HELP PLEASE ■ > Lollipop on N900- all that glitters is not gold !!. - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello fellas. I am having a note 3 N900 exynos variant which i had bought in dec 2013. I had rooted my fon and was going smoothly. I was fascinated by the charming looks of lollipop and i updated my os. All that glitters is not gold- the update literally taught me that. Very poor battery performance (100 to 0 in some 8 to 10h with screen time of 3h ,just moderate use with internet on. No gaming, no movies etc). I decided to buy a new battery thinking it will solve the issue and bought it online frm Amazon aftr reading all the reviews. I got the product today ans its much worse than my original battery. By 5h the battery is 38% !!. I am asking for a refund for the battery which does look original in its case ,serial no etc. Now i feel the major battery eater is lollipop itself and now i am thinking of going back to kitkat. I have a few questions, pls do answer them.
1. Can i revert back to kitkat like how i updated using odin and the firmware frm sammobiles ??
2. Will rooting the lollipop and installing greenify ,tb etc and removing the bloatwares help improve the battery life and reduce the ram usage ??
3. I would like to know wats the battery life of similar users with a 2yr old note 3
4. Please give detailed description of reverting back to kitkat ,things to be taken care not to brick the device
Tons of thanks in advance ☺

If I were you, I would give Temasek's CM12.1 (forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/hlte-spr-vzw-temaseks-unofficial-t2953375) (IF IT SUPPORTS EXYNOS... ^^) build a try. I use it on my daily driver incl commercial usage for work. I take it off the charger @7:30 AM and later the day at about 9:30 PM I have about 60 % left. I would not recommend to hop back to an even more outdated OS at all. Samsung's support for our Note 3 is gone and if you wanna keep secure and up to date you really should try Cyanogen Or Temasek's UNOFFICIAL Cyanogen.
Otherwise... yes, you can revert back the way you updated by Odin. Just be sure that you really loaded the correct Firmware of course.
Btw, You can check this one out, too. Its a heavily de-bloated TW Firmware based on official Samsung. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57756091) (IF IT SUPPORTS EXYNOS... ^^) I used it before I witnessed Stagefright security problems and YES battery thanked it a bit compared to official builds ^^

Turn off your phone, and then turn it on pressing and holding Volume Up, Home, and Power button at the same time until you see a warning. Then press Volume Up to continue, and navigate using volume keys and select wipe cache/factory reset with the Home button, then reboot.
Please note that by doing this all your data will be lost.
After doing the above-mentioned download Advanced Battery Calibrator, and Repair Battery Life.

Note 3 (N9005) Lollipop 5.0

Hi Guys, i want to ask few questions.
Im still on android 4.4.2 and want to update to 5.0.
But before that i want to ask if The battery life and perfomance is better.
Specially the battery life.. I will factory reset it so it will be fresh.
And whats new in it.
Thanks
You should do a factory reset.
Battery life: Much much better, technically 25% or so. I was easily getting 6 hours screen on with LP.
Performance: No, not better. I mean maybe in some parts, but not everywhere. Get one thing straight, LP 5.0 is an unfinished business of Google, and there are plenty of apps and games which are not really compatible and will lag, so keep that in mind.
By the way, a question should go to Q&A section mate.

Have a read at this thread , it may answer all the questions you have regarding Lollipop.
i was on LP and i downgraded back to 4.4.2
1st, it is so bright & i don't like the general aspect, regarding battery life, it is good but only when on standby mode, otherwise i see no difference between KK & LP, to be honest, i am still on KK because of galaxy S5 stock ROM by @JAMAL 2367, it is really 0 mistake ROM!!

[Q] Missing: Screen On Time in Battery Usage

After hours of searching, I can't find any solution or even people complaining about missing Screen On Time in the Battery Usage after upgrading to Lollipop. Maybe someone can tell me if there is a fix, or a link to a discussion, maybe I didn't put the right search strings.
I can see people screenshots of people's Lollipop SoT though, not sure if they are using Custom ROM for that.
I know the alternative way is to use GSam Battery, which I have. Just annoying they broke this in Lollipop.
its there for me, "Screen" tap on that, under it shows "on time", no?.

Not for me, I have attached a screenshot. I have my Lollipop since it was available for the Note 4, I flashed an official OXA firmware (version BOC3).
Then I saw another version yesterday with XSG (version BOC5), flashed that too hoping it fixes it, but still the same.
Sometimes the SoT would appear but does not reflect my usage at all. I would be around 2 hour SoT and the Battery usage for screen would only say 2% and sits at the bottom of the list.
My Note 4 is N910C Exynos and originally with firmware XSG..
sorry*deleted*
Just to update, I have performed Factory Reset twice a few hours ago, still no SoT on Battery Usage even though I've been reconfiguring the phone unplugged and on battery. What is up with my N910C....

its not broken on Lollipop, its just something weird on your phone but none of us know what have you done with your phone, you need to post more info, are you rooted? have you done a battery cycle yet??? did you calibrate your battery?? To get a solid answer we need a solid question, cheers:fingers-crossed:

Ok I guess this is an isolated issue, I kept it short in case it was a know issue. Here's the run down:
Phone is originally from UAE (United Arab Emirates), with XSG firmware. Screen Battery Usage was normal before upgrading to Lollipop.
As soon as I flashed to Lollipop with a region code OXA and the Lollipop ROM version BOC3, the Screen Battery usage stopped showing up., no matter how long I use the phone with screen on. Note that this was not a clean wipe upgrade.
I lived with this for 2 months, then found an XSG Lollipop version BOC5. I flashed this, again not a clean wipe. Same issue.
So I thought, maybe it was time to try clean wipe, I did, and Screen Battery Usage is still missing.
I have used a good deal of SoT the last 2 days, and then playing 45 minutes of 1080p Video running from the SD Card, still no Screen Usage.
I attached the 2 screenshots showing the Battery Usage. Definitely over 3 hours of SoT so it couldn't have been less than 4% of battery usage.
Phone Configuration:
SM-N910C Exynos
NEVER Rooted
Screen is on Auto Brightness, lowest setting
Surely someone out there have this same issue, I've searched high and low but I just can't find any. What am I doing wrong here?
I have the SM-N910C Exynos model with XSG Firmware, same problem.
in general Lollipop update 5.0.1 have so many bugs & Samsung with all the developer team they are just working on Galaxy S6/6 Edge and ignoring every thing else including Note 4.
Samsung should listen to Note 4 users and explain to them future update plans for the Note 4, and it should be fast as much as S6 updates.

Ah ok, guess it's not just me.
I agree with what you said, but Samsung won't do that. I don't think other manufacturers don't either anyway.
It's not a huge issue not being able to see SoT stat.
Thanks for being in the same boat.

New Battery Advice?

Hi all,
So I recently bought a new genuine note 4 Battery off of Amazon (bargain at £12!) and I'm just wondering about what's the best way to start using it?
The reason I ask is currently i'm currently running stock 4.4.4 BTU (before I was running 5.01. BTU) and I have the issue with the battery either going from 15% to 0% in minutes or sometimes it just turns off at 10% (like literally the phone just dies)
I've tried everything from a restore, new firmware, old firmware and event reset the battery status via the service menu. I'm just worried that i'll insert this new battery and may have the same issues, perhaps I'm looking into things too much?
Or should I give one of the new 5.1.1 roms a go?
Thanks.

ive only had that battery issue when i was using an old iphone 4s, i think a new battery should behave like a new battery and not have magic disappearing charge %
Yeah, I think it might just be the battery. Give the 5.1.1 roms a go. I installed one on my Z2 and it was better battery wise. I am still waiting for the update on my Note 4 G variant, I hope it will also make things better.

Downgrading from Lollipop 5.0.1 to Kitkat 4.4.2 - Battery drains so fast

Hi All Respected Members,
I have Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 since last March. The phone was working fine when I purchased it.
I exactly dont remember what was firmware installed that time but I have updated my phone to Lollipop 5.0.1 in November and all sudden my phone started creating problems.
Phone set always remain hot from camera and board as well.
Battery drains so fast.
Charging to 100% done in 4 - 5 hours.
Loads of lags during working.
These are few I am listing here. Then I have read a forum here and did everything same and downgrade to kitkat 4.4.2
Link is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/i9505-downgrade-5-0-lollipop-to-4-4-2-t3052472
Now, new problems.
Still set remain heatup all the time.
Battery drains so fast even on standby.
Battery lasts only for 7 hours without sim as well.
Charging time is 4 hours.
Now personally I want to sale my set as I have ruined my load of energy and all in vain. I dont want to root my set please.
Can anybody suggest me any stock rom link so I can enjoy my set again please? The most stable firmware.
I want to flash stock again please.

About battery SM-N910U

Hi, i have SM-N910U device and the original new battery. But, why my battery draining so fast? Currently i using MM 6.0.1 official. Not rooted device. I’ve done lot of things to keep battery stable. But it seems not working. The battery drained so fast. This is malfunctioned of seri U or what? Thanks for the answer
What do you mean by "original new battery"? Do you mean the original battery that came with the phone? Or you have recently purchased an "original new battery"?
If you have recently purchased a battery it is almost guaranteed not to be an original Samsung battery as they do not make them any more - it is probably fake. Buy a RavPower battery and see how it goes. Same if you're still using the battery that originally came with the phone - get a RavPower. You might also want to try a factory reset and set your phone up clean again - this made a big difference to mine about a year ago when my battery was draining fast.

Three possible curlpits: Your apps, the battery, or the firmware
Battery—fake battery will die fast, according to what others say
Apps—some apps are battery hungry, so find a way to hibernate those with Greenify or Hibernation Manager
Software—Android 6 is the last and worst update for performance and battery life. While it's on KitKat (4.4), its battery life was awesome; fast forward to Lollipop (5.0.1–5.1.1), from 12 hours of Screen On Time (SOT), it got decreased to 8 hours; and fast forward again to Marshmallow (6.0.1), it became from 8 hours to 3 hours. No matter what kernel or battery-saving methods you use, it's futile for a firmware that rots a powerful phone. The only way to fix this is by either using a custom ROM (Refined Nougat, Note 5/7 ported ROMs, etc.), or downgrading your firmware. (Installing KitKat with the latest bootloader prevents you from downgrading).
With a new battery on MM stock and unrooted I was getting 6 hours SOT (Exynos). Dropped off now after using the battery for 18 months, but soon upgrading to Note 9 or 10 anyway.
