Hi guys
I'm thinking of buying a Z5 Premium or the normal Version of the z5 coming from a Note 4 before that
I wanted to ask how your experience is with the z5 Premium how is heat with the device I heard the snapdragon 810 did a lot of problems with other devices. How the battery hold and so on how is your overall experience

is the only bad thing to me. is awful that a flagship got really hot with the camera or videos. not a problem if your fingers arent at the top of the phone. but if you touch from middle to top it could burn if it a few degrees more.

I have no idea what that other guy is talking about. The Z5 doesn't get nearly that hot. Maybe he has some sort of defective device or something. As a matter of fact, the only time the device gets warm at all is when playing some graphically intensive games, and then, it never gets as hot as the iPhone 6s I owned for a bit.
Defecting?stop lieing. The phone get hot and is a fact. I said when you use the camera or videos

What part of what I said could be construed as lying? The device simply does NOT get so hot that it could, with a few more degrees, potentially burn your fingers. That's insanity. I don't care what app you're using. If your device does get that hot, then there's something wrong with it. I've had mine for over a month now, and it certainly does not do get that hot. And I find it highly unlikely that Sony would knowingly release a product that could almost burn someone's fingers.

bull****. very device specific. i haven't found the phone to get very hot. tried 4k video for 5 minuten, played around with the ar dino....
ar does warm it up a bit. and it also became warm when i was first using the phone and installing all my apps..
just warm, definitely not hot. certainly not hot enough to burn skin or bake an egg haha, let's say 40-45 degrees C...
There are so many samsung or other android manufacturer fanboys that wants to bash Sony.. They did a perfect job on the heat issue, one of the best especially using the SD 810 that everyone talked sh*t about.

Then sell it and go try some other device that can shoot 20min 4K, is waterproof, stereo speakers, one of the best android camera, beautiful design, micro sd slot. ugh there isn't any?
I saw many videos that the Z5 runs 2-3 degrees hotter than the 'coldest' Note 5 and thats respectful.
Be happy that you have it, because if I had the choice to jump from my Z2 it would be Z5 or the Z5 premium.

Lol this is why I don't believe in what most people on here say as the negative. Its them trying to nit pick on tge device. In actual reality all phones get warm or hotter than others when using it. It's an electronic device that has internal components and boards inside so yeah its gonna get warm/hot. Phones are made from different materials from plastic,to glass,to metal etc. And the heat attracts differently in each.so to the op,if your asking if the phone gets warm/hot.. Yes it does and so does every other phone out there. If your asking if it gets hot to where it burns?? I highly doubt that.

I'm relatively new to this forum, so I don't know if it's changed in any dramatic way recently, but it seems to me that no one has any objection to you mentioning issues with the device. I have a few negative things to say about the device myself (I'm very disappointed with the volume of the speakers, for instance).
Don't be surprised, though, when you get some backlash for saying incredible things like "a few degrees more and the phone will burn your hands". That's just plain exaggerated nonsense. And in the case it isn't nonsense, then it must be the fact that you have a device that is out of the norm, otherwise people would be reporting this near hand-burning issue left and right.
I agree with the previous poster...almost all modern handheld devices get warm with CPU-intensive applications, and in my experience, this device has not gotten any hotter than other recent flagship devices like the iPhone 6S. It's gotten warm on occasion, but certainly not anywhere's near hand-burning temps.
I don't know if you are comfy with 40 degrees. Im not. And for me that is hot. I don't care if S6 is worst I don't have that phone. I'm talking about Z5. I know that the SD 810 is the culprit and not Sony but stop with the fanboyism. I only said like in the first post IS THE ONLY BAD THING FOR ME. Check I said ME.

Yep, must be the 810 because the media and everyone else has instilled in us that it's just a terrible processor that will melt phones. I have had 2 phones with it, and while it does get warm, it never gets hot or overheats. Not to mention it is one fast chip. I can say for certain that my M8 got way warmer than my G Flex 2, and probably the Z5 too.

Any idea when they releasing?
There probably won't be a XZ with SD800. They'll go for Honami and no one knows when it;ll be released, rumors are around September. I knew most of the stuff that Honami will have, but i still bought XZ. For me it's an almost perfect phone and it's the most beautiful one i've seen. The only downside are the viewing angles, but yea, who looks at the phone from the sides? Sony have released great updates, which fixed most of the software issues, like lag, camera quality, screen calibration, heat issues. And we have great roms, now even with leaked apps from Honami, including X-Reality, and they aren't that different.
The most important thing to ask yourself is Am I happy with XZ? My answer was Hell yea! so I bought it
Maybe, you mean, you r wating for one sony, which is known as Xperia il. It features SD800 and a G camera sensor.
But in my opinion, whatever S4pro or SD800, the performance is enough for daily using. And one thing you should notice that higher frequency of cpu makes the phone more hot when it is running under the high performance.
whatever time you buy a phone there will always be another that will come out later that will be better lol
personally I love the xz, better build quality than s4 and not constantly overheating like HTC one.

Glass cracks? Never heard to be caused by GPS or speaker. I am careful with the phone, no issues so far. But of course i've read people have problems, like dead pixels and bulge on the back glass near the camera. These are of course hardware faults, so the phone will be replaced. Every phone has some of those (not the same, just faults). I've read about the glass cracks too, and have no idea why it has happened, but as far as i know Nexus 4 had similar issues, because it has a glass back too. And Honami may have it too. It's better to get the phone from a safer store, i mean for the warranty. That's why i got mine from a Sony Center, it was a higher price, but i don't have to worry if anything happens.

Z1 seems like the perfect phone on paper, at least for me. Wait till users get it so u know what is in about it.
I'm actually thinking about the Note 3 or the Z1. The Z1 looks fantastic! But I think I'd miss the functionality of the S-Pen. I'm going to wait for a few reviews to make a decision. Not to mention I won't be buying a phone until Dec. at the earliest! haha.
I'm thinking of Sony Z1, LG G2, iPhone 5S
if the Z1 speaker were not so low , and the screen was not covered by a protection film that gets easily scratched, and if removed the sony logo gets removed too, I would have bought the Z1

Like most people then
LG G2 is a great choice, actually. But like it's been said, you're gonna miss the S-Pen funcionality. Otherwise, the G2 has OIS, the SGN3 not. Of course, the 3 GB are sweet!
I love the G2, but I am not too happy with LG about their update schedule. I love updates! Before I commit to Note 3 or Z1 or even the G2, I'm going to wait to see what the Nexus 5 has to bring! Who knows, maybe I'll just stick with the Note 2 ^.^ It's still a damn great device!
I have a Z1 on hand. Anything you'd like to know? Still getting the Note III, but the Z1 would be my second choice.

Battery life was markedly better than the Z, but I wouldn't put it up with the Note II - unfortunately I haven't been able to test the battery life in a properly quantifiable manner, but based on my usage of the device I'd think ~4 hours screen on over LTE would be possible. It gets rather hot when under load, I suppose you can always dunk it in a cool glass of water mind you.
Screen quality - vastly superior to the Z. Could never have lived with that. This I can live with. The viewing angles still aren't quite there, yet they're so much better than the Z that I was happy enough. Washes out and is especially bad at certain angles, but dead on it's very nice and gets quite bright, though sunlight visibility isn't fantastic.
Speaker was louder than I recall the Z being. Nothing special, though, I prefer the Note's.
Happy to help.

Sounds like you need to get that Nokia. Or you can switch over to the laggy s5. What phone does not have lag at one point or another? The m8 is the only phone I have ever had that never lags. I am looking at the phone purely because it has a huge screen and you can hang on to it with one hand. I couldn't do that with the note 3 and the m8 is just too big for such a small screen. It's just a phone it's not life. Some people here need to get one. A life that is.

Just noted this article so take it with a grain of salt I suppose:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Snap...t-owners-sweat-with-overheating-issue_id74367
From what I can tell it's just one person so far reporting those types of issues but, you do have to wonder about it considering the 810 does have that reputation for overheating and Sony choosing it for their Z5 Compact if the combination will be eventually seen as a bad one.
I had a lot of interest in this smartphone, serious interest, now I'm having to step back and rethink that possible purchase until more info comes along.
Anyone else seen such reports anywhere else?

From what I can tell it's just one person so far reporting those types of issues but, you do have to wonder about it considering the 810 does have that reputation for overheating and Sony choosing it for their Z5 Compact if the combination will be eventually seen as a bad one.
I had a lot of interest in this smartphone, serious interest, now I'm having to step back and rethink that possible purchase until more info comes along.
Anyone else seen such reports anywhere else?

Absolutely no issue.
PA posting **** again.
My CPU-temp never exceeded 50-55°C so far even when gaming.
It's just right Sony went with the 810, especially the 3D performance is way above the 808.

One variable that everybody keeps forgetting about is the build and the materials of the device. The Z5c is glass on the back which conducts even the smallest amount of heat like its a big deal (happened on my Nexus 4).
Right now, I'm hoping that dbrand or somebody will make skins for this device and then I'll be more happier.
At casual usage my Z5C doesn't produce heat at all. When playing titles like real racing 3 it gets as warm as the Z3C.. No worries.
Mine is fine. No overheating here.

Mine gets no hotter than my Z3c. When I got it on Friday, I logged into Spotify and downloaded tracks solidly for about 2hrs - got a bit warm but no overheating.
The user who made the touch issue video on Youtube stated in comments that it really doesn't have any overheating issues. I'm not even sure he knows that his video is being used at Phonearena.
My tests on 4K recording - average CPU temperature when recording is about 60°C. When over 65, information about high temperature displays - at about 8 minutes of recording. When CPU got to 69-70 the recording stopped (9:20) and camera shut down. After that CPU temperature dropped down to 53 and is slowly going down. But the phone itself is still very hot.
Edit: tested using com.yanyan.cputemp

Yeah, the guys with the touch screen problems are sometimes experiencing them after rebooting the phone - I doubt they are due to overheating.
The screen goes sometimes bad when charging, or using 4k film. I've had my phone about 2 days and so far has had restart it 5-6 times.

DevCheck Pro.
This is an App one can trust, as the developer himself has got a SD 810 device.
No matter what i'm doing with the phone, it always seems either cool or a bit warm.
Depends on the SOC-binning and other facts, i may dive into /sys to find out some stuff.
My previous Xperia Z was about 15-20°C hotter while gaming then my Z5C.

Yea Phone Arena telling lies because this aint true and thats why they removed the article!!!!!
Guys, on my spare iPhone I am experiencing similar issue with no touch response on screen from time to time which is only resolved by locking screen and unlock it. So we are not alone and we have nothing to complain.

Got mine from clove too. Try doing some timelapse and AR stuff with the camera and you will see just how toasty it gets and how fast. It is most definitely a problem. Especially when you go into these modes and it warns you that its going to get hot and may shut down!

It does slow down when rendering the AR but nothing slower than the Z3C i previously owned. And that heat messeges is a standard for Sony, were present on Z2,Z3 seriers and now Z5 as a notification which you can ignore.
There is no overheating of this device, there is only slight warmth in back area which is perfectly normal.
Good day!
I've been looking for a new device to buy as a replacement for my Z1 compact. I have considered the Z5 and this phone.
I liked the Z5 at first. It has arguably better camera and has dual heat pipes. I think after that they're almost the same. But Z5 is still ~$120 more expensive than the Z3+ here in our country. So I'm picking between the two.
I have been reading a lot, and it is always conflicting. Some say overheating issue in Z3+ is gone, some not. I've been trying to fully desire the Z3+, but I'm just scared my money will go to waste if I have a device I can barely use.
There are already similar threads but those were a year ago. So my question is, is this still worth buying? Can I have some assurance that this phone will not heat up and become useless? I want a phone that can stay with me for at least 2 years. Thank you in advance for the help.
What is your average usage scenario, meaning for what will you use your phone? Playing lots of games, shooting 4K videos?

Hi! During weekdays, I probably spend an hour or 2 of music while on commute. 3-4 hours of usage (browsing, reading, youtube) when I got home. On weekends, I spend more time on my phone. Probably double of what I do on the weekdays.
About games, I play occasionally, when I got bored or have nothing else to do. Not really heavy games.
And lastly about the camera. I take a lot of photos when I go out, buildings and stuff. Videos: rarely, and I'll use 1080p/720p if I do want to record. I do not see the benefit of 4K recording yet!

In that case, I can recommend Z3+ wholeheartedly, you won't experience overheating, and phone will serve you perfectly. Expect 4-5h off SOT per day depending on usage, mobile data usage, brightness etc...

I am still testing, in my usage pattern it will last 2-3 days which is totally ok. Once so far I had connection issues, will see if it's going to repeat, but, so far so good...
What I like with them is notification party, ease of use, even this possibility to answer using the main unit only...

I drive 300 miles (4 1/2 hours) on Mondays and Thursdays for business. I stream music the whole way (Pandora) connected via bluetooth to my car with the screen off. I typically reach my destination having used 15 - 20% of the battery life. I find that acceptable.

In my country, price difference between the two is 20eur in favor of Z3. I wouldn't say Z3+ is way better, it is better but Z3's biggest advantage is battery. If you can live with 4h SOT vs. 6h, then go for Z3+. Heating issues are past, I am not playing games to comment that part, but for experimenting I took once long 4K video, and it recorded 10 minutes with small temperature raise, when I stopped forget recording. And that temperature increase was not higher than charging schedule or some longer browsing etc...
