[Q] Moto X Pure MM and T-Mobile, Band 12 and VoLTE - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This issue is RESOLVED!!

Anyone have band 12 working and if so, which ROM and method of flashing did you use?
I am stuck on band 4 but do have VoLTE showing in the settings, just unable to test it so far.
Thanks in advance!

Can you screenshot the VoLTE settings? I flashed the OTA (sideloaded) but I don't see an option for VoLTE unless it's the setting for "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode".

It is Enhanced 4G LTE Mode of in not mistaking.

I am still yet to see band 12 come up, even while in Orlando which I know has 12 active. Anyone know if there is some provisioning possibly missing?

I am also unable to get band 12 support in Houston on TMobile. Coworker with a Galaxy s6 can get band 12 but I cannot. Have tried the odexed debloated rooted version of MM, stock MM which I then flashed to be rooted and the TruPureXMM rom, but all of them show as using band 4 when checking using LTE Discovery.

Is your signal better? If the phone is using carrier aggregation between 4&12 then it is likely it would only does 4.

No signal improvement, but I'll check and see it it switches over to 12 at my work tomorrow. Coworkers S6 picks up band 12. Also, I went to A&M and am in Houston too. Do you happen to be around the memorial area and pick up Band 12?

So anyone actually with a custom rom is being able to access band12? So far looks like only people on stock not rooted have it.

I pickup band 12 in the memorial area at work. However, I am currently using the Nexus 6p. I am following this thread because I want to get back to the moto x, but need band 12. I want to switch, but need signal at work. I had the moto x at launch, but without any definite release of band 12 I returned it.

As far as I am seeing now people who got the OTA/sideloaded it without custom ROM are being able to access band12.
I tried both MM roms and my imei SV is always at 01 - just like on LP which does not allow me to accesss b12.

Anyone found a solution? makes me wonder how custom roms even odexed somehow disable band12.
Maybe once we get the factory images for 6.0 (like the indian firmware) have it already it should be ok or better.
@btafoya did you find a solution yet?

I have a stock rooted Odexed "slightly modified" MM with Band 12 working (and Android Pay).
(my SV is showing 02)
- Restore to stock manually (avoid restoring recovery and last 2 steps: erase user data and flash userdata.img) to avoid erasing you personal data and apps
- Flash OTA manually (in my case I do it in TWRP, stock recovery works too)
- Reboot
- Install and setup Android Pay
- Root using Chainfire's kernel autopatcher SuperSU 2.60
- Apply mods (no increasing ringtone)
- Reboot
- Setup AdAway
Root, No Ads, Band 12, Android Pay, all working.

I flashed the latest build on my Verizon device no issues. There isn't any ROM specific things for the nexus 6,. even though google says its tmobile only on their website. I think thats because maybe itllbe the only wifi calling supported ROM they release for the nexus 6.

LYZ28E (T-Mobile image) radio is MDM9625_104649.09.05.14R
LMY47D (Verizon OTA) radio is MDM9625_104446.01.02.98R
And the previous builds have even lower build numbers. Pretty sure the T-Mobile image/OTA radio is newer. Not that that makes it necessarily better, to be sure.
So this isn't specific to Tmobile? - Been waiting for this for AGES!!

I can only judge by the filename
LYZ28E: radio-shamu-d4.01-9625-05.14+fsg-9625-02.93
LMY47I: radio-shamu-d4.0-9625-02.95
LMY47E: radio-shamu-d4.0-9625-02.98 (This was the Verizon Build)
LMY47D: radio-shamu-d4.0-9625-02.95
While the LMY47x Builds have a radio image of 83.4MB, the LYZ28E Radio is "only" 65.9MB
Not sure whether something missing or new compression algorithm
I'm just wondering where the open international images are at. Isn't very nexus for a us carrier to get them first.

I was wondering the same thing since all Nexus are the same. I am guessing that WiFi calling only works for T-Mobile so any other prepaid carrier that tries to use WiFi calling won't work, and since Google doesn't want any confusion they release it for only Tmo
Since I've been using it I haven't even seen a WiFi calling option

Moto E 2015 CDMA (Sprint, XT1526) custom rom frustrations and woes!

Okay, so I wasted 7 hours last night to find out that CDMA surnia (XT1526) has no good custom roms that support LTE and wifi tether working.
My XT1526 (Sprint/Boost) has following problems.
I started with fully stock, OTA updated Lollipop 5.1, Sprint Moto E 2015 (XT1526).
For my preparation, I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and rooted.
1. Wifi tether is not working for XT1526 Stock OTA Android 5.1 rooted.
a. Before root, tried tether_dun_required 0, but still no data coming through even when hotspot is connected.
b. Rooted and tried Wif Tethering. Same, hotspot works but no internet access for my computer.
c. Tried methods here promising that it works for XT1526. But doesn't work for me.
d. Tried custom roms to see if they have Wifi tether fix embedded.
2. There is no single custom rom that has LTE working.
a. Latest CM12.1 has problem with XT1526 CDMA LTE connections.
b. I was getting no data connection. But I was able to make a call.
3. Tried going back to stock firmware 5.1 Lollipop.
a. Tried that fastboot commands but even it says successfully flashed, I get bootloop.
3. Went back to stock firmware 5.0.2, retaining unlocked bootloader using guide here.
a. Now I am not receiving OTA for 5.1 as I did when I just bought the phone recently.
b. Everything else works. LTE is connecting fast and reliably.
c. Wifi Tether is now not evening tuning on. Says I need to have hotspot plan with carrier.
d. For Stock 5.0.2., tether_dun_required 0 doesn't stick. It reverts to 1 when rebooted.
I am planning to try again with root+custom recovery while at 5.0.2.
Now I am downgraded to 5.0.2 and wifi tether still not working!!
XT1526 (Boost) works fine out of the box on all CM/CM based roms as of late September. It's the Sprint and VMU variants that are still being worked on. @superR over at AF has deodexed and debloated official firmware that runs fine on both Boost and Sprint devices along with a flashable hotspot fix.

Oh having debloated official firmware would be nice.
I tried to search for superR's post in XDA but couldnt find the rom for surnia.
Can you tell me what AF is? is that a website?

AF is android forums, I'm pretty sure. When you go to that website, just type in moto e 2015, under the rooting section, you will find the ROMs. Good luck!

Android Nougat [7.1] available for all Snapdragon variant Note 4

Guys, Android Nougat 7.1 is now available for all Snapdragon variant Galaxy Note 4s (which of-course include N910P Sprint variant) and as a result, I'm sharing here the link of the thread from where you can get an insight about the latest development of the ROM & other things.
The link is :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/development/cyanogenmod-14-1-t3495231
Kindly thank & support @hsbadr for all his hard work & time devotion for the ROM.
(I'm in no way to be associated with this ROM as this is solely the work of @hsbadr. All the credit goes to him for it).
The ROM works quite well on unlocked variant of N910P model with a GSM SIM Card.
Users on a Sprint network need to check about the feasibility of the ROM.
If anyone is interested in trying out the ROM, then kindly thanks @hsbadr & have a look at the below mentioned steps that I took to make it work on my N910P model using a GSM SIM Card.
1. This ROM even works on newest PJ1 bootloader & baseband. So, you can try it out without worries if you have taken the latest OTA update.
2. Perform a full nandroid backup of the current ROM.
3. Wipe all the partitions 3 times (except Micro SD Card) using latest TWRP recovery.
4. Download the ROM, GApps & Boot.img from the above thread mentioned & flash it in the following order:
a. ROM
b. GApps
c. Boot.img
5. Wait for the ROM to boot (it may take upto 15-20 minutes to boot, so be patient).
6. Complete the setup.
7. Enjoy Nougat on your device. :good:
Bug(s) that I've encountered:
1. YouTube videos have no sound on Bluetooth headset/plugs.
Kindly keep all the discussions related to N910P variant on this thread only so as to keep that thread clean.
The ROM is primarily meant for Verizon variant but works well with other variants too.
Will def have to check this out, Thanks!

It might work. Go & check yourself.
I'm using this ROM. The boot.img is not necessary to flash. Just flash the ROM and gapps like any other CM variant. I use sprint and had to fiddle with the *#*#4636#*#* menu for data/SMS to work and have to toggle airplane after a reboot but for an early build it's great. Battery has been wonderful. Other than the mentioned streaming issue (issue isn't present when streaming over Bluetooth) I've only run into GPS being fickle.

For me, the audio did not work with or without a Bluetooth headset.
Now, I'm not able to place any call (without any Bluetooth device) even when there is good network.
Also, Couldn't hear any voice even on Chrome, but yes, for an early build, the work is definitely amazing by the developer.

I downloaded the Verizon variant & not the T-Mobile variant (Though I'm using a GSM SIM). So, you can try Verizon or the T-Mobile as the ROM is basically all-variant one.

The build is unified, naming is just set to Verizon on everything. Device will show as N910V instead of P but that's fixable in build.prop. I haven't updated to the latest build, still using the trlte myself as daily driver.

Thanks, I finally seen that info in change log. But from what I've read in last few post, it looks like latest build has some extra bugs. So i think I'll try the trlte build for now.
That's what i took from it anyhow.
Does it matter which gapps i use? (Eg. Aroma, full, micro?)
I'm heading to work, so when i get more time I'll try, and maybe try root and exposed.

Don't believe xposed works on 7.1 yet, root hasn't been an issue at all for me. I did flash supersu 2.78 though instead of using the cm root. For gapps I used the micro since it was small to avoid conflicts but still had exchange included.
Not sure if it effects just the N910P model or not, but trying to access any .webm files crashes the entire phone. I can't even open the gallery up or it crashes.

What is a webm file? I'll test on mine if I can get one.
I just got around to installing. Anyone else having problems using root with default file manager? I can't open any thing but internal. But fx file works with root.
So it must be file manager
I downloaded the CM 14.1 and it works fine but I couldn't download gapps from github because for me this site downloads don't work.
So I didn't test a lot of things just make some calls (CDMA Carrier) and take some tour in system settings then I returned to Touchwiz rom again.

Is anyone successfully running Nougat with Verizon?

I want to use Nougat on my HTC 10. I have the verizon version of the phone, but don't mind converting to any other version if necessary (or just easier) to move to Nougat.
I've been reading for days, but can't find any solid, complete information on how to do this, or really if even possible. I've found lots of pieces of the puzzle, but nothing that lists the steps, or requirements for making this work.
If you know how to get a Verizon phone working on Nougat firmware and have a working phone and data, I'd love to know EXACTLY how you managed to do so. If I can't have advanced calling right now, that's okay with me, but I do need a working phone and data at a minimum.
I've installed PMEUHL_2.28.401.9 firmware and LeeDroid_ROM_Nougat_HTC10_R21, but had to change the phone to SuperCID 1111111 to get it to install. I also had to change the firmware packages' android.txt file to have the MID match the phone (MID2PS650000).
I have everything running, but have no phone or data, so I'm stuck with wifi only at this point.
I don't mind if I have to wipe the phone again to get it working (I'd rather not), so long as I can use the phone on Verizon again.
Is it possible I just need to flash the verizon radio at this point, or do I just need to start from scratch?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Have you tried formatting data?
In TWRP > wipe > format data > (type) yes
(do at own risk, it won't hurt anything, just will wipe your internal. you ARE warned)
------------------
Side note, Advanced Calling only works on one ROM, and that is @santod040 amazing port found here
I run SuperCID all the time, It's suggested to do 22222222 instead of 11111111 but not a biggie at all.
I run Verizon firmware with multirom. I have my stock ROM as primary (this is a must) and then I can flash any N ROM as a secondary.
I have ICE N ROM, Leedroid N ROM, Santods ROM, AOKP MM and CM 14.1 all loaded up and working great with data.
----------------
As for what you want,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70104011&postcount=3
You could wait a little bit longer for it to be released. It's not far away.
For NuSense ROM do we still need to install with data unencrypted? I assume so because I don't think TWRP is updated for Android N. Thanks.
I'm on the new viper 4.3.1 which is N based without upgrading firmware. everything working pretty well and has great tweaks and theming. Give it a shot.
wifi calling and video calling seem to be bugged but the advanced calling is active for hd voice
id do it this way until Verizon updates, itll be soon.
Might just stay on MM, Idk I'm torn. If NuSense has VZW features working bug free I'll give that a shot

For NuSense ROM do we still need to install with data unencrypted? I assume so because I don't think TWRP is updated for Android N. Thanks.

On the Downloads tab of the HTC 10 TWRP thread, there is an unofficial version of TWRP v3.0.2.7 which supports Nougat firmware. If you're still on Marshmallow firmware and use a Nougat ROM on it, you still might want to use the official TWRP v3.0.2.6.

You can be on the phone, and at the same time, use data?
Ex: GPS while using the phone or browsing play store while on a call

Just because the LTE icon is there doesn't mean it's working. Try making a call and browsing the play store.

When I was running N I couldn't browse the web and be on a phone call simultaneously. Also, HD calling and video calling did work for me. This was on LeeDroid N and I also tried Viper 2.4.0 with the same results.
Viper Nougat 4.x.x works perfectly fine on VZW Marshmallow firmware, except no advanced calling (wifi calling and VoIP).
Make sure to choose 6.0.1 firmware in the last option of Aroma to have fingerprint scanner working, as well as mobile data. (if you are on MM firmware!!) ROM does NOT install firmware.

Advanced calling is bugged on HTC's end, and will be until either an incremental official update or until a fix is found. TL: DR it will be bugged in all roms based of HTC N.

But advanced calling works fine on test N ROMs on the Verizon 10, so you'll just have to wait for the OTA to drop.

With Verizon N firmware, which is truly what's missing here, the updated radio...from that elusive OTA.

I dont know about you guys but I've got a notification from Verizon saying 2.28 is ready to download. Hopefully its not much longer until everything is working perfectly.

I think you're probably running a custom Rom and seeing the notification for US Unlocked Nougat.
It's not a notification from Verizon at all.
There is no Verizon 2.28 Nougat update... It will not be 2.28.605.x when it's released.

I don't expect 2.28.605.x to be the number of the ROM version when it drops.

Correct, that's what I was saying as well.
As the current Nougat Vzw test builds are not 2.28 and aren't typically of the same number as other variants anyways...

Moving to Magisk Nougat

Hey guys, I'm stock, rooted, s-off with magisk and I'd like to be on Lee Droid or Viper Nougat with working Magisk and Verizon features. The way I'm reading their guides, it seems I would have to be on Nougat firmware for that. Does that mean I can convert to US Unlocked Nougat with updated firmware, then to Lee Droid or Viper Magisk and pass safety net while having nougat and advanced calling and such?
Thanks guys
I'd love to know the answer to this as well. I don't have many friends using Verizon, so I don't use the Verizon features much. I'm just kind of tired of Verizon being slow with their updates. For some reason I keep being stupid and buying Verizon phones despite the long updates for 4 different phones that have been on Verizon. :/
you guys have to flash the US unlocked RUU and then flash the Verizon radio for it to work. From what I've read you'll have the features you want. But since I haven't personally tried I cannot be 100%. there is guides on how to do this.
IMHO, I would wait for Verizon, it is always best to use your carriers firmware. It wont be much longer even though itll feel like a lifetime.
I'd love to get a confirmation on this as well. I can say however from my own experience that running VZW firmware with viper10 4.x.x ROM that everything works great EXCEPT volte (HD calling/ advanced calling features) I'd like to mention to others who are experimenting as well that I can format data, flash 3.5.0 and have volte back up and running no problem. My theory is the issue lies in the VZW firmware being a MM version. My next step is to flash the nougat RUU, flash the VZW radio, and then the viper nougat ROM. I'll share the results once I get the chance to do everything. Again if anyone can chime in on this method that would be greatly appreciated.
ROMs now support Advanced Calling with Magisk.
now just need vzw nougat.

Did you do anything special when you installed the ROM? Could you tell me what steps you took installing it? Just wondering if I'm missing something. I have the latest VZW firmware installed as well. Are you positive that advanced calling is working? I notice that when you make a call the data signal icon will remain on the status bar (unless you go into venom tweaks and change it to anything other than the stock icon, then it will disappear) but there won't be any traffic and I can confirm it by trying to load a web page.

So this is the last intermediate step to getting the extra verizon functions to work? Im assuming once androidkitchen is fixed to set the values properly, we should be able to build it in directly?

That's what it's looking like to me. With some work it is possible to get ROMs working on MM firmware with VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. Santods rom has had this for a little bit and now with this new information, if one was to say combine both, the outcome is great. But I'll leave that to those more experienced than myself, but it is possible now thanks to all these brilliant minds.
Is the magisk files in the magisk repo?

Need verizon to update to n, that's the step we need. On mm it's still broken on n based Roms
Other Than that yes

Even better. Didn't realize that 4.6.0 was out, so I don't know of the change log.
Wasn't bragging by any means also.. Was just stating that it works, and was sure smarter devs would get it soon.
I can confirm that the viper 4.6.0 upgrade does fix volte for vzw devices running mm firmware. The changelog says only working for non magisk version, I suppose that's due to no nougat firmware/RUU released from Verizon yet. If that's a deal breaker your gonna have to wait, otherwise make sure your running the supersu only version. I upgraded from 4.5.0 and it works perfectly. Something I've noticed over the last few months with all the flashing I have done is that if you go into the hidden network info screen, if it shows 3107 for your carrier, it won't work, if it says Verizon wireless as your carrier, then everything is working as it should. Thanks for the update in the rom guys this is GREATLY appreciated for the hard work.
