Anyway to transfer app settings and passwords to new Nexus 6P - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking to find a way to move my app settings, data and passwords (mainly settings and passwords...just hate having to re-enter all that mess) from my Note 3 to my new Nexus 6P. Looked at a few apps but those seem to only move contacts, pics, and stuff like that. I always backup everything on my Note 3 with Titanium backup...so am I going to have to transfer my backup from my Note 3 to my Nexus 6P to restore all that or is there a direct way to do it?

me too, looking for a tools to transfer apps + app settings + app data(account & password) from one to another device.
New to Android world, what's the best all device backup software.

Titanium backup is generally the way to go for backing up/restoring apps. However you'll probably end up having to clear the data of programs that you have a login for because the push notifications tend not to work after the restore.

Titanium backup is what I used.

So, basically just make a backup in Titanium on the old phone then copy that backup to my pc and then go from pc to new Nexus 6P and then do a restore, after finding my backup file?

Basically yes, except won't be a file. It'll be a folder of files.

I have a Note II, and I'm considering getting the 6P at some point. I use RerWare's MyBackupPro to backup my phone (it's not rooted). Would MyBackupPro work in transferring app data, contacts, etc., to the 6P? Just curious for those of us who haven't rooted our phones...

You will not have your app data backed up because you need root access for that. Personally that app is not worth the money imo because you can do everything it does on your own and/or with free apps.

I made a new Titanium Backup backup and transferred that to my computer and then to my Nexus 6P. Ran Titanium Backup on the Nexus 6P and restored my few apps I needed to recover my data and passwords from and run perfectly.

This, did exactly the same.

Personally, I'm also a fan of using helium for backups. It is free unless you want to do a cloud based backup. I paid for the premium version, but either way it works without root just need to enable camera transfer and use the computer counterpart. Best of luck with your backup endeavor!

So you mean there's no way to back up apps' login account + password and have to do it one by one on the new Phone? if forget the password, i'm screwed-up.

Have you got app login info restored? or have to initially manually sign in the first time using app on your new phone?

Angry birds data backup?

Weird question, I know. But here's the deal, just finished booting a new rom to my droid and completely forgot about my beloved angry bird game and wiped everything clean. I had my hopes it would be saved but doesn't seem that way.
So its actually a couple of questions. Will I be able to restore game data from anywhere? Or for future notice, is there a way to back that up so I don't lose it when I update again?
Thanks!
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
Titanium backup will backup game data and app settings data for every app you backup. I but, when I moved from stock to Fission the angry birds and Devilry Huntress backups didn't work. Don't know if mine just messed up or it was b/c of the major differences in the ROM. But, Ive been using titanium backup since my rooted D1 days. I still have apps installed that have game saves from back on my D1
Sometimes when using titanium after a rom upgrade to get my settings or saves back I have to wipe the data after it restores the app then select restore data only. I think when it restores an app it does a clean install before trying to restore the data which causes problems for things like that. A perfect example is my blizzard authenticator for my battle.net account. If I use titanium to restore it it tries to give me a new key code to put on my account, which of course doesn't work. So I have to wipe the data through titanium then restore it so my old settings take effect.
Also if you created a backup in clockworkmod than you could restore your previous configuration that way, get your save data back, use titanium to back it up, then reinstall the rom.

Ah shame, so there's no way to recover now is there?
So much for being on the hunt of 3 stars for everything... Only had 8 missing too.
Here's what I do. Buy Root Explorer from the Market if you haven't already. I'm sure you could do it with other programs, but in my opinion Root Explorer is the single most indispensable app for root users so you might as well get it anyway.
- open root explorer
- grant superuser if needed
- go to data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files
- long-press highscores.lua
- copy
- back out (4 backs)
- go to sdcard
- paste
Upon reinstallation of Angry Birds after changing ROMs:
- open Angry Birds and play through a level (i.e., get a score)
- exit Angry Birds
- open root explorer
- go to sdcard
- long-press highscores.lua
- copy
- back out (1 back)
- go to data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files
- paste (yes, overwrite)
- long-press highscores.lua
- click permissions
- check read & write on user, group, and others (leave execute unchecked for all)
- click ok
- back all the way out of root explorer
- open Angry Birds and see your high scores all back to normal
So basically, what you're doing is copying the old high scores file and replacing the new one. The key is setting permissions so it reads properly.

Must be rooted and use root explorer. Regular file manager will not see it.
saved my life, thanks man.
Here's how I back up my highscores and settings, no root needed:
Code:
adb pull /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files/highscores.lua ab_highscores.lua
adb pull /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files/settings.lua ab_settings.lua
adb pull /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons/files/highscores.lua abs_highscores.lua
adb pull /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons/files/settings.lua abs_settings.lua
if you do adb shell you can change dirs all the way through /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons/files/ but ls doesn't work. You have to know the exact filename.
Did u do a backup before flashing Rom? If so u can restore your backup install titanium backup angry birds and then flash back to new rom and restore from titanium

Angry Birds Backup
Maybe you could use my app that will work for any device, any version of Angry Birds, is free and has no add ...
You can find it by going to the market and seach for AngryBirdsBackup all collapsed
My app name is "AngryBirdsBackup Free"
Any feedback is welcome

Does anyone know if similar steps can be taken to transfer data from a Jailbroken iPhone/iPod? I had all my data saved in iOS, so I'm looking to switch the data over to Android.
As far as I can tell, iOS uses a highscore.lua file, so it shouldn't be too complicated. Just figured I would put it out there and see if anyone had found any info on such a topic.
Thanks!
I have found an app "Angrybirds Back2SD", which is easy to use.

Hi,
I have an app for doing backup of Angry Birds save games.
Recently I receiveid some reports that for some people was not working.
What I found out was that this happens with Amazon app version of the games.
I'm from Portugal and don't have access to Amazon App Store, so can't do some testing. What I suspect is that the package name is different from Android Market, probably differing free from paid version.
For the versions in Android Market the folders are:
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsrio
Can someone tell me the folders (or package name) for the Amazon versions of Angry Birds? Both free and paid.
I have some feedback from users that the paid version worket, so I suspect that only the free versions have different folders.
This can be checked with a file explorer on a rooted device.
I don't know what other way to see the package name.
If someone knows how to find a package name of an app not installed also helps.
Thanks
I just verified that the paths you've posted are exactly same for the ad-free/paid version of the games from Amazon.
Hi,
The folders for Angry Birs from Amazon App Store are:
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds.free
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons.free
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsrio
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsrio.free (I think there is no free version on Amazon)
If someone want's to use my app here it is:

google people app

When I first rooted my nexus 7 I deleted the google people app because I didnt have a need for it. I recently installed tablet talk and have realised that to get the names of my contacts to syc with the texts I will need to reinstall the app. Does anyone have an apk that will install? Ive been unable to find anything on the web so far.

On the Nexus 7, there are three apps that do that... Contacts, Contacts storage and Google contacts sync. There is no people app.

Did you not do a nandroid backup before messing around removing stuff? You could use TB to extract out of that or use other methods.

"People" is the display name of contacts - there is no people.apk.
If you use Google to store your contacts, then you'll need Google contact sync. If you have a Google account, then you need Google account manager. But I'm guessing that that it's already installed or you wouldn't be able to access Play store.
TB does not backup system apps, only their data. You will need to manually copy the contact apks. Then, on your ROM where you don't have people, copy the apks to /system/data, boot into recovery and wipe cache and Dalvik, and reboot. You should have people back again.

[Q] How can I Transfer apps and all data from old Nexus 7 to a new one??

Just bought a new 32GB Nexus 7 clearance sale to upgrade from my "early adopter" 8GB 7. Damn Google for not putting a Micro SD card slot (like my 10" ASUS TF) on the Nexus 7, so how can I transfer all my apps, settings and data to my new Nexus 7 ... without doing a Rooting?? (not interested in Rooting my devices). I have about 6GB of used space on my old Nexus 7 with Apps, setups and data.
There has to be a way to do it via cloud, Micro USB via a PC, or using my LAN NAS? Someone has to have had to do this before?
Thanks

There are several ways to do this, but they all require root afaik - what you want to do is low-level data handling, and those operations normally require root access.
1) You could use a toolkit to backup and restore your data partition.*
2) You could backup your data partition with custom recovery and restore it to new rom.*
3) You could use a backup app like titanium or ROM Toolbox to backup and restore your apps and data.
I think all of the above methods require root. * Note: * To be able to backup and restore your entire data partition (including PAID apps which are normally encrypted), you need to have playstore encryption disabled, which also requires root.
When I switch between roms, I do a backup with all of the above 3, just to be safe!

In my OP I specifically stated I was NOT interested in Rooting. So the information was not of any help. There is no reason that I can see for Rooting to simply move files, Apps and data. Apps are not in the Root, are self contained and I'm not wanting to move the OS or the OS settings.
From feedback I got on another forum a comprehensive Backup app like Helium backup may well do this by putting the BU on my linked PC. But I am still open to suggestions (that DON'T include Rooting) from those that have had this same problem, transferring from an old 7 to a new one.

Thanks, I am leaning toward the use of Helium too. But still open to ideas.
May I necro this thread and ask a continued version of the same question? Hoping so because here I go.
I too would like to copy/backup data from my Nexus 7. I'm an inexperienced user and Google led me here. I'd prefer not to have to root the Nexus, as I hear horror stories about making it a "brick". I tried Helium, BUT.....
Helium can't be used on anything but the owner's profile. I have virtually nothing of interest on the owner profile, and everything I want to back up is on the secondary restricted profile.
So, is there a way to get around that? I've heard of the Nexus Root Toolkit posted above. Will that backup primary and secondary user accounts, without rooting? And if I do have to root it, is that Toolkit beginner-friendly enough to be safe, or should I just resign myself to losing all that data anyhow?
(Curse Android and Google for not doing this already, they must know it's a much-demanded function!)
Thank you to any who can give me a little more info on the topic.

[Q] How do you backup user app data when updating via Safestrap?

how much ever i search, i cant seem to find an option to use any kind of AppData backup to my external SD card, when i install a new ROM using safestrap. Titanium Backup doesnt seem to support anything outside the internal memory. Samsung kies doesnt backup app DATA. It just backups the Apps.
Please correct me if im wrong, or if you've figured out a way to restore Apps, Photos, Videos back after the update?
To backup apps and their data use titanium. To backup photos, vids, music, etc use kies or copy them off your device to your pc.

Use root explorer and make a folder named TITANIUM BACKUP first. Then the YELLOW folders should writeable and allow you to use it.
Also what firmware are you on? What rom? I know some have had issue with KitKat and external sdcards to being writeable. There are threads about it. So if that is the issue try doing a search for KitKat and writeable sdcards.
I don't think you have to have the paid version of tibu to choose the external sdcard (I never had to when I was on the free version. Unless something changed).

Also what firmware are you on? What rom? I know some have had issue with KitKat and external sdcards to being writeable. There are threads about it. So if that is the issue try doing a search for KitKat and writeable sdcards. Something like this one. There were others with a quick search as well.

I don't think you have to have the paid version of tibu to choose the external sdcard (I never had to when I was on the free version. Unless something changed).

Awesome.. thanks for that info. . I had to edit the permissions.xml and now i can do an app based backup to my external SD, from TiBu.

[Solved] Is there any way to switch from 32 bit RR to 64 bit RR without losing data?

So I've used 32 bit RR for a while and it has gotten super slow. I have heard that 64 bit RR is more stable and faster. Also, I saw how cool the Weaver kernel was and it's only for 64 bit RR users. Is there a way to switch over without losing data? If not, what would be the best way to backup and restore all my data? The only way I can think of right now is a combination of Titanium backup and Google backup and manual re-setting up, which would waste so much time getting everything back to where it used to be.
Thanks!

That's the requirement when you jump on the custom rom train abs want to test different roms and architectures: you need to backup things and have patience.
You can just wipe system partition and leave data partition untouched but it's risky and lead to problems afterwards so not recommend.
Titanium backup is the best way and more often you use it it will be faster every time to restore your setup

No way to update from 32bit to 64bit without wipe..
You can take backup through titanium backup,
Then start clean ROM, install apps from play store,
don't restore apks, those apk will be forr 32bit system and will not work on 64bit,
After installing apps, restore data from titanium backup, don't restore apks.
This is what you can do..
In addition, take TWRP backup too, it you lose any data/app, you can simply restore complete 32bit setup and have all data back...
Thank y'all for your responses! I have backed up all my apps with Titanium Backup and took a NANDroid backup, as @____Mdd suggested. I'm about to switch over but I was wondering if there was a way to backup my LineageOS/Settings app settings. I've customized using the LineageOS options and it'd be a hassle to have to re-setup all of them. Is it safe to restore Titanium backups of the Settings app itself?
Thanks in advance

Nope, not possible. Don't restore any settings except the ones with the titanium backup logo.
User apps and their data can be restored, but no system app should be able be restored. It's more hands on, but won't cause issues. I'm doing this the same way for years.

Alright I just finished getting everything back this weekend. Took a while, but I'm now back up to speed and the ROM is actually way way more stable and less slow (still a few freezes where the phone refuses to turn on for sometime but whatever, it's a slow phone). Thanks for all the help!
