I regret buying this phone every day I have it.
Verizon running 5.0.1
Anyone else have random reboots, erasing, reformat the SD card?

I have never run into any issues at all on my phone, sounds like you should either get a replacement or a new phone altogether. I'm running verizon 5.0.1 too.
I agreed 100%, 5.0 is so bad, I have to flash back to 4.4 which is definitely better, but still not up to the flagship standard Battery life is horrible even after I disabled 95% of the bloat ware. At least it less stutter than 5.0. Overall I am not happy with this phone. Now if we have unlocked bootloader, that would be a different story.

I can't even flash back! I will NEVER buy another Verizon branded phone again, nexus from here on out

Other than the screen, I pretty much hate mine. I'm not sure if it's the usual Samsung crap, Verizon's crap or I'm just sick of it.
Same here. After the update this phone is a 5.7 inch turd. Overheats, battery life sucks and it goes black constantly. I hate this thing and Verizon. I will buy unlocked unbranded phones from now on.
No problem with this phone, running 5.0.1 no root... no lag,,no black screen, disable a couple bloatware, no SD card problem....
Why is it so hit and miss I wonder? I'm gonna try to take it to verizon and have them reflash it completely and see if that helps cause right now it sucks so bad I can't trust it to even be reliable. I'll be getting a nexus 6p come Feb so I might not even bother.

PNY are horrible cards. I'd avoid them. They tend to break SD slots too.
I've been using a 32GB Sony card in mine and haven't had issue with it. I've never even removed it. It was ten bucks on amazon.
The point I was trying to make was, it doesn't matter what card it is, it's the phone that's the issue.
I don't even have a card in it anymore because it'll just get erased. I've had 4 different cards now, all same results
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
I know for a fact that if you go to a Best Buy with a Samsung kiosk. They have the capability to reflash your phone for you. Whether or not you get someone that will do it for you may be completely random, but my father had to have his reflashed by them and they did it without any problems.
Use the Verizon Repair Assistant if you can't find somebody to reflash it for you. Wouldn't the end result be effectively the same? I was having some battery issues that kept surviving a factory reset, once I used it, my phone was back to normal. It downloads the latest stock firmware from the net and flashes it. (PS- Take your SIM and SD card out when doing it, it jacked my SIM.)
----------------
As for my hate for this phone growing, I was going to go buy a new phone, but since I'm stuck on Verizon, it's all crap. I don't do LG or Motorola, so I nearly got an iPhone 6s Plus. Instead, I just picked up an Otterbox Symmetry (You can get Symmetry and Commuter cases for under 15 bucks right now.) case and a new Nillikin glass protector and I'm going to attempt to psychologically convince myself that it's a new phone. Hopefully I can play along for another six months or so.

No clue. I assume it is from when they inevitably burn out (the gold connectors turns black) while inside of the unit. I've had a camera and a netbook both fall victim to permanent damage after using PNY cards. I did some research online and apparently I'm not the only one. Not to mention they have a high failure rate themselves and PNY flash storage is pretty much known as garbage universally.

This is the best deal around and I've read nothing but good stuff about this brand Wintec 16GB Class 10 29.49
I'm not to sure if want to spend an extra £40 for 8GB more. So Those with 8GB, how is it?
On my Note 2 16GB I only get about 10GB for using, of which I have only used about 5GB and have 5GB remaining. On the 8GB version of the Nexus 4 how much do you get to play with?
Or is it simply not worth spending time worrying about space and just getting the 16GB?
I have 16GB version, and there is 12.92GB space to play with.
Dspends on how you use your phone, and what you want to store on it....
I would recommend getting 16GB, you may not need space now, but you could need it later on

+1, take a 16GB model or you`ll be sorry afterwards.
I'm using 8GB and it's sufficient for me since I throw my videos/music to my Nexus 7, so I keep only the apps I need on the phone.
However, with WhatsApp implementing the auto image download "feature", if you have contacts who are happy-go-lucky with pictures, you might have to do some house cleaning every now and then.
If you plan on using the N4 as a primary Android device, you'll likely want the 16GB. If you have a tablet however, you may only want certain apps on the N4, and 8GB may suffice in that case.
I plan on having my games on my N10 and "mobile" apps on my N4, so 8GB should be fine in that case for me. I know when I just had my 8GB N7, I found it a pain.
I have ~4gb free on a 8gb. I don't keep videos on my phone, I use pandora for music, I keep ~1gb of podcasts and I don't do any racing/fps gaming. I didn't go 16gb because I honestly didn't see the point, if I'm storing video/games 16gb is going to run out quickly as well (most of my movies are ~8gb and I'm not going to reencode/redownload just for my phone and a lot of the good FPS are 2+ gb.)
Thanks for the replies. I have just deleted the FPSE roms (I hadn't even used them) I had on my Note 2 and I am now only using just over 2GB. So maybe I'll be okay with 8GB.
To be honest I will only be getting one because it's cheap (compared to others), it's unlocked and it can be my device for when I feel like switching to Android.
So I'm selling my Note 2 and going back to the dark side if you like. Apple is calling my name again. But since I'm a switcher, getting a Nexus 4 will mean I can always come back when I want to.
I have no real preference over the two anymore, I like them both in different ways. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I just hate the effort I go through each time to switch. Having two devices will be the better idea.
I have a Nexus 7, which I'm going to give to my mum. But it doesn't offer what I was looking for, thanks to many apps not being available without rooting.
16 isn't enough for me I love Gameloft games though and like the nicer screen of the n4 as com paired to other phoned

16gb, it's worth the extra $50 as Google went way out of their way to force us to use cloud which I will not support. No sd support (it's too complicated for us ), no otg support for some reason lol.

I'd say it's worth the extra $50 for the 16GB model (to be safe) but I am currently on the 8GB model and it's working out just fine for me.
If you're ok with storing things in the cloud you'll be absolutely fine. My dropbox is setup to send all the pictures/videos I take on the phone to the cloud and I use google music to stream all my music. Both services work great and free up my phone for essentially just apps.
I bought the 8GB model from a dude from CL since he was selling cheap.
I don't put any music/videos on my phone so I manage fine for the most part.
Only negative I have is that I don't have as many nandroids as I usually would have.
Unlimited data is much welcomed.

No more than I already know about it, I most certainly would choose it over my note. It can be customized and who the heck wouldn't want cyanogen!?
OFC not!
It doesn't have a uSD slot.
I would get it even though it's missing an sd card slot, too bad it has an invite system to purchase the phone. Here's a quote from the Android Authority article:
"The big caveat here is that the OnePlus One will be offered through an invite system. This means that each buyer will receive a number of invites that they can send over to friends, while more invites will be made available through contests and giveaways. Considering the low price of the device, we fully expect high demand for it, so you may have to be patient for a time."
I'm planning to buy it if I can get invite. It's a beast for how much it cost. Won't be a replacement for my note but great to have and use as back up.

Negative. I desire the expansion of storage since I have a lot of music and use my phone's as an MP3 player as well. Plus, I was planning on getting the Note 4 but with the way all of this bootloader garbage is going, that might change. I'm so close to ditching all of this locked-up B.S. It's very old.
Thinking about it... Hoping to be one of the lucky 100!

I've been having nothing but problems with my Note 3... Since day 1 it would make my caller's voice echo when not on speaker phone. Got that fixed and now I'm running into more issues. I've had my replacement for a little less than 2 weeks now and my data just randomly drops. Shows no signal but still can make calls. After the 4.2.2 update my screen was unresponsive. I had to pull the battery. And the list goes on and on.
If it wasn't an invite system I'd sell this Note in a heartbeat and buy the OnePlus One. It's sad because I loved my Note 2 and had zero issues with it. This one just seems to be nothing but problems.... Maybe because I've always had a black phone, this is my first white one. They say once you go black you never go back
The average person won't be able to buy the phone for about two months.
Also, keep in mind some other things.
1) No HDMI output capability
2) No MicroSD card
3) No removable battery
4) No APT-X Bluetooth Codec
5) LCD panel won't be able to get as dim as Note 3
6) New company, new design, new/rushed production
7) Taller phone with .2" smaller screen
8) No IR remote capability
With that said, the factory supported CyanogenMOD & unlocked bootloader is to me, a HUGE deal.
And the 64GB version (at $349) negates my need for MicroSD.
The only thing I'd really, really miss after that would be the removable battery.
If the phone were available today, I'd have already bought one.
Whether it would replace my Note 3 is a big question mark.
Let's all hope this phone takes off like crazy. If it does, then maybe Samsung & AT&T will rethink their locked bootloader thing. Or at least, offer a developers edition that you don't have to pay full retail up-front for, like you do with the VZW phones.
wonder how they are getting away with using that slogan
I'm definitely buying it

Don't get me wrong. I love my SD card. But with a 128gb phone, I think its doable to me personally. I current have a note 4 with 128gb SD card. Definitely don't have it maxed out. But I could see if someone had a bunch of movies it would be. Really you are losing 32gb with the note 5. I think I can handle that. If it was just 64gb I would be completely out.
Edit: Guess you will lose more than 32gb one you take in account the amount needed for the OS...

Last yr when the note 4 launched, with an upgrade, and handing in my old eVo 4g lte, It cost $100+ tax and activation. 2 weeks later picked up a 128 gb card on eBay for $110. So maybe around $250 for a 160 gb note 4 fully feature packed. Everyone this yr should just keep their note 4 or go get one if they don't.

I'm not planning to get one, but I have to say that if I had all the money in the world, I'd get several. Of course, if I had all the money in the world, Samsung wouldn't have any money to produce them.
I always buy the most storage option, I use it. Especially on the Note, use it for work and use, save & sign documents. Not only that but if U sell it the phone will be worth the most. (If that matters)
Hope that it's ok now
There's absolutely no other phone I want, so I'm seriously considering not turning my phone in and continuing to use it. Plus I'm not at all happy with the compensation of a $25 credit. What I would deem fair is allowing me to "use" an S7e or ANY phone I want until a suitable replacement phone (S8, Note 8, etc.) becomes available and then turning in the loaner for the better phone. Anyway... anyone else going to chance it and just keep on using their Note 7?

I really like the phone. But, it's not worth risking my life and property for.
Just got my replacement in the mail last Thursday. It's been working just fine. Doesn't get hot or anything with heavy use. I'm going to continue using my revised note 7 till they try to force me to deactivate it
Ive had a rough time getting a replacement, so ive been looking into the pixel xl or just snag a nexus 6p for cheap. Its not worth risking to me.

I'm going to keep mine because I have not had any issues and do not want to get a new phone. This mostly due to how terrible the corporate sprint store near me is. I had to go into the store 3 times to get a replacement.
The only problem (aside from the whole catching fire thing) is I doubt they'll be working on any software updates for the Note 7 now. No Nougut for the Note 7?

I upgraded from a Note 3 to a Note 7. I need a Note with Micro SD card slot. I went on Ebay today and bought the best Note 4 I saw as a backup plan. I still have the original recalled Note 7 and plan to keep it for now. But like kstephens98 said, it won't get updates. And who's gonna wanna continue development here? I think I'll probably use the Note 4 until (hopefully) the Note 8 comes out. I just hope I can still get a full refund if it comes down to that. There's no other new phone out there that I would be interested in.
there is no competition.
i'll hold it until they have another fixed batch or until the Note 8.

As much as this comment exactly describes how i feel i have to return the phone. This is the hsrdest decision. Even harder than returning the first one cause last tine i knew it would be conning back. But it is now giing to be gone forever.
The main reasons are these
1) the phone cost $900. If i keep it i cannot get a new one probably ever.
2) development Will be non existent.
3) no resale value at all in the rare chance i could afford another one.
4) my husband will refuse to let me keep it even if i wanted to ignore 1-3
I was hoping for a new batch but from what I've read Samsung has officially dropped the note 7 all together.

Just an FYI just got this tidbit from Sprint Chat:
"Daniel M:*You can check the availability of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with our Telesales team as the device is not available online and we are trying to get it back soon but any date is not confirmed."
was also confirmed by Telesales
If they get the note 5 back, I'd take that. I honestly don't think PHYSICALLY the note 7 is that different. On top of that, the Note 5 is honestly the best alternative. As sad as it is to say that a year old phone is the best alternative...it really, honestly is. I can deal without the USB-C, I can even deal with the lack of SD Card support(I haven't used an SD card in ages as long as there's a 64gb version). The water resistance would be nice...but after owning the S5, it was more.....convenient than anything. The "IF it drops in the water I don't have anything the worry about" feeling. I took underwater pics once just to say I did and could but....not like I'm gonna go swimming with that bad boy in my pocket lol.
Lastly, and most importantly for me, is the S-Pen. Unlike a good number of people, I actually use my....a lot. Which I find either people use it A LOT, or never lol. Anyway, if/when the Note 5 becomes available again, then I'll go back to that. But this Note 7 really was the PERFECT phone.
Water Resistance
S-Pen
AMAZIN screen to body ratio
iris scanner is way more functional than I anticipated
just the right about of edge on the screen
THE SCREEN PERIOD lol
the camera was near flawless in my opinion
everything about this phone......
If only Samsung wouldn't have rushed things. I think this phone would have beat out the iPhone anyway. Thing is, people who buy iPhones, buy iPhones. Getting them to switch is difficult because they're usually invested in apple products. iPads, Macbooks, lightning adapters, etc. People who buy Android phones are usually invested in it. Samsung people usually have Samsung Tablets, enjoy the gmail/google apps integration, enjoy the mass amount of free apps from the app store lol. This makes me want to cry lol
Went ahead and exchanged mine for an S7 Edge. It's a very nice phone too. Plus I didn't use the S-Pen like I thought I would.
In addition, Got two free gifts for my first note and my replacement note and now I've been approved for my S7 Edge. Three gifts, one purchase.
Anyone thinking of trading it in and doing the gift thing, sorry, it ended Oct 9th I believe.

They would end it just before they got destroyed with people switching and double dipping lol
I am going to keep mine. I still have my old Note 5, 4 and 3 so I have options.
Just got a text from sprint giving me 15 days to return my note to avoid a non return fee

ugh. I am going to call the corp guys tomorrow when I have time to ask what they are going to let me get away with. I am leaning like some others to the LG V20, but since it doesn't come out until the 28th it's outside a 15 day window. Would go without phone/phone payments and a Note 4 I pick up used for now if it meant using my upgrade later.
already sent my old phone back to them, as required to not get charged. So can't go back to that. After thinking about it, the S7 or S7E is a horrible choice since they will be replaced soon and then I'll be pissed I just got an old model.

Ditto....like most of you I'm paying the extra few bucks a month to upgrade with each new release so I'll hang on to my 7 til Sammy drops a new flagship.

I am going to keep using mine. There is NOTHING else that is even close to the Note 7. All of us who own the phone knows it is the sweetest one out there. I had considered the LG V20, but I would feel as though I had an inferior phone; judging by the reviews.
The reason I am here today is to root the phone to prevent Samsung from sending some type of kill update.
