Battery problem, wifi and bluetooth not working - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Some days ago I suddendly noticed that wifi, bluetooth and hotspot doesn't work anymore on my i9505. After, I noticed that swapping battery doesn't work anymore unless connect to charger (I mean if I remove the battery and then reinsert it, the phone won't start even with battery full charge unless i connect the phone to charger). I tried doing factory reset, format data and system, flash previous firmware (currently i'm on UHOHJ2), use a fresh battery, open the phone but no sign of burn or water damage. And, I forgot a thing, every battery I try, drains really fast without doing anything (I mean 5 hours from fully charge with screen off), and the phone stay really hot similiar when play heavy 3d games.
There is something I can do or I can trash this ****?
Thanks in advance

If the wifi suddenly stopped without you doing anything then you got hardware damage. Sounds to me your phone is dying.

[Problem]: usb to pc connection not working and excessive heating

The problem is that the phone is suddenly becoming extremly hot anytime it is charging or turned on. If I turn it off and let it cool down and then turn back on it becomes very hot in just few minutes. The battery after all night charging will discharge in 30 minutes max if i don't touch the phone, if I do anything or softreset it will discharge in immiedietly. If it has 95 % before softreset after it will be be like 5% and giving me alert about low battery level. Charging process is also much slower than normal, after 5 hours it will be around 50%. Before it was up to 100% form 5% in 4 hours max. This is all about power problems that made me think it could be battery dying... but propably not the case :/ Plus the battery doesn't heat up only the shiny black part around usb port is the place from where all the heat comes.
The other problem is that active sync or usb mass storage connection cannot be established. The computer doesn't see the phone at all. Moreover it will always charge the phone via usb even if I disable charging via usb in power options.
I tried a couple of hard resets and reinstalled newest official rom available on htc europe website from nbh file on a card (since usb is not working and I had spl 1.56 from that rom on the device already) This didn't help.
I am pretty sure now it is not a software fault or mechanical injury since I've never dropped the phone and always had it in this htc sock. No water contact was ever possible. It was just a regular day when this happend and I noticed it when the phone was in my pants pocket and started to burn my leg. Think it is some hardware issue related to usb port or anthenas since this is the source of heat.
Already returned my HD for fixing, but just thought I would let everybody know what happend to me. Anybody had a problem like that with their phone or maybe knows what is going on with this crazy Touch HD device?
My HD has started doing this in the last 10 days!
The black shiney part is get way hot, even when its not even on charge!
It wouldn't connect to active sync but would just as a disk drive.
The battery is running down to about 60% from 100 in less than 1.5 hours with no use!
I've never dropped the phone, spilt anything on it or anything.
I've hard reset it twice, and it was back to normal for a day, then started doing it again so i turned the phone off and charged it over night, was normal for about 5 hours after turning it back on, and now its started doing it again! I'm going to try the test on HTC's website to test if its a faulty battery but this doesn't explain why its getting so hot????
Let me know how yours turns out, i'm going to call orange insurance and see what they say!

Herald battery problem =/ help needed

Hey guys, my herald suddenly started acting weird. It was working fine. Had occasional battery problems (like immense battery drain) but suddenly I took out the battery, reinserted it and it didn't switch on. I kept pressing the switch on button but to no avail. I attached my mobile to the data cable to check if this was a problem with my rom rather than the battery. I accessed the bootloader by soft reset and used romupdateutility to hardspl it. When I switched it back on the "Cannon Yang" sign appeared and the cell phone switched off. Also, when in bootloader, if i took out the charger or the data cable, the cell phone switched off by itself. It was working fine a few hours back though. So I went to purchase a new battery, got a hold of one, it was a bit bigger than Herald's original battery but could fit in. It's running fine, just that the back cover won't fit properly, but one problem, when I charge this battery, it doesn't charge rather the "Main Battery" says Unknown. Same thing happens when I connect it via data cable. Is there any way I can use my old battery again? What might be the problem? The phone barely switches on and when it does, it switches back off after the Cannon yang logo. With the new battery, the phone is working but the battery won't charge or rather would show the main battery as Unknown. I'd be grateful is someone could help me on this. Thanks =)
Buy a new battery. Sounds like it's dead. Just got 1 couple months ago for less than $5.00. Where did the other battery your using come from ? Better make sure it's the same specs as the other.

Major Battery Issues

I've been having problems with my battery for a week now, I noticed it wouldn't charge to 100% so that the green light comes on it will just goto 99% and then stay there. The battery then drains so fast, like literally I will be on 1% in an hour and a half.
So I tried a full reset of the phone and that didn't work. I also bought a new battery and that didn't work so I'm guessing the phone might well be knackered.
Also the phone seems to be really hot I never noticed it that hot before.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Replace battery immediately! Do not attempt to charge it anymore, it could go very bad!
I did, I bought a new battery and the same thing happens.
I have to have it on charge constantly all day.
Maybe charging control unit(in phone) is damaged, or charger is not working properly.
Can you check voltage on charger?
Also are you sure you use original battery manufactured by HTC?
Right here, my problem

[Q] Hard reset of data after the phone goes off when the battery drains out complete

I have been facing this problem since quite a long time , i tried to change the wp7 roms even but still the same problem . When battery is completely finished it does the hard reset which causes all data , applications , messages and all to wipe out . YOUR HELP WOULD MAKE A GREAT DIFFERENCE . "THANKS"
this is going to sound obvious and i mean absolutely no offence to you but
Dont let it run out, i use mine a lot and its came close a few times but once i get to about 30mA left it gets switched off i do this not because of this hard reset issue which i knew nothing about, but because of the stories of not being able to charge at all if you run it dry to the point it wont turn on
Few times had the battery discharged so the phone gone to the off state. Never got HR of the phone.
In any case there is an electric residue. Maybe it happened because residue had also gone, so the phone couldn't turn on at all.
1. If Your phone turned of because of low battery, don't try to turn it on without a charger.
Magldr turns on Your phone if it's been docked (started charging). Registering in the network takes some resources, so the phone goes off again. Then again on and off. The phone is not charging.
To charge the phone I pulled out my sim-card (or if You have pin verification on Your sim card, just don't enter it). May be this helps someone
My battery run out few times too and I even tried to remove battery when the phone was on. Everything was there after reboot/charging. Something is wrong with your setup.
I had the same issue with my phone last night. Lost my activation, downloads and all. Kinda mad but i wont let it get that way again. anyone have an idea why this would happen while im venting?

How did you know how much power spend the battery ( you say about 30mA ), and where is the app to know this...
Thanks ans sorry for my English...
Same thing happened to me last night. lost my partition too! wp7 reclaimed the android side of the sd card and reformatted all 16 gb. crap!!

Essential Phone keeps powering off

Hello everyone my brother's Ph-1 keeps shutting down right after powering up, I have tried everything from factory resetting to trying a different charger, nothing seems to work. This happened after he didn't use the phone for almost a month, it worked perfectly before.
It powers off even when on charge or connected to the laptop.
The phone doesn't stay on for more than a minute or two which means i cannot use ADB to side load an update
The phone is running Android P and the April security update patch.
Please do help me out
Thanking you

It could be corrupted though it sounds a bit like a battery issue, to me. If battery discharges too much eg it didn't shut down itself properly when battery was at a low level (they retain more charge than shown to user so it can shut down with proper procedure) & the battery ran down past it's reserve the battery may not be able to be recharged with a normal charger even though you charge it. (Thought a battery specialist could possibly revive it with a boost charge, though I've only seen these used with industrial batteries)
with a "dead battery bootloop" sometimes you can get it going by booting when connected to the charger, but you'll probably need a new battery. Maybe also try boot into safe or recovery mode when connected to Essential charger. (I'm assuming your phone not corrupted, though as you haven't given us much info about exactly what happens & what you are seeing)

The phone shuts down even when in recovery or safe mode whilst connected to the charger.
It does sometimes fully boot up and then shutdowns, but mostly shuts down while still on the essential logo.
If I may ask what do you mean by the phone might be corrupt?
Can one month of non usage cause the battery to die out?

by corrupt I mean some data that is part of the boot process causes bootloop so it shuts down, but as your phone is shutting down at different points in boot cycle I think it's probably battery
Leaving the phone turned off unused for longish periods should not be a problem normally even with a few % left in battery. And even if left turned on it should shut itself down when battery low & be able to boot up again after a month due to the battery "reserve" capacity (but possibly a month was too long). And if it was not recharged straight away and/or rebooted multiple times the battery "reserve" could fall too low and not have enough power to start/shutdown properly (possibly causing data corruption ... though l don't know if there is some sort of fail-safe boot procedure ) Then there is a possibility there is a hardware fault with battery/phone that meant battery lost too much power.
There were some tricks ie "boost charge" you could do with removable batteries that were in "deep sleep" as shown here for example
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TEXA7qIJ968
But they don't really work without taking your battery out (for us we might as well get a new battery when opening phone up, & there would be some risk that you damage battery as we do not know the exact charge to apply on this battery, which could cause unsafe battery) I wouldn't want to freeze my phone even though it should survive OK, as I'd be alittle concerned about long term effect on our screens small pixels (I remember the guys at popular mechanics put an old flip phone with little LCD screen in liquid nitrogen & it still worked after being warmed up!).
See https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/low_voltage_cut_off
for more tech details
firmware issues do not cause the issue you are describing
you have a hardware problem
sounds like a bad battery to me
good news is the battery is not difficult to replace (don't listen to ifixit I am not sure what they where smoking when they did there tear down)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCKxAQXdTJ8
don't bother with silly and wrong tricks like trying to hack the battery back to life its the wrong way todo
if the battery ever gets to that point then the battery is bad enough said

So true! )) As much as I respect the guys from iFixit, they screwed this one up pretty badly - basically, made a tutorial on how to destroy your phone. Fixez.com did much better.
