Hi there, I am hoping someone can please help me
I have just bought an LG G2 D802 from a Hong Kong based Ebay store. It was sold to me as a brand new phone but I am having some suspicions about this. For a start - the IMEI number actually matches up to a Nokia 3310. I have had no success with getting 4g ever & knock on feature does not work. Apart from this - it's a terrific phone & arrived in a box with stickers on etc & looked brand new. The box says "made in China" but the phone says "made in Korea". Is there any way to tell if genuine besides pulling it apart to check the motherboard? Have I reason to be suspicious? The Seller insists it is a new phone.
Model: LG G2 D802
Software Info:
Android version 5.0.2
Baseband version: M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190128
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Build number: LRX22G
Software version V30a-HKG-XX
if it as a imei number from a old phone (like nokia3310 , it is a fake or it is a stolen phone where they changed the imei code from so it will not be blocked from the networks ( if a phone got stollen they block the imei to got netwerk service)
I work at a samsung service point , we see this very often , what you also can do is open the backcover and check the battery , fake phones also mostly have a fake battery , some times with only half of the normal capacity
and they look bit different than original battery's

bro ur phone is oreginal lg g2 but its not oreginal d802 it might be d800 0r d801.its modified d802 by software ,open ur phone and see back side of motherboard u can see oreginal model no.
Unfortunately, everything comes at a price. Those brand new phones from China are much cheaper, but they are mostly refurbished so expect problems...

In my experience, a real Samsung device will have the model # as the first few characters of the baseband, am I right or wrong?
My question is about determining fakes: Will a fake device have a baseband set up to look like a real Samsung baseband or will the fake device always have a baseband that looks nothing like a Samsung version?
I saw this webpage about fakes appearing in Thailand: http://www.soyacincau.com/2014/04/2...d-in-bangkok-and-it-looks-like-the-real-deal/. The basband shown in the photos looks nothing like anything I've ever seen on a Samsung device. I was just wondering if that holds true for all fakes - basically, would checking the baseband be the absolute fool-proof way to determine a fake device?
I live in Vietnam and Samsung makes their phones here. I see mobile store buying parts (still the exact parts from official phones) from unofficial sources, put it together and copy the official imei of an official phone to cheat the customers. Then they put them in boxes with seal and papers look exactly like a new phone...Those Samsung phones (most popular is note2 s4 note3 s5) works like **** and often have China battery and other parts.
The stores often tell the customers that those phone is carried from abroad and sell it at a cheaper price. (I bought mine at Samsung showroom for 800$ and they sell theirs for 600$)
It's best to buy from certified retailers.

I am in Guangzhou and wanted to purchase N9100 HK version . I read the thread here . While asking for a mobile phone market someone referred me to second hand stuff da sha tou market which is filled with knock offs. It took me quite a while to identify a fake . The recovery and knox were copied and imei.info suggested it to be n9100.I saw such a good knock off that may be now i have the original one and i cannot believe it,
The very next day i went to a different market in guading . I purchase note 4 n9100 hk version but there are many inconsistencies in the box and back panel from the pics already present on xda
1.Made in Vietnam is not printed on the box.
2.Made in XYZ country is nowhere mentioned on the phone and battery . The sticker at the back of the phone just mentions made by samsung.
3.The speaker grill is steel color , pics in the above thread have black speaker grill.
4.There is no IMEI stickers on the box but the imei matches everywhere
Antutu gave around 44113 ,specs matched and thats the reason i purchased it however i cannot clear some points in my head. Screen is amoled white sucks while black is awesome.I am not impressed with the screen , the whites have yellowish tint . My tab pro has much much better screen than note 4
SECOND ROUND OF CONFUSION HK OR CHINA VERSION
I was considering the baseband version as SM-N9100ZWUTGY of Hong Kong version as printed on the box imei sticker and URL but it turned out to be different . http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consumer/mobile/smartphones/smartphones/SM-N9100ZWUTGY#none
N9100ZHU1ANK2 is the baseband version
q1. Did the seller flash the china version with hk rom and replaced the box ? Is there any to check via serial number from samsung ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/n9100-dual-flash-try-n9100-hongkong-t2956342 . I wasn't aware of this method until i purchased this devices otherwise i would have purchased a china version and paid lesser . I was under the impression that flashing GAPPS isnt imperfect and there are some sync issues.
q2 . Is there any way to check if the samsung battery is genuine ? Nokia provided web verification
Please clear the points mentioned , i cannot get this out from my head. I paid so much for a phone whose warranty i cannot use .
q3. Is there any way i can identify that its a HK version and not a china version ? The box has url printed as samsung.com.hk but inside the box the manual has the url printed samsung.com/cn .There is a spelling mistake too in the manual "Samsung Elcetron cs:
Can someone readout the chinese , is it mandarin or cantonese? Battery and Charger
POSTING PICS
UPDATES
Manufacturing country is printed on the battery but not on the phone . Its 100% original samsung HK version , got it checked from the service center.
Dead giveaway that its a fake note4...

I just checked it with cpu-z everything matches with the original one , it recognizes a 64gb card
I just returned back from market and posted this . I guess the knockoff can't connect to kies . I also got a update notification on phone. The phone is working good on china unicom 4g .
I am watching some youtube videos and the device seems to be ok but there is NO Note 4 written on the back , the promotional pics on samsung website also doesnt have note 4 written but production model has note 4 written.
Heart rate sensor app is missing but the sensor seems to be working *#0*# check
My head is spinning right now even after few hours of use its still not clear may be someone owning the n9100 hk version can clear it up .
The stylus is of good quality with the textures and steel frame is machined (dont know what its called but like the one on htc phones.
Man try phone info samsung on play store and has a thread on xda it will help you
Original or Fake SM-N9100 ?
Hi All, i bought N9100 dual sim international version from china... I checked in IMEI.info site... there its listed and having warranty. But below are the discrepancy,
1) Its an play store installed version but Samsung Voice Recorder app, KNOX app is not available.
2) Samsung S note is working offline, but not logging into samsung cn account even.
3) Kites 2.6 and 3 is not at all recognizing the device ( does it not recognize in kitkat version? ).
phone details from about phone.
SM-9100 running stock kitkat 4.4.4, baseband version N9100ZCU1AOB1
security s/w version MDF v1.1 release 5, VPN v1.4 release 2
Knox 2.2 stated to be available. I checked phone info samsung app and the Knox warranty void 0x1, but the color mentioned in the app is wrong as white, but mine is black
Can anyone suggest resolutions for the above to confirm originality and stock samsung apps availability, any would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ajitanto
Both the phone and battery look original to me. However i am not sure if its chinese or hk version. The amoled screen's yellowish white is normal i have it on all my note 4s and the knock offs "never" have amoled screen.
Do you still have that phone?
Hello all,
I just bought a Galaxy S5 and did some authenticity checking on it. I expected the G900F version since I live in Europe (Romania). It seems that it is the G9006V version. I chatted with a Samsung representative and he told me based on the IMEI that this is the case. I also checked out the download mode and it said the same. Antutu gave it a score of 50483 and says it has a Qualcomm 801 chipset, so at least it seems to be genuine.
I have the option of getting a refund. My question is, do I have any reason to? Are there any downsides to the Chinese version? It does have Google Play, I've read that mentioned as missing. It also came with Android 5, or so it says in the device info screen, and cannot be upgraded to a later version. Does the European version get a newer one? Will mine be able to get updates too?
P.S. The About Device Screen / Model Number displays "SM-G900F" and under Build Number there is a section called "United Arab Emirates". When I went into an info screen in the S Health app I got a screen of text in Arabic... This is weird, does it have any bearing on the software on my phone and the possibility to upgrade it in the future?
Where did you buy it? Unfortunatly this appears to be another case of a falsely labeled G900F

I ordered it from evomag.ro, a fairly reputable local webshop. I'm not aware of the story with the falsely labeled phones, could you please fill me in? Especially regarding how it affects me as a user?
Hey guys,
So last week I bought a note 4 off eBay. My last note 4 was lost on a night out in September (21st, never forget ) so I have been using my s4 ever since. I miss the size and display of the note 4, hence i bought a new one.
Here's the link:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282075151295
My last note 4 was the SM-N910F,which I also purchased from eBay (UK seller, it was an auction). The note 4 that i bought last week also claims to be an SM-N910F, the European/international version. The seller is Chinese and has sold a good few of these, he also has great feedback (see link). The phone is said to be brand new, in original box with all OEM accessories. I was feeling a bit iffy, I don't know why, in the days after I bought it so I messaged the seller asking about the authenticity etc. Part of the reply worried me:
". . . . . . . . . . I would like to remind you again, our Note 4 is 100% original from Samsung, but please note that our Note 4 is USA model + software unlocked(Rooted), as described in our item specific . . . . . . . . . ."
Now in the item description, the model number is SM-N910F, and not one of the American models, like SM-N910V or SM-N910A. But the seller says it an American version. So there's that. Also the seller says that the software is "unlocked(rooted)". This is my main concern. Is the seller simply trying to tell me that the phone is unlocked, or is he telling me that he has taken the phone out of the box, rooted it and flashed some kind of custom ROM on it? Just take a quick look at the link and have a look at it on ebay and tell me what you think.
Many thanks.
I do not trust these so called sellers selling "brand new" phones. The phone is brand new and already rooted? Its a US model claiming to be a European model?
Let me tell you what you bought...you bought a refurbished phone (refurbished in China) and because the US models are less wanted than the EU models (lack of Hotspot) they sell these as EU models to increase the price.
These refurbished phones are "brand new" but are in reality refurbished with cheap clone parts from China. Its big business in China. I bought a Note 2 like this...after 2 months I had touchscreen problems and the 3G is not working...
Download the app phone info, it will give you the manufacturing date (mainboard), model number and a lot more if your phone is rooted. It will also tell you if its a V, F, or A model...
You can simply go to download mode and check the real model of the device.. i also bought one the seller claimed it's N910F everything looked okay but when i went to download mode it was N910S (sprint) immediately i returned the device to the seller and received my refund..

Dude, why its so hard to figure out in google, what H870K stands for. Whats wrong in this world.... Go on google and you directly see, its the Australian version.
Its a development forum and not for retarding. sorry when i'm mad with those questions.

I had a similar thing with an LG G4 I bought 2 years ago.
Suggest you just call LG themselves.
That's what I did, turned out that the same serial number had been sold (and registered) in Germany a year before, so mine definately wasn't new.
Adam.
