, its really strange because the pen is working too
Hmm. Maybe the S-Pen detection (hardware) isn't working anymore. Kinda reminds me of the S Pen gate of the Note 5.

My first thoughts exactly, I'd assume it hardware if it doesn't work after a clean wipe or flash.
i have seen many used note 4s in the market that had the same issue, its a hardware problem. when you take out the spen the commands dont show up.
It's not that big of a problem. You can activate the commands menu by clicking the S Pen instead.
I'm pretty convinced that it is the internal sensor on the phone that is faulty, but can't find any info as to where it is on the mainboard, or how it works, does anyone have any ideas or info please

Well, I used the Google ROM Edition 4.3 untouched for nearly two months, so far so good, these days I woke up and looked at my S4 and came across this:

That S-View cover screen. that should work only with this hardware feature. by covering light sensor you get this screen, try to disable this function in settings, but normally that looks like bug.

more it can not be a hardware problem? because I thought that this function of the S-View only work on the samsung stock ROM or am I wrong? and I used the Google Edition 4.3 rom and never activated this option.

try to factory reset first, if that will not a solution, then try other rom. I hope that will help with your problem.

hello. please, with kitkat were problems with sview original cover and i solved with xposed module "sview all the covers"... in lollipop can't install xposed framework and the original sview cover does black screen instead regular wallpaper and funcions.... i must remove cover and reinsert for working but, at every reboot it return to problem....
can anyone suggest if this problem is solvable?

According to what you said the problem sussist even for you. Bkack screen in sview window and no controls buttons is not worling fine!!! When call incoming the command for answer and photo contact or number doesn't appear never for you, i am sure and if i am wrong tell if you have lollipop and what rom. Thanks

I m using lollipop n9005. S view is working fine no problem. Except cannot use custom background like s5 s view.

Are you sure your cover is original (s view chip)? Mine is original and its working from kitkat to lollipop without issue.

I have the original cover and it was working fine on KK but when i upgraded my N 900 to lollipop it stopped working , only black screen on s view
Please suggest?? If i reboot phone the sview cover doesn t work and do black screen... If i shut down and power on, the sview works well!!! What can i do!???? What can it be? Thanks

I.m with exactly the same situation here. Even tried direct cover. Same a noting problem. Could it be the same thing that sammy did with kk a while ago ?
N9005 32GB here. With original Samsung S-View Cover. Working perfectly with Lollipop update.
please take note, 3rd party / fake S-view cover will not work with Lollipop update.

I don't know if this is the RIGHT thing to do but I had exactly the same problem and after a lot of reading I bumped into someone complaining about the "deep sleep" feature.
I used titanium to froze one process called "Unified Daemon 140911.01". After that I didn't have any problems with my unofficiall SView cover and the battery life was greatly extended.
Again, I'm not an expert and honestly I don't have a clue about the process I mentioned but, so far, I didn't have any issues with my Aryamod 5.1

i just fix my note 3. . before this happened i played my music and close the front leather cover of my phone. i flip it back the the song stop playing, i was amaze then do it again and again. then when i finger scroll cant touch screen stop. so i did the same thing using my spen to scroll. then hey!!! it all went back i can use my finger to scroll my screen. im so happy even do i i sleep so late and uploading some file from the net which is so slow (because im only connecting to my Neighbors wifi),even rooted it,apdated the android for 5. and go to the phone shop to ask if whats wrong with it, they also dont know. its there 1st time they said(they also ask me if i want to send to technician i said no.dont want my device to be open and be half empty inside.

Tried them all, it has never worked from taking it out of the box. Even the calibration doesn't detect anything. Running Slim7, still dead, tried the modem flash... DEAD!
Heyyo, eh a screen replacement isn't that hard tbh... Just have to heat up the phone enough for the glue to get soft.
Yeah if the modem firmware doesn't resolve it when flashed via TWRP then it would be a hardware issue.
Last ditch attempt to try and solve it via software would be to try and flash back to stock EUI ROM via fastboot. There's a guide for doing so in the guides section by greenManGaming if you wish to try it

I even thought it could be the update from android 10 to 11 and I downgraded it from 11 to version 10 but the problem persists.
I also tried the S-pen on another S6 tablet and it works without problems, the problem has to be with my screen and I'm afraid I'll have to take it to the technical service.
I hope to be lucky and that someone like me had the same problem and knows how to fix it without having to take it to be fixed.

You need to make sure your Air Command is updated. Everything I feel like my S-Pen is not working well, I will the updates. How to get there. Just go to your settings and then go to advanced features than click S-Pen, than scroll all the way down, to where it says "about S-Pen features. Than click on Air Command. Than you will see it update. I had the same problem. Make sure to buy tips/nibs for your pen, for the best interactions on your screen. Make sure to get only the ones for your tablet. If you get the right ones, it should be white and black tips/nibs in the bag. White one are plastic and the black one is rubber. White ones are smooth. If you need anything else just let me know. Just in case that doesn't work let me know. Good luck
