Angry birds data backup? - Droid 2 General

Weird question, I know. But here's the deal, just finished booting a new rom to my droid and completely forgot about my beloved angry bird game and wiped everything clean. I had my hopes it would be saved but doesn't seem that way.
So its actually a couple of questions. Will I be able to restore game data from anywhere? Or for future notice, is there a way to back that up so I don't lose it when I update again?
Thanks!

Titanium backup will backup game data and app settings data for every app you backup. I but, when I moved from stock to Fission the angry birds and Devilry Huntress backups didn't work. Don't know if mine just messed up or it was b/c of the major differences in the ROM. But, Ive been using titanium backup since my rooted D1 days. I still have apps installed that have game saves from back on my D1

Sometimes when using titanium after a rom upgrade to get my settings or saves back I have to wipe the data after it restores the app then select restore data only. I think when it restores an app it does a clean install before trying to restore the data which causes problems for things like that. A perfect example is my blizzard authenticator for my battle.net account. If I use titanium to restore it it tries to give me a new key code to put on my account, which of course doesn't work. So I have to wipe the data through titanium then restore it so my old settings take effect.
Also if you created a backup in clockworkmod than you could restore your previous configuration that way, get your save data back, use titanium to back it up, then reinstall the rom.

Ah shame, so there's no way to recover now is there?
So much for being on the hunt of 3 stars for everything... Only had 8 missing too.

Here's what I do. Buy Root Explorer from the Market if you haven't already. I'm sure you could do it with other programs, but in my opinion Root Explorer is the single most indispensable app for root users so you might as well get it anyway.
- open root explorer
- grant superuser if needed
- go to data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files
- long-press highscores.lua
- copy
- back out (4 backs)
- go to sdcard
- paste
Upon reinstallation of Angry Birds after changing ROMs:
- open Angry Birds and play through a level (i.e., get a score)
- exit Angry Birds
- open root explorer
- go to sdcard
- long-press highscores.lua
- copy
- back out (1 back)
- go to data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files
- paste (yes, overwrite)
- long-press highscores.lua
- click permissions
- check read & write on user, group, and others (leave execute unchecked for all)
- click ok
- back all the way out of root explorer
- open Angry Birds and see your high scores all back to normal
So basically, what you're doing is copying the old high scores file and replacing the new one. The key is setting permissions so it reads properly.

hi a search but i dont see com.rovio.angrybirds folder in data/data

Must be rooted and use root explorer. Regular file manager will not see it.

saved my life, thanks man.

Here's how I back up my highscores and settings, no root needed:
Code:
adb pull /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files/highscores.lua ab_highscores.lua
adb pull /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds/files/settings.lua ab_settings.lua
adb pull /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons/files/highscores.lua abs_highscores.lua
adb pull /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons/files/settings.lua abs_settings.lua
if you do adb shell you can change dirs all the way through /data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons/files/ but ls doesn't work. You have to know the exact filename.

Did u do a backup before flashing Rom? If so u can restore your backup install titanium backup angry birds and then flash back to new rom and restore from titanium

Angry Birds Backup
Maybe you could use my app that will work for any device, any version of Angry Birds, is free and has no add ...
You can find it by going to the market and seach for AngryBirdsBackup all collapsed
My app name is "AngryBirdsBackup Free"
Any feedback is welcome
Pierrick

Does anyone know if similar steps can be taken to transfer data from a Jailbroken iPhone/iPod? I had all my data saved in iOS, so I'm looking to switch the data over to Android.
As far as I can tell, iOS uses a highscore.lua file, so it shouldn't be too complicated. Just figured I would put it out there and see if anyone had found any info on such a topic.
Thanks!

I have found an app "Angrybirds Back2SD", which is easy to use.

Hi,
I have an app for doing backup of Angry Birds save games.
Recently I receiveid some reports that for some people was not working.
What I found out was that this happens with Amazon app version of the games.
I'm from Portugal and don't have access to Amazon App Store, so can't do some testing. What I suspect is that the package name is different from Android Market, probably differing free from paid version.
For the versions in Android Market the folders are:
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsrio
Can someone tell me the folders (or package name) for the Amazon versions of Angry Birds? Both free and paid.
I have some feedback from users that the paid version worket, so I suspect that only the free versions have different folders.
This can be checked with a file explorer on a rooted device.
I don't know what other way to see the package name.
If someone knows how to find a package name of an app not installed also helps.
Thanks

I just verified that the paths you've posted are exactly same for the ad-free/paid version of the games from Amazon.

Hi,
The folders for Angry Birs from Amazon App Store are:
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirds.free
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons.free
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsrio
/data/data/com.rovio.angrybirdsrio.free (I think there is no free version on Amazon)
If someone want's to use my app here it is:

SPRINT Activation Bypass

FOR SPRINT GALAXY TABs - DEACTIVATION OF SPRINT ACTIVATION MESSAGE ON BOOT and ACTIVATE DEVICE NOTIFICATIONS.
Ok well the verizon method of bypassing the activation everytime you start the tab doesnt work (vol up once, vol down twice, etc. etc.)
I used the 2nd post in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866162
to try and deactivate the activation screen, but it bricked my Sprint Tab. I had to use the rom available here which messes up GPS and modem. But anyway foxmeister mentioned why not just go to the app and delete, freeze, it.
1) I used Root explorer and went to:
/system/app/
2) put the folder in R/W mode (look at top for button)
3) now look for -
sprintadroidextension.apk
4) long hold press it, either copy it and paste it in another folder as backup.
5) go back to /system/app/ and long hold press sprintadroidextension.apk
again and Delete it.
6) put the folder back in R/O mode.
Now restart and you should not see anymore activation messages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =]
Thank you to : foxmeister, sirmacbeth, rkmj
RKMJ stated you can try to use Titanium Backup and freeze the app instead of deleting it. I just deleted it and it WORKS =].
I also saved a backup in another folder so in case i need the app i'll have it.
I'll try to upload the apk for anyone who needs it later.
I made a separate topic on this because 1) i tried it and it worked 2) the other thread is confusing and can lead you to brick your sprint tab fast.
Finally!!! Something that finally appears to work!
Thank you!

Thanks

R/W button?
I can't STAND the activation prompt... until today, I just put the tab in Airplane mode, and rebooted. That got rid of it, but I have to manually turn on the WiFi every time i boot it. I'm in position, but can't for the life of me find the R/W mode button, or a way to change the permissions... lil' help please?
Thanks for this! Whether ot works for me or not, I HAVE learned something!
=IP IHI II IL=
is your tab rooted? Are you use root explorer?
when you get over to the /system/app directory, on the upper left/middle side of the screen you'll see a button that might say either R/O or R/W
Click that button, it will switch from read only mode to read/write mode.
It might say Mount R/O or Mount R/W, i forgot exactly how it was.
I don;t have my tab on me, sent it into samsung because I did some stupid stuff nd lost my GPS capability.\
Cheers.
Worked good for me. Thanks!
I'm still going to use my G Tab in Airplane mode for the most part however. I have a hunch it's draining battery when it's locked onto the EVDO network, and there's signal bars in the status bar at the top of the screen.

What is this activation prompt? I have a Sprint Tab and have never seen it.
I'm sure there was some sort of activation the very first time I used the device, but certainly not every time I turn it on.
after deleting the file with root explorer it came back again.
how to delete the file? the tab is rooted
Ok, so I did everything and when I delete the file it comes right back. As soon as I go back to the system folder it seems the program regenerates itself.
Now I am having a problem with the R/O mode switch. When I first open the program I can change it to Mount r/w. However, as soon as I get into the system folder and the app folders the mount r/o button kind of greys out and when I click it nothing happens.
any ideas?
Thanks! This worked well for me. Only change was I used Super Manager rather than Root Explorer to delete the file (since it was free and on the Market for Sprint). If you don't set the directory to R/W is seems to work but dfoes not actually delete the file.
My question now is do I have to be concerend with firmware updates. Will they reset this or fail to apply? TIA
I think I answered this myself - Can't get OTA firmware updates and if you try it tries to activate again!
Future firmware updates are problematic too I hear - they will attempt tp prevent people hacking or rooting the device.

Yes, you can get Titanium Backup for free through the market and freeze the app. Also, for anyone having trouble deleting the app, freezing it through Titanium Backup will produce the same result of removing the activation prompt.
Bump for Woot buyers.
I've been having this problem on my Sprint Galaxy S III. I tried this method but it didn't work - activation came up again right after reboot. I tried searching for activation disabling on the GSIII and this was the only thing I could find. Anybody have any ideas on how to get the SIII to can the activation screen?
ADDED
I tried moving the sprint_installer.apk to my newly created backup folder where I also moved the sprintandroidextension.apk. I checked and that file did not regenerate as it did for another user in this discussion. Both are in the Backup sub-folder I created in the /system/app/ folder. Could it still be seeing these .apk's in there and loading them anyway? I've even picked up the paid version of Titanium Backup so I could try freezing the file (free version won't let you reeze but I use TB enough I figured $3.99 was more than reasonable for use I'd already gotten from it whether it helped this situation or not) but for some reason, it refuses to see the sprintandroidextension.apk file at all but I was able to freeze the Sprint-Installer.apk but it didn't appear to have any effect whatsoever.

All right! Now is this a keylogger or a virus?
Thanks for your help.
Most likely it's an app you uninstalled - it leaves an app of 0kb if you then restore from a nandriod backup as the nandriod backup does not backup user apps so sometimes you are left with apps of 0k in the manage application list
as for the permissions apps like titanium backup have them permissions but not services that cost you money - always be wary of that permission
it is not a virus - there are no viruses on android - only apps with a given permission which you have installed

I will have a guess at what happened at your end.. most probably that's the case..
Do you use link2sd or any such methods to link apps?
If you are using link2sd, then most probably the second partition of sdcard crashed or didn't mount properly..
One simple test to get such 0.KB app is.. disable your link2sd app by freezing it via titanium backup and move link2sd script in init.d folder to sdcard and reboot.. you will find all of your second sdcard partition apps like the one in your screenshot..
That's not an error or virus.. its just the system knows that app is installed.. but it doesn't know where that apk of that file is.. so the 0.kb

well, as far as I can remember.. its definitely not a virus it any dangerous app.. I can assure you of that.. do one thing.
Make a nandroid backup.. then uninstall that app.. it shouldn't cause any problem.. if it did, you could restore your backup.
It may be because that apk is accidentally corrupted or deleted or moved or something.. may be it happened without coming to your notice. But not to worry.. its not a virus.. and you don't need an antivirus for your phone.. I see you have avast.. if you are using it for firewall that's good. Because you get only malware or adware or spyware may be.. but not viruses.. if you have adblocker you can check for adware and you can easily avoid spyware and malware by not installing total strange apps from untrusted source.. so basically virus is next to impossible in android.. as its based on Linux..

which folder?
I have a plan to use zip for phones which don't have SD. It'll be easier to copy one file then a folder to PC. Or upload it to a cloud.
I think backup shouldn't be stored for a long time. It may be incompatible with newer apps.

You can zip or unzip the whole folder easyly with SharpZipLib. Should work.
New version. Alpha 2.
App renamed to App Data Manager. And there is a reason: it can now delete cache of any app.
Tool has only 4 features:
1) Copy AppData -> Backup
2) Copy Backup -> AppData
3) Delete Backup
4) Delete AppData
Added confirmation messages
Delete options moved to menu
Items with backup are highlighted
Progress indicator added
Icons are loading directly (without copying) now
Added 3 textboxes with folder sizes. AppData (Full), AppData\Local (Dt), Backup (Bkp)

What's the size (Full) of GTA? App don't do backup of all Isolated Storage, just Local folder. For most apps other folders are cache or empty.

Apps can write to installation folder without any problems whatsoever.

Everything goes back to normal after restart the phone. I did install GTA, made a full backup 1.98GB than I removed the game and restore backup. So do not need to be download extra files again

could you please send me Backup files ?
I want to try install on Lumia 920
I am trying catch by wireshark but cant see any matching files. Will upload anywway
By the way, -W_O_L_F- (and anybody else who might want to do something like this): Be aware that the ApplicationManager.FindPackages API does not list sideloaded applications. I recommend getting the package list from the registry (or, if you have access, the file system) instead, if you want sideloaded apps to show up.
I ran into this when trying to use AppFolder to create a folder of my sideloaded tools, and it didn't show them.
EDIT: Added this app to my list of apps for unlocked phones. Thanks for your great work!

GPE System Partition almost no free space after 5.0.1 OTA

So it seems they messed up. The system partition after the OTA has only about 7.5MB free.. If you root and install busybox then you'll only have 216 KB yes.. KB free..
It was reported in the Conversion thread and I thought maybe somehow the system image got jacked when I pulled it so I flashed back to 4.4.4 and took the OTA. After it updated 7.5MB free..
Can someone with a real GPE (not converted) who took the 5.0.1 OTA do something quick?
Use terminal emulator and run the command df. Tell me what it reports as the parition size and free space size for /system. I'm betting it's the same with like almost no free space. I hope they fix this in another OTA and make the system partition bigger
By the way, the main point of this thread is just so people are aware that the system partition will be pretty much full after the update. I've seen a few people not be able to modify the system and not realizing it's because the partition is almost full. I didn't even realize it until someone reported it in the RUU thread and confirming for myself after multiple tests.
I'm running SkyDragon 4.2.0 without Play Games, Books and Movies and have 72mb free with busybox installed!
Says system size is 1gb.

That's why you have more.. because of the removed google apps.. but in cases where people convert to get OTA's it sucks for them because the OTA will fail if you remove those apps. If you don't plan on taking OTA's it doesn't really matter you can delete away.
Noticed the same when I tried enabling adaway and it told me I didn't have enough space for the hosts file. Just will have to move most GAPPS out of system then to make room.
Edit: System Partition is also showing 1006.7 Mb with 1006.5 used.
Good find. Seems they ballzed this up a fair bit!
Why is this an issue?
Any one wanting to modify the /system can just delete some Google apps to make room for anything else.

Seems more like a android 5 thing. Its the same on my nexus 7, system partition its full as well. Its like grafixnyc said they don't want us to mess with system anymore.

Well look at the issue I had above I didnt even have enough space to install an ad blocking hosts file to system. Also if you want to install a battery stat app that needs to be either moved there or the add-on for Gsam you won't have room without deleting some GAPPS. Won't be much of an issue for people who really don't modify or root thier phones.
Not a major issue really as data is fine, but a slight inconvenience for us nerds. On my Nexis 5 running lollipop its a 1009.3 mb but only 861 is used cause I deleted most of the GAAPS out of there. Interesting its slightly bigger than the M8's

I was able to free up 104 mb in the system buy converting 7 apps to user apps using link2sd
Cloud Print - Docs - Sheets - Slides - Hangouts - Email - and HTC Photo Edit
It should be simple enough to convert them back for an OTA update ( have to flash back stock recovery also so just one more small step)
I described the whole process here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57297835&postcount=1888
I already did the same.
Nice catch. Just noticed this using AdAway as well. I'll symlink the hosts file to data for now.
So does anyone have a list of apps to delete in order to get some of that space back. I am sure there are things (live wallpapers for me) that many don't use which could be deleted. I just don't want break functionality by randomly deleting stuff.

All the gapps like G+ etc.. Other apps try freezing them first in Tibu and if it doesnt break anything then you know you can delete it (I would keep copies of all the apks you delete though just in case)

Thanks I'll try some this evening and try to report back. I see things like "android work assistant" that are small but add up.

See my post one page back .. I just converted 7 apps to user apps and free up 104mb
How will this affect the performance of custom ROMs?

This was helpful. The /system partition was stopping me from getting all the features in ElementalX 3.00 working properly. I deleted Play Videos, Magazines and Games, reinstalled the kernel and all is right.
I'm about to convert my M8 to GPE 5.0.1. Can someone please explain what are the outcomes of this "bug"?
I don't want to have any problems after converting.
Thanks.
Was this a mistake or a deliberate repartitioning on their side to prevent modifications to the system? Xposed, rooting, busybox, etc etc. If there aren't space for it then it "can't" be done, yea?
Wouldn't surprise me if they did this on purpose, it's Google after all. The same company that deliberately removed SD card slots, prevented writing to SD cards(As a made up security flaw) just to push people into buying into their Cloud/Drive $$$$$$$$$.
