Everyone,
Decided to try KingRoot to see what would happen.
http://androidmtk.com/download-kingroot-application
Of course nothing happened. But, I do see the failed root attempt as a way to get a development team looking at the device.
Let me explain. When you try to root with KingRoot and it fails you will be asked if you want to submit a request. All you do is click the request button and it shows you how many people have requested root for the device. When I did it there were only 20. KingRoot I does hired requests firsts. We need more.
Please download the latest version of KingRoot and install the APK. Try to root and it should fail. Then click request.
Just another way to get devs involved.

You mean, I have to buy a Priv, install this non-functional software, and then hope for the best?
How about "no."
Getting devs involved is not gonna happen. Even if it did BB would patch it right away.
Also no one in their right mind trust kingroot

Really dude. Please take some time to search through this forum, read the stickies and how to's, the general postings, Q&A postings and the development postings AND follow-ups.
Rooting is really simple with this phone; so is adding a custom recovery and kernel too. [in begins with CF]
Seems this question gets asked daily.
However if you are spoon fed you will get the benefit and pleasure of actually learning for yourself.
A great video to start with is right here.

As above post. Questions are ask in Q&A. Also depending what firmware you are in. MDC,MDL,MF9 each has a different way to root. Just takes to search. We arent bashing on you for asking this its just that A LOT of people call themselves noobs and keep asking the same question over and over and over again over time.

I just got my Z3c over the weekend, and since it was working perfectly on AT&T with LP 5.0.2 I was reluctant to do the whole downgrade/unock/relock/root/flash/upgrade/etc. root method.
Fortunately the latest version of Kingroot will root the phone with OTA Lollipop upgrade working and unlocked bootloader. I have 23.1.A.1.28 rooted without even having to enable ADB or do anything but install and run the Kingroot app.
EDIT: Editing here by request on this thread. There is another thread on this forum dealing with Kingroot in detail. Some suggest that the Kinguser app transmits the phone's IMEI and this introduces some risk. For me, I managed to get rid of the Kinguser app and install SuperSU instead. My phone works fine, rooted, with SuperSU (which was installed via recovery/flash method). I have no comment about how risky Kinguser app is, whether anyone is trying to steal something from you, or what your risk level might be with Kingroot method. Buyer beware.
I would say, if Kingroot can do this without the downgrade/unlock/relock/upgrade method then so can non-KR devs.
Does it work with a locked bootloader?
We already have a thread about Kingroot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/kingroot-4-0-t3105593
It's not being stickied because it's a very shade rooting method, very little is known about how it works and what more it does behind the scenes except for rooting. And Kinguser cannot be replaced by SuperSU by any normal, conventional means.
Yes, it worked on my phone with a locked bootloader.
Sorry for the confusion. I didn't realize Kingroot was such a bad thing. It's also very difficult to remove.
FWIW what I did to get rid of Kingroot and the Kinguser app (which is the real beast to remove) is after rooting with KR, I installed the dual recovery and then flashed the pre-rooted LP from TWRP. That totally eliminated the KR and etc. so if anyone has taken my potentially bad advice and rooted with KR, that's how to undo and retain root with SuperSU. I still think it is easier/simpler than the "tried and true" method of rooting for those who have already upgraded to LP/5.0.2.

IMHO someone should update the sticky threads. This is a much simpler method to get rooted LP on your Z3c. Just upgrade as usual and then root with Kingroot. Couldn't be easier.

Its not so tricky to root with giefroot. Just downgrade, root install dualrecovery and flash pre rooted lollipop. Thats all. Personal i dont trust kingroot. Nobody know how they do the root and there are always discussion about some data sending to servers. But its everyone choice

followed the method in the first link, worked perfectly.
Super-sume on the play store does that with one click to remove kingroot
1) I suggest you change the title or just close this thread
2) I suggest you install a clean new stock firmware through Flashtool and root it via Giefroot ONLY (I know downgrading is boring and a bit harder, but that is still the safest method)
Kingroot is the simplest method, maybe not the most safe.
Giefroot is the longest, maybe the most safe.
Both of them have the same effect, root the phone.
No need to close the thread, I don't care Chinese developers need my IMEI to root my phone..
So if you agree with this idea, where is the problem? We are free to choose if we are informed to that.

The right thread with the right title and the right OP is already here:

That's why I suggested they close this one.

I can't see any information about risks inside the OP of this thread and that's the only post a noob usually reads!
Please search the meaning of the verb "to suggest": it's not imperative and gives freedom of choice.
In this case, this one already exists :

[ROOT ANDROID][2.x-5.0] KINGROOT: The One-Click Root Tool for Almost All Devices
Maybe, I suggest to close all double threads(or seems to be)... I suggest to all noob peoples to keep all questions for themselves... Great for a forum ! ?
Don't feel assaulted, just I think to ask a same question differently gives another answers, it depends who is asking and the point of view.
But you are right for the risks with IMEI.
We don't know if there is a risk or not, but it's just my opinion. ?
I think to help and share experiences are the good way.
✌
Rooted with kingroot, installed dual recovery and removed kingroot/kinguser with super-sume app (on play store).
All these steps with locked bootloader and last LP firmware
Hi all,
Just got my first Android phone (migrated from iOS to Windows Phone, now giving this a try).
It's a 2nd hand S5. Australian, Optus. Not sure if sim locked.
I reset the phone, and fully updated it (to 6.0.1)
It's got a truck load of bloatware on it, so I'd like to "fix" it. A mate pointed me here, but I really don't know where to start.
Ideally all I want is a completely clean OS, sim unlocked. Just a clean slate.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
just root it, install titanium backup, grant it root rights and uninstall all the [email protected] you dont want. Welcome to the smartphone fray btw! If my reply didnt make sense, there are tons of tutorials that describe what i said to do, or i can get FAR more detailed. I just fear spending 20 minutes typing stuff that people already know

Step 1 : Root it! Thanks.
There seems to be about 1000 ways to root it, though. Is this thread the "best" way?

I'm beginning to get frustrated with this one. Need help!!!!!
oh please ,you can download kingroot(not kingoroot) , on my g360f it works fine
Well it didn't work on my g360v.
Rooting sm-g360v
Yes you can root this phone i just bought one and rooted it with KINGOROOT but use the pc version it has shown to have more success and you may have to try a few times as the program i think trys different methods.......although i am going to warn you if like to customize your phone and flash roms through twrp and you got the phone from Verizon (which i think the sm-g360v is correct me if i am wrong) the bootloaders are locked so rooting it would be pointless bc as far as i know nobodys been able to find a way to unlock the bootloaders....which is why i quickly got rid the phone and went back to my old one.

Try King Root 4.9.6. (search kingroot xda in your search engine choose newest build) xda dev gatesjunior has an app on the playstore called SuperSuMe if kingroot bothers isn't your cup of tea
I got it rooted with 4.5.2 kingroot but it was partial so I had to unroot it now it just restarts and doesn't hold root.
"Spyware: KingRoot, KingoRoot, iRoot, etc
Hello everyone! I'd thought I'd make this sticky post to remind you that common one click root apps are known as spyware throughout the community. They gain root access and install bloat on your device. While some people plan to replace these with something such as SuperSU after using them, this method can't be trusted as they still had root access. If you used these it is suggested you flash the stock image for your device. I'd also like to say that whenever one of the 3 programs are now mentioned, AutoMod will automatically comment something similar to what I wrote above.
Sorry this is short but I wrote it during my school lunch period which is about to end. Feel free to ask any questions/add on to what I said below.
Edit: I will also like to add that SuperSU is no longer really trusted. As Chainfire has sold it and is no longer involved in its development. It is still more trustworthy than KingRoot and those apps, but people mainly use Magisk now."
So on all the threads on XDA forums the root instructions all use these spyware apps. What is the current method for rooting a hd fire 10 7th gen without spyware?
