I lost my usb type c to a cable so i bought one online from amazon. I am trying to root my device. but adb or fastboot is not recognized. I tried to set usb mode to file transfer but it always goes back to charging, Any trouble shooting? Is it the cable or drivers? I downloaded the latest sdk and installed the driver. I am running windows 10 btw. Also My 6p has yellow exclamation mark in the device manager section for the drivers. I tired to update the drivers but doesnt seem to change it.
Read this please. http://www.androidheadlines.com/201...usb-type-c-for-nexus-5x-6p-compatibility.html. Read instructions in the app very carefully.
It sounds like your Amazon cable may have a floating cc wire, or is otherwise out of specification. If you could check the cable using that app, it might help narrow down the issue.
If the cable checks out, make sure you have USB debugging on in dev options.
Beyond that, I'm not sure.

Yeah i dont think the cord is working, On the app it flashes green than goes back to saying plug up the phone. The phone also stops charging. It charges when I plug it up to wall charger although.
If your drivers are correct you might want to try putting your phone in PTP mode instead of MTP. My phone will work with one of my computers when data transfer is enabled but only works with picture transfer on the other. Not sure why.

I'm trying to get the one click lag fix 2.0 onto my phone. However I've run into quite a few problems. Everything was fine, I was having no problems with connecting to my computer. However when I connected the USB cable again, the phone receives power from the cable but neither the phone or laptop recognize each other. I tried doing all sorts of things (turning on USB debugging and all that) but to no avail. I decided to try to do the factory reset. While the phone was rebooting the "Found new hardware" bubble popped up and it recognized it but as soon as everything was loaded it was gone.
Then I tried restarting it with USB debugging off and it DID recognize it. However once I restart it like that there is no way to turn USB debugging back on without disconnecting it... and once i do that and activate USB debugging, the phone is not recognized again.
This has been a pretty frustrating ordeal and I have tried it on multiple PCs. I am using the stock cable that came with the phone...
Any ideas?
Same thing happens to me. Stock cable would show up as a device when plugged into multiple computers. I swapped phones but I'm sure its just a cable issue.

Have you downloaded the latest USB driver for the phone from samsung's website?
What OS are you using?
Make sure you plugged your USB cable into USB 2.0.
Also, make sure the USB sliding door is fully opened and locked. The door on the phone could prevent a good connection from taking place.

Yes, I do have the latest driver.
I have tried doing this on both Mac (snow leopard) and windows XP (different laptops).
All the connections are good and they are all certainly usb 2.0.
Hi guys, I have this really weird issue occurring. I have my note 3 connected to my computer via usb, but it does not stay connected. My computer keeps making a noise of new device connected, then disconnected. The phone connects, few secs later, disconnects. I have tried 3 different usb, 1 is the original,, different usb ports. It cant be the cable tho, cause it charges fine, and i wiggled it while charging. I let the drivers install when i first plugged the n3 in, so those should be good.
Any idea? could it be a ROM issue? Really need it to work, since I use tethering (

It could be the data pins in the cable/phone, the power pins would still let it charge even though there's still supposed to be energy going through the data pins when charging. And have you selected a different option when plugging it into the computer (from installer, media device, to camera) from the options that note 3 provides? (click the icon in the status bar when you plug it in)
yea i tried camera, its on installer by default i think and i tried mtp also, usb3.0 said it required airplane mod so i didnt try that. How could i check the pins>

Well it you look at the port and they're not bent or snapped then it isn't the pins. What about USB 2.0?
Will try 2.0 tomorrow, here is a pic of the pins, if you zoom in do they look ok?

What OS is your computer running? There are some USB issues with windows 8.1. I was having the same problem at times but there was a fix in optional updates that have seemed to clear things up for now. I think it's the download numbered...2914219. I'm not completely sure as I did a few weeks ago.
Just for the record, I have had trouble with certain cables in the past. Sometimes computer didn't like a long cable.
Pins are absolutely fine, only reason I even mentioned those was because one time a little kid plugged my streak 7 cord in upside down and jacked the female port to crap. And as TheAfroSamurai mentioned it might be your computer, I had trouble with a long cable with my kin 2. Different cable fixed it for me.

Hello, I have both a new Galaxy S5 and a recently installed Windows 7 64bit PC.
I just bought an USB3 cable and tried it: when I plug the cable in an USB2 port, all works as expected (Windows warns the device can go faster if connected to an USB3 port); when I plug the cable to an USB3 port, the phone says connected to USB, message disappears, appears again and then definitely goes away (just charging); Windows says the device is not recognized.
I asked where I bought the cable and they changed it with a new one, but the effect is the same.
I tried installing latest Samsung USB drivers (1.5.51.0) without succcess.
The phone is not rooted.
Can you please assist in solving the problem?
Thank you!
USB 3.0 drivers installed for the motherboard?
How can I check? Windows says the device can go faster with USB3, maybe this means they are installed?
Go to your motherboard manufacturers website, drivers section, and look for USB3.0 drivers
For mine they are called ASMedia_USB3
Windows saying they can go faster with USB 3.0 just means windows has detected a USB3.0 device
Ok, I went to Lenovo Thinkpad download section and installed Interl USB3 drivers; I'm going to reboot
If that doesn't work, check your BIOS for USB3.0 settings, see if there is anything in there you can tweak
No luck...
I'm not sure it is on the PC side: I tried an USB3 mass storage device and it goes faster...
Maybe the cable is faulty then, or not up to USB3.0 standards
Is it a genuine S5 USB3.0 cable, or something from ebay or somewhere?
It is from "somewhere", but this is the second one with the same problem, chances are lower...
Second one from the same place?
Worth trying a genuine cable, the most likely culprit is a cheap cable from 'somewhere' rather than a PC or an S5
I'll try as soon as I find one!
What I wanted to check was if there's anything to "enable" on the phone or Windows.
Not that I know of, although I've not used a USB3.0 cable on my S5 yet - I haven't seen anything in the phone settings, and I know that my PC USB3.0 works fine without doing anything other than installing the drivers
@pdario
Please check you marked in phone 3.0 mod.
(when you plug to 3.0 usb port, you have option in phone to choose USB 3.0 mod)
Work?
The phone does not say it is connected to USB, it only shows it's charging.
So that the problem.
Unistall all android devices drivers you have, then plug the galaxy s5
How can I uninstall all the drivers? Where do I find them?

I'm trying to unlock boot loader and root my device, But for some reason when I plug my nexus player into my computer no drivers get installed and under device manager there is no android device or anything of that nature under any of the categories. I've made sure developer debugging and USB debugging are enabled and turned on, but nothing seems to work. I even installed google usb drivers if that has anything to do with it. So does anyone know why its not showing up?

Most likely it's the USB cable or OTG cable, one of the two could be faulty. Another thing, try different USB ports on your PC. Try turning the USB debugging on and off several times, USB cable and OTG cable must be attached to your PC, while doing this. Remember now, your PC must also be authorized for the connection. You should see a white pop up, just check mark the block, click on OK.

Yes try different USB ports and different USB cables. My PC didn't recognize the NP when using the front USB ports, but it works fine when using the back ports.

It shows up if I turn debugging on and off a lot but when restarting while rooting it wont show up again and I think this is the reason my rooting isnt working right could that be a problem?
Purchased this HU:
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...747116176.html
So far it works great. I really like it and its a huge improvement over my first 4.4.4 HU as I can use the ENTIRE 16 GB for storage.
Unfortunately even still I am running into one problem. I cannot get any USB HUB I plug into it to become detected. If I plug a USB Flash Drive DIRECTLY into the USB plug of the Head Unit, it becomes detected and works right away. If I plug it in behind ANY USB Hub, the unit does not see the flash drive. It also does not see the USB HUB. What could be going wrong and is there anything I can do to fix it? My older Android 4.4 unit could use the same USB HUB right before I de-installed it so I know the HUB's are still functional.
maybe not enough power. Can you try a powered hub?
I'll try this, Something weird happens. When I turn the car off and reboot the radio by turning the car back on, the USB hub will be seen as long as it was plugged in when I turned the car off. If not, it wont work. Also it will only see 1 flash drive instead of 2. What gives?

That really sounds like a power supply issue. If the head unit can find the hub *ever*, then it means it has the needed driver for it.

So I tested by powering my USB Hub to an AC Outlet charged by an wall in my garage with an extension cable and made sure the USB Hub lit up before I turned my car / stereo on so I verified it was receiving power but unfortunately this did not help at all. It made no difference.
What seems to be happening more specifically now is this.
When I plug USB Flash Drives behind a USB HUB, only ONE Flash Drive gets detected, the rest do not. And by that I cannot even mount them as they are not listed in storage, only USB 1. Now USB 1 does not ever take a single specific flash drive, it is random. Sometimes when I crank it, it will be one flash drive, other times it will take another flash drive, but always listed as USB 1. Other devices such as my mouse and keyboard behind my USB Hub are working no issues.
What else could be the problem?

Well that's not a driver issue at all. That's an issue with the way Android (read: chinese butchered Android) picks and mounts a USB disk. They are actually *ALL* working, from a driver point of view.

I see. So it's not mounting properly. Is there anything I can do about this? I would like to be able to use more than 1 USB storage device at a time.
