IR remote for Shield TV with Full Android 5.1 - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
unfortunately I can't post direct to the thread of the Full Android 5.1 rom for the nvidia shield TV.
With this rom wifi for the original remote is disabled.
Therefore I'm looking for a replacement which should be quite small like the original one.
Could someone suggest one which I can use together with Plex. I know I can use DroidMote but I don't have an Android mobile phone (I'm using iPhone 5s).
An IR-keyboard is working but it's to big which I have.
So I someone can suggest one it would be grateful. Or does anybody know how I can get an Apple remote working with Android 5.1?
Thanks in advance
Huberer

After some searching I found a suggestion about using an Amazon Fire TV Stick remote. There's also a youtube video which shows how to set up. Now I made my decision and bought this remote.
Just for info.

If someone is interested. Here is the youtube-video which I mentioned before.

Thanks for the video link mate.

You're welcome. Got my remote yesterday and installed it within seconds. Works perfect.

Remote Control?

Can someone please recommend me a really good remote control for the Ouya?
I mostly use Ouya for XBMC and I really hate the Ouya controller, but would like to use a remote control to control the Ouya's main menu & XBMC. Does a remote controller exist for the ouya?

I would think if you found a Bluetooth remote you could make it work

I am holding off on a remote until after the next ouya firmware update. They specifically say they are working on HDMI-CEC next ...this feature works great on my raspberry pi xbmc, I just use my TV remote to control xbmc and tv seamlessly
CEC sounds awesome. but - "CEC wiring is mandatory, although implementation of CEC in a product is optional." - does that mean that the TV has to support it, or the ouya has to have it? or both? (i.e. is the new tv I bought last month already out of date?!)
I have been using a cheap Rii BT kbd/trackpad. the trackpad is fairly awful, just all over the place. which is surprising since it works 100% perfect when paired to Windoze laptop. the ouya controller touchpad, in comparison, is nearly perfect.
also been trying one of those PS3 BT+IR remotes - no luck so far, even with all the helpful guides.
I think the main problem is using typical android apps, and also the more-usual android launchers. the sticks/buttons on the ouya controller are often (surprisingly) non-functional when using xbmc or actual android apps (including the settings menu). whereas a BT or USB kbd/mouse is occasionally non-functional using the default ouya UI.
thanks everybody for your replies.
I ended up following this guide http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?8670-PS3-BD-Remote-XBMC
And now I'm currently using my PS3 Bluetooth Remote Control (which was collecting dust since I haven't used it in years) which works far superior than I ever hoped for. It works flawlessly through the Ouya interface and XBMC

Both devices must support it. Almost all recent name brand TV support it i believe although they call it different names ie:Sony call it BraviaLink

Questions for Mojo Stock Android Version

Hello anyone out there
I have a few questions for people out there who own a Mojo.
I'm interested in getting one to use Moonlight(Or GameStream) to gamestream to my TV through Ethernet from my PC.
The price is pretty decent however I have a few lingering questions.
Using Kodi (XMBC) for android, is it possible to get DTS passthrough on the MOJO, through HDMI? I'd like to test this so I can ensure my reciever can playback DTS content through Kodi.
How is your Kodi experience running the machine as always on.
Is anyone out there using the Mojo for gamestream/Moonlight content from PC to TV? If so what issues have you had?
Has anyone experimented with getting Xposed up and running on the box (there by allowing you to map power on and off..etc to the controller as well as any other functions?)
Thanks
Seven
Here are some of your answers. I did get Xposed up and running, but no mapping ON/OFF to a button.

Its a pity because I decided against buying one of these, despite I would have loved to develop some stuff for this console.
What I really wanted to know is how people's experience was with Moonlight, given that with Tegra 4 there should be like 8ms latency max for streaming games from PC to Android
Hi,
Unfortunately hdmi audio passthrough does not work at least on stock firmware.... the only I got after messing with Kodi settings was "white noise".
I suppose it is not Mojo fault but more stock android fault/lack of feature.
Adding to that, automatic refresh rate change (eg. for 24p materials) doesn't work also. This makes Mojo maybe not useless but not enough featurefull to be full home cinema android solution.
Greets,
Tomek

Does HBO Go work on the Shield Android TV

Hi guys, there is a Android TV version of HBO Go. Is it working for You guys that might have it?
I have Zulu's Full Android ROM on my Shield Android TV and normally I can use either Phone apps or Android TV apps, it has full support for the Shield Remote or I can use my Air Mouse.
The problem I have with HBO Go is, first of all, the app does not seem to fit the screen properly even if I force landscape. Second the air mouse or the Shield Remote does not seem to be able to click the menus. Could be I guess because the screen is not fitting properly?
I would like to know if it's a problem with this ROM or if people using the stock ROM have the same issue

Mirror Axon 7 screen to TV

Hi All,
I've tried looking for a solution and a similar thread but maybe I missed it. I'm trying to mirror my phone's image to my TV anyway possible so when my parents(or whomever) wants to video chat with my 15 monthold daughter, we can have a bigger screen instead of my phone (which she trys to grab and press buttons). I use WeChat and FB messenger for video chats .
- I've thought about buying the chromecast device but not sure if that will mirror the phone screen.
- I've thought about buying a HDMI cable that has a USB-C to plug into the phone but also not sure if that'll work bc someone said its not MHL compatible (not sure what that means).
- Also looked into screen mirroring apps but it can't find my smart TV (westinghouse) even though its on the same network. I think its the TV but I could be wrong.
Any solution is appreciated. I just want it to work.
Thanks

Chromecast will mirror the display...
Other sticks like fire TV stick also...
HDMI output isn't realized for axon 7 I think, searched Google for it long time and didn't find a working guide...

Also try built in function. When you have smart TV connected to the same Wi-Fi look in display settings.
I can confirm that my axon 7 mirrors to my roku 3 and my firestick
@scratchstick,, A2017G has no this function yet, so you may try Chromecast or fire TV stick.
I can use Miracast to Fire TV and the Microsoft Miracast stick via MrMD69 screenshot. Just wish they have a cast button on the slide down. Also, I noticed that casting on the Axon 7 is quite poor compared to my other phones (Zenfone 3 and CM1), often with blocks and freezing video.

Shield TV - Airplane mode possible?

Hi Folks!
I am looking into getting an affordable android box that will be able to use the dolphin emulator, so 2015 shield came to mind.
I control my android box with keyboard and mouse exclusively and would like to turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi completely for low EMF output.
Is this known to be possible on the shield? I'm aware the remote uses one or the other of these.
If so- how can it be done? If not- is there another similarly powerful box that can do it?
Thank you so much already!
There's this thing called the Raspberry Pi...

yeah, thought about it. sadly not really strong enough for emulation of newer consoles. Theres LineageOS, too- maybe using that on the shield, BT and WiFi can be disabled- Someone with a shield could test that.
